WORLD

LOCATIONS

What do Kahi’iko villages look like, and how are their homes constructed?
The Kahi’iko enjoy dual level houses that sit throughout the river. For the smaller settlements, these homes branch out across the river like a bridge, but the biggest settlement is forced to keep the homes near the shore because of the strong current of the river. Their homes are made of a mix of stone foundation and woven walls. Some of the larger settlements use the wood collected from the area to build sturdy walls. All of the homes have a lower level under the water where Kahi’iko dwell. The upper levels are used for storage of resources and foods, as well as for work as needed.

What do Menehune villages look like, and how are their homes constructed?
The Menehune live in the shallower waters of the Elehun, where they have developed houses that peak out from under the water. These houses are often made of one round room per family, with wood or stone ‘walls’ under water that control the entrance to and from the area. The roof is slanted, with a small hole in the top to allow water in. For the Menehune who have adapted and use fire, an additional level is added in the form of a small round platform of stone that holds a small firepit. For storage, the Menehune use pots that they mount on the walls or store near the shore. Each settlement can be identified thanks to the cluster of roofs that peak out from the waterways.

What do Hapuna villages look like, and how are their homes constructed?
The Hapuna live on the colorful reefs of the Haukea, where they have simple homes in the natural environment. Most of these homes feature reef that crests above the waves at low tide, where the Hapuna can easily sunbathe on the platforms during their free time. Below, they have interconnecting reef pathways that allow them to mingle with their neighbors and play. Overall, their homes are made of reef and not much else. The major design of each settlement is around the connection of the people, and the marketplaces that bring them all together to interact.

What do Moakai villages look like, and how are their homes constructed?
The Moakai live deep in the sea in Ka'lei, where most light cannot reach. Instead of natural light, they use the bioluminescence from the plants and animals to light their towns and settlements, leaving a dusky glow about the towns. Their homes are carved into the natural rocks of the land, dug in to walls of the trench or the rocks on the floor. Because they are housed in landmarks of safety, there are no known settlements outside of the four established ones in Ka'lei. Between each of the settlements are strategic markers left to guide those unfamiliar with the currents, and often one will need a seasoned guide if they have never traveled so deep in the ocean.

Are there settlements outside of the official settlements in Kahikina?
The vast majority of the people in Kahikina live in one of the official settlements. We don’t limit owners to just living in those specified locations though so there is the possibility of random families living somewhere in the outskirts. We do not mind small settlements or homes being created to fit a character’s backstory, however they need to match Kahikina’s setting. It would be impossible for a Kahi’iko to live in the forest with no access to water, however one could settle in a small lake or pond that is close to a river. Remember, these are water dwellers, and need water in order to travel across the land. Additionally, the Moakai do not have anyone who settles outside of their established settlements, so we would not accept that backstory.

HISTORY/MECHANICS

What is the cultural equivalent of Kahikina’s technology in real history?
Kahikina is a purely fantasy-based shop and isn’t set to a specific culture or era. We cannot provide a specific time in history to compare to our setting, as living in water has changed how they advance. For example, Menehune has discovered fire and just created glass, but only uses it in specific settings. Kahi’ikos do have knowledge and documentation, but it isn’t wide spread. Most of society still passes information down in word-to-mouth, and uses primitive tools as a means for survival. If you have any questions or want clarification for an idea you have, please feel free to ask.

Who/what are the sea dwellers?
Not much was known about the sea dwellers outside of the stories passed down through generations. Some said that they looked similar to the current residents of Kahikina, whereas others claimed they are great beasts with grotesque appendages. It is only now, after 300 years, that they have established contact with those on the sea, and still many have yet to see them and only hear the rumors of those able to travel the distance to the coast.

Is there monetary currency in Kahikina?
Kahikina is a bartering based society, and money has not been created. Each race lives in a specific location with unique goods, and so trading is a popular process, especially on border locations between areas.

