Hyperborea had been tracking a youma for the better part of an hour, she hated the ones that liked to move around alot. It was a shadowy lion youma, she just wanted to stop it before it could hurt any civilians. So she hopped from roof top to roof top trying to catch up to the monster.
She felt the aura stop moving. Oh that can't be good. She thought as she increased her speed.
Sure enough the lion had found a civilian to corner, some older lady with black hair. She wondered what the lady was doing out this late, didn't she know it was dangerous. Oh well no time to think about that.
"Get away from her!" She yelled at the youma as she leapt down on top of the monster. As she wrestled with the creature she grab two handful of the black mane and she used the strength allotted to her as a knight to throw the lion back against a far wall.
"Are you ok?" She turned and asked the lady as she summoned her staff to her hand.Kapoodles Here's a start ^.^ let me know if I need to change anything

Everyone told Ann that it was dangerous to go out at night, but right now she just didn't give a damn. There were rumors that monsters enjoyed going about at night and feasting on young people, and there was no way in hell that the mother of three was going to let them get away with it!
Not when her own son loved to sneak out at night doing who knows what! Not when she never knew when exactly he'd get back. If she couldn't put chains on her stupid rebellious child, she could atleast give him a safe neighborhood to come back to.
And generally, it was a quiet time. Not tonight. Ohhh boy, nope, not tonight.
"So, you want to be a little jerk now, huh?" Yes she was scared, but like hell she was going to let this b*****d stay around for her son to be eat with. Ann had come PREPARED, with mace and with her favorite metal bat. Just because mama was getting up there in age, didn't mean Mama wasn't going to kick some a**!
But before she could take the first swing, some young lass decided to come and attack her target first, throwing it off like it was nothing.
"I'm fine, lass, Don't worry about it! Let's just take this beast out!"

Hyperborea couldn't help but smile as she looked over the woman. Bat in hand she looked like she was ready for a fight even if she was scared. Hyperborea had a real fondness for people like that, even without powers she was willing to face a monster she probably knew nothing about. It made Hyperborea wonder all the more what brought her out here clearly looking for a fight.
But all of that could wait, because as much as she respected the woman's willingness to fight there was no way she would let her. Metal bat or no, a civilian was no match for a youma. Maybe she could dust it but she'd definitely get hurt in the process.
The tiny glowing knight of Cosmos flashed the woman a smile. "I've got this madame." She said as she turned to face the beast as it struggled back to its feet.
"Back to the rift with you." She growled as she swung her staff hard and fast at the youma. She dodged it's attempted swipes and bites, and beat it with the body of her staff. She did this until all that was left was dust where once the youma was standing.
She turned back to the woman dispelling her staff. "Did it get you anywhere? You really shouldn't be out this late madame." She said as she looked the woman over for wounds.

"Oh hell no!" Ann could not help but scowl at the young woman who told her to essentially step back! Like hell she would! But before she could even get back in there and swing, the girl had dusted it as if it were nothing. The terrible attitude that ran in her family couldn't help but surface at this point, with one hand on her hip and the other leaning against the bat as if it were some cane.
"Well. I guess I was out here for nothing then. If they were that easy to beat, then I should have no problems with the next one. Honestly, I'm fine." If anything, she was now riding an adrenaline low, having really been ready to beat the hell out of the beast that could have been a danger to her kids. Now she wouldn't even get the chance! Still this girl seemed to be nice enough; It would be awfully rude to just act like she broke open the pinata first.
"I feel like that's not the first time I've been told that, but since those THINGS are out here, and my kid likes to sneak out at night, there's no way in hell I'm going to sit back and let them roam free in MY neighborhood!"

Hyperborea sighed. "Madame, I am not a normal human like you. I have strength far greater than any normal person and magic to protect me." She said knowing she probably sounded crazy, but then again she was a glowing girl who could summon up a staff out of thin air so was it really that crazy of a story.
"I took it down easily because I am built to fight those things and I do so every night. It could have killed you or worse." She warned.
"Je suis désolé. I don't mean to discourage your bravery, it is admirable that you wish to keep these streets safe for you child. But please leave that to me and others like me. I'm sure the last thing your child would wish is to come home and find out one of those things had taken your life." She said as a look of pain and regret flashed across her face as she remembered her own mother's cold dead face.
Then a thought struck her, she had forgotten her manners and hadn't even introduced herself yet. "Pardonne-moi, I haven't given you my name. I am called Hyperborea, transcendent knight of the cosmos. It's a pleasure." She said politely as she did a small curtsy to the woman.

