Cinnabar  Cinnabar was doing her job as always, seeing over one of the projects her Diamond had commanded her to do, and that was scouting for spots to put any buildings. This world she had been sent to had many suitable places, but it was her job to lead a search party to find the perfect spot for a specific building that needed to be built. Right now the group was in a rocky area with cliffs towering over them. Despite what many gems had come to the conclusion about, Cinnabar was quote enjoying her stay here on the planet. Most gems she had encountered didn't like this rock in space, but not her. There was so many new things to discover, and she was getting inspired by it all. It only made her drive to find more about this planet stronger, and she always loved it when she was able to do these sorts of jobs where she explored the planet.

Earth.
Earth, Earth, Earth.
Earth.
There was only one emotion to describe the Pearl's opinion of the planet: Absolute, unadulterated hate. She couldn't hide her distaste; acting quite overt with her harrumphs regarding the environment and turning up her nose in a morose sneer at the very mention of humans. Yet... She always found herself on the planet; wandering, looking, actually... adventuring. She hated it, but she also explored it. Well, it was the only thing she could do while her mistress and the rest of Blue Diamond's court took to the colonization of the planet.
Regarding this little onset, the pearl found herself following the edge of a rocky outcrop; her arms tucked beneath her bosom. She was preciously close to the edge, but showed no fear of falling; her balance was quite keen and it proved to add a small pinch of excitement to an otherwise boring venture. The gem was alone for quite some time, considering a myriad of things as she stared at the ground, but when she raised her eyes she found herself with some company in the distance. The splash of red against the cerulean of the sky could only mean one thing: It was another gem.
Raising a hand in greeting, she waved to flag down Cinnabar's attention. "Hello there!" she cried to them. "Over here, hello!"

Cinnabar looked up and saw what seemed to be a Pearl, but there was no one with them. Weird, Cinnabar had never seen a Pearl all by themselves before. Not only that, but it really wasn't safe to go around this planet by oneself. You could be attacked by the natives or hurt yourself, and no one would ever find you. Why could this Pearl be all alone? Well, there was only one way to find out ", Hello! What are you doing up there? Surely it isn't safe, especially all by yourself. This world is dangerous! You could fall and crack your gem!" Cinnabar then pointed to a spot of the cliff that the Pearl could easily get down from. Surely this Pearl understood why being alone was so dangerous ", Why don't you come down and join us? It is much safer if us gems stay as a group!"

There was one thing Pearl couldn't deny: Even if the planet was absolute rubbish, being in the company of other gems made it bearable. A smile traced her lips into a curve as she called down, "Yes, of course! I'd love to!"
Her line of sight landed on the spot indicated by Cinnabar. Trotting a few steps over to it and then dropping down with a certain grace attributed to most, if not all, pearls, Pearl landed with a dusty thump at the bottom of the cliff. Dusting off remnants of soil from her person, she forced a friendly smile on her face to hide her absolute disgust. For the gem, her hate of the planet seemed limitless.
"Thank you for your concern," she said, bowing to her fellow gems. "I know. It was must odd for a service gem like myself to be wandering these"—she glanced around toward the cliff before her eyes rested back on Cinnabar—"wastes by my lonesome, but you needn't worry—I've been avoiding danger like the humans for quite some time. I've wandered enough to know where it is safe. But praytell, what exactly are you doing? Work appointed from your matriarch?"

"Even if you know where the humans usually reside, they are known to move about. They do not stay still like the green substance found all over this planet does. There have been a few reports of them going way off from the areas we thought they would not pass," She dusted some of the dirt off her that had landed on her from the Pearl's landing. Compared to this Pearl, Cinnabar was a giant! She towered over even her fellow group she was leading about ", We are scouting for a suitable spot for a new building, as commanded by our Diamond. They sent me to look over this group as we search this area for the perfect spot. If you wish to you can come with. If not, I can send two of my gems to escort you back."Even if sending a few of her gems off would put her team in more danger than being all together, she felt that this Pearl would be better suited for back at the colony. She had already shown a large distaste for this planet, and Cinnabar was sure that she didn't want to come along for a boring scouting trip. Maybe not though. Perhaps the Pearl wouldn't mind coming along?

Pearl placed a hand upon her cheek and let out a breath. "I supposed you're right," she commented to the nature of humans.
Yet, she seemed to say this more to the quartz's middle rather than her face. It always surprised her how large a quartz could be. Come the offer to travel with the group, Pearl smiled; internally relenting to return to the court and just... stand around looking pretty for matriarchs' know how long.
"I would love to join you," she said, smiling. "Where are you headed to? Anyplace that's better than... here, I hope."

"We were looking for a good spot along these cliffs. Our diamond wants to have this building either looking over a cliff, or to be built into the wall of one. For now we are checking the bottom of these cliffs to see what areas look the safest from the bottom, mark that spot, then go to the top of the cliffs and look from the top to see if it really is stable enough." Cinnabar started to walk along side the cliff, her team following her as she began looking up at the rock formations to see if they would be any good ", I believe they wanted it to be a sort of rest area and living quarters for higher ranking gems who are visiting the planet, since the cliffs face the river over there," she then turned and pointed to the river in the distance ", I believe they thought it would be pretty if one could look from their room and see the river out there, but still be safe from it."Unoderi It is alright! You can take the time you need. Also, Cinnabars are actually not a quartz, although they do resemble one with their symmetry. They are actually a Sulfide mineral that contains mercury. Perhaps Cinnabar could be n the same level as a quartz?