Are there ghosts and spirits in Kahikina?
Some have claimed to be able to see spirits or hear ghosts, with much skepticism. Much like our world, it is hard to believe that one can speak with the dead, although different cultures feel differently about the idea of spirits. The Menehune, for example, believe in rebirth but the process is nearly immediate after death. Because of this, they do not believe ghosts linger. The Kahi’iko, on the other hand, believe that spirits fill the Noelani Spring which is the lifeforce for the world. As a result, they accept the idea that spirits may speak to us in natural, unique ways.

TRAVEL

What are normal traveling times in Kahikina?
It really depends on where the villages are located. You can assume that all residents are strong swimmers, however it still will take a week or two to travel from Noelani to Pu’honu, based on dealing with the different barriers in the river and the distance from the two settlements. Most residents of Kahakina will travel at a leisurely pace and stop at settlements for rest, especially when swimming against the current. To see a full map of the settlements, as well as a distance guide, please see the Settlement page.

How difficult is it to scale the waterfalls to Noelani Spring?
The Kaha’iko have created a stair system behind the falls, allowing travelers to easily climb up the cliff to the springs. This trip can take a day, and to ensure that travelers stay submerged, small pools have been dug up throughout the cliff. These pools are naturally filled by the water from the falls, and are perfect locations to take a break during the day-long climb to the spring. If one does not begin the climb early in the day, there is a cave near the halfway point where an inn has been constructed, so travelers can rest before continuing on.

Are there ways to get to the sea?
Yes, there is a main river that is used to travel between the freshwater settlements and those of the sea.

FLORA/FAUNA/SPECIES

Can fauna be kept outside their natural habitat?
Yes. Although characters will not see fauna from other lands, they can bring them back. It is important to consider ICly how the character has encountered and acquired fauna from other regions. Because there are no familiars at this time in the shop, how you encounter and keep the fauna are up to you.

SPECIES BEHAVIOR / CULTURE

SOCIETY

What are the views on marriage/polygamy throughout Kahakina?
In general, polygamy and cheating would both be frowned upon, especially for the Menehune. Loyalty is an important trait and the Menehune's society laws (the Ko’kapu) speak of dedication and commitment to one spouse. It is extremely rare for a member of the Menehune to have children out of wedlock, and to abandon a spouse or responsibility. This is something that is ingrained in their culture, and not questioned by their society. Other cultures may be a bit more lax and understanding in terms of reproduction before marriage, but generally believe the act of marriage is a binding commitment.

How are same-sex relationships viewed in Kahakina?
As far as sexuality is concerned, individuals may choose to be with whomever they desire. There is no question of same-sex couples as the aquatic races of Kahakina are asexual. All genders are welcomed and accepted in the society, and no race questions relationships no matter how the pairing ends up. Because any relationship pairing can breed, no matter their identified gender, there is no questioning the legitimacy of the couple.

How do parents take care of the clutch of eggs?
The eggs do not have a shell, and when fully submerged take nourishment from the water as they grow. Parents need to store their eggs in a fully submerged location that will keep them hidden from predators; often this is within their home. Most parents believe that creating a 'nest' of sorts to surround the egg will add additional nourishment and help them grow. They will gather materials and algae and will create a weaved nest that still has some water flow. Parents may leave the nest for a limited time, but often will keep close to ensure that no predators approach. There is no need for direct contact, and often parents will avoid doing so unless moving the eggs.

What is the average family size in Kahakina?
Families usually aren't too large, as it takes time to raise eggs and not many survive the process. The Kaha'iko travel more often and will have smaller families in the river area, most only having two to three children max. In the lake areas the families might have one or two additional kids because they are more stationary. The Menehune, as a working race, will often have larger families with up to six or eight children per family on average.

What are the relationships between the races?
Kahikina is a very hospitable setting, and there are no hard feelings between any of the races. While the Menehune might not understand or agree with what they consider to be decadence from the Kaha’iko, there is no animosity between the two races. The Kaha’iko just for the most part find the Menehune interesting and don’t quite understand them either.

In terms of the new races, both the freshwater and the sea races are hesitant when interacting with each other. The relationship is new, and unfamiliar to everyone, so there's a lot of lessons to be learned. There's no anger or animosity between the groups, but there's definitely a lot of hesitance with getting to know their new neighbors.

