You know, it wasn't often that Xewai found himself surrounded by Quhar and carts. It was a rare day indeed, since it was one of the first 'guard' missions that he had been in since the Buhawi had changed it's mission. But what exactly did this caravan need protection from? It wasn't as if the Matori people went around robbing carts!
Ah, either way, it was a nice way to get paid! Not that he was doing anything useful right now. Sure, they agreed to bring him along as a doer (go do this and go do that), but there was only so much you could do when following a row of carts to the Oban Border. Heck, it was break time now anyway!
It really was a beautiful day for traveling. The caravan had stopped for an hour or so for lunch, and with most of his duties finished, he decided it would be a good time to lay in the grass and get a quick nap in while the sun was still gentle and warm. It was so pleasant, especially with how nice the Quhar sounded as they grazed relatively close to him. Maybe they were just a little TOO close. It didn't take long before Xewai found himself one of their victims.
"Ack!! No, Mr. Quhar! I am not edible, let me gooo!" He whined as the gentle beast began to graze on his hair. He would admit, it was a luscious green color, and it blended in well with the grass that they stood on, but it was NOT a tasty treat! And with the way the beast held him in place, and his own position in the ground, he couldn't exactly get up without startling the thing.. He didn't feel like getting trampled today.
"Could I get some help please?" Try as he might, he had no idea how to loosen the beastie's grip on his hair, not without hurting it. Gah! It even felt like the Quhar was laughing at him!
Tasinei Start for you! I hope that works!

It was rare that Alassiel took on mercenary jobs, she wasn’t fit for the job and she didn’t exactly like the prospects either. However, once in a while she did take on the odd job here and there that might involve fighting and this was one of those instances. Some Matorians had come to her asking if she could escort them across the border. Alassiel had wondered at first why they might as her and why they needed an escort, but she didn’t ask. After speaking with Z’ran they decided she could use a bit of traveling and so she ended up taking the job.
The Shifter had met up with them at their meeting spot with Rygha and then they’d set off on foot next to the cart. Her snaptrotter still wasn’t quite large enough to carry her long distances and so he walked next to her, glancing around once in a while and probably wondering why they weren’t enjoying the beach as they usually did. Near lunch time they picked a spot to stay and relax for a bit and Alassiel shared some of her lunch with the snaptrotter before sending him off to hunt on his own, she couldn’t possibly feeding him all of her packed lunch.
When Alassiel heard the shout, she stood up and grabbed her trident before stalking off in the direction. Rygha joined her silently as they moved with a quick ease and found… One of the Matorians with a Quhar. The Shifter frowned lightly before letting out a loud laugh. She moved towards the beast and gently began pushing it, when it wouldn’t move she signalled Rygha to move in closer and that got its attention. It moved away and released the Matorian.
Alassiel moved closer and extended her hand down. “Need a hand?”

Honestly, Xewai knew the laughter was coming as soon as he cried out for help. Heck, he would have laughed too if he saw a person being gnawed on by a Quhar. Sure, the beastie wanted to eat him, but normally they were just calm and huggable creatures. They couldn't be blamed if he looked delicious!
From his position, the young Matorian couldn't really see what was going on, but it only took a few moments for him to be released. When he saw the woman offering her hand, he graciously accepted it. His hair was thick and heavy with Quhar saliva, and he felt it slip down his back and shuddered.
"Y-yeah, thank you... Who knew the Quhar could be so dangerous? Hahaha..." Once he was up on his feet, he smiled at the woman, releasing her hand and began the long process of squeezing out the drool and bits of grass out of his hair. "Thank you for your help! I uh... I probably shouldn't nap so close to them any more, but they are just so nice! Oh, uh, I haven't met you yet! Are you part of the caravan too?"

Alassiel put her free hand to her mouth to stop herself from chuckling again. “Indeed, quite the dangerous beasts.” Oh how she wanted to laugh right now! Rygha looked between his rider and then boy on the floor and wondered what was so funny. Then he eyed the Quhar, narrowing his eyes and leaning down closer to the ground.
“Stand down Ryhga, you already ate.” The snaptrotter glanced back at Alassiel and seemed to sigh before backing up next to her.
“Yes I am, I’m helping with security I guess you could say?” She didn’t really know how else to explain what she was doing. “I’m not going into Oba though, just taking them to the border and coming back. What about you? Are you with the caravan?”
The Shifter figured as much, but she could always be wrong. “Should have napped closer to the caravan if that’s the case!” Poor guy wouldn’t have been over taken by the Quhar.

"So dangerous and big! It's like they knew, watching and waiting to gobble me up!" The outrageous of it all just caused him to laugh loudly, watching as the drool in his hair started to pile up at his feet. Xewai's eyes did wander over to the snaptrotter, and he watched in awe at how readily it followed it's master's instructions.
"Security, huh? You're doing a fine job already, saving unfortunate little Matorians from the jaws of certain digestion!" Settling on a job of half-wrung hair, he wiped his hands on his pants, before looking around at the caravans themselves. None of them looked particularly like the one he was traveling with specifically, but eh, he knew where he was going anyway.
"Yeaaaaaah, you're right, you're right. I don't even see my people right now, but it's fiiine! Don't worry, I'm good! And the Quhar are just so warm and cozy! And they don't smell as bad as some of the other beasts I've traveled with, so... Yeah.. I'm Xewai by the way! And your snaptrotter is super cool."

“Yes I am sure they were just waiting for one of us,” Alassiel chuckled softly. He was going to have to clean out that drool from his hair. “You know there’s a small stream nearby if you want to get that gunk out of your hair,” she pointed to his head as she said it.
“Well thanks, I do try.” Security had been pretty easy thus far; she didn’t know what they were waiting for or if they expected trouble. “We should get back though and stay close.” She was technically supposed to be looking over the whole caravan but she was happy to have found him.
“Nice to meet you Xewai, I’m Alassiel.” She glanced at her snaptrotter. “That’s Rhygar, still a growing little bugger but he doesn’t bite.” The Snaptrotter looked up at the Shifter in response to his name being called. “Still training him, but he’s docile enough.”
