A favor for the Spinel Lady She sees you approaching and holds up a queenly hand. "Darling, would you do something for me? I'll make it worth your while, and it won't be too terribly onerous--" The Lady smiles, all sharp teeth and dark eyes. "--I have my boys for that."

To successfully complete the Spinel Lady's favor, you must roll three six-sided die. These will select your solo/duo story elements! If an element has (Fail) next to it, disregard any further rolls and write a short post relating how you got there. You may then retry, but only after your first post is filled!
If you're soloing it, you just fill in that post with your character's progress through the favor. Should you choose to RP this favor with another player (or more than one friend!) please make a thread in the event forum and link it in your roll post when you're done.
FIRST DIE: What has she asked you to do? 1 - Request a waltz from the orchestra pit 2 - Locate one of her servants 3 - Entertain her with a human poem 4 - Refill her glass of wine 5 - Ask an otherbeing to dance 6 - Check that the food on the other tables is still well-stocked
SECOND DIE: How do you feel about this? 1 - I'm not pleased, but I hide it well. 2 - I'm neutral about it. 3 - I'm enthused. At least I don't have to do anything weird! 4 - I'm neutral about it, but I paste on a happy smile. (Fail) 5 - I'm apprehensive about it, but will give it a try. 6 - I'm ******** pissed. How dare she. (Fail)
THIRD DIE: Do you successfully perform the favor? 1 - Yes, but in an ungraceful way. (Fail) 2 - No, but I got a really funny story to tell the Lady when I get back. (Fail) 3 - Yes, and it's perfect, because I'm perfect. 4 - No, and I think I need to get new clothes before going back. (Fail) 5 - Yes, and it took some doing, but I did it. 6 - No, but I did something else I think the Lady will like. (Fail)
Please quote shibrogane when you're done for information dispersal!

[ Temperance: 25/25 does not read much poetry] "If you wish," she said, discomfited even by the very appearance of the woman. She reminded her of a doctor Temperance had once met - all teeth and eyes that never smiled. The woman, behind her mask of black lace and red gems, seemed both powerful and dangerous. Haltingly, Temperance began to recite a Robert Frost poem, stumbling over the words. The woman held up a slim hand again, stopping her. It was clearly not up to snuff.

"Darling, would you do something for me? I'll make it worth your while, and it won't be too terribly onerous--" The Lady smiles, all sharp teeth and dark eyes. "--I have my boys for that." Alg of course was attentive, especially to women with a commanding presence. No matter how uneasy she made him feel, how uncomfortable the behavior of those around her (people he knew who were not acting themselves), Alg was ready and willing to help. It had been ingrained in him by the women who filled his youth. "What can I help you with?" He took her hand in his, his hand warm and gentle as her fingers perched lightly on the edge of his own. She needed to find someone, one of her servants, possibly one of her boys. The way she spoke of them left a bad taste on his tongue and an uneasy feeling in his gut. It was like witnessing abuse and being unable, or unwilling to step in. But Algernon wasn't aware of the arrangements that lead to this hierarchy, nor who she truly was to command all of them with such little effort. They all seemed very devoted to her. "I'll be right back-" He murmured in Jeremiah's ear, kissing his cheek gently before he stepped away, not feeling much anxiety about the task. It was a bit of a relief really, find someone and come back. It could definitely have been worse. The ball was full of servants, all wearing ruffles or lace to rival the guests, some draped in fabric, but none were exactly who he was looking for. A vague description had Algie away much longer than he liked, peeking in rooms, halls, and in and out of conversing crowds until he found the servant in question and informed them, very politely, "Your lady is looking for you. If you'd accompany me back." Alg returned, servant in tow, and smiling successfully at the lady. "As you requested." shibrogane PASS. Shun Kuroda | 25/25 Being an errand boy Shun didn't immediately approach the Spinel lady after his encounter with Thorne. After his poor attempt at a joke earlier, he figured it was best to let some time pass. When he did manage to make his way back towards the woman, she had stopped him with a request. She wanted him to check the food at the other tables to ensure they were well stocked. An... odd request, but it was simple enough, if not slightly demeaning. It could be far worse, though, he supposed. With a nod, he turned to do as she had asked. All the while, the things Thorne had sputtered out in the Emerald alcove circulated through his head. No doubt she demanded perfection. It reminded him of someone else... The detective performed the task efficiently, lingering no longer than he needed to at each of the tables. Once everything had been checked, he returned to Melany before too long. "All the tables have been well-stocked," he reported.

To Shun, there is a slight nod. She hasn't forgotten his shitty attempt at a joke. Algernon, however, receives a pleased smile, which somehow seems to lack so many teeth as her smile at Thorne earlier. "One good turn deserves another, dears. Six of us are on the committee to choose the tithe... but a seventh will be chosen before moonrise by the deer triplets."