MECHANICS

Are the people of Kahikina restricted to being male or female?
Biologically, the aquatic races of Kahikina are asexual. While owners may choose to assign a gender to a character, all pairings may breed because of their biology. Owners will have the option to select male, female, or androgynous when creating a character, and this will be reflected on the cert. Artists also have the ability to lightly edit the bases to reflect anatomy that users desire for their characters.

Do the people of Kahikina only live underwater?
Yes! The people of Kahikina come equipped with gills to live underwater. They do have a specialized air sac that allows them to come onto land, but it is not permanent. They must return to water after only a short time (usually up to half an hour or 45 minutes at most) on land. They typically use these air sacs to spend some time foraging on the edges of the water, or to sun bathe on platforms they build into their cities/villages. Once back in the water, their air sacs need to rest and recoup before going back on land again.

Do specific races have special features compared to other races?
Yes! Certain races have developed in unique ways as an adaptation to their environment. For example, the Menehune have developed barbels that allow them to easily move through the murky waters of their home, whereas the . Moakai have developed a lure on their forehead to help them hunt and travel in the deep sea.

SPECIES APPEARANCE

STANDARDS

What are the official heights of the races?
Each species has their own set height range, listed in The Races thread. These height ranges are standard, and to have an outlier is extremely rare. If you wish to list a height, please make sure to reference this page.

What is the age range for each stage?
Ages per stage are pretty flexible and can be bent to suit your character needs, but roughly: Children are between 7-10 years, Apprentices are between 13-16 years, Journeymen are between 22-25, and Masters are between 30-35 years. The time frame is pretty short and can be bent further to suit the needs of the character. If a character is advancing at a really fast pace, then they might be only 18 when they advance to Journeyman if that helps with character personality and plotting.

KAHA'IKO

What is the area that the Kaha'iko can have their scales exactly?
We've made a guide to better show where the scales can be. The written info is in the race info page. (This is the maximum area that scales can show up, scales do not have to show up in all the places listed.)
User Image

MENEHUNE

What is the area that the Menehune can have their scales exactly?
We've made a guide to better show where the scales can be. The written info is in the race info page. (This is the maximum area that scales can show up, scales do not have to show up in all the places listed.)
User Image

How does the Menehune modest lifestyle affect their clothing?
The Menehune follow Ko’kapu, a set of rules that guide them through their life. These rules are wide spread, and there are no Menehune that have not be raised without these guidelines. As a result, their outfits are much more modest, made with duller colors and lacking fancy designs. Although some may change their style thanks to influences from other races, any Menehune who currently lives in Elehun is expected to follow these guidelines, as they are strictly enforced. You can see more about the Menehune religion and the Ko'kapu in The Races thread.

What colors can Menehune get their tattoos in?
Menehune only have the technology to create black tattoos. There are no other colors they can get a tattoo in, nor would they wish to have any other colors thanks to their modest lifestyle.

What are the tattoo standards for the Menehune?
Menehune use tattoos as an expression of symbolism, and the design is a mix of tribal designs mixed with symbols significant to their culture (think Polynesian and Maori style). A Menehune may have multiple tattoos that they gain throughout their life, but always they have an important meaning. Some examples of the tattoos a Menehune might get are spiritual animals, interpretations of their gods, or locations and items that have a great impact on their life. If you have any questions on the types of tattoos you can get for your Menehune, please don't hesitate to ask!

When can Menehune start getting tattoos?
Menehune can begin getting their tattoos when they reach the apprentice stage. Children are still too young to receive them.

How many barbels do the Menehune have?
The people of Elehun have a varying number of barbels. They can range from one pair up to three pairs, always located on the face near the mouth area.

HAPUNA

What is the area that the Hapuna can have their scales exactly?
We've made a guide to better show where the scales can be. The written info is in the race info page. (This is the maximum area that scales can show up, scales do not have to show up in all the places listed.)

MOAKAI

What is the area that the Moakai can have their scales exactly?

Can the forehead lure on the Moakai be different lengths/styles?
Yes! There are three different lure lengths that a Moakai can have: Long, Medium, and Short.

