Lone Bird This enemy can be fought solo! A lone bird spots you and glides in to attack. As you get close to it, you notice that while it's the size and rough shape of an eagle, it's not at all natural: its beak is made of bronze and its feathers are metallic and razor sharp. It attacks by launching feathers at you, or flinging its poisonous dung. Hit points: 25 Damage: 5 each time attacked If you successfully kill this bird, each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following: 1-80: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 81-90: Poisonous Dung: You manage to collect a vial of the vile stuff. It can thrown at an opponent once to poison them, dealing 1 damage for 3 turns. After this it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 91-99: Heart's Blood: You manage to collect a vial of the creature's blood. It can be used once to replenish 3 HP, at which point it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 100: Metal Feather: Once per battle, you can backstab with this small dagger. Add 2 to your final damage. This item is reusable, and remains in your inventory.

Cat stealed herself for going outside again into the madness that was the birds circling overhead; it was about time that she helped take care of the pests! She readied her bow and made sure her quiver was well-stocked. Giving a resolute nod she headed through the doors …
… and was not prepared for the slug of poisonous dung that was immediately launched towards her. She cried out and released an arrow towards her attacker- a lone bird rising from the boughs of a pine tree nearby- only to miss as the bird deftly swung upwards with a beat of its metallic wings.

It seemed as though the bird above was shrieking at her in mockery as it shot a metallic feather that sliced through the sleeve of her coat. Cat had had quite enough of these birds already though and drew another arrow with a grimace, waiting for the perfect opportunity to release - and lodging it in the terrible creature’s breast.

The bird seemed to be taken aback by the arrow now lodged in its chest, screeching as it landed on the roof of the hotel. Catherine took this opportunity to shoot another arrow towards the metallic beast and smiled when it hit its mark. The bird was not as pleased and retaliated with a razor sharp feather that found itself lodged in Cat’s thigh.

Cat let out a curse and stared at her leg, the feather was … in … her … LEG! The bird launched itself off of the roof, seeming to have snapped the shafts of the arrows that had hit it with its bronze beak, and releasing another poisonous dropping at Cat as it flew overhead.
Distracted by the dung and the feather (IN HER LEG), Cat’s shot was wildly off the mark and she cursed again as she yanked that damned feather out of her leg. She chucked it aside as she took off in pursuit of the bird, it wasn’t going to get away that easily!

She followed the bird to where it sat perched back among the pines, its gleaming feathers a dead give-away for its location. She moved as quietly as she could to an advantageous position and notched another arrow.
The bird saw the arrow as it burst through its wing and let out a pained cry, shooting a feather from its good wing at Cat before she could dodge the projectile and floundered from the pine boughs to the snow below.

Cat walked towards the bird with an arrow half-drawn. She almost felt sorry for the beast- until it lashed out with one final cry and a feather that sliced Cat’s cheek as it whizzed by. Shouting, she finished off the lone bird and turned back towards the hotel, resolute in helping the civilians fend off these monsters.
