It wasn't too often anymore that Xewai found himself this far west in Matori. His normal home on the southernmost isle was cozy and comfortable enough that there was never really a reason to leave unless there was a mission. BUT it seemed like a few of the Buhawi wanted to take a trip to Baun in order to pick up something or another that Xewai honestly wasn't all that interested in.
What was REALLY appealing was going back to the small village and greeting all the people he met there previously! There were dozens of people who recognized him and his group from years passed, and he got more than a few pats on the head and 'look how big you've grown!'s from them all! He was more than delighted to receive it all! And sometimes some of the older people even gave him small trinkets and wonders he could add to his assortment of things back in his hut at home. He wasn't a little kid any more, so the items he got were much more useful than they were previously.
This time, he somehow got 8 different fish hooks. 8! And how exactly would he celebrate this wonderous gift? By being a fool and adding them all to one line. He knew this was an awful idea, but the looks on the other fisher's faces that kinda stood nearby as he set up his little wonder was MORE than worth it. He could show all these old fogies how it was done! Everything was tied securely and ready for the cast!
Unfortunately, it seemed like he, himself, wasn't ready. It was far heavier than the normal rod style he used, especially since he had to use a larger weight to keep all the hooks in the water. Instead of casting off into the sea with one swing, the weight was caught under the rags he wore about his waist, and when he tried to pull his arms forward to cast, the hooks scraped straight though his clothing. In their wake were long, deep cuts from a few of the hooks that managed to go in and out immediately, but two were still lodged in deep, causing the young man cry out, drop the rod and fall to the sand in pain.
The old people near by stifled a laugh and meandered away, muttering about the follies of youth and how he would be fine once he manned up a little bit, leaving Xewai clenching the sand in his fists while trying overcome the pain he felt. Even through it, he couldn't help but stupidly laugh into the sand at himself.
"Hahaha.... I guess... I'm the fish now... Hahaha.... Ow..."

Tera had slipped out early with one of his magical tomes in hand and Breezy, his keldari, wrapped lazily around his shoulders. He had a long night that seemed to be at first plagued by nightmares followed up by a black out moment, then him coming to sleeping on the deck outside of his room. His body was a bit stiff but at least it seemed thait his nightmares had been chased off for at least for a time. Now that morning had come he'd decided that a nice walk would help him to work the kinks ouf of his muscles. His walk took him away from home, down to his favorite beach, and he walked along it. "I don't feel as though I slept well last night." He thought that he'd slept a bit at least but he was still a bit on the groggy side. It was something that made him wonder if he aught to go find himself a nice, shady spot on the beach to take a nap? He knew that it was something Breezy enjoyed so maybe he should try it out himself? This thought in mind his walk continued with him seeking out a comfortable, empty place to lay down when a sound of pain caught his attention. It was something that sent a chill up his spine and drew a squeak from him, "What... what was that?" Glancing around he didn't see anything at first, but after rubbing the sleep from his eyes he found himself starring at a... fisherman? He starred for a long moment, head cocking to one side. What... was he doing? There were something that seemed to be amused by the young man's predicament but he found himself if, as a healer, he should step in? The voice in the back of his head so helpfully chimed in, calling the fisherman an 'idiot' and commenting that he needed to learn from his mistake. A thought that Tera pushed aside as he started toward the one who was currently seemed to be in bad shape. Best to check on him and see if he needed patching up, if nothing else at least he'd get a chance to practice his healing?

After enjoying the sand a bit longer so that he could no longer feel the stabbing sharpness of the hooks, Xewai sat up, spitting out whatever bit of the shore decided to take residence up in his mouth. They really did just leave him, didn't they? Just because he was an idiot didn't mean he didn't deserve help! Baaah, whatever, the old fishers were sometimes jerks anyway so it didn't matter.
What did matter was the fact that h e couldn't get up and walk until he cut the line. Sure, the hooks were in deep and in a place he couldn't reach, but if he disconnected the line, atleast then he'd be able to walk freely. But of course there was no blade on him to cut it. What else could he use but his teeth?
By the time he heard foot steps approaching, Xewai was gnawing on the line as best as he could, hoping he could work through it enough for it to break.
"Um, excuse me, sir!" He said to the man who was kind enough to head towards him. "I've had a bit of an accident... You don't happen to have a blade on you, do you?"

Tera found himself starring at the one that was requesting his help, then seemed to think about the question for a moment, "Ummm... no knife but..." He had his magic... though the spells that would be most useful in this situation were those that eluded him. Perhaps... he could make himself a knife? Well, not a real knife but at least something that could stand in for one? After a moment of thought he made a motion with his hand, drawing forth a makeshift blade created using his spell that allowed him to control earth and the sand at their feet. It was a very crude creation as he'd never used the power in such a way but if it worked Tera would be happy. Taking the 'blade' in his hand he leaned over and cut the line that the other Matorian was trapped by. Once the line had been cut he tossed the 'blade' aside, allowing it to crumble into sand once more, "We should probably get those hooks out of you and tend to your wounds." He told him, "Unless you have a capable healer you would rather go to." To be fair Tera was a novice still when it came to his magic and couldn't use half the spells that were in the arsenal of a normal mage his age... but still, he'd help where he could.

