Jeremiah had waited until his voice was no longer hoarse, until the smell of smoke and charred taste had left his senses. The detective lieutenant did not want to speak to his son while he sounded like his throat had been burnt. (It may have been, who knew.) Instead when it seemed to have cleared up, his voice only having the barest hints of hoarseness left, he had texted him to come over. There were some things to talk about. Algie had only left because he knew Zac was coming over to go get some things from the store, the idea of leaving Jeremiah alone not at all something he approved of. Jeremiah had insisted he would be fine for a few minutes until Zac arrived; it would be alright. The detective was situated on the couch, no notebook in hand at the moment but his 3DS instead as he played Ocarina of Time. It was just meant to be a distraction until he felt a little better and could do a couple things around the house. endejester text to: zac could you come over? there's some things we need to talk about. it's important.

He normally didn't abbreviate so much, but anxiety did spike at the message he got from his Dad. No real surprise these days, but at the same time nothing could ever really stop the feelings of anxiety when he had bad news or the warnings of it regarding those he cared about. He didn't knock this time, not like he had the last few. He opened the door with a called greeting of his arrival. "Dad? Dad are you ok? What happened?" His urgency was clear in his voice

"Living room!" Jeremiah called out to Zac as he heard the door open. Hellbine was lounging next to him, paws pushing against his thigh as the other turned towards the front door. "I wouldn't say okay but-" The sentence is not finished, instead cut off, because Jeremiah finds his world falling out from under his feet. The visions flash across his mind. There is a flock of birds in the sky and they are following him, though he is not sure why. They're constantly watching and he swears, for a moment, he watches as one of them drops something red and glinting. In the distance he sees her. Sunny. Her clothing is more befitting of the time of the Indian Princess but she still has that modern cigarette and watches as she lights it up with just a touch of her finger to the tip of it. To the rest of the world, while he is caught in this his body has seized and Hellbine is there letting out a very, very worried mew.

"Dad?" He freezes for a moment, alarm rising like needles prickling up the back of his arms, a pressure at the back of his neck and a growing lump in his throat and chest. Fear is a tangible thing and it's becoming perhaps too familiar where his guardian is concerned. "DAD?" HE called louder and rushed towards the Living room, tossing his book bag aside with a noisy thud and clatter as he reaches for Jeremiah. "s**t..Shitsh itshitDAD! Can you hear me?!? W..what's happening?" He demanded before cursing then at himself and scrabbling at his pocket to pull out his phone. He can't seem to get it out of his pocket for a moment, the corner of it caught against the inside edge of his pocket, and then it's free, flying, and clattering on the floor with him diving after it. He jammed his finger repeatedly on the unlock button with shaking hands. "Hospital, nine one one, s**t...s**t s**t."

Thankfully the time with Zac fumbling with his phone was enough for Jeremiah to start coming back around with a sharp wheeze of breath, as if his lungs had stopped a moment as well when the rest of him seized up. "Zac?" he spoke, voice rough once more. Jeremiah was pushing himself up into a sitting position and rubbing a hand across his forehead. "You don't-" he breathed out, "-need to call nine one one. They can't help."

“W...What the HELL WAS THAT?!” He demanded. His hands were shaking and he almost hit the last ‘1’ but managed, somehow to hit the hang up phone button instead. “What the hell was that, what the hell what the hellwhatthehellwhatthehell.” He couldn’t stop saying it. He was crying, he couldn’t help it, they were just flowing and his breath kept catching in his throat. He knew on a level that he was hysterical. “What...what did you DO.”

"Zac. Breathe." Jeremiah's voice was hoarse, arms reaching out and tugging Zac close to pull him into a hug and hold him. "Deep breaths; in through your mouth and out your nose." A hand along his son's back, trying to calm him. Even if his body was protesting everything at the moment. "I cashed in my favor and it had unexpected consequences."

“YOU breathe!! If you keep doing this it’s going to KILL you!! It’s going to kill you dead dead! Not like… spider-eaten dead, not like horrible rotting dead…just DEAD!” He pressed his palms against his eyes and took deep breaths, in and out. “… The Favor with the Burning man then I assume, was it worth it at least? Please…please tell me it was worth it, tell me he had…some redeeming quality and warned you because I know you well enough to know you might have gone ahead ANYHOW.” He was trembling, and he felt sick, but there was nothing he could do about it now. There was nothing he could say that would change what had happened. “Is this going to keep happening? Is … is this going to kill you?”

Jeremiah flinched though it was thankfully hidden. The comment about being dead was rather poignant, especially after having felt Algie's distress over the situation. There was guilt (always there; never leaving) and it was hard to ignore with Zac as he was. He continued to smooth a hand down along his son's back, not unlike what he had done with he had been younger. "In the long run, I believe so." That it was worth it, that what he was dealing with and what he was putting his loved ones through was worth it. The other thing, however- "I don't know." It was an honest answer. "Alg says it's-" Jeremiah let out a stuttered breath and sighed. "As if I am having a seizure when it's at it's worse, a fainting spell at it's lowest. It happens multiple times a day." Blue-green eyes glanced away, looking to his notebook on the coffee table. "I asked for knowledge and that is what is causing it. My mind- It is just overwhelming my body."

Zag made a soft noise deep In his throat, something between a groan and a sigh. What other sound could you make when your Guardian seemed to be actively trying to… to… “Are…they getting more frequent or less frequent?” he whispered. It was a testament perhaps to how worried he was that he didn’t even try to ask what information had been so important as to risk life and limb this way. Zac loved information, but this was his Guardian, this was Jeremiah.

"They're fairly constant. I was doing worse when Alg found me." Jeremiah let out a breath. "I don't actually know how I got home. Alg found me in bed, I was in bad shape-" The hoarseness was still there from his throat having felt burnt. "I couldn't really speak, my throat was ... burnt but it's improved."

"Like Autumn." He said sounding troubled and introverted again. He swallowed hard, but at least he hadn't been the one to get the lungs burned out. "She went to the Hospital for that... why does he do that?" He shook his head. "What did we ever do for him to try and hurt us like that?"

"Similar," he admitted. "I don't have the stomach to eat anything that's crispy or charred for the time being." Jeremiah ran a hand through his hair. "... and I've been drinking cold drinks." No warm tea for him, at least he hadn't tried yet anyway. "It faded in my case, after a couple days. My throat is just sore now." Blue-green eyes flicked to Zac and his arm squeezed around him. "I don't know he offered me other information. Tried to make me pick something else but I didn't. He's ..." The silver-haired man trailed off and shook his head.

That earned a startled look from Zac. "...like, he tried to warn you?" He asked cautiously. "That doesn't... god he makes no sense at all" He shook his head frowning. "I mean, it must, but at the same time it dosen't fit with what he's done before, unless maybe it's because you took his favor, I just. If he tries to warn you again, please listen? Please?"

"I will do my best," Jeremiah replied, smoothing a hand across his face. He paused for a moment, looking to the bone ring that was now on his pinky. It was ignored once more as he looked to Zac. "There was one thing he said that was unsettling on top of everything else."
