Time for a new search to go underway. Harley wanted to get going as soon as possible. They had just seen the child afterall. "Um... Samhain...." Even though her golden eyes were obscured from view, she didn't make eye contact. "M-maybe we s-should head out." She didn't want to leave the other so soon, but she thought they might cover more ground in a smaller group. Maybe they would travel faster. "But... Only if you want to!" Her ears hung low and her tail trailed sheepishly on the ground. "Just a thought..." She cluctched the flashlight Nashira had let her borrow, turning to point it away from Samhain and contemplate where to start looking.

Samhain was still a bit shocked at the kid. He had a feeling that this search was going to be a bit of a pain in the butt, especially if the kid was playing tricks on them. He could feel his other half’s irritation bleeding into his own. However several breaths later and the fact that no one was hurt calmed him down. Just in time to hear Harley’s request. “Yeah the kid couldn’t have gotten too far, and I wouldn’t mind, I would really like Nashira to take a rest. She hasn’t since she got injured and I want to ice that wound of hers a bit more.” Setting things up, he adjusted his pack and looked at the stretch of dark forest in front of them. Where to start? “Well the little…” Samhain trailed off. He had been about to say little s**t, an indicator that Salem was not calmed down. “The child seemed to have run off in that direction. It’s a good place to start”

Harley agreed that Nashira needed some rest. She hoped Azure would be able to do something to help her out since they seemed to be into the medical field. She nodded as Samhain spoke. "Let's just do our best to avoid the plant prickly things." She started to make her way around the spikes. She still couldn't believe that the kid had done that. She shined her flashlight on the ground to make sure they were clear of them. "Be careful of more tricks like that..." Who knew what lay in wait for them in this forest. She could only imagine what traps or obstacles they might encounter.

“You know I had a sinking suspicion about the kids when Tomoe was talking to us back there and asking for help. However I was kind of hoping it was part of his personality. I am starting to see why he was so ragged, should have probably asked more about the kids’ personality. Oh well we offered our help. I do agree though, I have a feeling if we run into that child again we’re going to be in for a lot more pranks” Samhain sighed walking around the spikes and wishing that the forest wasn’t soo dense that he could just glide a bit. Especially since Grimm didn’t wear shoes… then again Harley was in the same boat as well.

For the most part, Harley didn't have to worry about the plant spikes on the ground. Though, if they were able to get in between her dark cloven hooves, they would be a real pain to deal with. She shuddered at the thought, wanting to keep her injury free record going. She almost forgot about her tail, it picked up quiet a few from dragging along the ground behind her. She realized what had happened and picked up her tail to examine it. "These things are always a pain to remove from fur..." She sighed "Better to get it here than on skin, right?" They soon cleared the hazards and she looked around. "Where do you thing they went off to?"

“Yeah I remember the small version in Below. I hated walking through a field and having tons of those to pick out and they always snag on something.” Samhain agreed shaking his head at the not so fond memories. Now it was back to tracking the kid. Well he knew what that one smelled like at least so now he could hopefully track them a bit better. He was a bit worried since while his grimm blood seemed to be the most dominant, full blooded grimm where almost always better trackers when it came to smell. “Well I would assume that way, but the kid had some funny smells on him so I don’t know if I’m smelling this right. Plus I’m not a full blooded grimm so it’s my best guess.” Samhain admitted sheepishly rubbing the back of his head and using his free hand to point in a direction.

Harley listened to the other carefully, taking in what he said. She was hardly any "pure blood" of anything, so she didn't mind at all. At least he was trying, and he was actually on to something. "Well, I don't have any heightened sense of smell.... From what I can tell anyway..." She gave a awkward laugh, "But at least you'll get us on the right track. I'd be taking us blindly through the forest..." It dawned on her that she really didn't have anything remarkable to off to help find the children. She was just winging it and hoping for the best. The hybrid hung her head low and sighed. "Let's go then." She made her way to the direction Samhain was pointing.

Samhain stopped for a moment, having looked over to see Harley seemed to be kicking herself. He knew the feeling, and he often berated himself. He just had useful skills this time for this trip. Other times he was utterly unprepared for what life threw at him. ‘You know I might have heightened smell but it’s rather brave to go looking through a darkened forest you’ve never been in to help someone. The fact you’re helping when a good chunk of people wouldn’t counts for a lot, and sometimes it takes just picking a direction and blindly walking us through the forest for things to happen no matter what skill set you have.” He finally ended up speaking, giving a rare smile before he started walking again

Tears were threatening to leak from her eyes as she continued to doubt herself. Harley listened quietly to her travel companion as he spoke. She didn't say a word until Samhain finished, and her words threatened to betray unleash her tears. "That... Or foolish..." She sighed, knowing that Samhain was only trying to help. "I-I'm sorry..." A small tear escaped as she quickly wiped it on her sleeve. "It's just hard to try and be positive. But we have to look for the kids. Thank you for trying." And by trying she meant looking for the children and trying to cheer her up, though she wouldn't say anything further thinking that the flood of tears would be unleashed. She pointed her flashlight ahead, trying to keep on track.

Samhain nibbled on his lower lip as he continued to watch Harley, although it wasn’t as if he wasn’t keeping an ear out for the kids, it was dark enough that even with the flashlight it was better to rely on other senses. “Oh I know all about doubting yourself. I’m…. I’m not as well put together as I look. The point is, is that as long as you try it doesn’t matter what skill sets you have. Yeah I can smell them somewhat but this forest is making it really hard to keep track of them and if we stumble across water I’m really screwed. Life would be boring if we weren’t a little bit foolish. So don’t worry, you’re helping the kids plenty. However yeah let’s go find the little prankster.” He did make a note however to hunt down Bebe when they got back to Nashira. Maybe the pink Bakeneko would have better luck then he seemed to be having.

Harley was grateful that Samhain was trying to make her feel better. She even let out a little laugh, "I guess you're right. I'll just have to do my best." She did her best to keep her chin up and keep moving. They needed to find those kids. that's why they were there. They weren't here to mope or feel bad about themselves. "I hope those kids are safe... I wonder how the other groups are doing right now." She looked around the dark forest. "I hope they didn't get anyone with their pranks." She hoped that the kid didn't have anything that would actually hurt someone in their bag of tricks.

“See that’s the spirit, and hopefully having better luck but if they ended up chasing this kid, they’re probably getting pranked. I mean Tomoe was having trouble finding them and he sounded like he does this a lot. Hopefully though the kids slip up and we catch them soon.” Samhain replied and then frowned as he could have sworn he heard something. Oh wait Harley was talking, swiveling an ear over to show that he was listening he stared at the spot. It didn’t sound like earlier where it was the wind in the bush, and he knew that smell…. “You hear that?”

Alright- one dog-girl avoided again---.... But there were more of them. Ugh. How many were there in this forest?! It was getting to be ridiculous. Tomoe was in deep trouble, that was for sure!
Just to assess the damage, Meimu crept a little close to the two as they walked-- though he froze up at the sight of Samhain. Did... that thing have four tails? He frowned to himself, thinking... It wasn't like him, this thing had wings and its hands were all wrong...
It seemed to have heard him, though. Meimu quickly gathered up a couple of slightly-sharper-than-necessary rocks into his little hands, then emerged just long enough to hurl them at the intruders before disappearing into the bush again - all without a word.
