Mano had gone out early, leaving the camp behind so that he could head into the ocean. One of the best things about being back home was being able to dive into the warm ocean as often as he wanted. It wasn't just for playing around though but so that he could also go after the plentiful fish that was within the oceans of Matori. Trident in hand the green haired Mano had decided that he was going to go after a variety of fish, so that he could figure out which ones his Honey liked best. Once he knew what sort of fish was Kyrian's favorite then he was going to be sure to go and fetch a lot of that kind of him any time he liked. The idea of being able to spoil him through fishing and cooking being something that brought a smile to his face.
Once he was submerged he started forward in the water along the surface, looking down as he went, seeking out some good sized fish that would be able to sustain them. He spotted one that looked pretty good both due to its and size and due to the species that it was. That particular fish was one that he rather enjoyed himself and hoped that Kyrian would also like. Caught up in the pursuit of the fish Mano nearly missed the dark shadow that went passed him, then much to his displeasure said shadow went after the very fish that he was after. Its jaws snapped down on the creature and went swimming on by, his stolen fish in its maw. He gritted his teeth slightly before he blew some bubbles in the water and continued on. Fine, fine... that was just something that one had to expect was all. Snaptrotters were a thing in the oceans of Matori so them showing up to steal fish was always a possibility... though he would really need to be careful. He didn't want one of those stealing all the fish or picking on Kyrian. At the same time he didn't want to be forced to kill the reptiles either since from the looks of the one that took his fish it was an adolescent.
Heading forward Mano dove under, breath held, as he spotted another of the fish that he was looking for. He saw a second shadow, slightly smaller then the other, swimming toward his fish again. It was something that had him shaking his head before he thrust his trident forward, spearing the fish before the other could steal it. It caused the two snaptrotters to turn their attention to his fish and he realized that he now had a problem on his hand... well, more accurately two problems. He was definitely going to need to chase them off or else they would keep stealing the fish that he was after. Said fish were distracted by Mano after all and not looking toward the snaptrotters as they came rushing in from the sides to catch them. He wouldn't risk losing his meals because the snaptrotters were wanting to be sneak thieves. Not on his watch.

After catching the first fish, something he returned to the shore and put up as high as he could, Mano heading back into the waters. Now that he knew that the scaly little pests were about he knew that he was going to have to be more careful. He didn't want his fish to be stolen but he really didn't want to be bitten by the creatures either. He wanted to get his hands on the fish, to feed his Honey and himself, and make sure that they were safe. That meant chasing off the snaptrotters though. At the same time he found himself wondering if there was something else he should do. Should he try to catch one of them? He knew that there were a hundred and one uses for a snaptrotter if one got them young and trained them by hand. He could use the creature to help him to fish, could be used as a guardian for the camp, and they were strong when they got big and could carry all manner of things as well. When it came to travel one would be very useful.
He supposed that if they started things with him that he could always try to capture them in the midst of his fishing. If it didn't work, no matter, if he caught one of them then that would be great! He was good no matter how the attempt turned out he thought with a bit of a smile on his lips. Diving under again he started to kick his feet rapidly s that he could strike forward with his trident, spearing it through a fish... and a moment later sharp teeth were snapping down on said fish.
Instantly it became a battle as the snaptrotter threatened to steal his trident along with his fish. Gritting his teeth shifted himself, kicking forward best that he could under water at the reptile. His foot collided with its head, causing it to jerk to one side. Half his fish was lost to the snaptrotter but instantly the beast was swimming away from him with it. It was fleeing with the fish, obviously not used to earthlings fighting back against it. The other snaptrotters hissed at him before whirling around, following along after its sibling as quickly as possible. They were heading toward deeper waters which he hoped meant that they wouldn't be causing them trouble anymore. There was always the chance that they would come back of course but for the time being at least they were gone.
Once he was done fishing he have to head back to camp and warn Kyrian, but for now he had to concentrate on the task at hand. Getting rid of the snaptrotters, even if he'd been unable to catch one of them, was fine by him. He just couldn't allow that to be a reason for him to give up on his fishing. He had more mouths to feed then just his own after all and he couldn't allow himself to be distracted by something as simple as some little snaptrotters. After going to the surface to get himself a breath he dove again, watching as one of the two snaptrotters reappeared, looking as though it was going to try one last run on his fish...

As the snaptrotter came rushing toward him, seemingly after the half a fish that was still stuck on his trident, he reaching behind him to take out the stringer that he was planning to tie his fish with once he got enough of them. For the moment though he used the piece of rope to attempt to lasso the creature in a quick, though not to well planned out, attempt to catch the beast. The rope caught the creature around its snout and he suddenly found himself being dragged along by the creature. It seemed that the moment that it was tangled up in the rope it started to panic, its speed picking up that much more, pulling Mano forward by the rope.
Giving a mental string of curses over how poorly this was going for him he released the stringer, allowing it to fall free from the snaptrotter. As the young beast fled as quickly as it possibly could away from him while Mano headed up to the surface to get himself another breath of air. Once up there he couldn't help but to laugh, "Ahhh... oops... that didn't really work, did it?" He shook his head before diving again. Time for him to return to his fishing now tat he was certain that catching a snaptrotter just wasn't in the cards for him. He'd have to focus on fishing instead because that was something he could do far better then snaptrotter wrangling it would seem. A smile on his face he dove under, resuming his fishing, keeping an eye out for the return of the snaptrotters until he had a full load of fish and was ready to head back.
