Adria had been managing, but not really succeeding anywhere. He was powering up, trying to do his job, but ultimately he wasn't making great strides. The same old things were holding him back, and he was afraid to confide in those closets to him for fear of reproach or judgment.

He should have talked to Lysithea, but he just didn't want to let her down.

He should have done a lot of things, but instead he was out here, powered up and losing himself in his thoughts.

Which wasn't necessarily uncommon, but it was certainly more dangerous to do while he was powered up.

Being powered up meant he should have been able to sense energy signatures.

Being lost in his thoughts meant that he didn't, and by the time he managed to dig himself out of the hole his mind had dug for him, he was already almost right on top of a Negaverse signature.

His blood ran cold and he jumped, eyes flicking around the area immediately as he slowly began to back away.

Tinaksite hadn’t done much since she had lost the tournament. And in the first round too. And in front of the Pirate Prince that had invited her to this crazy costume party in the first place.

…Though the longer she did this, the more she was starting to realize that this wasn’t a costume party after all. It was something else. Something…odd, but not unpleasant. Not really unpleasant.

Tonight she was back on the job. Whatever the job was, and she held in her hand her wimpy tissue ghost, twirling it around and humming tunelessly to herself.

Or at least she was until she came upon some blonde lady who looked as though she had seen a ghost. But…she had! She had seen tissue ghost. That was the cause of the fear in her eyes. Tinaksite looked at the small thing in her hand and back at the girl. Why…she was in funny clothes. And felt odd. Felt…sweet. Overly sweet. Like one of those sweet scented candles, the ones that made her stomach so upset.

Finally the lieutenant took a step closer. “Who?” She pointed at the senshi, a look of puzzlement on her face.

"Uh," Adria replied, faltering with real words. He tried again, only to get another, "Uh…"

He was still slowly backing up, eyes on her—but her weapon didn't seem lethal. Not that it really meant anything; he knew the Negaverse could just…summon reinforcements or something. Maybe she could have an army here with a snap of her finger.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and finally managed a weak, "Adria. But—look, I didn't come here to cause any trouble, so let's just…keep it peaceful, please. I really don't want to fight."

He held up his hand, as if in surrender; he'd fight if he had to, but he hoped she was the reasonable type who would be satisfied with just words. And hopefully not mean ones.

Tinaksite blinked, holding her ghost up higher, hoping to scare the girl. …Or was it a girl? She sounded like a guy when she spoke…a pretty guy though.

“Adria. You are a girl?” She took a few steps closer, swinging the dumb little tissue ghost in a circle, and pointing at herself with her free hand. “Tinaksite. What are you? You are a part of the costume party? But not on my part, I think.”

English was such a stupid language. So useless at times. Maybe she would work on getting a bit better at it.

Or maybe not. “You are afraid? Of me? I am frightening.”

"What?" Adria blinked, momentarily stunned at her first question. "A—what?"

He had to look down at himself quickly, as if he were afraid his body suddenly changed without his knowledge. "No, I'm a boy," he said slowly, eyes flicking back to her. There was question in his eyes. "I'm a Senshi, and not part of the Negaverse. And I'm not afraid of you," he insisted, either to save face or because he didn't want to encourage her.

"You just startled me. And…I haven't had the best run-ins with Negaverse agents, I guess. You're not bad, are you? Not…you know. Out for blood?"

He tried to stand a little taller, make himself look a little more masculine. He knew his outfit was pretty, and would have been more flattering on a girl, but sans the exposed stomach he had thought he liked it.

Now, he crossed his arms awkwardly, as low as he could, trying to conceal any bare skin.

Tinaksite pursed her lips, her arms falling to her side. Well. She was a boy after all. That was odd. The look that the lieutenant gave Adria was clearly one that was nothing but judgment. “A senshi? I have never seen one before. Are all of you like…you?” She looked him over again, smirking just a little as he tried to cover his stomach.

“I think you are afraid. I would be afraid. I am very scary.”

Finally something came to her. From the words her general had told her when she joined this crazy party. Senshi. Those were the ones she was supposed to be protecting the city from. As understanding really dawned on her, the smirk faded to a scowl. “Oh. You are a senshi. I do know what you are.”

