Aaricia wasn't sure why she'd been dragged along on this business trip. She'd followed after her father, having to work a little to keep up with his larger stride. She'd been introduced to the business partners... and then was promptly told to sit outside and wait for him to be done with his meeting.

Thankfully, she had a small sewing project that she'd brought along. Finding a bit of shade to sit under, she pushed her hood back and pulled her work out of her bag. A simple coin purse, but it would keep her busy until they could go back home.

Xewai, too, was dragged along on a business trip this afternoon. However, the buisness trip he went on very much involved him as well. Atleast it did until the discussions of payment began. Honestly, Xewai hated thinking about money. He didn't have much, and hated charging people for the services he provided. He was more than happy to let the adults handle that while he meandered about outside, looking around the rather unfamiliar territory.

Sure, he had been to Oba many, many times, but this place was just barely on the cusp of unrecognizable. Which meant it was time to explore!

And in his explorations, he finally found a nice bit of shade to sit under. Specifically, a bit of shade to sit under that included a rather interesting person sitting under it as well!

"Good afternoon! Mind if I sit here with you?"

Aaricia was working carefully on a bit of embroidery on one side of the purse. She was going to have to figure out if she would keep it or sell it. She should get herself some merchant practice...

Looking up, she cocked her head slightly quickly looked toward the building her father was in. He would be a while yet. She looked back to the stranger and smiled politely. "Good afternoon. You are welcome to sit if you wish. I am Aaricia."

Once invited to sit, Xewai happily obliged, sitting within arms reach of the girl. He took maybe just a moment to look her over, trying to figure out maybe what sort of hybrid she was, but the young one just didn't have enough world experience to pick things out.

Instead, he looked over at the embroidery work in her hands. How lovely it was!

"I'm Xewai! It's an utmost pleasure to meet you! May I ask, did you make that yourself? It's quite good!"

While she should have kept her eyes on her work, Aaricia couldn't help looking over and giving the friendly Matorian a warmer smile. "And you." Glancing to the little purse, she nodded proudly. "Thank you. I did make this. I just have a little left to finish, and I believe it will be a fine coin purse for someone." Head cocking slightly, she looked over to Xewai and smiled sweetly. "I don't suppose you would like to have it?"

How could Xewai NOT be stunned by the radiance and regalness that this young lady before him had! Her craftsmanship was just exquisite that he could only imagine what it would be like if he could fish with the same eloquence!

And how kind it was for her to offer the lovely little purse to him, a stranger whom he had just met! She truly was a treasure.

"Oh dear, I couldn't accept such a masterpiece! With my dirty hands and rummaging ways, the craftsmanship of your project would be lost on me and gone to waste! But that's okay! You've certainly already have brightened my day with your smile!"

The man's delight brought a bashful flush to Aaricia's face. "That's very kind of you to say." Looking at the little purse a moment, she smiled and shook her head. "Yet, items such as this are meant to be used, and not sit on a shelf to be kept pretty." She nodded lightly as she worked in a few more stitches. "Even if it gets dirty, I can assure you it will not be a waste if you're using it." With a soft chuckle, she shook her head. "Besides, this is not the last of what I will make~"

"My words are not kindness, they are truth, Miss, I promise you that!" She did have a point though, that it wouldn't be of much use if it just kinda sat on a shelf the whole time.

"I might use it, Miss, but it would not be for coins. Hehe, I never really have much coin, but I do collect beautiful stones and shells to make into the pieces worn by my organization." Xewai took a moment to shift his position so that Aaricia could see the cyclone piece hidden in his lush green hair. It was a bit crudely done, since he had made it on his own without much prior training, but he was no less proud of it! It shimmered with it's own greens and golds in the warm sunlight of the Oban Dessert.

"It would become encased in seasalt in no time if I used it as such. I could not imagine wrecking a lovely gift from someone as amazing as yourself!"

"Well, it doesn't have to be for coins only," Aaricia said lightly, eyes lifting to look at the presented ornament. "You made that?" Eyes alight, she leaned in closer. "Xewai, that is lovely! I've never seen anything like it."

Looking down at her little project, she gave a small nod. "If you insist. Perhaps I'll think of something a little more useful in working life?" Looking Xewai over, she brought a finger to her lip to tap curiously. "What do you think others like yourself would appreciate?"

As soon as Aaricia showed interest in his hair piece, he excitedly took it out of his hair and offered it to her.

