It can thrown at an opponent once to poison them, dealing 1 damage for 3 turns. After this it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 91-99: Heart's Blood: You manage to collect a vial of the creature's blood. It can be used once to replenish 3 HP, at which point it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 100: Metal Feather: Once per battle, you can backstab with this small dagger. Add 2 to your final damage. This item is reusable, and remains in your inventory.

She could do this. She had killed one of the other birds already by herself, so Beaulah's confidence was at a high. That wasn't always the best thing, being too confident made one foolhardy, but hopefully just this one time it would work to her advantage. As she readied her bow Beaulah ventured outside, releasing her first arrow into the closest bird. They got her as well, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other times she had been hit. In a way this was making her stronger then ever before, allowing her to gauge pain like no time in her life. What might've made her cry once upon a time was now just a normal occurrence.

The same bird as before came at her again, clearly set for revenge. Ducking she was barely able to avoid being hit by a huge thing of dung. She couldn't get over how gross it was that the threw their own dung. Sure it also hurt, which sucked, but it was more gross then painful really. Setting up another arrow the bird surprised her by attacking her from the back and not only getting the back of her coat but causing her to drop the arrow she had in her hand. She knew the coat wouldn't last much longer, especially if she didn't watch her back. "Come on Beau, that's fighting 101, never leave your back exposed."

Despite the little pep talk she gave herself Beaulah was attacked again, this time as she was grabbing the arrow off the floor. She didn't want to waste it, even though she did have a good amount still left. When she got back to camp she would have to work on learning to make her own arrows. It wasn't hard, at least she didn't think it seemed hard, but it was something she needed to learn. She was pretty sure that although she had enough arrows this time there would come a time when she would run out and either have a useless bow or make her own. Lining up the arrow with her bow Beaulah searched for the bird, ready to get the revenge she now craved.

As soon as she saw the bird she let go off the arrow, aiming for it's head. Although she didn't hit it's head, maybe if she would've waited a few more seconds she would've, she did hit the bird's left wing which made her smile. It was getting tired, she could tell, and with a few more well placed shots she was sure that she would be able to take it down. Although her back was starting to sting a bit, not doubt from where the bird got her earlier hitting the cold air, she ignored it. She had a task to do and nothing would stop her from killing that bird.

The bird's head was small, and that had to be her issue. She was aiming for a spot that was almost impossible to miss. Not only was the head small, but the bird was moving around and trying to attack her. Instead she decided to change things up, go for the birds body. It was a bigger area and hopefully she would be able to not only hit it, but bring the bird down. She knew all the body shots it had given her had already caused her to not be as strong and as focused as she would've liked. Letting go of the arrow she watched it fly through the sky and hit the bird right in the middle of it's body. It cried in pain as it flew towards her.

Not expecting the bird to come flying at her with such a speed Beaulah quickly knocked another arrow and let it fly, this time hitting the bird easily since it was coming straight at her. The bird fell to the ground as soon as the arrow hit it, and she took a deep breath. She had done it once again, killed her foe and made the place just a little bit safer. It didn't make her feel as good as when she took down a whole swarm with a group of others, but at least it was something. Her father always told her that every little bit counted.

Looking around she once again searched for anything useful that she could salvage from the bird. There was nothing though, and she was starting to wonder if this was really how the others were getting things. She nudged the bird with her foot to see it anything was under it, but no such luck. With a shrug she headed back to the hotel. She wanted to get her back looked at before she went back out for another fight with the birds, and maybe grab something to eat while she was inside.
