"All wrong." The red lioness muttered to himself. Just moments before he witnessed a couple of his cubs playing, no fierce noises, but perhaps some grumpy babbling about 'I'm gonna get you'. Never having raised a litter of his own he would never understand the needs of playing - him and Spenta had done no such thing, not that he had felt much like playing at the time of his youth. Brushing aside his own thoughts he stared, memorized by the little bodies that were just beginning to calm down and relax. Yet another thing he didn't understand, sure a laze under the sun or something, but he hadn't once seen their Mother get take them to hunt or teach them anything useful for that matter.

He approached silently as the group settled down, his plan was to peg the favorite - blues and purples - but she was curled in such a way that didn't allow him a pass through and so he had to settle on one of his other daughters. "Sabia." He whispered, coaxing the young his way. Angra watched as little ears perked up, alert and golden eyes soon followed to the source of the sound. "Daddy." She whispered, excitement clear in her tone of voice - eyes lighting up to match. She was always thrilled to see the large male she had come to know as her Father. Their meetings were always held in private and in her eyes they were very very special! In her youth she wasn't aware that he disliked the litter, let alone disliked her. Blissfully unaware of this she stood, abandoning her siblings for some fun with their Father.

Clodding along clumsily she greets him with a bump of her head against his leg and a purr to match, he greeted her in no such way - in fact he simply lifted the paw she attached herself to and pushed her aside. This wasn't an unusual greeting for her and so Sabia shook it off and watched him closely as he turned away and expected her to follow. Which is precisely what she did. "Daddy, are we huntin' today?" The red cubs voice was small, he had to strain to hear her speak over the noice of the wind and rocks beneath their paws. "Yes Sabia, we'll be hunting today - if we are lucky." He mumbled, an annoyed tone that slipped, which he caught very quickly and corrected.

"Did you see anything Daddy? Were there rabbits? Other small rodents?" He growled softly and was gifted the silence he desired - this cub, he decided, was his least favorite. She chattered needlessly and questioned everything, what exactly was the point? He pondered this in the silence they walked in, but unfrotunately he was celebrating to soon and her needless chatter came to light again. "So where are we going? We're going really far? Are we there yet?" This time he simply ignored her, they were close now. Angra had been tracking a small group of rodents, specifically rabbits. Their sprinting had caught his attention earlier and he spotted their home not far from where he himself had been staying. This was ideal for pratice.

He looked to his daughter, her ears were perked forward and alert, paw steps had become more selectively placed - it was clear she had noticed a change, perhaps he had given away something? "Do you see something Sabia, smell anything perhaps?" He wondered this out loud to her. The questions were mostly rhetorical, but he expected an answer fromher, that was just how she was and he wasn't disappointed. "A family?" She said, her tone of voice adjusted to a more serious manner and even became hushed in comparison to her earlier glee. "They must be awful close if I can smell them this strongly." She mused this and golden eyes peered up hopefully at her Father. Angra stared back at her in silence a moment before speaking. "You're quite right."

Well color him impressed! Even the red pelted lion couldn't hide the startled expression on his face. He had held no expectations for these cubs, not even in the slightest. Though he mused over the fact that they could be useful one day, that day surely hadn't come. While lost in his thoughts he doesn't realize that the little red cub sneaks away, following her nose. Returning to reality he peers around and finally spies his daughter getting near the rodents den, again, very impressed. "Be very quiet." The large lion mouthed to Sabia. She smiled, a grin that would stop hearts, it just didn't seem right on little lioness' - a grin that came with a wicked twist.

Slowly he watched as she crept up to the den - nearby he spied a rabbit closing in on the entrance and Sabia was still hidden from it's view. This would be her opportunity and he half worried she would waste it. Instead she surprised him in a way that satisfied him incredibly. Instead of letting the rabbit catch wind of her she pounced as soon as she could and was on top of the rabbit before it could decide to run. Her eyes narrowed and body simply seemed to follow instinct - aiming to kill. The kill was messy, blood splattered the ground, her paws, face and pelt. The extra violence was unnecessary, likely, but pleased both her and her Father. Witnessing the act he joined her, a proud look upon his face - perhaps the first look of pride he had ever given her.

Proud of herself as well she stared down at her kill then peered up to her Father - silence still surrounding the pair of of them. It was perhaps the first time Sabia could recall feeling some kind of love between the two fo them. Something she knew as strange and foreign - there was no physical contact, but at the same time she felt it. "Daddy, here you go." Lowering her head she grabbed at what was left of her kill and gave it to Angra. He peered at it a moment then took it from her. "Go away now Sabia."

Sad, but not surprised he sprinted away - fortunately they hadn't traveled far and so she found her way home easily. Angra was left with the body which he cast aside and left near the rabbits hole. He felt no need to collect that token so kindly gifted from his daughter, he felt nothing for it. Instead he left the scene and found a spot nice enough to keep him cool as the sun began to heat of the afternoon. Soon he was fast asleep - dreaming of the cubs future and what they could do for him.
