Kani had been hard at work for the past week, so now that she had a moment to relax it was hard to figure out what she wanted to do. Her goal to travel to Oba was still a bit of a long shot, so for now she was stuck to being in the villages during her free time. Things were still a bit rowdy after the festival and all she really wanted to do was find a quiet place to relax. She thought about going and sitting by the ocean, but even thinking about it made her a bit sad. She promised herself she wouldn't go back until she met back up with Gael and no sooner. She would just have to find something else to do until then. For now she would just have to find something fun at the shops. Perhaps she could start up a new hobby. With her mind on everything else, it took her a moment to realize there was someone out of place among everything. Any other race wouldn't have surprised her too terribly much, but spotting the Alkidike was a bit different.
"Uhm, excuse me?" she cautiously approached her, hoping she wasn't one of the hostile ones. "You seem a bit out of place."

Ariya had been in Matori during the festival and while she didn't attend she knew of at least one other of her tribe that did. She sighed, feeling a bit lonely since she missed out on the festivities on the Islands. What she really wanted was to return home. That was possible now, she had her snaptrotter, but she needed to resupply before she set out. So one of the villages was where she ended up, roaming through the streets trying to find a shop that would sell food that her baby trotter could have for the journey. Before she could get too far she heard someone say she was a bit out of place. She turned and gave the woman her attention. "Ah, yeah. I'm trying to find a place to stock up on supplies." The baby trotter popped his head up and out of the chubby Alk's cleavage since that was where he stayed to keep warm.

Kani was a bit surprised at the sight of a small snap trotter popping up out of nowhere, but let it slide by rationalizing it being the odd workings of the Alki woman. She was glad to speak to her despite her nervousness to be around the woman, but any chance to distract herself from her current problems was well received. "So then, what sort of supplies are you looking for? I could help you out if you'd like, maybe point you in the right direction," Kani replied, stepping a bit closer to the woman before her.

Being offered help wasn't something she was expecting so when she heard this woman say that she might be able to point her in the right direction Ariya grinned. "That would be great." Having a local to help out would make things so much easier, as well as faster. After all, she was antsy to return home. "I need some food for my new pet." Ariya brought her hand up and scratched the little trotter on the top of his head. Since he was green, like her hand, he almost looked as though he were a part of her. One of the things that the Alk loved about him already. "Other than that I just need some food to make it to Jauhar." Her shoulders lifted slightly as she spoke.

"Jauhar? That is quite a long journey from here. Though I guess it would make sense for you to return, yes? Being an Alkidike and all," Kani smiled, making sure to keep her own pet at bay by her side. Zoryn was a curious creature though, and the struggle to keep him settled was always there. "So as for food, were you looking for something specific for your pet? Or do we need to fish for food for him? I'm sure either would work. I'm uh, really not doing much at the moment so I can help out with just about anything you can think of."

Her head gave a small nod, the rings on her antennae jingling slightly. "Yea, I'm a bit of a ways away from home." Her black eyes went to the familiar that Kani had at her side and she smiled at it. While it was a good looking beast it would never had been a choice for her. Ariya needed a strong mount. "Oh, well.. I don't want to have fish for the trip through Oba. It might not last or smell too good." So that left her with having to actually look for something that would keep for at least a week. "Do the markets here have something like that?"

"Oh yes. I'm sure we can find you some dried foods or something that is much easier to preserve. Sorry I hadn't really thought about the fact that traveling to different areas would make it hard to keep food fresh." She wasn't thinking too clearly about things if she was being honest, but she would hate for the woman to think she were an idiot or didn't know about her own home. "I'm Kani, by the way. If you wanted to know that was. if not then don't worry about it. I can just be your marketplace matori."

Dried foods would work. Ariya looked at the young trotter she had then back to the Matorian. "That should work just fine." She nodded as she spoke. When the woman gave her name she smiled in a friendly way. "Ah, I'm Ariya. Thanks for helping." It wasn't like help was just waiting at every turn so she was thankful for when it was there. Though she was a bit confused by the girl saying she was just a marketplace matorian. Was that some kind of job or something? With an odd look she pushed the thought aside. "I would also like some fruit for myself. If possible." She knew that some areas had the juicy things and some didn't.

"Ah yes we should have plenty of fruits for you as well. Now that trade with the other nations is more open our supplies are far more abundant. It's been nice all things considered," Kani explained, motioning for Ariya to follow her as she walked down the street to a circle of small shops. "So, you're heading to Jauhar, but why were you in Matori? We don't really have anything too exciting around these parts."

That was true. With borders opened up trade was good. Then the question of what she was doing so far south came up. Ariya chuckled and nodded her head. "Yea, I suppose it is a bit odd for me to be here. Honestly, I came here for this little guy." Her hand went to the trotter and since he was still a small thing she lifted him up so that Kani could see him better. "I needed a mount." Of course she couldn't ride the small thing now. It would have to wait until he grew.

Kani looked between the tiny trotter and the tall Alkidike before her. She did really hope she meant once the little guy grew. She didn't think she would get very far with his current size. Eventually though he would be a very good mount. "That takes a lot of determination to travel across Tendaji just to get yourself a little trotter. I assume it was worth it though, yes?"

She chuckled when she saw the way Kani looked at the two of them. "Don't worry, he needs training before he can be an official mount." Bringing the trotter close so that she could hug him and keep a better eye on him in a crowd. "Hm? Oh, well it wasn't too bad. I heard about the snaptrotters from a friend. From what he told me, the beast will be worth it." Ariya nodded her head. She had great plans for the little green thing.

"I've only really been out of Matori once. I'm planning on leaving again soon, but traveling always makes me very nervous. It's very impressive that you can travel so far so casually. I would never be able to," Kani explained, lifting up a couple of fruits hanging from a rope on one of the shop posts. "How is this? Look good to you?"

Oh so she was planning to leave again? "Where are you going?" Ariya figured there was nothing wrong with a bit of small talk while they were looking for the things she needed. When she stopped and showed off some fruits Ariya leaned closer to inspect them. "Oh, those look fine." A nod came from her. Of course that left her to barter with the shop seller so that she could take them home with her. Not that she minded, Ariya had made sure to bring extra coin along with her since she was in mainly earthling territories.

"Oh I plan to head out to Oba fairly soon. I'm looking for someone, you see. They wandered off on an errand and haven't come back," Kani replied, patting Zoryn's head as he whined. The zanteer knew how upset she was, but she couldn't just drop all of her worries on her new friend. "I'm not sure where to go. I just know the best place to start is Oba so that's where I'll be headed and hope for the best."
