"Hey, stranger." Mal was sitting on the steps of the building full of classrooms, cleaning his glasses with a handkerchief. It was an old-fashioned cloth thing, white cotton, with no design and no embroidery on it. Embroidery was scratchy. For once Mal was not in a suit; he was in blue jeans and a t-shirt, and it made him look different without the glasses on. He wasn't even rumpled; there were sharp creases in the cuffs of his jeans, and he was even wearing sneakers. He checked his glasses against the light and slid them back on up his nose, blinking at her. "Feel okay? I kept figuring you must've pulled something at the end there, with KFC." Mal got up so he could drop down the step and meet her on the sidewalk, eliminating any height difference between them.

"Hey~" Mercy was wandering, getting ready to go to the "outside world" to acquire the rest of her belongings from her apartment. She decided to take a small detour so she could become more familiar with the campus quicker. She already knew where the track and field were by heart since she went there for her morning run/workout every day, and the pool was where she went swimming on occasion. Currently, she was sporting some leggings, a nice green shirt, black leggings and some brown high heeled boots. When she rounded the corner of the building that had the classroom, she almost jumped out of her skin when Mal said hello to her. "Yeah...I'm feeling better." she gave him a nervous smile before raising an eyebrow. He really wasn't all that tall. In fact, they were the same height now that she had on boots. "I do have a bit of a temper, I'm not going to deny that." she tapped her chin, wondering if she should go to KFC as soon as she stepped out. "You doing anything right now? I'm about to go head out and grab some stuff. Maybe might go and get some KFC after?"

It made him laugh. "I'm waiting on a letter. But I can walk with you, if you want." The idea of seeing regular people so soon actually held very little appeal for Mal. He'd much rather stay among the Chosen and see how things shook out. He was still expecting people to bite his face off-- but he'd said his peace and he still meant it. He really wasn't that tall, and either it was being out of the suit or it was because they had adventured together that Mal seemed to move a little more freely. Or maybe it was just because he'd finally thawed out. "Eat some for me, if you do get that KFC. I'm still thinking of a bonfire on the beach at some point-- come by when you get back. Maybe we'll roast some marshmallows or something." He kept his hands in his pockets, but they could stroll-- toward the Hearth, or around the building, it didn't matter to Mal. It was enough to be moving on a not-frozen day, with no metal birds, no poisonous poop, and no chance of civilians deaths being on their heads.

"A letter huh?" a slightly flirty smile decorated her face. While she was tempted to ask what kind of letter, Mercy didn't want to be nosy, "Sure~ Walk with me, good sir. I'm taking the long way around since I never really got to explore much beyond the track and swimming pool." Mercy did take note that something was different here, but wasn't too worried about it to make any more observations. "How about I just bring you some KFC back? We could eat it while we're at that bonfire? Hell, I could just bring KFC for everyone" Lord knows she made enough money to afford it. "I want to bring my new baby, but I don't think there would be room for a motorcycle here on campus or in my room. Ed would probably judge me silently for that one." Maybe she should bring something back for her roomie to help with his injuries? Mercy placed her hands behind her back and walked, making sure to try and memorize where most things were. It would take a couple of tries, but she would get it eventually. "Do you ever plan on going back eventually?"

"What, back out there?" He took a hand from his pocket to wave out -- not toward the lake, but meaning beyond the forest with the things that creaked and groaned when they shoulder. The real world. "Yes, eventually. Finn-- my brother-- would lose his crap if I just vanished and only came home for periodic visits." His mouth twisted; a little wistful, a little angry, but he shook his head. His new glasses were dark blue and made his eyes look more blue than they were. "Finn's getting married in the next couple of months. I'm waiting for the invitation. And he sends me letters just about every day." Mal rolled his shoulders in a shrug, but mention of a motorcycle made him grin slowly. "Might be room in the stables for an iron horse. You could ask Poseidon. Or Hephaestus, they'd probably have a garage, right?"

