A favor for the Spectral Artist

Prividaniye laughs at your approach, blurry and faraway. He says something... well, anatomically impossible, to start with. But on puzzling it out a little more, you think he might be asking you to tell him about your friends...
PostPosted: Fri Aug 19, 2016 8:35 pm

To successfully complete Prividaniye's favor, you must roll three six-sided die. These will select your solo/duo story elements! If an element has (Fail) next to it, disregard any further rolls and write a short post relating how you got there. You may then retry, but only after your first post is filled!

If you're soloing it, you just fill in that post with your character's progress through the favor. Should you choose to RP this favor with another player (or more than one friend!) please make a thread in the event forum and link it in your roll post when you're done.

FIRST DIE: What is the topic of your friendfiction?
1 - A murder mystery!
2 - Pretending to be dating
3 - Sweet romance fic. It's cool to ship your friends, right?
4 - Smutty fantasy fic. Whisper it very quietly.
5 - A horror story!
6 - A joke. (Fail)

SECOND DIE: What's the plot twist?
1 - HE WAS DEAD ALL ALONG! (Fail) (Even Prividaniye knows that one.)
2 - An eleventh hour confession!
3 - One of their friends was replaced by a pod person.
4 - A secret family relationship is brought to light.
5 - None. They single-handedly defeat the Enemy and live happily-ever-after.
6 - A poorly-written will

THIRD DIE: Is it a good story?
1 - Yes, but I'm not the most attention-getting storyteller. I think he fell asleep.
2 - No, but I think I amused him with it anyway?
3 - Yes, it was perfect, because I'm perfect.
4 - No, and I think I mortally offended him.
5 - Yes. But it was ******** up. He is impressed by how ******** up that was.
6 - No, but I think it was so bad it was good?

Please quote shibrogane when you're done for information dispersal!

Chester Poole: 25/25, telling a horrible joke

Chester had no idea what sorts of stories a man without a face might want to hear about his own nonexistent friends, but he was most definitely steering clear of jokes. They rarely went over well, and anyway, he was terrible at telling them.

"Okay," he said under his breath. "A story."

"Did you hear the one about the fire at the circus?
It was in tents."

With no idea what had happened, Chester closed his mouth tightly enough to bruise his lips and backed away, staring unblinkingly at the man's lack of a face.

Autumn Smith Telling the story of BUT WHO WAS PHONE
Okay, yeah, the whole dead-all-along thing was pretty bad. But how was Autumn supposed to know this guy knew that? All these mystery beings were, well. A mystery. How they'd kept up with human literary standards, she'd never know. Instead, she sighed to herself, folding her arms. She was just going to have to try and think up a better story.

I HAVE SPECIAL PERMISSION TO JUST TELL AN AWFUL SMUTTY STORY WITHOUT ROLLING

Finn considered Prividanye's request for a long moment. Then, a sly smile crossed his face, and he leaned close to whisper in what he assumed was the faceless man's ear.

While his voice was too low for the whole story could be made out, those standing especially close could catch the occasional snippet - "gagged and bound" "glitter j**z" "for the pleasure of the entire guest list."

He took a step back, grinning.

"So," he said. "Does that suit your fancy?"

[Temperance: 25/25 is PLAGIARIZING]

She tapped her lips thoguhtfully once, then began to tell the tale of one poor Susan and her stay at the Hotel Bat-... Baggins. Hotel Baggins. "Well, eventually, her head grew heavy and her sight grew dim. Susan had to stop for the night." Temperance described the hotel in detail and the strange noises Susan heard and the fine purveyor of the establishment: Zac.

'Relax,' said the nightman, and he was Jordan, smiling placidly, here to soothe any worries. The tale she wove was a mix of Pyscho and the song Hotel California (lyrics inserted at random). Temperance got a little technical as to exactly where the victim - poor Susan! - was stabbed and how it severed a tendon and which veins and... She cleared her throat and continued the gruesome story. It was, of course, revealed that Zac's mother was none other than Zac himself dressed as her and under a delusion! Luckily, Temperance had seen the movie quite recently, so she knew what to say, although she did take the liberty of adding it odd supernatural bits from the song.

