Before participating in this thread, please be sure to read this prompt.

Once new skiiers have developed skills besides a simple pizza stop, they can move on to the Rabbit Slope, a long and shallow path along and around one side of the mountain. This is the second easiest path to climb, and the second fastest task to complete.

To help carry the speaker, roll 1d6; this number is how far you manage to carry it. Roleplay out the lifting, chatting to other people if they're travelling with you, and the exhaustion. After you roll, you're exhausted for 3 OOC hours or until two other people post and roll in this thread, taking the speaker partway up themselves.

Once a total of 50 points is reached through rolls, the speaker is in place, and you can head back down the hill to the safety of the hotel.

Remember, you can only participate in one of these threads at a time, and cannot leave the thread until the speaker has been put into place. Please make sure to put in bold red font, at the end of your post, what the current total is.

Ernst didn't like looking like a coward. As other people from the Bunny Slope course headed toward other slopes he'd have clearly been noticed heading back to the hotel, of all directions. So he found his way to the second speaker, at the second easiest hill. Which hadn't been moved.

It looked like he'd need to actually get his hands on it, this time, if no one else had gotten started. He grimaced, bracing his shield against him in case birds showed up, and began pushing it, very slowly. He just didn't have the muscle in him to actually carry it. At least it was moving, even if the snow was beginning to pile up in front of it.

The group seemed to have splintered off and Marisol had no real reason for going with either. Except that she'd rather push around speakers than fight more birds at this point. Although with how heavy and large these things were, she wasn't sure how long that particular preference would last.

She placed her palms against the corners, fingers curling to get a grip, and began to push. She dug the toes of her boots into the snow so that her feet had some resistance. Whether it did much good--she stepped back, motioning for someone else to take over. This was worse than ballet, worse than practice, but she'd take the tax on her muscles over metal feathers and toxic s**t.

With the easiest slope done, Davor thought he'd move onto the next one, wanting to get the easiest ones out of the way so they'd at least have that should the other slopes prove too difficult. Ah, he did feel kind of guilty not moving onto the more difficult ones after that little warm-up, but... that would only serve as motivation to finish the Rabbit slope that much quicker.

He was a little pleased to see Ernst there, nodding at him in acknowledgement, and a little less pleased to see only one other person at this slope. Still, he shoved his shoulder against the speaker in an effort to push up as he heaved his weight forward again. Admittedly, maybe moving on so quick with no rest in-between wasn't the best idea. This speaker felt somehow heavier than the other one, wonder why? It budged a decent amount, at least, and Davor wasn't about to stop there.

Fortunately Ernst wasn't alone for long - or maybe it took seeing someone step up to motivate other people into working with him. Well, whatever the case, he'd take the help. He let - Davor and the girl whose conversation he'd accidentally made into Ayn Rand, to his immediate and great regret. Whoops. He hoped she didn't remember that, even if it'd only been a couple minutes ago.

"Hello, people," he said with a silly grandiose flair and a cute (he thought) wink at Davor. He took up the speaker again as they lagged. "I'm Ernst; this is Davor," he said to Marisol, eager to introduce himself and his rather taciturn friend (they were friends now, right? They were at least comrades in arms, after the multiple debacles with the birds). And maybe get off on the right foot this time. Ernst didn't like Atlas Shrugged, he swore!

"Marisol," she introduced herself. "It's nice to meet both of you." Although the circumstances were not the best. Far better than in a fight like some of the others she'd met. "I know neither of you are in my dorm. At least I've never seen you."

That said, she moved to take her turn pushing the stereo. It moved, not as far as it had the first time, but that was to be expected. Muscle fatigue was almost guaranteed with so few of them. Looking at the path ahead and behind, she gave a smile to the two men.

"Almost halfway."

Oh -- caught off-guard by that wink, Davor blinked back in surprise, before looking away and once again putting on that stony face, inspired into a similar, internal are-we-friends-or-still-just-battle-buddies crisis. Ernst seemed chummy enough already, should he try opening up a bit more? Ah, the perils of socialization. He was grateful that the other man had introduced him first.

Trying to muster up something approaching amiability, Davor returned the sentiment: "Nice to meet you," throwing in a compliment for good measure, "Making good progress." Indeed, the top of the hill seemed within reach! He heaved the speaker forward with another hard shove.

Damn - this girl might be tiny, but she had muscle. Ernst watched her push, or pull, or whatever appreciatively before moving in to take his own turn with the damn speaker. He didn't know what he'd do with only one arm - although Davor seemed to manage really well despite that.