How bright does the forehead lure glow?
While not as bright as a flashlight, the forehead lure does glow enough for a Moakai to use as a tool to see out about two feet into the darkness around them, as well as lure in others who may see the light. It is faint overall, and as they get closer to the surface the glow is not obvious unless it's night time.

DISORDERS

Is it possible to have a character with a deformity, disorder or disability of some sort?
Any anomaly that makes a physical change to the art is reserved for event only characters. But anomalies or disorders that can't be seen can be quested, but require staff permission first! They are considered on a case by case basis, but we encourage owners to create unique characters with variety. When questing or creating the character, it would require some reason or explanation in their history/personality description.

Do scales regenerate?
No, scales do not regenerate under any circumstance. If a character is cut or their scales are ripped off, all that will be left is a thick scar.

What would an albino character look like?
Although extremely rare, there are Albinos that exist in Kahikina. Most vary depending on their race, but traits could be light skin, (slightly-pinkish) light eyes, light hair, and even paler scales.

What would a melanistic character look like?
Although extremely rare, there are melanistic individuals that exist in Kahikina. Most vary depending on their race, but traits could be dark skin, dark eyes, dark hair, and even darker scales. This trait is even rarer than Albinos, and we may not even see a melanistic character appear.

Is it possible for a scales to be located in different areas than the racial standards?
No. The scale areas and coloring are set for each race. Characters would not be able to have anything abnormal with their scales.

OBTAINING A CHARACTER

QUESTING

Can an owner quest for more than one character at a time?
Yes, for normal quests. They will only be approved if you have character slots open for them though.

Do you have to mark a quest priority if you want it approved first?
If there's a specific one you would like to get approved first, just let us know somehow. Either mark priority or quote us or something.

Can you quest for an infant?
No, infants are restricted to breeding only.

What stages can you quest for?
The standard starting stage is the child stage, but owners can also choose to quest for an apprentice. Just make sure to make it clear somewhere in the quest thread~

Can an owner quest for a character with magic?
Unfortunately magic is obtained only by rolling in the magic thread. Owners cannot quest or ask for permission for a magic character.

RECEIVING ART

What are the prices for a character?
The pricing really depends on the way the character was acquired, but typically they range between 10bil and 60bil in gold. All artists are allowed to set their own prices for customs, so this can also change, but:
Breedings - 20bil
Flatsale - 10bil
Customs - 20-40bil
Adoptables - 5bil
Raffles - 10mil-1bil per ticket

CHARACTER LIMITS

Are character limits waived during events?
No. Character limits are never waived unless they are specifically stated that they are during the event.

EVENTS

Can I win more than one character in a shop event?
We aim to spread wins out as fairly as we can, which typically means one win per owner in most events. In the case that there aren't enough entries to give out all of the characters, owners who entered for more than one may win an additional character at the staff's discretion. Any exceptions to this will be clearly stated during the event.

GROWING YOUR CHARACTERS

TIMER

When does the timer to submit another growth actually start?
The growth timer starts only after receiving an official approval in the growth request post. Owners will be quoted within their original post with an approval and the date approved for future reference.

When does the timer for the same character start after growth?
The timer for a character to grow again starts after they've received art. So if they officially grew, they would be able to begin RPing as the next stage, but their timer wouldn't start until their art was dropped (whenever that is ready).

GROWTH REQS

When waiting for art for a growth can a character be RPed as their next stage?
As long as the growth has been officially approved, you can begin to RP as the next stage.

Can extra RPs that take place in one stage be used in another's requirements?
RPs that take place in one stage do not count as requirements for another. It is considered to be a new chapter in a character's life and cannot be used for character development. (This includes solos and prps.)

Do RPs need to be completed before submitting for a growth request?
We prefer that all RPs are wrapped up before submitting for a growth request, but there is no strict rule saying they need to be completed.

ACTIVITY

ACTIVITY

What constitutes as activity in reference to the activity rule?
You have to be active at least once every three months to avoid receiving an activity warning. This means just post somewhere. It can be in the main thread, in the guild, an RP, just saying hi, whatever as long as we see your face.

