It was a beautiful clear crystal day. A perfect day for everyone to gather in market. Performers sought money while travelers sought trade and entertainment…in the crowds was another type. A girl who sought stories…

The girl was bouncing with an energy. Since she had explored Oba a bit the bard was traveling alongside the border of Sauti and had settled in a bit to learn from some of the traveling bards in the area. It was so exciting to hear and see all the different types of music! Even more so were the types of stories that awaited her outside of her homeland. Already she had seen so many interesting things and met so many interesting people…she had to wonder – who would be here today?

Shadiya twisted through the markets. While she had made certain to venture further away than normal for secrecy’s sake the girl was still nervous. What if this wasn’t the best idea? She had wanted to dance and to also find more information. Could she get more intel about Oba and what was happening there? Ever since the festivals the girl was on edge. She had enjoyed watching the event in Sauti, but the memory of Oba was haunting. She had only been a little girl herself when her parents had once taken her…it had been such a grand view with all the soldiers and the nobility in their finery.

Sighing, Shadiya just shook her head before rounding the corner into a rather petite creature.

“Oh!” Flushing the dancer twisted backwards in one graceful movement, “I’m so sorry!”

She truly hadn’t been paying attention. But that was no longer the case. Now that she almost had tripped over herself due to the surprise the girl was completely captivated by the appearance of the Oban. She looked so pretty! And that movement! How had she just danced away like that? “Are you a ninja?” She teased lightly, almost on instinct since she never knew when to close her mouth.

Grinning, Nadiya shook her head. “No need to apologize! I was just lost in the crowds and not paying attention. Seems we both are a bit out of place though. So maybe the same happened to you? That is if you’re here to explore Sauti!” She flushed lightly. So much for being graceful with words. Here she was just spewing random stuff towards this rather beautiful woman…and just after almost making them both trip.

Good job, Nadiya.

“Exploring Sauti?” Shadiya blinked before nodding slowly, “I suppose you could say that.” What could the harm be? Surely an Oban noble could explore a little here and there right? Perhaps it was even best to try and act as if she belonged to a caravan or something passing through. That was less worry for her…though she doubted the small Matori before her was up to no good. The girl honestly was a bundle of radiant energy and obviously seemed very innocent.

What if it was a trap?

Shadiya shook the thought away. Enough of that! The girl obviously was flustered and it wasn’t helping that she was staring her down like some specimen. “Are you fresh out of Matori then?” Shadiya found herself asking. Perhaps the girl knew of Eura? Wouldn’t that be nice? She could get some information about her family…family. She truly did cherish those three back in Matori. Blood or not she would do anything she could for them.

“Actually yes and no?” Nadiya grinned after the awkward silence was broken. She definitely was glad that the stranger wasn’t staring at her anymore! “I left Matori a few years ago…due to some family issues. I’ve been learning music here and there in Jauhar and Oba. This is just the first time that I’ve actually ventured out here on my own. Before it was always with my brother and his trading partners.”

She twisted her foot into the ground shyly, “Not that you probably care about that. Anyways is there something about MAtori you wanted to know? You seemed rather interested at the thought.” Not that she tried to be a mind reader, but after years of telling stories and talking to others Nadiya had gotten the gist of facial expressions. This girl, definitely, was easier to read than others she had met before.

“Oh.” Shadiya had a bit of sympathy for the girl. It seemed that she was not the only one chased out of her homeland by family…what type of story did this Matori have then? Was it similar to her own? A part of her wished to ask while the more cautious part of her spirit wanted to turn and hide. Perhaps this was a way to bring out information after all. Still, the comment about music definitely gained interest. Another bard? How was it that while she tried to avoid the dance, music still found her?

Smiling Shadiya nodded, “I actually lived in Matori until just recently. I have a family of sorts there…my dance instructor. She was like an adopted mother and I just was hoping to hear news about her. Unfortunately seems that is not the case.” She shrugged, “But they say no news is good news.” She had also left them in good health so what could be the harm?

“Do you…worry about those you left behind sometimes?” It was a random question, but she couldn’t seem to help letting it go.

