Well since this forum is about life, I'll tell everyone a little about what's going on in mine. I'm moving! Yay! But at the same time I'd rather not. I'm moving two states away from everyone I know; family, friends, co workers, everyone. But at least I'll have my husband, until he goes out on deployment again. Then I'm just stuck with his dog that doesn't like to listen to me, is half the size of me, and have I mentioned that I am not a dog person? Packing is driving me crazy. I can't take my cat because it's the family's animal and I don't want to uproot her from everything she knows. And finding an apartment that is willing to take a dog over 25lbs is proving way too difficult. It's a good thing, but it's also a sad thing.

Try some basic animal bonding techniques? Maybe talk to him about either having the doggo put into some training or maybe rehomed while he's deployed. Moving is always stressful but look at it in a positive light. Friends and family can be visited. New places are exciting and hold lots of new ways to make new chapters. Things could always be happening for worse reasons so chin up there.

Yeah, I've noticed that he's pretty hyper, he likes to jump on me and claw at my shirts ... And everything smells like dog xp Like, whole rooms, and it just makes me feel sick. I'm gonna have to invest in a lot of fabreez. ... Did I mention at all that this dog was a Christmas present from his mother to both of us before we even got married? xp I had been against this dog since day one, but he already loved the thing before he'd even seen it. And he lives on a boat, so I have had to take care of it because he can't have animals on his boat.Oh yeah, I mean right now in Olympia where I live the weather's not too bad, it's been ~90 for the past two weeks give or take a day or so in between. Which, everyone says is training for Cali xd I think I might burn for a while though.

Dogs are pack animals... if you aren't pack alpha they don't listen to you... you have to show the dog you're strong enough to be pack alpha in place of the real alpha.

So, update time;
I made it to San Diego, living in a, for now, very empty apartment. Just have to wait until the 1st or 5th for all our stuff to get here. We'll figure it out. Any tips for surviving California?

Its in the body language. Dogs communicate through bodylanguage. You have to have confidence. You feel it, they feel it.

Moving is always a pain, but you'll get through it!
As for the dog, I think it is unreasonable to hate it just because you are not a dog person or just because it doesnt listen to you. With animals, you have to take time to bond with them, let them get to know you, and earn their trust. It's like with humans, kind of. If the dog means that much to your husband, it would be very nice of you if you could love his pup as well smile emotion_c8