Can characters be rehomed?
With the owner's permission, any character in their child or apprentice stage can be rehomed. If an owner is inactive, customs will not be rehomed, only retired, but event characters can and will be put back into circulation.

How does a hiatus work with activity checks?
If an owner comes to staff and announces a hiatus to us we will note that in the staff thread and you will not be sent any activity warnings during the period that the hiatus encompasses. If the end time was not specified, we will just check in with an occasional PM seeing how you're doing but nothing serious.

RETIRING

What happens if I retire a character and how can I un-retire them?
Retiring a character will open that slot back up for you as an owner. There is also a cool down between the time you retire a character to the time you can gain a new one in order to prevent this from being abused. Retiring a character should be done as a last resort because you just cannot continue on with whatever that character was doing or was as a person. If you would like to un-retire them, then you would need to open a slot back up first in order to make room for them.

What is the cool down when retiring a character?
If you do choose to retire a character please note that the cool down is one month per character. The time can stack, so if you retire more than one your cool down will be whatever that time frame is. During this time you cannot breed, win, quest, or custom any new character.

Can retired characters come back?
Yes! Retired characters are characters that are confirmed not active at the time. All an owner has to do is ask us anywhere they like if they can be reinstated and we will move them out of retirement.

If a character dies, is there a cool down like there is for retiring?
Yes. Killing off a character is more permanent than retiring. There is the one month cool down as well as the character never being able to be pulled back into active status.

BREEDING

REQS/LIMITS

Is there a breeding cool down?
The requirements for breeding need to be completely finished before a breeding can start, but as of right now there is not a cool down in place.

Do babies from a breeding count against the character limit?
The only limitations to babies are you may only have three as an owner at any given time and you have to make up for their slot before you can get a new character. So yes, they count against your character limit, but you do not need an open slot to breed.

When does a bred baby officially take up one of my character slots?
After the breeding is initiated and approved, the staff will mark the slot closed on the owners list. So once the owners post that first form, they can consider themselves having one more character slot full. If an owner only has one slot open and they apply for breeding, even if the breeding is not complete, they cannot apply for a new character before opening another slot up to avoid loopholes.

Slots cap out at 20; what happens if I have 20 characters and want to apply for a breeding?
Once the slot max has been reached you cannot go beyond that. So if you do happen to have 20 characters filling your slots, you will have to grow one to stage 4 before you can apply for a breeding since there is no longer a way for you to make up the slots for the new baby.

If I wanted to give my baby from a breeding to another owner to play, would they need an open character slot?
Yes. The rule that bred babies do not need slots only applies if the owners of the pair breeding are planning on playing the resulting babies. If they want to gift the baby to another owner to play that owner will need an open slot since they were not the one who bred.

Can my RPs used to apply for breeding be used for growth as well?
Yes. They can be used as points toward your growth.

Can special RPs like metas or solos be used for breeding reqs?
Solos will not count for breeding reqs. Metas may count for the establishing a relationship RP between two characters if they interacted enough within the event.

Can the RPs for breeding be spread out over stages or do they all need to be from one stage?
RPs for breeding can be spread out over stages since a relationship will need to be formed first. Just remember that babies won't be dropped until the third RP is completed so hopefully that one won't be too spread out.

What counts as an establishing a relationship RP for the first breeding req?
The establishing relationship RP in the beginning doesn't have any set rules, since owners come up with some awesome plots we can't always account for but they basically have to have made it past the initial meet and greet RP. So if it's love at first sight on their very first rp together then that counts as the first one, if their plotline's more complicated they might have to have met more than once to establish a relationship. It's really open to interpretation for plotting purposes.

How does the establishing a relationship RP change for characters having their second breeding?
If characters are having a second breeding together they will still need the establishing a relationship RP, but this time it'll be more like an RP that shows what their relationship is like now after having kids. How they treat each other, or anything really that displays how they interact with each other. This is also quite open to interpretation.

Can the proof of relationship and talking about babies requirements be in the same RP?
No. The requirements are meant to be separate. The two characters must have a proof of relationship RP, and then a discussing babies RP.

