Aodh was not expecting anyone to come up to him, let alone help. He had made an enemy out of the pair of twins that lived further on the block and most of the others that were his age had moved out or lived in dorms or just were not around.
So when he heard a voice, he actually jumped a little. Sometimes, after Blackfriars, he spooked a little easier. "Ah, sorry, I'm a little-" He wiggled his fingers as if to say gun shy but not actually say it. It took him a moment to realize who it was because it had been years, at this point, and even Aodh himself was no longer the gangly, scrawny short teenager he had been.
"Mel?" he inquired. "That you?" She was a little older than him but that didn't mean they didn't know each other. It was hard not to when you grew up in the same neighborhood and everyone's parents knew each other.
... and gossiped about you to each other.
