Atlantis stared off into the distance eyeing the sky as the sun slow sank into the earth. Her feathery-starry mane and tail swayed in the midnight breeze causing her to close her eyes to enjoy the feeling. This was her favourite time to think and daydream or was it night dream? Anyways, it seemed like she had chosen the perfect time to be out and about. The sky was slowly filling up with so many stars that their shine seemed to out brighten the moon and the show was actually quite spectacular. She knew that her mate Stargate would equally enjoy the show. A smile emerged on her face and a feeling of warmth traveled all over her body at the thought of her one and only. Just thinking about him brought back how glad she was that he became a part of her life. Long ago, or so it felt, she had been a drift… alone. Family had been separated and she had difficulty finding them. On that journey she had met Stargate. A handsome warrior that made her heart go pitter-pat, as cheesy as it sounds, when they had fought side-by-side against a nasty creature. Said nasty creature was dispatched quite quickly once they began to work together. As it turned out Stargate was also on a journey himself at the time, though he was not looking for family but instead his mentor.
Funny how afterwards things just seemed to click together. We continued onward from that battle towards finding those important to us. When she was but a foal there had been a space inside her that had remained empty and she had yet to fill it. When thinking of her parents she had once pondered what a love such as theirs was like. Oh how she wanted that and oh she had gotten that but tenfold when they both realized the love they had for one another.
Stargate grumbled for a bit trying to find the perfect place to settle back into a more restful sleep. “Oh Atlantis…stop *giggle* stop it. Why thank you I am pretty handsome.” A loud snore shook a leaf from a nearby branch. Awareness slowly began to wake him from his slumber. The warm was gone, why was the warmth gone? Through somewhat blurry eyes he looked around blankly with a frown. “For cryin’ out loud..” Stargate grunted and got up when he noted that Atlantis was missing from their rest stop for the night. “Is it too much to ask that she lets me know when she leaves the secured area.” A faint buzz started to come about and then a n** on his butt startled him. “…” Bugs. Great just what he needed…Not that that bugged him or anything. He let out a somewhat silent laugh. He was hilarious be quite. Anyways! Back to the real problem at hand! It was the noise he heard first and then a moment later Atlantis’ bright colouring. “Hey ‘Lantis, whatcha doin’ our here alone?” He projected calm for a moment barking out, “You know of the dangers!” He sighed before shaking his head in expiration. They had only known each for several months and yet it felt like they had known each other for years. “Honestly.” A stray breeze came along and he closed his eyes as it carded through his silvery-white mane. He liked the nights best as the day tended to be too hot and sticky for his body. He opened his eyes just in time to see Atlantis shoot him the ‘sassy look’ as he deemed it.
Atlantis inwardly rolled her eyes. Males honestly. “I didn’t go that far. I just wanted to look upon the stars for a bit as they seem to calm me and there are many out today.” She gestured with her nuzzle. “I can tell we are in for a treat.” Just then streaks of light coloured the dark sky. “Come and sit awhile with me.” The calming atmosphere seemed to call for a merry tune and so she obliged. It took her a few minutes to get comfortable once Stargate sat close. That was her que to start. The humming started off low and then seemed to bounce around the area in a haunting melody. It was a tune that she had not heard in a long time… a song in her foal years. Coming back to the present she eyed her companion and she almost broke out of tune by giggling. Stargate certainly could be cute at times. She watched as she head bobbled up and down trying to stay awake like a foal fighting rest time. Moving closer she used her body language to encourage him to sleep.
Stargate shook his head began to lie down to make himself comfortable as Atlantis suggested. It couldn't hurt to stay in this area a little longer and watch the sun rise before resting. That is if he did sleep during the day… His body would be tired but his mind would be running. In any case … ‘this is… nice’ and he would not change it for anything. The effect of her voice was already calming him and making him even sleepier. It’s funny how he always slept better when she was nearby or heck in general when she was around he was in happier disposition. The soothing tones of her voice seemed to carry him away and bring the peace he craved. Maybe there was something there but for now he just wanted to be lost in ignorance while enjoying the moment and not think about the future. They had been searching all these months for those they deemed important to them and he believed they were out there somewhere. They just had to keep trying.
