Rhonann hated how nervous she was feeling. She'd spent enough days crossing into Tale and returning to Jauhar that she might've been in Sauti by now! ..Perhaps not literally, but it felt like ages. She had a history, and she knew where she had to go to start looking. Sauti was where she used to live. She had to go there!
However, with the road suddenly laid out before her, the spirited woman was a little overwhelmed. What if.. what if she didn't like the answers she found? Or what if she got there, and still couldn't find them?
Well, she wasn't going to find out anything by sitting in the town like a bump on a log! Forcing herself to stand, Rho went to make a quick stop at the market to refill a few supplies before starting her trip. This time, she was really going to go to Sauti!
It was as though her memory loss had made her free. Now, she was facing memories. A home. People she might know. While the unknown usually got her excited... this time, it scared her a little.

Market time~ Nadiya skipped through the stalls as she browsed through the wares. What could she take today? It wasn't like she needed much since she was such a light traveler. But still it was nice to pick through and see what she would have bought or could even still buy for her family back home. That scarf looks rather nice...maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing to have a spare. Smiling lightly Nadiya fingered the soft material before turning away.
Not today. Her features darkening for a split moment, Nadiya found herself distracted just enough for a small trio of younglings to race through. Twisting so that she didn't accidentally trip over one Nadiya actually managed to somehow lose her balance and swing into another stranger. "Oh sorry!" Flushing lightly Nadiya blinked at the young wind archer, "Are you alright?"

A couple fresh fruits, some dried ones, jerky... Rho had to stretch her money and trade supplies for as long as she could. After all, one never knew what would happen on a trip. Or in town, apparently!
With a small yelp of surprise, she spun to face whoever had bumped into her, bag dropping to the ground. Initially, her hand was cocked into a firm fist, ready to punch. Then she realized what had happened and quickly relaxed herself, reaching her other arm out to stabilize the Matorian woman. "Gonna need more'n that ta hurt me," she said with a grin. She gave her bag a quick peek and sighed. Thankfully, nothing in there was exactly breakable. "You okay though?"

Whoops! Maybe this was the wrong type of person to bump into. Flinching at the raised fist Nadiya raised her hands defensively before letting out a sigh of relief as the other girl backed down, "Glad to hear that." She quipped back with a relaxed smile, "I'm fine as long as nothing else throws me around."
The girl did frown as she noticed the fallen bag, "Did I ruin anything?" She asked with a hesitant gaze, "I can help recover or replace it if so. I mean...I might have not been the one to dance in on purpose but I still caused you to drop your bag." She flushed lightly as she twisted a stray strand of hair. She just hoped it wasn't too bad...but then again she could always play and refill her own pouch later.

Once she had the confirmation on the woman's condition, Rhonann squatted down to check her things. It was tempting to say that something was indeed ruined and get the girl to buy her more, but she couldn't bring herself to do that. The water gal really seemed apologetic. Now, if a certain annoying jerk had bumped into her... the bag would also have been run over by a couple carts, with her luck. "Nah. Looks like everything's good in here." She stood back up and waved her hand dismissively. "Nothing to worry about. Mostly dried food anyway."
A wet little croak came from one of her belt pockets though. Brow rising, she opened one up so that the foamy face of her spitorog, Mush, could poke out. "Ye're tellin' me that you're fine being crushed by a log, but someone bumping ya is a bother? I ain't buyin' it."

Nadiya pursed her lips uncertainly, "Are you sure? I really don't mind." Most you know would be fine with the girl dismissing the case, but Nadiya couldn't help feeling a little guilty. What if something important had broken? I'm sure I would have noticed or she would have told me. Nodding her head at her own reassurance the Matori pressed on, "I suppose it's hard to really damage dried food so alright."
The interaction between spitorog and wind girl, however, caused a laugh to burst out of Nadiya. "Oh my." Raising a hand to her mouth the girl shook her head with a light flush, "I'm so sorry little guy. Was it that bad of a bump? Do you need some healing?" She couldn't resist teasing, "I suppose I could get some bandages around that slippery skin somehow..."

One of Mush's eyes lolled slowly over to look at the stranger. A moment later, his other eye did the same, more bubbles joining in.
"Ah, don't encourage him," Rho said with a smirk, popping a couple of the bubbles with her finger. The spitorog paused for a long moment to let the fact that the bubbles had been popped sink in. "Bandages, eh? Ya want some of those, Mush? We'll just have to wrap up yer whole body. ..Not like ya'd move any less than ya do now. Ye're an embarrassment, ya know that?" The resumed bubble blowing made her snort, and she looked to the water girl playfully. "He's just a total flirt. A little spill won't hurt the food, and a bump won't hurt Mush."

Oh well this little guy was....adorable? If that's a word for it. Nadiya raised an eyebrow as she studied the strange creature. She had heard about these guys before, but this was the first time seeing one up close. As the bubbles popped she made a little 'oh' sound before glancing up at the wind girl.
"I guess he really loves the attention then." Nadiya teased lightly, "I've never seen one of these guys up close before, but you called it Mush?" She shook her head lightly, "I'm jealous. I see so many others with familiars, but I've never had the chance to really adopt or tame a creature. Must be...nice?" Though she had to wonder exactly how much trouble such a small guy could truly be. It definitely wasn't like some of the familiars she was used to seeing back home in Matori - especially when considering something like the snaptrotters.

