This RP is open to EVERYONE. Rogues of all shapes and sizes can be drawn by the ruckus that the Nergui are making. As they are on the march, the horde are generally less aggressive - though non-lion and non-hyena species should be on their guard.
- Rogue lions and hyenas are being accepted as members. Please apply via the sub-forum. - Scouting for higher ranks has begun! So if you're looking to climb the ladder, it's time to start showing off! There's no better time to do it than right now!
exclaim Please note: whilst rogues will not be openly attacked during this RP, if any outsider shows aggression, it will be met in kind. Tread carefully! Have a character you want to have 'roughed up'? Contact Kimaria via PM to have it arranged ;D
Most importantly, have fun!

Prizes: [Raffled at the end. 1 post = 1 ticket]
The oldest of three cubs and large in size, this cub was sired [unknowingly] by a god and therefore a seer. This gives her greater advantage over other females in the horde regarding ranks as she is also of Founder blood.
The third-born in a litter of five, this boy was born to a loving couple within the Nergui. The mother is a gruff but kindly orc-inspired lioness and the father is gaining renown within the horde. They will be raised with more kindness and care than many cubs. Colourist: Seaki
The second-born in a litter of five. This girl was born to a loving couple within the Nergui. The mother is a gruff but kindly orc-inspired lioness and the father is gaining renown within the horde. They will be raised with more kindness and care than many cubs. Colourist: Seaki

The roars and jeers of the Nergui horde could be heard for some distance, bouncing off of the sheer cliffs that had shadowed them through the hottest part of the day. With word that some promotions were in the works, adrenaline had begun to stir through the blood of many a member - even those who had not previously shown any interest.
A ring of lions and hyenas had formed around the newest pair to step forth and try out their skills in combat.
One had joined the Nergui in disgrace and chosen to join them rather than face further humiliation and death as a slave. His name was now Tolui. The other was Kefir, a beaten seer, forced to bend to the will of the horde or meet a grizzly fate. They'd been at the bottom of the pecking order, only just above a slave for a long time now. They didn't dare hope for warlord status, but to earn a little respect would go a long way to making life easier.
"Stop dancing and fight!" An impatient snarl came from one of the onlookers.
The two males charged, meeting with tooth and fang.

Gael stood in the circle, watching the two lions crash together in a heap of tooth, fur, and claw. He roared his approval as blood was drawn, his own blood boiling with the urge to jump in there as well. His spirits were incredibly high today as his mate, Gren, had just giving birth to five healthy, strong cubs. His mood was good, his adrenaline was pumping, and now that he had a family to make proud he knew he needed to make a move within the pride. Already he had bested the former Warlord's son in a battle, although he didn't count that as very impressive. Nokhoi was a disgrace to his father's name, in his eyes, and he was sure others in the pride felt the same way. He wasn't going to go from being a simple Braak to a higher rank by defeating him. The question was, what should he do to try to climb the ladder? He wanted to impress Gren and his cubs. The sounds of battle in the distance drew a muscled lion to the edge of the Nergui's hoard. Zeki watched from a distance at first, curiosity getting the better of him. His pride had long ago dissolved, forced out of its homelands and away from the constant battling of the area. That didn't mean his claws didn't yearn to rend flesh from bone, though. His father had been the proud leader of the Burkutesht, winning that title by brutality and strength, and Zeki had every thought to uphold his father's honor by doing the same. He approached the lions slowly, careful not to disrupt the fighting that was going on. From the words that he caught in the air, this was some sort of battle to rise up in the ranks. A little smirk crossed his lips - wouldn't that be grand if he made this his new home and captured a title befitting his 'prince' status? These seemed like brutes, he was sure he would fit in. He had to wait his turn, though. Then he could prove himself. [OOC: Please keep me out of the raffles for obvious reasons XD]

The sounds of the roars made the laughing beast curious as to what they were and he followed the sounds. The rogue hyena padded towards the sounds cautiously. Lions were about and well it was safe to say that lions and hyenas didn't get along all that well. Already he could see many lions. Though this fighting made him almost want to join in. Ochieng listened to the fierce roars that were coming out of the area. He wanted to keep his family safe but this had drawn his attention. He wanted to know more about what was going on and decided to slip away. He could see two males fighting and he peered at them all. It seemed that he was not the only one who was drawn to the sound of fighting. He noticed another lion joining and a hyena. The males eyes seemed to lock for a second as both the lion and hyena looked at one another. Neither wanted the hostility as apparent from their look. Curiosity was what drew them here. Might as well check it out.