No, he didn't have one, damn! He supposed that just meant he had to be extra careful on his way back. Just as he had resigned to having to walk home looking a fool, he saw the man summon the sand blade and easily slice the line that kept him connected to the hooks.
"Oh... Oh wow, that's amazing!" There were no magical folk among those that were at his home base. Sure, there were healers and the like, but they were medicine men, not ones who could wield magic in the way this young man did. It was wonderful to see it in action in a peaceful manner. Xewai wouldn't mention the times when he had been attacked with magic. Hahaha....
"You can do that? We have surgeons and healers, but no magic... That doesn't matter though, they are all back on our island.. That would be a few days till we get back. If you could help in any way that would be wonderful! But you've already helped too, so if there's nothing else you can do, that's fine as well!" A small folk story came to mind when he was offered aid...

Tera blinked a couple times, looking a little confused. It was... amazing? He wasn't sure about that since it was a simple and very crude use of the magic... but he didn't want to argue, not when it kind of sounded nice. Compliments weren't things he got a lot so he meant to enjoy it he thought to himself before he took a step closer. He had to inspect the wounds that the other had given himself, finding that they weren't the best. He scratched himself with some of the hooks and others seemed to just be stuck in him. Not a good thing at all, that must hurt. Not much of a fisherman, huh? The voice in his mind seemed to be mocking the injured man but it was a thought that Tera chose to ignore. "You don't want to wait days like that you're bound to get an infection and a fever." Tera commented, looking around for a moment, "If we can find a less sandy place for you to lay I can look your wounds over." He told him. Better that Tera took care of it now or else the guy would have to wait days and he might just end up dying of an infection caused by the fish hooks that he had buried in his person.

"Yeah... Your idea sounds alot smarter than anything I could come up with. Way smarter... I think there's a nice big stone over there." Now that he was free, he could rise to his feet without dragging the rod with him. As long as he managed to keep his back straight, the pain wasn't too bad. Enough time on the ground made it change from a sharp stabbing to a dull hot feeling throb. And lucky for him, they weren't those large deep-fish hooks. Just small things meant for smaller fish.
After maneuvering around a bit to pick up his little make-shift rod, he walked a few yards further in from the water to where there was a long, flat stone jutting out from the sand. It wasn't incredibly wide but it was long enough for him to lie flat on with his feet off the sides.
"This would work, right?" He asked as he began to gingerly remove the top half of his now shredded wet suit. First came off the fishing line about his neck, then, once it was set safely to the side, off came his top, gently rolling off his arms and down over his shoulders. Xewai breathed in sharply as he felt the shredded fabric lift up and over the hooks still in his back, his eyes watering JUST a little bit.
After what seemed like a forever of an operation, the top part of his suit was now at his waist, and he finally laid down on the stone, taking comfort in it's sunbaked warmth.
"There we go... Let me know if You'd want me to do anything else. And thank you."

Tera couldn't help but to wince as the one before him stood up straight and started to walk along toward the rock that he'd pointed out. It looked rather painful and the flowing blood sent a shiver through him, but he followed along regardless. He would definitely make sure to patch him up fast so that he wouldn't suffer for that long. The scratches and embedded hooks looked so terrible, enough that it almost made Tera's back hurt. He watched as the younger man set to removing the top of what he wore best that he could to allow him to work on the injuries. Once he'd gotten himself out of the shirt he said, "This will work." The first thing they had to do was see about getting the hooks out, something that was going to hurt a bit given that they were stuck in their pretty good. If there was a way that he could... hm... wait! Snapping his fingers Tera set to digging into his pocket for a water skin, popping it open before he said, "This is going to be cold at first but it will help to numb your back a bit." Which would help as far as removing the hooks went. With that he used his magic to draw some of the water forth from the water skin in the form of a globe, moving it to rest against the stranger's back... before freezing it in place. The ice would numb his flesh in theory. After letting it rest there for a time he leaned forward and said, "Hopefully the ice worked and will help with the next bit." With that he set to work removing the hooks one by one with as much care as possible.