"I'd wager that you're not from Dionysus' dorm, then?" he asked Marisol with a nod. Or from Hephaestus, although he figured Davor might eventually volunteer that information himself. He liked her, though - referring to them as dorms rather than gods made it all seem so much more normal, and Ernst very badly needed normalcy right now.

Making good progress? Yeah, these two were. Ernst's noodle arms, long as they were, couldn't get the speaker to make much progress at all now that he'd had to carry its weight for a bit. "This might work better if I worked on shoveling a path again instead," he said, snorting. He picked up his tower shield as though he was about to go do just that.

"No but if you want to take turns guessing," she offered. If they were going to be doing this they might as well have some fun. It wasn't the first idea of a game or the funnest but it might be something to pass the time.

She tried to give a shove and compared to her earlier attempts, it barely moved. This felt like it was going to take forever although she knew it logically hadn't been that long. With a breath, she took a step backward and turned to face Ernst.

"It couldn't hurt, that's for sure." It almost made the idea of a shield interesting because a whip would do nothing against snow. She couldn't imagine herself trying to do anything with such a bulky weapon though. There'd be little sneaking around with it, which was far from what she wanted.

Ah, now that was a good conversation-starter, thank you Ernst. Davor preferred listening, true, but talking seemed easier with such a small group here -- could three really count as group? For a moment, his thoughts turned to Erica and wondering where she could be. He'd found they'd made a good team with her, too, not that this Marisol wasn't helpful. He also found himself appreciating how much she added to their race to the top, even if she was clearly getting worn out now.

Ernst, well, Ernst was good too! But Davor could see the man was a little less sure, though it seemed redundant adding his agreement when Marisol already spoke up. His own war-hammer, which he'd neglected to even bring, wouldn't have been good for much except maybe busting the thing into smaller, easier-to-carry pieces but, well. He made do with just trying to move this one whole speaker along.

"I forget the names," Davor gave a half-shrug with the shoulder that was less sore, "I could not guess." These gods weren't the ones he'd grown up learning about, nor the ones he'd found himself serving later in life. But then -- did that mean the other gods had been false...?

...Now wasn't the time for a crisis of faith.

It did look like the other two were beginning to tire - they were making less progress than they had.

That was definitely what his shield was for. That and more birds, but it seemed like they'd taken a break now that it was dark, or something. Maybe those birds - or whoever, or whatever controlled them - had to sleep, too. So he turned his shield over to use as a shovel again, clearing a wide swath of snow in front of them so that the speaker had a clearer path, and so that they wouldn't need to push nearly as hard.

"I did some research," Ernst admitted. But he hadn't been an expert on Greek mythology in, oh, just about ever. He looked her over again. The muscle meant athleticism of some kind, which put him off from Dionysus (obviously), Apollo, and...maybe not Demeter, Hera, or Aphrodite, although those seemed like good possibilities if he ran through his whole list. The lack of recognition meant not Hephaestus. "Not Artemis, are you?" Imagine her and Erica.

She titled her head at the first man, giving a shrug as if to let him off the hook, wondering where he was from. It didn't seem like he was from Greece, at least, and maybe not America either although perhaps he just hadn't had to sit through Greek Mythology.

"Then don't. No harm, no foul," she smiled.

Putting her hands against the stereo again, she pushed, chuckling lightly at the guess. She could think of a few reasons that goddess might have passed her over, if she'd ever noticed her in the first place. It didn't really matter anymore but the portrayals of Artemis had always been rather badass.

"No, I'm afraid I'm not." Perhaps she should give them a clue but then there weren't that many gods to choose from, were there?

Awarding himself with another glance at what they had left, Davor was pleased to see that they were nearly at the top now. This hadn't been so bad, really, though it was a bit premature to celebrate. He was at least relieved that Marisol at least didn't seem to look down on him for not knowing what, actually, should've really been one of the first things he should've committed to memory... They were all meant to be working together, right? All Chosen, even if chosen differently. Plus, he felt a little guilty putting all this work onto Ernst. The mental work, that is. He liked to think they were all sharing the physical work equally.

Instead, he tried thinking of the tour they'd all gone on, anything he could've remembered from there. It didn't help that the names sounded so foreign to him in the first place, his accent certainly not helping matters. Clearing his throat, Davor tried the name'd seen written: "Ro-seyden?" Something like that, and probably wrong anyway. English was a pain when so many of the letters looked just like the Cyrillic he knew, yet sounded completely different. Wanting to spare himself any possible embarrassment, Davor focused back onto the task at hand. Ernst's shoveling had helped, at least, but there was no doubt he was wearing down.
