It'd been awhile since Marisol had seen the Ares Chosen from her first few days on campus. The ballerina had spent many mid-mornings in the gym practicing against dummies and even other chosens--ones she'd never met and had no information about. Now, she felt she was ready to go up against someone who knew what they were doing and Mathilda had been her first thought. She'd found the other woman in the Hearth as breakfast was winding down and proposed a sparring match in an hour or so. And now that the time of the invitation was coming, she began to keep an eye out. She'd arrived early and reserved a sparring room for them. Now she just hoped she didn't fall flat on her a** and make a huge fool of herself.

Mathilda stretched her arms over her head and yawned. Earlier in the day, she had come across Marisol and the girl had offered up a spar. Mathilda had readily agreed, and thus was now making her way over to the area. Grinning, she waved at the girl as she walked into the room. " Guten Tag, Marisol!"

"I'd respond in Irish but I'd probably butcher it," she chuckled, before adding a, "Buenos días." One of these days, she should sit down and learn about her heritage and how to speak the languages of her relations. For now it was time to get down to business. "Ready to spar?"

Grinning, Mathilda nodded. She wasn't familiar with the Irish language, but hoped to hear it soon. Taking her bag off her shoulder, she removed her weapon. "It's dulled, in case later you want to practice blows with weapons." Moving to the middle of the room, she dropped her body, and loosened her arms. "Come at me, girl!"

Marisol chuckled, "I hope it's dulled," she agreed as she headed over to where she'd put her practice whip down. Curling her fingers around the handle she lifted it up, "It's padded," she confirmed in case the other woman was curious. Turning to her opponent, "Do you need to warm-up first?" She wanted to make sure they were both absolutely ready before beginning. That wouldn't happen in the real world when it came time to fight but this was to hone skills, not to mimic that environment. If it was even possible to. Marisol's Health: 50 - 3 (Ranged) = 47 HP
Initiative: 2 + 15 = 17

Marisol had to admire the woman's confidence. It must have been easy if she had been fighting since she was nearly a child. But there would be time to consider that later, right now, she had to focus on the duel and give it her all. And if she was still a beginner, which she was, focus and determination were two skills that were ingrained into her very being. "Don't get cocky, now," she teased and then set to business. With the whip unfurled, she began to move--slow casual steps--before lashing out her arm and sending the leather to smack into Mathilda's side. It was a good thing this was a practice weapon; that would've produced a stinging welt otherwise. Marisol's Health: 50 - 3 (Ranged) = 47 HP
Damage Dealt: Roll + 1 = 100% x 4 = 4 DMG

Gritting her teeth, Mathilda moved back as the whip hit her side. "It's not cockiness, per say, just excitement. Can't remember the last time I got to fight someone for fun." Moving back, she ran a bit forward, launching her dagger at Marisol. Mathilda grinned as her dagger snagged Marisol. While the girl was distracted, she sped by her to pick up the dull blade, flipping back and bracing for Marisol's next strike. Mathilda's Health: 46 HP
Damage Dealt: 4 +1 = 5 = 4 damage

The ballerina didn't take the time to point out it had been a joke. Instead she focused on her opponent. She was quick and agile but she wasn't the only one. Acting as though she was going to repeat the same move, she bent her arm back then dropped down into a crouch without explanation. It gave her a perfect line towards the other woman's legs and she lashed out, the whip smacking against the shin and curling down towards the ankle. Marisol's Health: 47 - 4 = 43 HP
Damage Dealt: Roll + 1 = 100% x 4 = 4 DMG
Marisol's Weapon: Whip (4 Base; +1 Hit)

Grunting, Mathilda avoided landing on her hit leg. Standing up from her crouched position, she feigned left, throwing her dagger in an arch towards Marisol. "You're pretty good with that thing, if I may say so." She smiled as the dagger came in contact with Marisol's leg. "An eye for an eye. But please dear. Don't aim for the eyes." Mathilda's Health: 46 - 4 = 42 HP
Damage Dealt: 3 +1 = 4 = 4 DMG

"Only if you're an enemy," she winked--it'd be poor form to take out the eyes of an ally. She wound up, pretending to aim for the woman's other leg but at the last moment the whip seemed to rise up. It hit against the woman's wrist, wrapping over top before falling back to the ground. "I'm ambidextrous if you want to replicate that move," whether she was serious about that. Well it was hard to tell. Marisol's Health: 43 - 4 = 30 HP
Damage Dealt: Roll + 1 = 200% x 4 = 8 DMG

Grinning, Mathilda ran up, ducking under Marisol's arm and bringing the dagger right up to her heart. "These may be practice, but I'm not the cruel. A hit like that would hurt no matter what." Drawing back she rotated her wrist, alleviating the slight ache. "Really? That's cool! Must make things really easy!" Mathilda's Health: 34 HP Damage Dealt: 8 Mathildas Weapon: Dagger (4 damage//+1 to roll)

In a fight, the move would have been a massive startling moment as the woman's dagger came near her heart. Here though, it seemed far more bold than anything else. If she'd had nearly any other weapon, or was more interested in using her own body, such an attack could have cost the other woman dearly. "Not very useful in ballet, really," she chuckled. Although in other things... "It has its perks though in the right circumstances." Such as changing which hand held the weapon, as she took it now into her left hand. She grinned as she cracked it towards the woman and the practice whip slammed into Mathilda's left shoulder. Just as effective. Marisol's Health: 30 - 8 = 22 HP
Damage Dealt: Roll + 1 = 100% x 4 = 4 DMG
Marisol's Weapon: Whip (4 Base; +1 Hit)
