Welcome to Matope's second Color Your Own event! This event has been a long time coming, and we thought it'd be best to hold this event alongside our annual auctions because it means everyone can have a shot at a custom, whether or not they have lots of gold. This year, we're debuting fabulous new quest lineart by Kitty Sprightt, which you can use to color up your dream kin. Just be sure to read all of the rules below to ensure you understand what's required of you.
This event will begin Friday, August 12th and end Monday, September 12th.

Rules Keep in mind that these templates were created by Kitty Sprightt and belong to Matope. While you may use these to color quest kin for yourself or friends in the future, under no circumstance should you use them for your own other purposes, try to sell anything created on them, or otherwise abuse the privilege of being allowed access to them. Please be kind to these templates, so that we can potentially run this sort of event again!
This event, like all Matope events, follows the same rules as the main thread. All kin won in this event must follow the standard naming conventions contained there.
At least three [3] winners will be chosen from all of the participants to be colored on official Matope lines and certed and canonized in Matope. The rest will, unfortunately, not join the ranks of Matope's characters. More winners might be chosen if there are more, amazing entries. However, this is a judged contest.
You may color one edited kin and five unedited kin. However, this is a case where quality matters much more than quantity. Six quickly-scrawled-out Kimeti will not have the same chance at winning as one carefully-created one, so we strongly advise that you take your time, play around with different techniques, and only enter those creations you are the most proud of.
This is the first time we have ever allowed edited entries for a color your own event. You may submit your single edited entry with any edits you desire, but please keep in mind that this is a judged contest, and adding edits that do not add to the concept of your kin will be a deterrent to your entry. Furthermore, edits might be changed to suit the templates or to follow shop coloring rules as necessary (non-accessory wings, more than two tails, and other such canon-breaking edits will not remain intact if your kin is picked to be canonized). For your other five entries, no other edits are allowed. You cannot remove scales, add scales, edit scales, change the horns, add hair or mane or extra fur fluff or otherwise play with the line art in any way. You can only color the base as provided.
All entries must be submitted in .gif or .png format. No .jpg files will be accepted, as these are pixel art templates and jpg compression muddies the colors and makes a mess of the image. Furthermore, you may not use Photobucket to host your entry, because it crashes many of our judges' computers. We'd suggest imgur as an alternative, but you may use anything that does not redirect the user to a page with advertisements on it. Thanks!

ENTRY NOTES We are providing templates in flat .PNG files, so they'll be easier to access even if you aren't accustomed to Matope's pixel coloring style. They should be colorable in MS Paint, or any other art program. You may color them using any technique, program, or style that you'd like. However, we'd like to request that you please do not shade your entry at all (either edits or base kin), so that we can see the markings clearly. Again, you may enter one edited kin TOTAL, regardless of species or gender, and up to five unedited kin TOTAL, for a maximum of six entries. For edited kin, please do not shade the edits in any way. Please do not remove gender-determining body parts on non-kimeti, edit the eyed zikwa to be eyeless, or vice versa. Your edits may be changed to suit the templates or shop rules if your entry is selected to be colored. Do not edit the lineart for unedited kin in any way. The only exception is for zikwa, which should glow somewhere, and for kimeti, which may glow, but this is not a requirement. Please keep in mind that more reasonably glowing kin are more likely to be selected. If your entry is selected to be colored, the glow may be subdued, and the markings may be slightly changed to fit the template. Selected achas will have back scales as normal. Again, please do not use these templates for any non-Matope purposes. TEMPLATES

The world is a carousel of color! Kin name: Dancing Daisies  Notes: I am no artist. XD The green lines on the hoof are supposed to be grass, the stripes on the leg are meant to be the stem of the daisy, dots on the back are supposed to be scales. The flower itself is supposed to be a daisy. I just wanted something summery and fun~ <3 Thanks for the opportunity!

(I tried my best) REALLY IMPORTANT REFERENCE: Actual tail braiding (I could not, for my life, draw that. If you pick her, this is the reference I'd really like you to use instead of the tail braid I drew! The vines and flowers on the tail are fine, but I just couldn't get the braid to look right, so I thought a ref would be better) Other than that, my inspiration for her was my username and edits that I've really wanted on a kin. (braids, flowers/vines, and glowing effects) I hope everything about her is acceptable! The world is a carousel of color! Kin name: Disaster Calling  Notes: Because I love black + rainbow. Kin name: Stalk  Notes:I was attempting sabertooth tiger sort of kin, fluffy mane that trails onto the back, little inter ear tuffs, and short lion tip like tail. For coloring, I used an airbrush for the red then went over it in brown, and then used water color brush to go over brown and then red again to give the striped soft look. The edits are just black and blue water coloring

Kin name: Head in the Clouds Notes: Fluffy (not a 'fro) cloud-like hair on top (note: it's not an abysmal attempt at shading, but to sort of puff the clouds with tones of colour), long sweeping straight hair to the side to resemble rain...and a tornado tail (rofl I couldn't get a fluffy tail to work; if you can, be my guest!)