Ann would have scoffed and scorned the whole situation and the girl's brazeness about her ability to defend herself if it wasn't for the fact that deep down, she knew it was true. She wasn't naive like some of her friends when it came to admitting there really was something messed up in their city. Her expression finally softened as she did think back to her child. Certainly her her two eldest would have more than likely shaken their heads and said she had it coming for sticking her nose where it didn't belong, but her youngest? He could barely function on his own... She couldn't just sacrifice herself, and it shamed her to think that a young woman was telling her this.
"I suppose you're right, sweetie.. Still, It just feels awful not being able to do anything to help out. Hells, you're not even from Destiny City, are you? Yet here you are with the power to do something." She was a grown a** woman but still felt like she couldn't do anything. There was only so much PTA meetings and attending the Town Hall sessions could do.
"No need to be so formal, hun. I'm Ann. Would you be so kind to tell me what exactly is a Transcendent Knight of Cosmos? And by Cosmos, do you mean all of that?" A quick handwave to the cloudy sky above was made with her free hand before it was tucked back into it's position cross her chest in a patient wait.

"No I'm not but I have lived here for years, I consider it as much my home as Orléans." She said with a smile, she did wonder what her home land was like now, did they have their own powered war over there? She decided to use her aspect to try and make the woman feel better. She flicked a finger over the surface of her ring as she was enveloped by the silvery sheen of starlight her touch becoming heavenly like her princess. She gently laid a hand on the woman's shoulder.
"Ann, I'm sure you do more than your fair share as a mother." She tried to assure the woman.
She nodded as the woman waved to the sky. "Come lets find a place to sit, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, but fair warning alot of it is probably going to sound insane." She said with a giggle.
"A thousand years ago the galaxy was filled with many great kingdoms built with magic. My ancestors belonged to the greatest kingdom of them all, the empire of Cosmos, princess of the stars. They were a knight of her's and the rulers of one her great cities. But then a darkness came on the Galaxy and the kingdoms fell to an evil know as Chaos. Now in this city that ancient war has been restarted as people of order who have reawakened like myself fight against agents of chaos who are the people who make monsters like the thing I just fought." She explained. "And my transcendence refers to these glowing markings." She said motioning to them. "They are a symbol of my bond to my city in outer space. They make it so that my soul can never be corrupted by chaos nor can they steal it from my body." Aspect of Cosmos The silvery sheen of starlight covers the Knights of the Cosmos, and their touch is just as heavenly. It's warm and pleasant to most, but acidic and painful to corrupted beings. For the followers of Chaos, physical contact with one of these Knights feels like a mild chemical burn: although it does little in the way of damage, it's hard to tolerate it.

What a cheerful girl this was! Ann could not help but think that to herself as she watched the girl glow and reach out to touch her shoulder. It was a comforting feeling, not too overwhelming but definitely not what she was feeling a few moments ago. Was this part of the whole magical power thing?
In this state, she only nodded as she was pulled over, in a slight daze and bliss from the aura that the young woman gave off. But as they sat down, her mind cleared, and the frown came back. Of course she wanted to ask just what exactly the girl did to her, but she would be patient and listen to her tale It wasn't as if she was in any particular rush.
Monsters and Chaos and wars in the stars and all sorts of confusing things. It sounded more like one of the videogames her youngest played than something that could be real. But she KNEW that had to be the case. That would explain the monsters like the one following her. And it could explain why her son was out at night too.. Maybe he was fighting.
"Wait, you stated that your soul can never be corrupted.. But does that mean normal people who aren't you, who don't glow, can be corrupted? Who's targeted? And who are these 'awakened' people that are fighting? Are children part of this too? Who's the leader? Why hasn't the government done anything to stop this?!"

A solem look came on Hyperborea's face. "Yes, normal people and other powered people who aren't transcended. I'm one of only a handful of people with this protection. They can corrupt them and turn them into agents of chaos or worse if an inexperienced agent is doing the corruption they turn them into monsters like the thing I just fought. I've lost many friends like that." She admitted grimly.
"They'll target anyone as far as I can tell, though I believe they prefer people who seem like they can bring something to the fight. Really it depends on the agent. As for awakened order people they are knights and sailor senshi, people who's souls are the reborn souls of the ancient warriors who died a thousand years ago or people like me who are direct descendants of those warriors. I awoke about a month after my 14th birthday and I'm the youngest knight I know of however I have seen younger senshi called chibis who are actual children, though I don't think they fight as often as older senshi and knights, thankfully." She explained honestly.
"The leader of the chaos group know as the Negaverse is Queen Metalia. But order doesn't really have leaders, the closest we get is our royals, but they are more just super powered knights and senshi. Even, my princess I've only seen once and never had a chance to speak to. For the most part we all have to make our own choices on how to best fight this war. As for why the government hasn't done anything..." She shrugged. "Maybe they don't know, maybe they know there is nothing they can do, or maybe chaos has already entangled them."She said with a sigh, it was something she had considered before though she had no proof.

Insanity. That's what this was. The ramblings of an insane young woman who needed assistance. Or it would have been if Ann had been told this information in her own youth. But she KNEW of attacks that happened in her world. And she saw on the news over and over about people being mauled by beasts with no explanation. She had seen the pictures of kids in funny outfits fighting against an unknown military. And she just wished she could close her eyes and mind and decided 'you know what, this isn't my problem.' Lord knows she wanted to, but she couldn't.
"Sweetie. Tell me. How can I be one of these warriors? How can I help to protect my children with a power like you do?"

