The grey lioness sighed softly, feeling the chill wind ruffle through her thick fur. Up here, on this high peek, well above the land below where her fellow pride members roamed, Wayra felt both at peace with the world, and very, very alone. She had come a long way in the years since her beloved had passed on, the pride had been scattered and then reformed, its lost pieces slowly returning to create a whole once more. And while the pride wasn't the same one that had been stolen from her in the great disaster, it was still hers. Her homeland, her family, her friends. Lifting her gaze from the far off horizon to the grey clouded sky above, the councilwoman released a great sigh, her hot breath puffing instantly into a thick white cloud only to be taken away on the sharp cold wind that raced over the moutains she called home.
This had become her favourite spot, high above the cares of the world, where she could look down on her beloved pride. Often she fancied she could see the past and the future from here, could see all the pain and sorrow of the land that had been torn apart, and the promise of a joyful, prosperous future in the cubs that scurried about below. Families reunited, new lovers just setting out on that same path she herself had trod years ago.
Another slow, lingering sigh left her and she watched the white puff of vaour as it drifted away, becoming part of the windswept wild all about her. "Ohitekah... do you watch us?" She whispered softly, her heart swelling with the familiar quiet sorrow of a love long lost. "Are you here, now? Part of the wind and the rock... Does your spirit still guard us, protect us?" Closing her eyes as the old ache settled deep and familiar in her chest she lifted he rhead, feeling the wind caress her face and move though her fur. For a moment she fancied she could feel him in its caress, in the gentle, loving touch over her cheek and through her mane. A chill traced down her nose and she realised it was a tear. She smiled. Uzembe spread his wings and took to the sky, humming to himself as he circled around and leisurely let the wind take him where it wanted. His wings were a bit of a mess, missing feathers and looking as unkempt as the rest of him, but they worked perfectly well. Flying was one of his favorite things to do, if only because it was very difficult for him to run into things or cause any problems.
Landing, however, was a little more complicated.
He saw some tall mountains ahead, and thought they would be a good spot to explore in peace. He did not expect a pride to be hidden somewhere nearby, and when he came in, far too fast, to land he was not expecting to spot a lioness out of the corner of his eyes. Was she crying? That just distracted him, and with a yelp he tucked his feet up and tried to shoot back up into the sky but failed to get his wings to agree with the split second decision. They continued on their landing trajectory, and he slammed face first into the ground without much of a buffer.
It was perhaps not the most profound or divine way for a god to make himself known to a mortal, and he huffed as he got his paws under him and pushed himself up, massive wings spreading out and shaking off a bit as he turned to look for the female. He spotted her and offered her a sheepish smile.
"Uhm. Are... you okay?"

As she gazed at the sky with all its many shades of grey, white and blue, she spotted something moving high above. It wasn't a cloud. And as it came rapidly closer she realised it wasn't a bird either. Her surprise increased as the white blur shot downwards, headed almost directly at her. It was.. lion shaped! Standing she watched as the stranger, one she guessed could only be a God of some kind, plummeted towards the rocky cliff face. Her excitement quickly turned to concern as he failed to slow down, then into worry and finally a sympathetic flash of fear as he ploughed face-first into the frozen mountainside. Wincing as he came to a stop she turned and took a few steps towards him, relief rising up as he stood and untangled himself from his crash.
A soft laugh bubbled free at his enquiry and she tipped her head, giving him a curious look. "That is my line..." She returned, finishing the short walk to stand before him, her blood red eyes skimming over him, searching for any obvious injuries. "Are you ok? That was quite a hit you took..."

Uzembe smiled at her, head tilted to the side, half covered in dirt and with branches and snow clinging to his fluffy, unkempt mane. At the best of times, he looked a little disordered, but this was ridiculous even for him. He shook his fur out as best he could, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Though, he was kind of used to this stuff by now. And most of the mortals he met, regardless of how stupidly he did so, seemed rather nice about his clumsiness. He liked mortals, actually, and was happy to hear this one laughing.
"Oh, I'm fine. I'm from a line of Gods used to taking some spills, so I've got some good genes for this kind of thing. Crashing into mountains and embarrassing myself, I mean. Not that I recommend it, if you can avoid it. So. Uhm. I'd avoid it, if I were you."
He chuckled, turning in a circle and spreading his wings, which were missing feathers but were actually just designed that way, to show that he was all in one piece.
"Thanks for the concern though! Ah... my name is Uzembe. Sorry if I umm. Scared you. O-or interrupted, whatever you were doing."

"Not a problem." She returned with an easy smile, watching as he showed off his wings, apparently proving that they were still all in one piece. She couldn't help but admire them, as she had only ever met one other god and he... well, he hadn't been much of a talker. "It is a pleasure to meet you Uzembe." She added, dipping a little in a short bow of her own. "I'm Councillor Wayra." She introduced herself. "I am glad you are unharmed." She paused, glancing at the trench his crash had carved in the deep snow. "Do you do this often?" She asked, curious as she looked back up a him. "Rearranging the landscape, I mean. I don't think you have overly embarrassed yourself. I can think of worse things to do upon meeting someone new." She smiled warmly, showing she meant no insult. She was deeply curious about her visitor, and happy to embrace a distraction from her earlier remembering.
