There was a bike machine in the gym; it wasn't the same as the real thing, but after a talk with Max, it would stand in until the 'travel ways' opened enough for him to get his own equipment in here. Spinning wasn't riding but it did help him get some of the restlessness out of his system, meant that he could sit stiller and actually sleep at night. Half an hour. Maybe fourty-five minutes. Music blasting in his ears and eyes mostly closed, and Asher came out calmer. He stepped onto the training fields with some of the tension gone out of his shoulders, and stood on the edge staring at someone shooting arrows at a dummy. His focus was off, too relaxed to pay too much attention to what was happening immediately around him.

Asher had been enjoying a spin class, Ed had been on a run around the compound. He was still a bit out of breath as he spotted him heading out of the gym. Wiping the sweat off his brow with the back of one darkly inked forearm, he wandered over. Realizing Asher was in la-la land, he gave the other man a small poke in the side, possibly with intent to startle him back to reality. Which was rather hypocritical, considering how much he'd dislike someone doing the same to him. "Something interesting over there?" Head tilted slightly, he followed Asher's line of sight to to the archer, watching them curiously.

He twitched, turned -- startled and on edge -- and then, seeing it was Ed, frowned instead. He was able to pause and think about it for a long moment before he reached out to punch him in the arm. Asher didn't pull it; it was hard enough to push him back, grumpy, though their new strength would absorb a lot of it. "Don't sneak up on people." It had a bit of a bite, behind the usual edge of Asher's voice. "Just imagine if I'd been armed."

Considering how laid back the dark haired man seemed, that twitch had been a pretty satisfying reaction; exactly what he'd been hoping for. Except for the frown, perhaps. That easy smile Ed had seen the other day suited him better. Still, the Ares had to grin down at him, a little smug, a little amused. Maybe even the tiniest bit apologetic, given the negative response. "You don't have a weapon in your hands." That, at least, seemed obvious. Granted, it didn't mean Asger didn't have one hidden away, but Edward liked to imagine his reaction time was developed enough to get out of the way of anything more dangerous then a punch to the arm. He rubbed the spot where Asher's fist had connect, though not as if it'd hurt much.

"I could have one." It tipped his chin up, arms folded across his chest; apparently Asher not worn out enough to run back to his room and have a lie down. He flicked a look, instead, to the stash of practice weapons waiting for them across the training field, if they wanted to partake, and then raised an eyebrow at Ed. Meaningful. A beat, and then he reached out to give Ed another a little shove. Then he took off toward the weapons.

"Could, didn't." Rash, but...
Suddenly Asher was moving, making a sprint for the weapons cache they had access to for training. Edward had time to be surprised, and then he was moving as well, long legs making it easy to catch up.
To pull ahead.
He made a grab for thick handle, not really paying attention to what it was he was picking until he'd swung it around before himself, brows arching as he realized it was a giant ******** hammer.
They were protected by the deities,right? Otherwise....this could hurt a little.

"You sure you wanna do this?" He was grinning, a little over confident, cocky. Possibly not without good reason, given what he had gotten up to before coming here, but this was an unfamiliar weapon. He didn't really wait for an answer. If Asher hadn't been in the mood for a spar, he wouldn't have gone racing off for a weapon. So he swung, letting the weight of the hammer and momentum direct it in a smooth arch at the smaller man's torso. HP: 50 WEA: Heavy 10 DMG: 5

"Are you ******** kidding me?" The question was bitten off as the hammer swung through him, a somewhat glancing blow that didn't strike him fully, but the force was still sharp, bruising. He reached out to grab a dagger off the edge of the table as he tumbled out of the way. It came to hand surprisingly easily. He sprung back to his feet and stepped forward, stabbing toward Ed, and tried not to look too surprised when he hit. HP: 45/50 WEA: Agile Melee, base 4 DMG: 8

"Well," and he had to pause for a moment as Asher lunged and the dagger it home. It should have hurt worst than it did. It wasn't painless, but it wasn't what it should have been. All the same, it came with a quick intake of breath and a soft hiss before Edward could continue. "I'm just not used to people holding their ground against me." The not your size was left off, but implied. The hammer came up again, this time for baseball stance styled swing, going for his shoulder. The cockiness remained, and seemed unlikely to budge for the moment. HP: 42 WEA: Heavy; 10 DMG: 10

Again, Ed struck -- harder, this time, and Asher stumbled and fell, losing his balance a second time and his breath as well, this time. But he paused for just a moment, waited until Ed was close again -- and then, viper quick, he darted another slash out at him, striking hard. "That thing should be illegal." His tone was aghast, disgusted maybe. "Who carries a giant ******** hammer?" HP: 35/50 WEA: Agile Melee, base 4 DMG: 8

Ed had to suck in a breath as the dagger hit again, but he couldn't help grinning all the same, shoulders rolling in answer to Asher's grievance. "A chosen of Ares, that's who." Maybe it was a little over kill for a spar, but in a real fight, against something really dangerous, it would probably come in very handy. "Hey, no one said you had to pick a dagger," And this came with a very subtle peek of his tongue before he would taking a step forward and bringing the axe around for another swing at the smaller man. He was a little over zealous, the arch of the swing falling a tad short and only grazing the other man. Ah well, a hit was a hit. HP: 34 WEA: Heavy; Base 10 DMG: 5

Mostly Asher ducked under the blow -- and used his momentum to step in under Ed's swing and smack him solidly in one side with the little dagger. It showed off the benefit of the weapon well, solidly, and left Asher up close and personal. He raised both eyebrows at Ed. "Maybe I don't need to compensate for anything." HP: 30/50 WEA: Agile Melee, base 4 DMG: 8

"Ow." it could have been in response to either jab, both seemed equally as brutal, and he jerked away from the blade, unable to resist the automatic urge to rub at the place the blade had struck him. No blood, which was still fairly amazing, but he ached a bit, a lingering pain. Or was that his pride? Hard to tell for sure. "And who says I'm compensating for anything?" It came out easy, ideal even, but there was a part of him that actually cared if Asher believed the large weapon was in any way compensation. Not sure why he cared, just did. He swung again, attacking rather hastily, and without any proper aim. Maybe Asher's banter was starting to rattle him a bit. HP: 26 WEA: Heavy; Base 10 DMG: 5

Of course, even Ed's rough, random swings with that monster of a weapon send Asher stumbling back a few steps. He swiped at Ed's arm as it slid past, and he caught him, but nowhere near as hard as he had before. Daggers just didn't seem to have the same force behind them. Something something science. He pulled a face. "You're blushing. That's how I know." Whether it was true or not, Asher sounded confident. HP: 25/50 WEA: Agile Melee, base 4 DMG: 4

He hadn't been, Abu color attributed to the exertion of the spar and swinging the heavy hammer around, but he was now; a soft spread of darker pink just at the tops of his cheeks before he squared his hat and seemed to shake it off, swinging at the same time, perhaps a touch harder than was strikeout nessicary, and utterly unconscious. It was probably fortunate that he missed that time. The head of the hammer catching nothing but the edge of fabric. "Only a few ways to know for certain." And since Asher wasn't his roommate, one less than that. HP: 22 WEA: Heavy; Base 10 DMG: 0