"Thank you! It's the symbol of the Buhawi! They are a group of people who have always worked towards the freedom of others! From before the war they always worked to try to save those who cannot save themselves, back when my people were still bound in chains! We'd sweep them up like a cyclone, and put them somewhere else, somewhere safe!"
There was just so much pride he had for his group that it always felt like he would bubble over and explode with the feelings he had. "We still operate now but... We also do more things like escort work. Which isn't a bad thing! It just means the world is finally changing for something good!"

Xewai finally got off his soap box and settled down next to Aaricia, looking at her project once more. "I think people like... I dunno. Pretty things work well, but so do useful things.. Maybe you don't need to change what you make, but the materials itself? Something sturdy and up to the challenge of a pair of rough hands, but still elegant in it's own way."

Eyes brightening with delight, Aaricia accepted the piece for a closer look. It really was a beautiful thing. The colors and the shape... Such stones and shells were rare in Zena, and her exposure to anything in Oba was limited.

And then the story behind the decoration was explained. A symbol of freedom? People who would fight the tyranny of others? It.. sounded so magical. Tears tried to pool in her eyes a little, but she was able to blink them away before they could fall. If only the Buhawi could get her home to Zena...

She held the piece back out to Xewai and smiled. "Sturdier materials... That makes sense." Looking at her own creation, she chuckled lightly. "I guess this would be better in the hands of a noble than someone out in the world." Looking to Xeawi, her smile brightened a little. "Thank you for your assistance."

Now, Xewai was rather clueless in many ways. He didn't know much about the world beyond Matori and Oba, and he certainly didn't know much about anything that would cause a young lady like Aaricia to suddenly look so wistful and sad. Instead of taking back the hairpin, he took her hand, placing the hairpiece to her palm and closing her fingers around it.

"Miss Aaricia... If you ever do need help getting somewhere, just ask a Matorian Courier to have a Buhawi member contact you. We can get you where you need to go, just say the word. And depending on the situation, we do not ask anything in return. Guiding people safely is what we do best." Once the hand was closed around the piece, the young Matorian have the hand a small kiss on the knuckles before beaming at the lovely young woman once more.

"I'm always happy to be of service! I just LIVE to serve, afterall!"

Aaricia looked at her hand with surprise at the piece was place so securely into it. Gold eyes lifted, ready to decline, but her words stopped before she could finish intaking a breath. Could she really go home..? Xewai was so certain... A couple tears did fall this time, and she quickly brushed at them before looking over her shoulder. No sign of anyone seeing.

Just as quickly, she leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss to Xewai's cheek. "Thank you." Aaricia held the pin up to her chest a moment, and then tucked it securely into her little pack. She couldn't let her father see it... "I mean.. I will keep it in mind, if I should ever need it." After that little display, she knew she wasn't fooling anyone into thinking she was okay. She had to compose herself though. Her father wouldn't be much longer.

After a little sigh, she gave the boy a smile. "These Buhawi.. they must be very special people to have you.."

Oh. Oh no, Xewai didn't mean to make the girl cry! His earfins lowered just a bit, and he looked at her with a worried expression, his hand going over to squeeze hers.

But she didn't seem to cry for long, and the lips that came to his cheek caused them to turn a soft shade of purple. She was happy right? That's what kisses meant, or atleast he thought that's what they meant. And her own smile was met with a beam of his own, and a quick, gentle hug, before he pulled away again and rested against the treetrunk.

"They are special, but it's not me who makes it special. They do their own thing, they work hard and save people, and that's all I really want to do... Miss Aaricia, what is it that you wish to do?"

Aaricia couldn't help smiling back. This was the most affection she'd been able to give or get since coming to Oba. It was a nice change. Most of all.. she was just glad all of the guards were inside with her father. They knew she was too intimidated to run on her own~

The question made her bite her lip in thought. Could she really confide in Xewai? She didn't want to get the Matorian in trouble. Could she let herself hope? ...Hope wouldn't hurt. Hope was what she needed. "I.. I wish to know that my mother is safe." She whispered her wish, as though afraid that saying it out loud would catch her father's attention. She lowered her gaze, looking at the purse in her hands. She wanted to go home so badly, but she knew she would be pursued. To her, it was too high of a risk. She couldn't be so selfish. "My mother and my friend.. I want to know they're both alive and well..."
