Running. That is what he was doing that evening as the daylight hours were slowly dwindling away. At first he had been poking around until he had come across a honey badger. Those dang things were awful but he hadn't realized that until moments later. No matter how many times he had clawed or bit at it, the thing did not die. Then it turned on him. Should have expected that but he had never seen such a creature. Thankfully it had only barely nipped at his tail. He was escaping it. No way it could follow so he just let his paws carry him away.
As he finally came to a slow he did not see the foul creature anywhere. He did notice a bright colored thing not to far from him. What was that? Tilting his head as if doing so would make it cleared. Heading towards it he grinned. What could this beautiful brilliance be that was catching the dying sun's rays?

And she was doing just that, basking in the last few rays of the sunlight, though she couldnt wait for the darkness to swallow the light, and the stars to grow brighter.
Star gazing was a favorite pastime of hers, she let her tail dance behind her, toying with the grass in a carefree manner, Cheetah's might not be on the top of the food chain, but she wasnt currently worried about her safety at the moment.
She tilted her head and let out a soft chirp, saying farewell to the day, and welcoming the night. She didnt have a clue that someone was approaching from behind, or that her coat was making her stand out as the sun faded from the land.

He was running to her, not at full speed but enough to close the gap between the two until he was slowing down so that he didn't scare her too bad. "Hey golden goddess!" Grin cracking the once plain expression. Wow. Up close she was even prettier than before. It was like a thousand golden suns were touching upon her. Even the browns on her were lighting up in the light.
Everything was a plus because she was also a cheetah like him! "You ready for the night too?" Green eyes sparkled with curiosity.

She jumped, but laughed about it. She had been caught up in her own thoughts, and still hadnt been aware of him until he spoke, she turned towards him, sitting now with a smile on her face.
Well, if you were going to be surprised, it might as well be by a handsome fellow such as he!
Mossy green eyes sparkled as she nodded, "Oh yes, it must be one of my favorite times of day. Along with those magical hours when the darkness and light are shifting, almost mingling. Its like two forbidden loves, getting a fleeting moment for a brief touch, caresses." She was a hopeless romantic, and sometimes, it left her head in the stars and meant she wore her heart on her shoulder, out for the world to injure.

The way she spoke no wonder the light had caught her fur and lit it up the way it did. She was beautiful inside and out. The way she decribed the joining of light and dark. It was just amazing. He liked it. "Twilight and sunrise. Both also great times of the day. I agree with you. Night by far surpasses both of those. The blanket of darkness that envelops the world, threatening to swallow it whole. Then giving us but a mere bit of light to guide us through."
The darkness was slowly but surely swallowing the world as he said. The perfect time. "The darkness has fallen." Looking up to the cosmos and watching each star glimmer. "Look at them." Getting brighter as the sun finally dipped beyond the horizon and the night fell upon them. " My name is Reißlaus, but you can call me Rei." Still staring at the heavens above them.