Hyperborea rubbed the back of her head. It was so unfair the negaverse could make a soldier out of anyone they wanted to pluck off the streets but order was limited to just those chosen by the cauldron or whatever cosmic force decided who received a true starseed. Here was this woman, who wanted to fight, who had a noble cause to take up arms. But Hyperborea could do nothing for her but hope she had the potential.
"That's difficult to answer. You need to have a senshi or knight's potential, we call it having a true starseed and there's no real way to be sure if you have that or not til you awaken at least not that I know of. If you have have senshi potential a talking cat will sense you and awaken you but if you have knight potential..." She thought for a minute on how best to explain it. "Well we knight are given power through a force called the code, when it feels you are ready or when you really need it. It will send you a glowing object that will become your weapon, if you touch it you will be transformed into a page." She said summoning her staff to her hand as if to demonstrate.
"I awoke when I tried to fight one of the monsters, it threw me against a wall and probably would have killed me. But I received my weapon and after that I became Hyperborea." She explained figuring her own example would be helpful.

"A talking cat, huh...? I guess that means I need to spend more times in alleyways." Ann smiled at her own joke, even though she knew exactly how dangerous doing that would be. But if she could do it for her kids... Then there would be no hesitation at all. But this Code, this whole not knowing what force will tell her that she was ready or not.. That made things complicated.
And the stories of this young woman fighting the monsters and awakening... It made the mother's stomach drop a little.
"I've been fighting these things a long time. Nothing as big as tonight's was, but I've seen them around, I've used my bats and my sticks to knock them out and poof them just as you have... Maybe I'm really not made to be doing this." And yet how disgusting it was to see that children like Hyperborea were out here fighting. What a mockery of creation this was!
"Don't worry lass, I'll figure something out. I don't care if I don't have as much strength or skills as you do, I will find a way to try to keep Destiny City safe, just like you do."

Kapoodles Here's a gift, you can add it to art if you'd like. Hyperborea giggled at the joke. "They tend to walk around town looking for more senshi to awaken. They're part of an ancient alien race called Mauvians, though we just call them Guardian cats. You'll know if you find one cause they have a star mark on their forehead." She explained.
Hyperborea let out a sigh it was in part exhaustion and in part amusement. "I won't be able to talk you out of it will I. Truly I'm not sure I would want to anyway. I honestly hope I can count you among my sisters in arms one day." She said with a smile. "Here, I want you to have this Ann." She said as she pulled a Hope Pendent from her sash. The warm glowing crystal dangled from it's chain.
"I call it a Hope Pendent, they're gifts I make up in a magic forge in my city. I hope it can light your path from here on." She said, it wasn't much but she hoped it might at least serve as a nice glow stick for the woman.
"Please be careful, I lost my own mother to one of those things, I don't want you're child to experience that sort of loss." She earnestly implored the woman, deciding to be honest about her experience.
"If you fight them, never let up strike hard and fast and don't stop till they're nothing but dust. And if you ever meet someone with a strange dark military uniform with a weird weapon then please just run, run as fast and as far as you can. They are the masters of those monsters and while some of them can be reasoned with there are others who can and will kill you on the spot." She advised the mother.

"Of course not, sweetie. I'm a mom. I have to be just as stubborn as my kids are to even keep up!" While Anne was sweet and earnest alot of the time, she wouldn't even lie, she had a stubbornness streak that would put a donkey to shame! And protecting her babies was one of the biggest things she'd never change.
The pendant was looked at curiously before taking the warm crystal from the young lady and placing it around her neck. Even through her shirt she could feel it, and it was comforting.
"Thank you... And don't worry, I'm reckless, but luckily not incredibly stupid. I know what I have to lose, and when to stop. Hopefully you're right, and I can find a way to fight along side you kids. Maybe then I can protect you too." It was one thing to lose a mother, and that was an expected thing to happen in life, to lose your mother. But to lose a child? There was a whole 'nother type of pain there experienced by far fewer. And now that she knew this child, she would fear for her too.
"Do me a kindness dear... I will do as you say, I will be weary and watch out for those whom you speak of, but I'd also like you to check in every now and again. I dunno, I live right in this building, Last name Rhodes. Maybe one of these days when you're ready for a break or a nap or even a snack on the run, stop by. Just let this old lady know you're doing okay."

"Cauldron willing, you will Ann." Hyperborea was of course far too young to imagine what it might feel like to lose a child but she certainly knew what it was like to loose a parent and a friend. She was determined to not let Ann end up like her mother or like poor Evan. She would have to step up her patrols around here, perhaps ask the Heralds to assist her.
"Ha, you're not old yet Ann." She said with a giggle. "But I will though in exchange next time we meet you need to let me show you something truely magical, my city of Hyperborea." She said with a smile.
"Now you do me a kindness and take the night off, I'll do clean sweep for anymore youma. Don't worry I can sense them..." She said tapping her temple. "...so I won't miss any of them. So just relax for tonight."
She turned to leave. "Au revoir Ann, it was really nice meeting you. May the stars light your path."
