Kaalnia grinned behind her armful of flowers, hefting the weight on her back (more flowers). Pinpin the Raoti had flowers as well, and of course, Votzhem was laden with flowers. Lots of flowers, for a special lady who deserved it. It had been a good idea… well of course it was, she had it.

“Hey, Vosh, doing all right over there?” she called teasingly to her brother, “Not losing any petals, are you?!” she checked her own part of the mega bouquet, to make sure she hadn’t lost any herself, or that Pin hadn’t eaten any. “We’re almost there! We’ve come this far! Don’t want to come up short!”

Votzhem fought back sneezes as the inevitable pollen of the plants wafted across his face with every step. This was a wild idea, and he wasn’t sure how Kaalnia had convinced him to carry an entire caravan of flowers with him. Yes, Iroia deserved every one. Yes, they signified years of love and apology and anything else that flowers would be needed for. Yes, he thought they should bring flowers for his wife. But did they really need an entire roomful?

“I didn’t lose any.” he mock-snapped at her, flicking an antennae in her direction, “What about you?” That they were close - and he could see they were, indeed, close to where they had determined that the leaf woman was staying - filled him with dual parts relief and dread. He’d been gone for so long… what would his wife have become? What had he become? If Kaalnia hadn’t pushed him into it, he might have lingered away out of fear, afraid to face the past and future.

But Kaalnia had pushed him, as she did, and he was here, bearing several armfuls and raotis-worth of flowers. And he was scared - more scared than he had ever been of the bandits. “Kaa…” he said quietly, “I don’t know if I…” he shut up and grit his teeth. He had to do this.

Iroia was inside drinking some soothing caffienated beverage, it was a lovely morning with a light, obligingly cool breeze stroking her through the open door to the house. Volka and Arron were around somewhere the rest of the family seemed to be out, she had no idea where Rue had taken himself off too. She heard faint voices and brushed them off, hoping they were not random friends of Sauron’s that she didn’t know. What a drag that would be; hello I don’t care about your problems; no Kelina and Sauron are not here...can I leave a message? She snorted. And filled her cup back up.

Things had been quiet and good. She had Rue back and her Volka, her precious, precious Volka.

Votzhem could see it coming, through the flowers. It was the house, with stairs, and in the window... was that her? His mouth dried, and his feet stopped all on their own. The noise of the jungle felt louder than ever in his ears, and he knew he - who had slain bandits and braved impossible odds to return home - could go no further. Just as he knew that Kaalnia would save him from his terror.

That was what Sisters were for, after all.

So he stood there, frozen with fear, as the rest of the vertiable cloud of flowers began to gather around him…

Kaalnia saw him stop, but she wasn't worried. She had a sense of what he was feeling, even if she didn't exactly know it herself. He wasn't that hard to read, even when he tried - they'd spent too much time together for that. "It'll be fine, Vosh." she reassured him, giving his shoulder a reassuring shove as she arranged the flowers and the pack animals around him, and stood beside him.

Finally, show ready and herself fully unloaded of flowers, she gave Votzhem a smile and approached the door. She had a plan here, and if Vosh decided to turn tail and run, she was well equipped to personally hunt him down. She gave him a final thumbs up before poking her head inside.

"Hey," she said, easily and casually, "So I hear that a certain Iroia lives here..." she entered, as if invited and held her arms out wide. "Look whos back!"

At this point, Votzhem was not visible from the window, and Kaalnia wanted to keep it that way. If he was spotted, it would ruin her plan to make this completely special. It would ruin everything...

So she chose to distract.

Iroia tilted her head up, so they were looking for her..what for.. “Kaa!” She shreiked and pounced her best friend, (a separate title from best pack mate both were on the same level of importance for different reasons), “I missed you so much, where have you been, did you get taller?!” She had wrapped her arms around the Alk’s neck and her legs around her waist and just clung there like a large barnacle. Then she buried her face in the other woman’s neck, YUP, it was Kaa, sounded like Kaa, looked like Kaa and smelled like Kaa.

“So much has happened I had hoped you were okay, everybody poofed on me it was terrible! All except for Arron of course I dragged him here to Jauhar. Gah! I’m so happy to see you.” Eventually the strung out leaf woman released the much taller alkidike and thumped to the wood floor. “Nice digs huh? It’s not mine, but I have the use of it for the duration of my stay here.”