"Wouldn't know it ta look at him, but, yeah. He likes attention." Rhonann looked up with surprise. "Oh, yeah. He's a spitorog, but I named him Mush." Jealous? She couldn't help laughing, and pulled Mush out of the pocket to hold up between them. The spitorog's legs dangled limply in the air, bubble spewing paused for now as his eyes slid around to take in his surroundings. "He's nothing ta be jealous of. This is literally all this guy does."
Her brow knit slightly. "Though, I did hear they're getting pretty rare in these parts. Not seeing them like they used to..." Shaking her head, she smirked again. "Probably from bein' so darned lazy. I found this bugger trapped under a log, and he wouldn't leave me alone after that. He's grown on me." She cocked her head curiously, and held him out a little further. "Wanna hold him?"

"He just bubbles and wiggles?" Nadiya blinked before peering closer with a smile, "It's not poisonous is it?" She hesitated with a finger hovering in the air near the wiggling body. It was oddly adorable despite it's strange staring eyes. Definitely was something she had never seen before.Seriously how did these guys defend themselves...or even do anything for that matter?
"Aww, I wonder why?" Nadiya frowned at the realization, "I suppose so many travelers coming through the area as well may have scared them off. Things definitely have changed in the past few years...just imagine the idea of a Matori and Sautian speaking before this." She chuckled, "Definitely not a common occurrence."
"I suppose the spitorog picked his owner in this case." Nadiya grinned at the small story, "You're his hero and it must have been love at first sight." At the offer the girl hesitated, "Ho-hold him?" Biting her bottom lip the girl finally held out both hands, "Are you sure it'll be okay?"

"Poisonous? Nope. The spikes are sharp, but that's about it." Her eyes rose with interest. A Matorian and a Sautian... Even this young woman could tell that she was of Sauti blood... "Yeah. Everyone's all over the place now, so I hear." Rho smirked lightly. "And not only that, but we're speaking in Jauhar lands. That takes the interest up a little, surely."
"I'm willing ta bet that attaching itself ta a person is how these things have lasted fer so long. I mean, they can poof up when scared er angry, but Mush doesn't do much of that." The hesitation caused Rho to smile. "It'll be fine. I don't see him changin' his habits anytime soon." With the blue hands held out, she set Mush down onto them with a hint of caution, making sure that both woman and familiar were okay before letting go and pulling her hands back. Watching the pair, she found herself pursing her lips curiously. She'd seen this girl before... but when? It didn't feel like part of her forgotten past. More recent, then?
For his part, Mush just stared at the new person with wide eyes, barely moving a muscle. Slowly, he cocked his head the tiniest bit, shifted one foot a wee bit for comfort, and blew out a few content little bubbles toward the water girl.

"okay so if I p***k myself it won't kill me, noted." Nadiya smiled lightly as she slowly inched her hands closer to the spitorog. He was rather cute...I wish i could have found something like this. But perhaps it was better she didn't...imagine what those bubbles would do to her supply of wooden instruments. A slimy flute may not be the best equipment...
"True, true. Who would have thought it?" Nadiya gestured around them, "Take a few more steps and we could meet someone from Oba or even Zena as well." Not that she saw many Zenans out this far, but still anything was possible these days! Speaking of possibilities...Nadiya frowned. She had been so distracted by the mush in her hands that the Matori was missing something.
Though the contented stream of bubbles that left Mush did serve to be distracting, "Oh!" Nadiya laughed, "That's just too adorable!" She blinked down towards the spitorog before glancing back up to the other girl, "Now this makes me wish that I could find one that was willing to attach ta me." Still, as she glanced up the rogue blinked. "By the way have we met before?" Surely she had met a multitude of people since leaving Matori years ago, but there was something about this wind girl that rang a bell or two...maybe even three.

Rhonann let her eyes wander a little bit. There really were many kinds of people spread across the land. She'd seen a few for herself on her trek so far. It amazed her that so many people were willing to travel and learn about others.
Looking back at Mush and the Matorian, she couldn't help giggling with affection. She had found the little blob quite adorable herself... It was delightful to see someone else share her affections for the rather useless creature. "Well, ya might get lucky yet. Never know."
So, the girl thought she was familiar as well? They must have met before... Suddenly, her brow rose with interest. "Oh! Oh! Yer that story teller!" Just as quickly, a bashful blush warmed her cheeks. "I'm 'fraid yer too early fer my story yet... Um.. don't remember yer name. I'm Rhonann."

"You think?" Nadiya's gaze gleamed with anticipation as she glanced between Mush and his owner, "That would be rather nice." She could always leave him in a side satchel away from her instruments. She had to wonder though did they make any noise on their own? Perhaps even a melody to play along with her own? The thought was amusing at least.
"Oh?" Nadiya flushed lightly, "Too early what...oh! Oooh!" In her excitement she almost dropped Mush, but at the last second the girl steadied her hands once more. "I remember now! You're the girl with the memory to be found." She grinned, "So I guess that's still a work in progress? Still, surely you've had some adventures here and there since we last met. Right?"

Mush slid a little, eyes shifting around with confusion. Once his platform had resettled, he resumed... doing nothing.
Rhonann grinned as the recognition settled in. It was.. quite a satisfying feeling; remembering someone. "I've got a couple hints back in my head, but.. most of it's still lost." She cocked her head slightly, a mix of emotions floating around. "Some, I suppose. Nothing worth putting into a story at this point." There was no way that jerk would end up in her story! "Ah. Unless ya count Mush there."