So this time, the Spinel Lady wanted her to dance. The good news was that Autumn was a balling as ******** dancer, and smiled brightly at the request. She turned with a flourish to find her dance partner, eager to dance the pants off the ******** (not literally, she hoped), only to stop in her tracks at...
a plant. Okay. How the ******** was she expected to plant-dance? Well, whatever. She'd already made an a** of herself several times in front of this woman, and if Melany or whoever wanted her to dance with a plant, so be it. Autumn approached the creature, and with a polite curtsey, asked the seemingly lifeless plant if it would entertain her with a dance.
Several dances later, large leaves on her arms whirling her about the floor, Autumn found herself laughing. Were she slightly more sober, she might've mulled over how ******** odd it was that she was presently dancing with a plant. Who was a stellar dancer, logic be damned.
She returned, sometime later, cheeks flushed and smile bright. Autumn offered the same curtsey to Melany, not letting her earlier ******** get to her.
"My apologies for my earlier missteps, your ladyship. I've enjoyed your party a bit too well, and I'm not at my best," she apologized, fully owning her drunken shenanigans, "but I've completed what you requested of me, if you'll accept my sincerest sorries."

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Being generally useless as a living
So, while the Spinel Lady (Melany?) set his teeth on edge, he did feel bad for being awful earlier. He didn't want to be on her bad side and so, while he didn't like her, he was willing to do a favor for her. Her request was pretty easy too, just requesting a song, and he hid his displeasure as he walked away from her.
But it was a busy crowd and there were a lot of people talking and Chris, who already was not enjoying the moment, completely forgot what song she had requested. What was it? He fumbled his way to the orchestra and managed to grind out a song request, trying to spot her and see if it was right.
It was not. Well, s**t.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || tipsy
"Right, your boys. Of course." Alois parted from the Spinel Lady and made toward the orchestra pit at the far end of the room. A waltz. Am I supposed to know which one to pick? The hell am I supposed to know what her waltz tastes are. He wasted little time considering her tastes and focused on his own instead.
Snapping his fingers, he caught the attention of the conductor. "Ze Spinel Lady wants a waltz. Shostakovich Waltz No. 2 should suffice-"
Yet a server accidentally shoulder checked him, and a plate of hors d'oeuvre spilled across his shirt. Alois ground his teeth.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Still being useless.
Okay, so he failed at the song. But she asked him to dance with an otherbeing and while, Chris wasn't exactly thrilled to do it again (the frogs from before had worn him out pretty well) he would give it a try. He was trying to get on her good side, so if anything this would be the easier task right?
Two songs, an immense amount of confusing footwork, and a flustered but luckily not frustrated otherbeing later, Chris knew he did not do this well but he had somewhat of a funny story to tell. Although, he didn't know if he wanted to exactly tell it to her.

jeremiah mercer || 25/25 || not happy She asks him to recite a poem and, without knowing why, he finds himself compelled almost to speak the poem before he can stop himself. Some say the world will end in fire,
From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice Is also great
The chill of his spine hits him hard, even with Algie's presence nearby and the masked silver-haired man finds himself having to take a moment away. To be treated like a play thing has never gone over well with him and the feel of her magic left his skin feeling oily. For the moment, he would leave it be.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || tipsy "Let's try zat again," he commented to himself. Much of the appetizers came away from his shirt, and the waiter finished wasting his time by apologizing profusely. The orchestral pit hadn't yet heard his request, apparently, because they started on another song that certainly wasn't a waltz. No, this sounded far more like ballroom music than anything else. He crossed through more of the crowd to get closer to the arrangement of otherbeings playing their instruments, and paused only to grab attention when very near the conduction.
"Hej," he said again, and went unnoticed. "Conductor." Nothing.
Finally he closed enough difference to tap on the shoulder. "Spinel Lady has a request. Shostakovich Waltz Number 2. Get on it now, please. Before she turns me into one of her 'boys'." He stepped away then, as the conductor motioned for space. Alois was familiar with this - the grace and vigor of the arms as the conductors hands formed the usual j-patterns for tempo. It left him wistful, he realized, and yearning to touch another piano. Never once had he done so in the service of Ezra. Never again would he do so.
Not if this tithe pertained to him. Finally he left the orchestra behind, and mentally he savored the first notes of the new song during his winding path back to Melany. He did not like the look of her. "A waltz," he broached, "and one of my favorites. It should do."

jeremiah mercer || 25/25 || getting trolled Algie has left to find the restroom, leaving Jeremiah alone for the moment and she smiles at him again. It is not a smile one ignores, not with the way she sets off his danger sense and the fact that her teeth are too sharp, just as Sunny's once appeared. Again, she asks, recite me a poem.Of man’s first disobedience, and the fruit Of that forbidden tree, whose mortal taste Brought death into the world, and all our woe, With loss of Eden, till one greater man Restore us, and regain the blissful seat, Sing heavenly muse, that on the secret top Of Oreb, or of Sinai, didst inspi-It takes a great force of his will to stop, to push back. To stop himself from launching into the entire thing. She laughs and there is that smile at him. Too sharp, too knowing. Jeremiah is scowling now, not quite sure he enjoys the fact that she flaunts, so obviously, that they are play things. His skin crawls and this time it is not because she reeks of danger.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Concerned on why his clothing keeps getting ruined.
The more he offered himself for favors, the better he seemed to get at hiding his displeasure. So when she asked him to go check the tables for food, Chris gave her a very polite "Yes Ma'am", a bow, and then turned on his heel to take a look around.
He was about done with his task too, when a rather excited bear managed to bump into Chris, leaving a large smear of cake on his shoulder and on the collar of his top. Sighing, he went for another trip to the bathroom. He couldn't show up like this.