With the sun bearing down on him, the warm stone pressing against his bare belly, and the rhythmic throbbing of the injuries on his back, it wasn't very long before he was feeling pretty content. He'd have to remember this spot later for a nice warm nap when he wasn't suffering from infection prone cuts and things.
"No worries! I've jumped into the cold waters of Zena, I'll be fine!" That was a lie, but when cool older people were helping you out, you had to be tough, right? You had be brave and strong!
Yet the water on his back did surprise and sting a wee bit, only a little! Another sharp breath was drawn in until it was frozen right on him, to which he flinched and started to nervously chuckle about.
"Haha... Wow, that was... Oh boy that was cold! I wasn't expecting that! You told me, and I still wasn't expecting it! Hahaha..." His laughter was muffled by him pressing his nose against the stone trying to draw out the last bit of heat of it before all the warmth in his body was gone. It was as if the warmth of the stones and the sun didn't even existing anymore. There was just cold. But the numbing bit worked perfectly, and when Tera began to move the hooks, he felt nothing at all except the occasional warm finger brushing against his icy skin.
"How'd you get so wonderful at helping people? I mean, except for cold, but that is made up by your warm hands... It's really really nice..."

Each of the hooks that he removed from the young man's back were set on the rock at a distance for him so that he wouldn't risk getting them stuck again by accident. As he removed them he glanced toward him as he mentioned him being 'so wonderful at helping people'. It was something that made his cheeks color a bit before he said, "Just something I learned in hopes of helping a... friend..." He said, trailing off at the end, one fin ear giving a little twitch before he returned to work once more with the task. Once the last of the hooks was removed from the man's flesh, something he was so glad to be done with, he peeled the ice off and tossed it over his shoulder to land in the sand. It would melt away in no time, so he wasn't worried about it. "Hooks are out... but we aren't done yet. I still need to heal the scratches and puncture wounds." He explained to himself, lifting his hands up to let them hover over the young man's back, allowing his power to filter from Tera himself and into the other man in the form a healing spell. Once the spell was done he gave a sighing sound, leaning against the rock, working on catching his breath. That was a lot of magical energy expended through the various spells that he'd cast. He couldn't recall casting that many spells in succession other then in training and even those attempts weren't as tiring. Giving a smile he said, "You will want to watch out for the hooks next to you on the rock... and you will want to rinse the blood off since some is still clinging to you."

"In hopes of helping a friend... Well, you're helping me, so think of how many more people you can help! How many people you can make happy with your skills! Think of how many FRIENDS you can help! If you'd like want, we can be friends too! Then you've learned in order to help a friend and I'm a friend so your helping... Uh.. Your dreams of helping a friend came true!" The notion of wanting to help a specific friend didn't even cross his mind as he was finished being patched up. There were so many people in the world that could be helped and NEEDED help that it was hard to imaging wanted to help a single one specifically. Everyone deserved assistance, right?
Once the healing was done, and the ice removed he popped up into a sitting position, pausing momentarily once he was warned about the hooks still nearby, then carefully looked around. Once they were spotted, he nodded to them as if to say 'yeah, I'll be have this time, promise' and stretched, wiggling his back a bit to see if it was all good.
Everything was still kinda cold, but there wasn't any pain, to which he laughed out right.
"Oh Ubeli'ae be praised, you are fantastic! As if the goddess walks among us herself!" Xewai happily bounded to his feet, twisting and trying in vain to get a good look at his healed back, laughing all the while! Once satisfied in his failed attempts, he looked back to the older man, quickly kneeling on one leg in a semi-formal bow.
"You've helped me! You're rescued this silly youth that I am and healed him up as if nothing was ever wrong! For that I am ever forever thankful! Who knows what you have prevented with your amazing skills! I uh.. Hrm.." For all his flashy talk and excitement, he did seem to switch to a more thoughtful expression rather quickly. Alas, it only remained on him for a few moments before he was grinning once more.
"Like the tales of old, with the kind soul rescuing the trapped fish, I am in debted to you and I will give you one wish! But, I am not magical, so I can only do so much, but I promise you that whatever you ask, I will happily oblige in doing! I swear it on my honor as a Member of the Buhawi!"

Tera's big eyes blinked slowly as the other man spoke, seemingly misunderstanding what he'd said. Still, even as a misunderstanding that sounded rather nice. To think that guy wanted to consider them as being friends even though they had just met and knew nothing about each other... they didn't even exchange names yet! What a strange guy. "Eh?" He wasn't sure what the Goddess of the Moon and Ocean had to do with Tera taking care of the stranger, maybe because they had met next to the ocean? If he had to guess which had lead him here to help the younger male he'd of guessed Ome Essd or perhaps On'os... but he wouldn't say that, feeling that if the stranger wanted to send his thanks to Ubeli'ae that was his choice. A thought that made him chuckle a little bit, "Ahh... thank you for the kind words." Reaching up he carefully unwrapped the keldari from around his shoulder, setting her down on the warm sand at his feet, "Here you go Breezy, you enjoy yourself." He told the serpent who went slithering along to find a good, sunny spot, and curled up there soaking up the sun. He watched her go before turning to look over at the stranger again before he said, "I... it was something so grand... just something that a healer should do. I have the power so there is no reason to hold back." He couldn't use his powers to protect the person he'd learned them for so he should use them for anything else that could use them. Better then letting them go to waste. "Ahh... umm... huh?" Tera didn't quite understand any of that. He wanted to give him a wish because he was like a tale of old about someone rescuing a fish? Tera's confusion only grew as the other promised to do whatever Tera wanted happily... then swore it on his honor as a Member of Buhawi... whatever that was. After along, drawn out moment the voice in the back of his head merely declared the one in front of Tera as a 'complete moron' before going silent again.