She wasn't quite sure what she was doing here. Then again, Kimya wasn't sure what she was doing anywhere she went, now that her pride had disbanded. In the swamp, she had had ambition: to be a Ghost and to keep her pride safe, but now... Now she wasn't sure what to make of anything at all. She had been attracted by the noise, the sounds of violence both scared her and drew her in, especially when she realized it was controlled violence. Perhaps there was some sort of duel or challenge going on? What a curious concept. Creeping forward, she tried to keep her head down so that she wouldn't be caught by someone who thought her to be intruding. She paused a few times, catching sight of two lions, large and muscular and a hyena too! It was at the sight of the hyena staring off a large pale lion that she froze and carefully walked around them so that she was on the lion's side. If the hyena had turned and ran, she didn't want to be what it ran into. Then she continued forward, carefully avoiding the other lion, dark-maned and without a hyena, but still intimidating. She came to the circle of lions, slipping in between the others and watched the fight below, her eyes fixed on the two fighting males with a morbid curiosity in her eyes. Glancing to the lion closest to her, a pale tan male and couldn't help, but ask. "What are they fighting for?"

Raubtier was standing in a part of the crowd consisting mainly of his fellow Nokhoi. The roars intensified whenever one of the oponents got closer to the circle of onlookers. He snapped his jaws and wouldn't hesitate to n** a tail or limb if the combatants should get too close. The crowd around him was acting like a bloodthirsty beast and he loved it!
"Get him!" he roared, adding his voice to the roar of the crowd, but it was anyones guess who he was talking to. In fact, as long as someone got someone else he'd be pleased.
Another hyena gave him a shove and he turned with bared teeth.--- Eerin growled back. She couldn't see properly where she was standing before and had pushed herself to the front of the circle. If this pup had a problem with that she was prepared to fight for the best spot. "Problem?" she asked, using the Nergui language. She had joined fairly recently but she had made a point of learning the local language. Eerin had a good grasp of basic words and several colorful curses so she figured she was doing ok so far. People seemed to take her more seriously when she used the local language, so she practiced whenever she could.

Gael let out another roar as the fighting continued, his green eyes bright with delight. They had to be nearing their new homeland soon and he had the feeling that when they arrived, there would be many lions that were previously disgraced or lowly that would be able to walk with their heads held high. As much as he enjoying having lions to snarl and snap at, he did wish to see those within his pride succeed. They were as strong as their weakest link, after all. He wanted to be surrounded with proud, strong lions and hyenas. A voice caught him by surprise and he turned his attention away from the fight to find a grey lioness he had never seen before by his side. He was quiet for a moment, wondering if he had missed someone joining the Nergui, before he realized there were quite a few new faces spotted around in the crowd. Rogues, perhaps. "Pride," he said, deciding to answer the female finally. "These two are rather low in the eyes of the hoard, so they're fighting to prove they're worth respecting." Zeki eavesdropped on the pale lion as he spoke with a female. Ah, so it was a show of strength and respect...perfect. He could show off to those gathered, take down any that challenged him, and work his way up the ladder without breaking a sweat! He did notice after a while that the shouting was incomprehensible, though. Perhaps they spoke a different language.

Kimya nodded slowly in understanding. While the male had a thick accent-maybe one connected to that of the pride's?-she had understood his words. To fight your own pride for pride's sake, was an interesting concept to her. Rather than seeming savage, it seemed... rustic. An old-fashioned way of doing things, but one that made sense, despite its age. Traditions were in place for a reason: that reason being they had worked for so many years. The grey lioness watched the fight continue and then began to survey the scene around her too. There were not only lions, but hyenas cheering for the fighters as well. To see two species, so vastly different, come together into one roaring might, it was overwhelming in a wonderful way. This pride, strange and foreign to her, seemed to pulse with strength. The way all of its members could come together as one single entity, regardless of gender or species was something that had been previously unimaginable and Kimya found herself swept away by all the emotion that surrounded her. Glancing at the male beside her, she grinned briefly at him, a silent thank you for his reply. However short, she had felt like she had learned much and wanted to join in with the crowd with her new information. The growl grew into a snarl directed at the fighting lions below. "Come ON!" She growled, her voice lost in the crowd. "Get 'em!" She wasn't sure who she was cheering for, but goodness it felt good to be part of a group again!