Votzhem was going to be pissed at her for this, but Kaalnia was never going to say no to attractive women running into her arms so he could just deal with it. "Heeey!" she said, wrapping Iroia in a bear hug, "I missed ya too!" Taller? Kaalnia didn't know.

"Maybe!" she said, "I'll have to check against my Sister - brie - and see if she's still taller!" she winked, though the other couldn't see. "I'll beat her at it yet!"

She was entusiastic, but she was also assessing, much as a party planner notes every aspect of their party. Irioa would not see her surprise, but the things she had just said... Hmmm...

"Oh goddess's leaves, sorry about that!" Kaalnia said, laughing embarrassedly, as if she could have done something about the avalanche, or the bandits, or the tangled paths of Zena. She clapped her hands forcefully on Iroia's shoulders, a gesture of friendly greeting, even if she sometimes did it hard enough to leave bruises. "It was pretty terrible, wasn't it? Say, what are you drinking?" she said, "And can you show me around?"

Kaalnia knew there was a right time to introduce her gift... but this wasn't it. Not yet. Let Votzhem sweat, she had a plan, and she was sticking to it.

Soon. Soon. When Iroia had calmed down a little, gotten used to her.

This is going to be great...!

Votzhem shifted from foot to foot, discomfort overcoming paralysis as he waited. How long did Kaalnia intend to make him wait, and how long could he wait until... what? He just barged in there flowers and all? Ran away to try again another day like a coward?

He trusted Kaalnia, but he also could feel the nondwa in his stomach dancing, and the flowers were not helping. "No." he said to the Raoti, shoving it forcefully as it tried to eat a flower, "Not for you."

He glowered into the trees, where a sailscale perched, watching. "Or you, too." he said to his pet. Not that Seri would ever eat such things but...

How long was she going to make him wait?!

"Stop it!" he shoved the raoti away again. It was going to feel longer, he knew, than it actually was...

“Well, yes of course,” Iroia flowed to the back of the house, here are some of the rooms mostly for the adults, the kitchen over there, storage.” She tromped up the stairs, “Arron’s room and where the other younglings stayed before they grew it gets a little more crowded now of course, you should have heard the giggling and the fights that emanated from this area, then there are the two older children’s rooms which I’m sure will be vacated soon enough so the younger ones will get spread out a little better. My room is also downstairs, I do like it up here but well when you have six kids of varying ages its just not for moms.” She grinned and showed Kaa some of the views of the jungle from up here. “Sauron keeps his hobby in another of the downstairs storage areas and well all over the house. He’s a moss collector for medical purposes, he sells them you see.”

Iroia tromped back downstairs, “Are you hungry at all Kaa?”

Seriously? How much longer was Kaalnia going to make him wait like this? Holding all these flowers? Managing this obnoxious Raoti? "Pinpin, stop it. Now." he said, giving the creature's nose a firm shove. It was as unrelenting as it's mistress. "Seriously, Ka..." he mumbled, the thick scent of the flowers making his eyes water. His arms, already, were tired. "Please..." he watched the door, as if any moment, Iroia would come through it. He felt tired. He felt sick. He felt like he could easily find an excuse to run and hide somewhere dark and safe and depressing for a little while. He was scared, and he knew it, and the anticipation made it all worse. "Just get this over with..."

"Wow, he gets his own room, huh? When I was his age, I had to room with my sister... I mean, Brie is great and all, but yeah. So happy when we both got out and went our own way and... You know, I wonder how she's doing?" Kaalnia rambled as Iroia led her around, but she knew she had to stay on task. Sort of.
"Sounds like you've got a great place to stay here. Good friends - this is the same Sauron with the... uh... uhhhh... help me out here." Kaalnia snapped her fingers,
"Oh yeah, with all the cute little shifter kids." She gave an appreciative whistle at the views - they were nice views. Well built house too.

Good.

"Wait. Moss?" Someone collected moss? Hey, to each their own, but... moss? "Good to know, I guess..." Well, she had softened Iroia up a little, gotten her used to her presence. She couldn't keep Vosh out there too long - though she did want to make him sweat a little. Just so that he knew there was nothing to be afraid of. Because there wasn't.