MECHANICS

Do abnormal traits like albinoism and vitiligo pass on through breeding?
No. Any abnormal trait has to be approved by staff before questing or won in an event, so all abnormal traits are excluded from breeding. They would not be passed on from a parent to the child.

How long does it take for my baby to drop when I apply for breeding?
Because most breedings rely on needing to complete a second RP after starting the process, the time varies greatly between pairs. Art of the baby will not drop any sooner than a week after the egg art drops though. So if you're super speedy with your RPs you will still have to wait for the egg art to be dropped and then at least an additional week for the baby to be official. Besides this, it is limited to the constraints of the RPs and the artists.

Does the infant stage have requirements/is it playable?
No. The infant stage lasts three weeks but it is not a playable stage. Owners can RP as the parents with their baby, but the baby will not have a journal set up until their child art is dropped in the shop. Since they are infants they are completely dependent on their parents and do not have a way to interact meaningfully yet. We definitely encourage our owners to use this time to RP their parent characters with their babies!

IN CHARACTER

How does reproduction work in Kahakina?
When a couple decides to reproduce, they will have a clutch of eggs. The parents will be responsible for monitoring the clutch as they grow and eventually hatch. It is important to note that a clutch of eggs takes an average of 6-9 months to grow into a child, before it hatches, so it is a commitment by the parents to protect them. Additionally, it is rare for more than two eggs to fully grow from the clutch, and often most eggs will die off within the first few days.

Is there infertility in Kahakina?
This is a little complicated, but it is possible. Because they are asexual, each member of the race could participate in both egg laying and firtilization. So they could be partially infertile or fully infertile.

Is it possible for a single parent to reproduce?
No. It is not possible for a parent to both lay an egg and fertilize it, so they would need a partner to have children.

How do Kahikinans lay eggs?
Kahikinans lay eggs like fish do! They lay the eggs first, and then fertilize them after. This makes it so that every Kahikinan is planned for by their parents!

HYBRIDS

CULTURE

How are hybrids viewed in Kahakina?
At this time, no known hybrids exist in Kahakina, because of the limited contact between the four races. The Menehune and the Moakai would be more resistant to accepting a hybrid, as they focus on keeping to themselves and their society. It is more likely that any family containing hybrids would be accepted by the Kaha'iko and the Hapuna, as they are a much more welcoming group to differences culturally.

APPEARANCE

Would hybrids be able to have scales in locations from both parents?
No. Scale location is a dominant trait, so hybrids would always have their scale locations based off of one parent only. The other location would be recessive.

How would scale color work on a hybrid?
Scale color also is dominant based on a single parent. However, it is split between major and accent colors. For example, a hybrid child may have brown scales as a major trait from their Menehune parent, but an accent color of light blue from their Kaha'iko parent. There is no way that scales would mix in terms of two or more major colors or two or more minor colors from each parent. The colors that do not pass on visually would be recessive.

Can special traits like the Menehune's barbels pass on?
Yes! Special traits can pass on to hybrids, although it is impossible to have more than one special trait pass on to a child.

Why do some hybrids have rules about what colors have to match the others, like with hapuna and moakai hair/scales?
The hapuna race and the moakai race have genetic markers that restrict their hair and scale colors to strictly matching each other. So if a moakai and a hapuna were to come together to make a hybrid, there is still a 100% chance of that marker still being in their genetics (so the colors for their hair must match their scales). If a moakai were to breed with a menehune, then there is only a 50% chance that the marker would still be there, so races like the menehune and kaha'iko don't have those specific restrictions when combined with the hapuna or moakai.

MECHANICS

Can characters have more diluted ancestry?
In the future this may be possible, but at this time their is no possible hybrid ancestry beyond two pure parents creating a hybrid (in regards to quests).

How many hybrids can you quest?
You're allowed to quest 1 hybrid per 2 pure that you own once hybrid questing opens up.

Do bred hybrids count towards the quest count?
No. Only hybrids that were quested/customed. The Owners Availability thread in the OOC reflects the number of hybrids you currently have available to quest.