So many lions were about. It made his flesh crawl as the laughing beast noticed a few more coming up. It was the hyena's that caught his attention. That was at least a good sign for him. He looked at the one who asked the question, not answering it since he himself did not know the answer. It was when the pale lion spoke that he looked at him for a moment. Worth respecting. Fighting was a good way to prove that. Maybe that and the best hunting kill one could bring back or scavenge up.
Watching the two lions snarl, snap, and bat at each other was actually making him more in the mood to test himself too. He gave a small whoop sound as they clashed. So he'd stay for the entertainment. Why not.
Ochieng brought himself up to his full height. He might be a rogue but to test his skills. He would try his hand at this if he could. The blonde and white male was a good hunter, to prove he was also a good fighter, it would be nice. Even the hyenas around were into this fight.
Some of the words he caught were between words he recognized and then others not. A different language?
"What are they speaking?" He asked curiously.

Under the ragged, dirty cloth she wore draped about her head and shoulders, Malaku'l-Maut's ears swiveled to attention at the sounds of fighting, accompanied by the shouting and jeering that went along with it. Her interest was piqued immediately; today had been boring so far, and it was about time something happened! She wasted no time in moving towards the commotion, and wasn't shy about shouldering into someone if need be. For the most part, it wasn't necessary, as being near Maut wasn't a particularly pleasant experience, as cleanliness was near the bottom of her list of concerns. She had long ago embraced her unsettling appearance and run with it and left personal hygiene well behind her in the process. Oh, she had to remove her precious wrappings and clean herself up now and then, if an assignment necessitated that she be more presentable, but while amongst the horde, she was all too to happy to forego grooming and wrap herself in the cloth she'd never washed and never intended to. All the dirt and old blood just added that little extra something. Once she'd muscled her way up to get a better view of the fight, she chuckled darkly. Ah, yes, this should be good. And there were unfamiliar faces about, too. This had all the makings of being not just good, but interesting! She liked interesting.

The males had broken apart and were circling each other again. Despite all the noise they were making each of them bore only a few scrapes to their faces and shoulders. Eyes locked, the dark male staggered on the uneven terrain and left himself vulnerable.
Tolui, the brown-pelted male, saw the opening and charged again, ramming into the seer hard - so hard that they both lost their footing and tumbled onto the ground, almost crashing into some of the audience. Kurruvar, quite captivated by the fight, snapped at Kefir's heels but was drawn back by a dark lioness at her side. This time Tolui had the seer by the throat, huffing angrily between his teeth.
"Submit!" He growled out, "submit"
Kefir struggled meekly for a moment then went limp and, slowly, Tolui released the defeated lion; throwing up his head to roar his success!
Kurruvar, yowling, wriggled back to the front, eager to see who would step up next.
Mawasii glanced across at Ochieng and grinned, answering his question, "We have our own language, but many of us also speak the common tongue."
Then, she raised her voice and called out to any who might hear, "who's up next? Surely there must be others who want to fight."
--
Ooc: if you have a lion or hyena you wish to have fight, then feel free to have them step up. Just two fighters at any one time! You may also challenge Tolui if you wish since he was the victor of the last match. Fighters may discuss between themselves how they would like the battle to play out, or you may roll a number 1-5 to see who rolls highest (a higher number meaning a good win/attempt)
example: a roll of 1 will mean they put on a poor performance, whereas a 3-5 would be far better. A draw would mean both lions stepping down.
Keep duels down to a couple of posts each, where possible, so that others can have a chance before the end of the RP.

As the two lions finally finished their fight, Zeki roared with the rest of the group. The call for another fight was made and after a moment he shouldered his way through the crowd. His size and scars were testament to the fact that whoever fought him would certainly be in for a ride.
"Anyone care to test the merit and might of a rogue?" he asked with a very faint smirk. Surely, despite his appearance, there would be many who would jump at the chance to battle him to be in the spotlight.
Gael was itching to challenge Tolui simply because he had won, but he knew that would hardly gain him much honor. As a burly rogue shouldered his way through, though, he knew he had to step up to meet the challenge. Moving away from the lioness he had spoken to, he stepped into the open circle. He was smaller than the other male and bore less scars, but hopefully one of those problems would be fixed in this moment.
"Let's see what you've got," he said simply. Zeki turned to the smaller male with a grin before the two descended upon one another, claws and teeth bared from the moment they both lunged.

Their own language. That was interesting. It was something that he might want to pick up just for his own sake and maybe to teach to the little cub he helped watch over. The dark lioness he gave a nod to, "Thank you for that. Glad to know at least I will be able to understand some of you." he watched the loser lay there. Next one to fight. Maybe not yet, he would continue watching the others fight first before he tried to best anyone. Scope out the competition and who may or may not be good to get into a scrap with.
Though at the mention of a fight Vsevolod stepped forward. The dark hyena raised his head up and gave a low whoop. "I am ready for the next fight to whomever wins. Unless someone else wants to fight me." Giving a wicked sure of himself grin at all those around.