"Oh yeah! I'm always hungry!" Kaalnia said, rubbing her stomach in an exaggerated way, "Whoa, but hang on. I almost forgot." She made a grand gesture, grinning wryly at her own theatrics, "I brought a present too, and I can't leave it outside all day, can I? theatrically, again, she took out a piece of cloth. "Here." she said, offering Iroia the blindfold, "Put this on!"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 05, 2016 10:35 am

“No Arron gets to share with the triplets, they almost don’t fit in there anymore.” Iroia paused. A blindfold? Green eyes eyed up Kaa suspiciously, but she did trust the taller woman. Squinting she accepted the blindfold, she hated not being able to see, but most likely the “surprise” was a pink outfit with frills, and she could just shrug it off then pounce Kaa and tickle her into submission. Of course maybe Kaa would like that a little too much, but what did Iroia have to loose, she didn’t have a chance with Ruelash for a mate, so maybe Kaa would substitute for Vosh, Iroia already loved Kaa, and there were no other that could ever perfectly replace Vosh, she wouldn’t be so alone then. Even if they just got closer as friends, that would be enough. Iroia could adopt she supposed. It would do her good to have other little ones to look after. She tied the blindfold off tight and held out her arms for Kaa to grab.

If only Kaalnia had had the foresight to think of a frillsy outfit! What a great thing to use. So versatile - it could be a present, it could be something for herself to wear to tease the ladies, or even something to make Votzhem wear on this very important event.

Alas, Kaalnia hadn't thought of it. And so it was not there. "No peeking!" she teased playfully as she guided the - much shorter - earthling to the door and down the stairs. "Just a little bit more - you're going to love this - a little more..." She arranged Iroia artfully, for the best view of her staged scene. She gave Votzhem a smirk - he hadn't been paying attention, silly guy - and then she took off the blindfold with a single fourish. "Voila!" she said, grinning widely.

Everything was going according to plan.

"What do you think?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 05, 2016 11:12 am

Votzhem had had enough of this nonsense. This was his reunion and, clearly, he had to take control here. He put down the flowers and cupped his hands around his mouth to hollar at Kaalnia exactly how he felt about being left standing out here, ruined surprise be damned.

He had just taken a breath. His vocal chords had just begun to vibrate. The shout, annoyed and gruff and overly familiar and insulting in that way that siblings can get away with, had just begun to make its way out of his mouth... when it died.

He stared, mouth open, hands falling to his sides as Kaalnia led Iroia out. Aisha's petals, he'd forgotten how much he loved her. He didn't know how he could have forgotten the depth of feeling that rolled over him, or the details that he knew so well... the curve of her shoulders, the glint of her crystals, the tight muscle beneath supple flesh, the way her clothes clung to her every graceful, deadly, feline movement... "Oh..." he whispered. He was falling in love with her all over again.

He missed his cue at Kaalnia's grin, and realized he was empty handed when the blindfold came off, waving like a flag in Kaa's hands. Quickly, he picked up the dropped bouquet and held it out to Iroia. Suddenly, being surrounded by the huge load of flowers didn't seem absurd. It was worth every trade good and moment of strain. He found he had nothing to say. Nothing could be voiced. He had only his bouquet, and his presence. It spoke for him.

All according to plan.

Initially Iroia didn’t comprehend what she was seeing. Some blue guy, in familiar tan clothes picking up a crap load of flowers. Then she blinked cause tears were filling her eyes, and she was sure they were never going to stop. It was him, he was alive the man of her dreams, returned to her. She shrieked and flung herself at him, harder then she had Kaa, cause Vosh could take all of her power. She kissed his face all over then felt terribly woosy once she could touch his skin, he was real or this was the most evil dream. She went limp in his arms as her brain tried restarting just to be sure this was in fact reality. She woke up mumbling, “Vosh?”

Large green eyes settled on black ones. Eyes that had seen into her soul. She had loved this man more than anything, and the reinstatement of that love in the wake of the banishment of years of loss made her feel like wet clay; heavy and malleable and not in control of anything. She placed a hand on either side of his face.