Adria's lips pursed and he was determined to keep his eyes locked to hers. "If you haven't seen a senshi before, you must be new," he said, and despite it all he relaxed just a bit.

If she was new then she wouldn't have been at the invasion. She wouldn't have a vendetta against him.

"I'd rather not be afraid of you, so please don't try to do anything. I'd rather just talk. I get that the Negaverse and the Senshi aren't exactly best friends, but…where's the harm in talking? I mean—I've got magic, and…is that your weapon?" he asked, eyeing her little ghost.

Her, thankfully, harmless looking ghost.

A small light of interest entered Tinaksite’s eyes. “Magic? What do you mean? How do you magic?” She looked at her ghost and almost pouted. Senshi got magic? The bad guys were people who got to do magic tricks? That wasn’t fair…she could have done magic tricks if she had become a senshi?

Whaaaat?

The pout grew on her face and she took a step towards Adria. “I don’t believe you. You can’t do magic. I will stop you, senshi. You are the bad guy and I am mighty!”

She lunged, swinging the ghost around, trying to whack him in the face, and maybe punch him with her fist too.

Adria seemed surprised and hastily stumbled backwards. "I don't want to fight!" he blurted once more. His eyes had, foolishly, been on the ghost. He hadn't even seen the first until it collided with his jaw. He drew one hand up to cup his jaw and waved another through the air as if to dispel her.

"I can show you my magic, but seriously! I didn't come here to fight! I don't want any trouble, and I don't want to hurt you!"

He was already half turned away from her and looked like he was going to charge in the opposite direction any second now. Tears had sprung to his eyes, partly from pain, partly from anger—mostly from disappointment. He was afraid, and he hated himself for it. He hated himself for getting into a situation where this was possible. He should have been stronger, or better at fighting.

Or maybe he just shouldn't have been going out, anymore. At least, not alone.

“So you give up? I win?” Tinaksite’s eyes were dancing with excitement. Why hadn’t her fight with the other guy been so easy? Why hadn’t she been able to win that? Clearly she was superior to this senshi…and clearly that meant she was superior to all senshi…so why hadn’t she won the fight? She won this one…hands down.

Well. So. Now it was time to end the fight with this senshi and go out and claim her victory against all others. He wouldn’t be assaulting anyone anymore, she had stomped all over him, and she was quite giddy.

Winning fights was one of the best feelings…even though perhaps she had a little guilt for hitting him in the face. Faces shouldn’t be hit…that wasn’t nice.

The lieutenant held out a hand to Adria. “You give up. I win. You should try harder next time.”

Almost instinctively Adria flinched when she moved her hand; a split second later he caught himself and grit his teeth, frustrated worse at himself. There His eyes had misted a bit, and though he didn't want her to see he looked at her face to her hand and then back inquisitively.

She wasn't trying to attack him, he thought, and so he managed to relax just a bit. It didn't help that his face hurt, but he couldn't taste blood and that meant it probably wouldn't swell up as much as the last time he got slugged.

His brows were knit and his lips pursed; he swallowed. "…Okay," he said, though seemed extremely wary. He had no idea why she was offering her hand, but hesitantly offered his own, still holding one up to gently brush his bruised face.

Tinaksite took his hand and gave a firm shake. “You tell them all that Tinaksite beat you, yes? I might not have beaten in the other fight, but I beat you! I won!”

She was so stupidly giddy at that thought and after the handshake was completed, she paused and reached up, touching his cheek. “Sorry for your face. I should not have hit your face. I was wrong. Feel better, senshi.”

And with that, Tinaksite moved away, walking off into the night with a clear spring in her step. She felt like she had really done something worthwhile…fighting senshi was her job, and she had done her job…so that was good. She had done good.

Adria just looked confused after she shook his head. He had been taken aback by the handshake but ultimately seemed relieved. He had bristled when she reached for his face, but the sensation of her gently brushing it was strangely soothing—not something he would have expected from a Negaverse Agent.

Especially not the one that slugged him.

He watched as she went and, while he had no intention of telling anyone what had happened, he couldn't help but wonder if that was the new Negaverse. Tinaksite seemed like she wasn't bad…sort of.

He rubbed his cheek once before deciding he'd had enough face punches for a while. Maybe he would text Cambria later, but for now he just wanted to hole up in his room for a bit.