Pearl cast blue eyes to the cliff side and then to the river in the distance; her mind instantly forming the image of an intricate spire shooting upward toward the heavens. Her eyes twinkled at the prospect; what a lovely structure to be made for the matriarchs!
Pressing her palms together, Pearl said, "Though I... lack the knowledge of such efforts, I do think this would be a lovely area for the aristocracy. I know gems of Blue Diamond's court would adore the sight here."
VerityHattress Whoops! Excuse my mistake, aha. As for being akin to a quartz, feel free to choose that for yourself~

The gem gave a nod to the smaller, eyes on the cliff for now. She had to do her job after all. She didn't want to think of what could happen if she didn't. Probably some sort of terrible punishment ", I think so. After all, the diamonds know best. If they think this area is suitable, then it is." The group came to a part of the cliffs that definitely not safe, Cinnabar looking up and knowing right away they needed to be careful ", Listen up everyone. This section of the cliffs is terribly unstable. Everyone be on their guard for falling rocks." Unoderi Hmmm... I'll see if I like it later on. How do you feel about putting our gems in a little bit of danger?

Pearl's eyes drew up to the cliff side, eyes widening to the whites at the sheer momentous size of it. It certainly looked like a danger, but at the same time, it offered to all of them a challenge. Yes, she was a serviceable vessel. Yes, her very purpose was to look pretty.
But even she could be tempted by the sport of something.
"Yes, gems, please do be careful," Pearl said, a finger twitching in a desire to join in their hard labor. "It is quite dangerous!"

Cinnabar gave a nod to what Pearl said, a quick smile before leading her team onward. This trip was hopefully not going to be a dangerous one, but soon Cinnabar's wishes for a safe trip would end. "Very dangerous, so be alert all times. You can never really know when something might happen. Minus the Pearl, we are all trained for this sort of stuff, but still need to be careful." With that said, the group continued on until Cinnabar stopped abruptly, looking up at the cliffs. What followed was Cinnabar quickly getting in the defensive position, ready to push anyone out of the way if she so needed to. Before them was a rather large landslide coming at them, and the only thing they could really do for now was run away from it "Everyone run!"Even if she herself was poofed, Cinnabar was going to make sure every single one of her teammates and the Pearl got to safety. Unoderi Hello cliff rocks. Meet fancier rocks.

Pearl could only look on in sheer horror as she felt the thrum of the earth and the sudden cascade of rocks fall toward Cinnabar and her team. Hands covered her mouth before a yelp could be swallowed up by the tumble and crash from the cliff side; the gem's eyes darting about widely for some place to take cover.
Unfortunately, with nowhere in sight, the Pearl was forced to summon her butterfly swords and slash at the debris headed her way; the boulders split in two before the could hit the bottom. Looking around at her fellow gems, her eyes squinted and honed in on the taller gem.
"By the matriarchs!" Pearl cried. "Be careful, Cinnabar! That's dangerous! E-everyone else, please, see to her safety!"
Yet, as she said this, the Pearl remained unaware of the larger boulder headed down toward her.

Cinnabar noticed the boulder coming toward the Pearl and two of her teammates who were checking on her. This boulder was definitely the largest yet, with a few smaller ones following all around it. Without a second thought, she rushed over and pushed the three gems way out of harms way, causing the three to tumble some as she faced the oncoming boulders. There was no time for her to move out of the way herself, the largest boulder hitting her right away and causing her lower torso to be crushed under its weight. However, she wasn't done yet. She knew she would lose form soon, but she tried her best to catch any spare boulders in her arms, managing to stop all of them so no one but her got hurt at all. With one last look around, she gave a soft smile ", You're all safe. I succeeded."Then she was gone, only her gem remaining as it fell to the ground unharmed by all this. Her team stood in shock, hardly believing what had just happened. Their captain had given up her safety just to make sure none of them were harmed. None of them had ever seen her poofed before, even if her kind were not the strongest of her level of gems, usually where most quartz were found. Unoderi Understood! If I take a while as well, don't be afriad to send me a pm. Been going through some family issues, so I have been busy.

Though it was incredibly out of character for her, and she would mentally rebuke herself later for her rudeness, Pearl pushed passed those beside her and went to Cinnabar's gem. She dropped to her knees and gently picked up the circular mass, cradling it in her splayed palms.
"You didn't have to do this," she told the gem, shaking her head. "But your sacrifice wasn't in vain. All of the gems here"—she held up Cinnabar's gem to her team and shared a sorrowful smile with some of them—"are safe because of you, myself included. Thank you. Thank you so much."
Sighing, she looked to one of the team members and asked, "Do you know when she will reform? Hours? Days? I want to thank her personally."

They all shook their heads no, one of them explaining that none of them had ever seen her poof before, and they never had talked to Cinnabar about it. Another suggested they head back and report in because of the accident, giving them some time to coordinate for another trip now that they knew what areas of the cliff were dangerous. Besides, Cinnabar was not only their leader on this trip, but their tank. If anything else happened to them, it would only cause more casualties that could possibly be worse than just simply poofing.