Maybe it was because Xewai wasn't the most observant person in the world, or maybe because the pain had scrambled his mind for a little bit, whatever the reason, when he saw the keldari come off of Tera's shoulders and land in the sand, he was in awe.
"Woah... You have one too! Everyone has familiars!" He muttered a little bit to himself about saving up his money to afford one on his own one of these days. He didn't even know what kind to get, let alone how to take care of one! And after the whole incident with the fish... Yeah, maybe it wasn't a good idea until he had a hut of his own.
"Of COURSE it was something grand! To heal is to have a power that can only give! Atleast that's how I understand it. You give your efforts and energy to someone else, you make their lives better by simply existing near them. How could that not be wonderful?!" It was kinda interesting watching this man's responses. Xewai really wasn't trying to be confusing, it was just... This weird swelling of happiness inside of his chest when he saw and experienced the kindness of strangers. There was just so much good in this world, why couldn't everyone see it?
"Yes! Yes, a Wish! A thing, a debt, a task you'd like me to do to thank you for your service!" There was a moment of pause before his next action. What if the man didn't want anything from him? There were selfless people out there like that after all. "Or, if you'd rather me not, I do have some rock candy if you'd like some!"

Tera gave a nod of his head, "Breezy was lost, her species aren't from around here, and I ended up making friends with her." She probably felt lonely so Tera did his best to keep her company, bringing her out to bask in the sun whenever he could. He glanced at the stranger and asked in a curious manner, "Are you wanting a familiar too?" What sort of beast might this one want? It would have to be something with a lot of energy to be able to keep up with him that much was for certain. As there were more compliments thrown his way Tera found himself starring at the sand as his face, the back of his neck, and even his fin ears were starting to feel really hot. He was a really nice guy when it came to giving out such compliments, wasn't he? It wasn't that he never got any, he did from his teacher, but nothing on this level. It was almost embarrassing. Lifting his hands he used them to cover his face for a moment as he focused, trying to get his blush under control before glancing over at the other young man once more. Giving a little shake of his head he said, "I... I'm alright, there isn't anything that I need... I mean I healed because it was the right thing to do." He explained, not wanting the young man or anyone else to misunderstand him. Sure, in the future he considered charging for his services so that he could afford to get a nice little place of his own somewhere. That would be when his magic was more powerful though and his powers were worth paying for. For the time being though he was far too weak for payment, especially in the form of a 'wish'. As the young man went as far as to offer him candy he felt the voice in the back of his head bristle. As though being offered candy was an insult, as though Tera was some sort of weak child. Shaking his head again, more rapidly this time, he said, "Just your name will suffice."

"That's really kind of you... Making friends with someone who's all alone..." A small thought brought back memories of when he was young, of a young child on the other side of a fence, with small whispered promises of coming back and of running away together. His grin softened to a more thoughtful expression as he watched the snake-like creature enjoy the warmth as he had just a few moments ago. "Yeah... Maybe some day... Something warm and soft to the touch. Something that I can make happy as well, something to protect." The thought of needed protection never crossed the boy's mind, but the thought of giving it meant more to him than life itself in most cases.
But! That was enough of that thinking for now. He couldn't quite afford to care for a familiar. And a life on the road was no place for a young familiar either. But what he could think about was the lovely blush that seemed to overtake the older man by alot. He even covered his face! There was a mixture of pride and worry in seeing that for Xewai, since blushing was always hard to get under control.
"Wow... I just..." When trying to see more of the blush, he realized just how stunning the eyes of the man before him was. Just how sweetly the blush crept across his blue skin, and how his hands created a small alternating pattern between them and the tint of his cheeks. It wasn't a romantic feeling, or a feeling of lust. It was an innocent feeling of astonishment and acceptance of just another beautiful thing the world had to offer. "You're so lovely, like... Like watching the coral glow at night out on the ocean... Or the shining pink lilies within the blue lagoons... "
It was a shame that the older man didn't want anything. Xewai had the resources and the ability to do so many things, but without the motivation or request to do so, it was kinda hard to pin down his next move. A name though, he could give that.
"Xewai... My name is Xewai. An absolute pleasure to meet you! What is your name?"