ROLEPLAYING

POSTING

Can I RP two characters I own as one post?
All characters within an RP (normal or meta or otherwise) must have their own gaia posts in their own POV. You cannot combine characters together into one post. Posts such as these will not be counted toward the post count for any RP.

What does having one post per character mean technically?
Having one post per character means that in their post it is only their POV, only their thoughts, and only their actions. Character B cannot have inner monologue within Character A's post. Character A cannot initiate the actions of Character B, etc.

So things like Aminah's post: "Aminah pushed Sathe's shoulder. Sathe returned the favor and Sathe couldn't believe how angry her sister was and was hurt by her actions." would not be allowed since it is voicing Sathe's inner monologue within Aminah's post.

Something acceptable would be like "Aminah's post: Aminah pushed Sathe's shoulder, her anger showing in her eyes." Sathe's post: "Sathe felt her sister's hands hit her shoulder before she was pushed hard. She could see how angry Aminah was, etc." because this shows Sathe reacting to Aminah's actions and not Aminah initiating Sathe's response in Aminah's post.

Is there any advice for what staff looks for when approving RP reqs for growth?
Something to keep in mind when RPing with more than one of your own characters is - how would you RP with another owner? If you wouldn't write that way if you were RPing with someone else, then it's probably not allowed when RPing with yourself. Try to think of each of your characters belonging to a different person. Each person would put their own character in their own post and would have their own thoughts on what's going on.

Do AIM RPs have to be posted within a thread as separate posts a well?
Yes. AIM RPs will have to be transcribed into a thread with a separate post per character, but one owner can do all the transcribing (so it's easier to transfer over).

Do the characters all have to stick to the same post order the whole RP?
The order of the posts can be fluid - as long as all owners are on board and each character only gets one post per round. So ok: chara1 then chara2, then chara3, then chara2, then chara3, then chara1. Not ok: chara1, chara2, chara1, chara3, chara1. (etc)

Are minimum post counts for each person?
The minimum post count is per person, so each one must reach 10 posts for it to count.

MAGIC

Can magic be stronger in some people than it is in others?
Yes, some may have very weak powers, while the majority of the people of Kahikina don't have any powers at all. Powers cannot be stronger than the examples listed in the magic thread though. Even the most pronounced powers are very small at best.

TIMELINE

Can a character's RPs jump around in their timeline?
Of course! As long as you know how your timeline goes, there's no issues. You can't go back in stages, like you can't RP as child after they've grown to apprentice, but besides that there's no problems with jumping around.

SOLOS

What is a solo?
A solo is a story containing only your character. The solo can include characters that are NOT owned by anyone (including yourself) such as parents/random encounters/etc. but cannot include any other playable character.

WORLD EVENT/ CURRENT EVENTS

Can a character use the same prompt more than once?
Unfortunately a prompt can only be used once, since the character is being awarded a particular kind of growth points for completing them.

MISCELLANEOUS

MISC

What time zone should I use when posting forms for events or growths in Kahikina?
Kahikina runs in -5.00 EST. If something refreshes at midnight, it is EST midnight, if an event is noted to close at a certain time, the same rules apply (EST).

STAFF

Who judges contests and how are they judged?
The managers are the only ones who are able to judge in contests. First and foremost, all entries are judged based on their response to the prompt and the information asked for within the form. Judges do not judge based on writing ability, so a 'better' writer will not necessarily win, and judging does not discriminate against new owners vs established owners.

Are staff allowed to enter event contests?
Staff are not allowed to enter into contests that are open to owners. This includes artists and managers both in order to avoid any accusations that judging may be unfair. Staff are however still allowed to enter into contests that do not require judging. So auctions, raffles, and chance games are still open to everyone including staff unless otherwise stated.

But if staff aren't allowed to enter into contests or customs, how do they ever get new characters?
Staff are allowed to quest for characters and receive them that way, without having to wait for customs to open so it doesn't detract from other owners' chances. Because we do know that it's very unfortunate that they can no longer enter into contests, staff are also given additional perks to make it easier for them to obtain a character without the access to shop events.
