- Background Information -
Personality: Nicola is a care-free woman who loves the outdoors and doesn’t like staying stuck inside too much. She encourages curiosity and is always telling people to take a leap into the unknown. Aside from her free thinking and exploratory spirit she is very serious on the subjects of dark mages, curses and her research into the matters concerning them. She is very dedicated to her studies and sometimes will come off as eccentric on the matter.
Background/Biography: Nicola was the only daughter of her father Silva, the leader of their small village in the west. It was built deep within a channel of canyons as to not be found by outsiders. For reasons she didn’t know the village refused to accept strangers or even leave to see other places. She wished with all her heart to leave and see the world, but her father didn’t permit it. To distract her he fed her curiosity with book of magic and the world. He was one of the few mages in the village, in her eyes the most powerful, and started to train her around the time she was 7 years old. He was impressed by her quick study into his binding magic, but she wanted to learn even more magics to see their possibilities. She started training on her own the following years and turned her home basement into a study full of any magic books she could get her hands on. None of them really peaked her interest like in the beginning but she refused to give up on her ambition. She found her answer when the oldest of their village, an elderly man named Co, came to her impressed by her spirit and wanting to learn magics. He told her she had great potential and she could do so much more, and she agreed and started to complain about lack of resources. He stopped her and gave her a book that he had hidden from her father. It contained the knowledge to learn the power of God Slayer magic. The name alone got her wanting to learn it, but Co told her to do so in secret and to be cautious as this magic is a lost magic, one of immense power and equal danger. Despite his warning Nicola spent day and night studying this text. It was hard learning it and keeping it from her father at the same time but after about a year she’d successfully set up a system to get past him. She revealed her studies to her father, and the rest of the village, in a display of power that she learned from the God Slayer Magic. She was shocked that instead of pride he showed fear and anger towards her. He takes her away and followed by the other village elders told her that magic was locked away to protect it's secrets as well as hide the secret to the town's treasure. Nicola stopped him, never hearing of this "treasure" before now and demanded she tell him the complete truth, explaining she wasn't a child anymore and she deserved that much. He gave in and explained below the town is a magical artifact with great power, one of the main reasons the village was settled in the first place, and the key to it was lost magic. The mages that lived there dedicated their lives to make sure it was protected and to keep outsiders away as best they could. Nicola was in utter shock ans told him that Co gave her book to study in the first place. They went to find him but when they did it was a dark mage in disguise. He reveals his plans to activate the artifact and use Nicola and captured her. He took her down to the secret subspace below the town and revealed the artifact, a large sphere that he explained would store power and then erupt, bringing devastation where he pleased. She attacked him after finally getting loose and tried to run, but he tricked her into using a god slayer spell and activate the device. It caused a great earthquake during this and she escaped back to the surface. Above was chaos, people running scared and confused and the caverns around them coming down. The ground burst open and the sphere rose with the magical energy it was ready to unleash. She confronted Co along with her father, but her father was easily taken out. She faced off against Co but their battle was only fueling the sphere more and more. She stopped when it shook again and he sacrificed himself to power the machine enough to destroy the canyon. As it released the built up power Nicola used her most powerful God Slayer spell and poured it out onto the sphere. Before she was ready to pass out the sphere burst and crashed back into the underground cavern where it exploded, causing another earthquake and destroying itself.
After the chaos was over and Co gone Nicola decided to leave, thinking it better this way considering what she had done. Her father tried to stop her but she ignored him and used her magic to fly away, not really thinking of a specific destination. She spent her time travelling the country, seeing new things and what magic people could do. The biggest thing she found herself doing for the past 10 years was collecting magical items to keep them out of the hands of people like Co. She joined a guild, Mermaid Heel, as well, but rarely spent any time at the hall and was consumed with her treasure hunting of cursed items.
