Sean stepped out of the fabric store and started to jog down the street, shopping bag swinging from one hand. He had thought this would just be a quick trip, so he'd assured his mom he would be back by sundown, but choosing his materials had taken longer than he expected. Still, he should be home in plenty of time as long as he caught the bus. But just as he turned the corner towards the bus stop, he saw the vehicle pulling away. He expected the gesture to be futile, but he tried running after it and waving anyway. Unfortunately, his expectations were met and the bus kept going. He slowed to a halt by the bus stop sign, breathing hard from his short sprint. He cast his mind about for another option. Maybe there would be another bus soon that could get him home in time? But a look at the bus schedule posted by the sign showed that the next one would be far too late. He heaved a sigh of regret at the news. Well then, should he take a cab? Those were unnecessarily expensive, though. Maybe just walk or jog? That might be faster than taking the bus, but it might just make his mom worry more. He sank down on the bench for the bus stop as he considered his options.

Altaite has a slow start to his afternoon, but was already out in full powered form as the twilight began to wane away from the day. The past few weeks had been a lot to take back in, from taking energy and meeting new allies, it was a lot but he was back in his groove. Where he felt he didn't do so well in other aspects of his life, Negaverse activities felt right to him.
And that was entirely why he was out and about at this time, rather than waiting entirely until nightfall. Even with that, he hadn't come across anyone just yet. No prey, no starseeds, nothing to sate himself with. "Damn it." He muttered under his breath from an alley, kicking a can off of a wall and grumbling to himself again. For all the drive in the world, he had some of the worst luck.
As he popped out of the alleyway he had a scowl on his face, leaning on the wall and letting out a deep exhale, looking around. It wasn't familiar, but most places he went to weren't. Glancing with his bright eyes he noticed a figure and Altaite glanced at him. Whoever it was was having a bad time, looking worried about something and he slowly walked over. He could take his energy, maybe his starseed... it'd be easy if he wasn't paying attention and he moved a hand out from behind, and stopped.
There was something here.
Something that made him change tactics and he hopped over the bench, sitting down next to him. "Aw man, missed the bus too?" He grinned at him. Maybe I should talk to this guy first...

Sean was preoccupied enough with is thoughts that he only dimly noticed the footsteps approaching from behind. So he didn't react until someone sat down and spoke, at which point he looked up and smiled at the person next to him. A smile was rarely far from his face in any situation. The other young man's fancy black-and-red outfit did strike Sean as a little odd, but after a moment of curiosity he moved on. People wore all kinds of fashions, after all. "Yeah, it just pulled away as I got here," Sean answered with a shrug. "So now I just need to figure out the best way home." He glanced up at the bus schedule and added, "I could wait for the next one, but mom'll get worried if I'm not back soon." He studied the schedule once more to see if maybe he could make it work, but there was no way around it. The next bus was really far too late. Oh well. He shrugged again with a regretful hum and looked back at the other person on the bench. "So I'm just weighing options. How about you?" he asked amicably.

Altaite smirked at him and looked across the street, listening to him talk and he nodded. "I ain't going in that much of a hurry, but it sucks to be stranded somewhere." His bright eyes glanced over to the other boy and he stared for a moment. "Well, I guess that depends on if you find sitting on a bench more dangerous than walking towards your house. Both have pros and cons." He smirked again, unable to help himself.
It'd be so easy right now... The Lieutenant thought, but stuffed the thought away.
"I need to get back into town, maybe it'd be best to stick together, what with those weirdos out and about at night and all." Altaite was testing him, gauging his reaction, or perhaps interest. Then again, the one sitting next to him could be one of those obnoxious types... he shuddered. Better not be or I'll crush his starseed here and now. He thought, bitterly.

One corner of Sean's smile drooped at the other guy's comment about the "wierdos" out there. In a more subdued tone of voice he said, "Yeah, you never know what'll happen, huh?" One minute you could be buying groceries, and the next...well, probably best not to dwell on it. But for his mom's peace of mind, and possibly his own safety, maybe he should get home as quick as possible. "Well, probably safest to hail a cab then, isn't it?" he said more brightly. "It's likely the fastest way back, in any case." He looked down the street, but no taxi conveniently appeared at that exact moment. He probably wouldn't have long to wait, though. There were always cabs driving around in a city. Still, the cost was a point to consider. A taxi was the fastest option, but also the most expensive. But then again, if this guy was heading the same way anyway, and wanted to stick together, maybe they could help each other out. "Hey, would you want to catch a cab with me?" Sean offered. "It'll be cheaper if we split the fare."