"And," she ended with. "Much like this ball - some dance to remember, others dance to forget."

Chester Poole: 25/25, telling an awful story

He returned a short time later, contrite and apologetic.

"I don't know what I was thinking. That joke... it was terrible. If you don't mind, I'd like to try something else."

Chester couldn't discern whether or not the entity cared, but he continued on anyway. "I guess I can tell you a story about my parents. I consider them friends, I suppose. So... one night, about twenty years ago, my mother found a ghost in her parents' attic. The guy she called to exterminate it was my father. And..." He swallowed, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "...the ghost was my grandmother! And my father killed her for the second time!" He tried to make it sound like a true and compelling tale, but it was mostly a waste of everyone's time.

"Sorry. Again."

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Really tired but Trying

Chris wanted nothing more to maybe lay down, or go sit in a corner, or really anything that didn't involve doing whatever someone wanted. So when he was asked to tell about his friends well, Chris was willing to oblige. Even if he wasn't the greatest storyteller.

It started out like a horror story - although, Chris wasn't entirely trying to hard to make it start out like that. It just happened that Ashdown and its Otherworldly counterpart made a great setting for it. But the more he talked, the more he realized he didn't want everything to end in death. He wanted a happy ending, a good ending, and damn it, he was going to make it happen in fiction if he couldn't have it in real life.

"And.. that's it. The end," He finished, sounding rather tired and hoping that it disappoint him too bad. By the way it looked, he probably wanted to kill Chris.

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - improvising

Nathaniel decided, then and there, that storytelling was not his forte.

Neither were jokes.

"What does a nosy pepper do? Get jalapeño business."

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - improvising again

Nathaniel decided that maybe a better tactic was to actually come up with something that wasn't ridiculous. Or maybe something that was ridiculous and that just sounded as though it made a good story, and what better way to do that than a good, old fashioned murder mystery?

"...and then, the butler said, as he stood above the body, 'I did it. I killed him.'"

Well, maybe he wasn't the best storyteller, but at least he was trying.

Never let it said that Jeremiah cannot attempt a joke.

Except that apparently he should have not tried one from back home.

Apparently for all that he should have been better at this, Jeremiah was starting off with jokes and that simply was just terrible.

Jamie Delacroix | 25/25 | telling a really weird story about Shiloh and Oliver

If there was one thing Jamie could do and do well, it was talk about his friends. Not to say he had very many, unfortunately. Quite new to this whole 'friend thing'—it was difficult to bond with classmates who gave you swirlies and mocked your social incompetence, after all—only Shiloh's name really stood out in his mind. The only other people he spoke to on a regular basis were either twice his age or considerably older still, and well, making up stories about them sounded even more awkward than making them up about Shiloh.

He really couldn't just brag about how great Shiloh was? It had to be fantasy?

Tapping his fingers together, he started to tell a story. He talked for a moment about Shiloh, he told Prividaniye vivid details about his appearance, his quirks, his gruff but kind demeanor. Before he knew it, Jamie was on a roll and could't stop.

"I think he might have a crush on someone," he said, sounding almost like he was telling the truth instead of playing make believe. Call it wishful thinking. "Because sometimes he looks happier. It's almost like the circles under his eyes aren't even there."

Pausing for a moment, Jamie sighed. Would this really do? Would the gushing be enough to gain him the information he sought? Something told him no. Maybe that something was wrong, but in the next instant his story took on a rather strange turn.

"It was supposed to be a secret..." he whispered, clasping his hands together. Jamie really did have a vivid imagination and whoops it sure was getting away from him. "A family secret." His voice grew even quieter then, lower and ominous like he was spilling the beans on something very sordid. "He has a brother you know. A twin brother. Identical. His name is Oliver and they're really very different."

Was this weird? Yeah, this was really ******** weird, but Jamie kept going because he had goals and because Shiloh would never, ever find out about this. Or so he hoped.

"I heard... they were... together." At some point Jamie had closed his eyes. Now, at this very moment, they shot open, sparkling a vivid blue. Then, his voice went deadpan and he said, "I think people on the internet really like that sort of relationship."

Wouldn't anyone be impressed by how ******** up that was?