She often wondered what it would be like to have another sibling, and now that her stepmom was pregnant, it was a weird and exciting feeling to become an older sibling to a baby. "Yeah, I would have a fit too if my older brother disappeared and didn't come back." His expression was lost on her, but assuming anything would just make things awkward. "Oh?! When is he getting married? Are you excited?" although she felt that it shouldn't have taken so long to send an invitation to your sibling. Maybe there was something more there? Her eyes lit up at the prospect of keeping her two-wheeled baby on campus with her instead of out in the real world where it could potentially get stolen or worse. "You think they would be okay with something like that? Where would I ride it?"

Viva Viola She often wondered what it would be like to have another sibling, and now that her stepmom was pregnant, it was a weird and exciting feeling to become an older sibling to a baby. Her eyes lit up at the prospect of keeping her two-wheeled baby on campus with her instead of out in the real world where it could potentially get stolen or worse. "You think they would be okay with something like that? Where would I ride it?" Mal laughed. "One at a time. Hang on, um." He had one of the letters with him -- more card than letter, but when he pulled it out of his pocket, the scrawling writing filled the entire inside of the card and half of the back, too. "Okay, so when is next February, apparently, the last week, he expects me there for the whole week. His fiance's family goes in for the wedding brunch and rehearsal dinners and toasts and what all." He tucked the card back into his back pocket. "I'm glad he's happy, I guess. Alex is a good kid, and Finn's crazy about him." Mal just knew that those were like, the bare minimum for marriage. "I think you'd probably have to ask first, and I have no idea, but it'd be better than it getting stolen or shut up in long term storage, right? The worst that happens is they say no."

The more information Mal gave her, the higher Mercy's eye brows rose. "Oh! That's just....I'm sorry and excuse the squeal but that's downright adorable. I didn't know your brother was into guys~" She hopped she didn't sound like a d**k but she was always a sucker for cute couples and she was sure [if Mal's looks were any indication] that Finn and Alex were too cute for words. Plus there is the fact that Finn = Finn from star wars so Alex would most definitely be his Poe. "He expects you to be there the entire week? Well, at least he's giving you a heads up right?" She tapped her chin, thinking things over for her poor baby at home. "I suppose I could ask, and it's not like I cant afford a storage unit if push came to shove. I think I'll ask when I come back. So how did Zeus come to you for your recruitment?"

"I don't know if he expects me there the entire week, but I'd feel shitty if I wasn't there for it." He used his phone to show Mercy a picture of them; Finn was darker than Mal and had a bit more of a snub noise but they were definitely brothers. And Alex was tall and blond and Nordic looking, with melting brown eyes. He looked like he could have been a model, compared to Finn's cute. Not whatever it was that he did, something with financials. The question about Zeus made him shiver, as if the pleasant day had gone cold. "I really don't want to talk about it." It was a terrible topic of conversation, and it made his skin crawl. He put his phone away and rubbed his hands over his forearms, trying to make the crawling sensation stop. "What about you?"

"True, I would feel shitty as well if that were my brother." She leaned in to get a good look at his phone, grinning like a mad woman. "Awwwwe! Practically adorable! You should ask your brother where he found such a hottie....Or if he has any brothers." Mercy coughed and laughed anyway, nowhere near serious. "What does Alex do for a living? Modeling?" Frowning, her smile dimmed just a tad. "My mother was a model and owns a small modeling agency so maybe she knows him?" The shivering didn't go unnoticed, but Mercy chose not to press any further. "I....Well, Ares came to me through one of my targets on the shooting range. Scared the s**t out of me really since I thought I was seeing things. I even made a promise to turn myself into the nut house if what he said wasn't true." Not really a lie, but it could be taken as one if one knew what signs to look for. But, telling people around here [with the exception of Mathilda] that she killed people for a living didn't seem like it would have the right results as far as making friends.