“Oh.” What a time to feel like a disappointment. Nadiya wished that she could bring the Oban girl some news. After all what was the point of carrying stories if she couldn’t allow someone to know if their loved one was alright? Frowning at the thought Nadiya shook her head. This was definitely not the time to mope! At least the girl seemed interesting. Who would have ever heard of an Oban claiming Matori as her family?

It definitely brought her hope for the future.

The races truly were bonding….though that did cut out some of the more epic ballads. Nadiya grinned at the thought before the next question had her stepping backwards, “I suppose….I mean…yes.” The petite Matori glanced down towards the ground in shame, “I left them for my own selfish desires so I wonder if I should even worry about them. I don’t know if I have that right anymore, but yes I do worry.”

“Still! Dancing instructor…so you’re a dancer?” Nadiya almost beamed with happiness, “How much do you dance? Are you an expert now or still learning? Do you dance often? I mean…I love watching dancers especially when I can play music with them!” She flushed lightly. Perhaps she was a bit too excited or more than likely trying to shake off the family question.

PostPosted: Wed Jul 27, 2016 6:38 am

Selfish desires? Perhaps that was different, “I see.” Her gaze shifted as she thought about it. If her life had been different…would she have chosen dancing over her family? But dancing was her voice, her freedom from the chains that had bound her for so long. If it hadn’t been for the darkness in her past perhaps that hobby would have just stayed a hobby? It truly was a puzzling question. And one that she didn’t know really how to answer.

The sudden excitement threw Shadiya off, “Yes…and no? Maybe?” She smiled lightly and shook her head, “I mean I can perform and I have before, but I’m still learning. My goal is to learn all the dances in the world one day and then finish my own. I want it to be a blend of everything in this world so that it can shine even brighter.”

She paused and looked away sheepishly, “Sounds a bit silly, right? Most would just be happy to dance and get a good audience for their talent. I’m greedy though and want so much more.” She would never be satisfied until she finally made it to that destination…to that goal of having her own unique dance.

“That sounds wonderful.” Nadiya’s gaze was gleaming as she listened to the dancer,” And no it’s not silly at all! I’m traveling as well for the same reason! Not dancing of course, but for music. I wanted to learn all the music I could and see what I could find. One day I hope to find my very own melody as well.”

Flushing lightly the girl twisted her hands before her, “I actually collect stories as well. Seems like you probably have a really interesting one. Not that I’m asking for it!” She quickly added before glancing up towards the Oban, “You just seem so intriguing is all.”

“Then I’m glad to not be the only one with such goals.” Shadiya smiled though something seemed rather wistful in her expression. Here not only did she know Faamy, but another girl who wanted to learn music -as she did dance- was before her. Was this some sort of cruel fate? A reminder of what she was preparing to give up for the time being? Once she would have leapt at the chance to have some fellow rogues travel with her – after all what dancer could deny the appeal of music?

The question of a story made her pause. A story teller as well? “I suppose that is a habit of bards. Else how would you write songs?” Shadiya teased lightly, “But my story is a bit endangering for my own safety currently. I don’t know if I should risk it.”

How was it that a beautiful smile could seem so sad? Frowning Nadiya only shook her head despite the teasing, “Sounds like a pretty heavy burden. You know they say if you talk a bit it can really make a spirit lighter.” The rogue smiled, “I’m not one to twist arms, but if you wanted I can at least get a drink for us somewhere. To make up for our near collision.”

Pausing she reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind a webbed ear, “My name is Nadiya by the way and no worries – I’m as harmful as a baby perzi. So you can trust me though honestly I suppose anyone would say that, right?”
PostPosted: Wed Jul 27, 2016 7:32 am

“You definitely have some charisma.” Replied Shadiya with a quiet laugh, “But I suppose a drink wouldn’t be such a bad thing.” A tavern was crowded and easy to escape through should something happen, “Actually I saw a place just around the corner where we can go.” That way if the girl had been trying to lead her into a trap then at least Shadiya picked the place rather than following blindly into some abandoned area. Never would she let anyone just show her to a “place” as that was the last thing she needed.

“Nadiya…” It was actually amusing to heard the name, “Shadiya, that’s my name.” She replied on instinct before flushing lightly. The two names just seemed so similar! “I prefer Shade, however, considering my circumstances.” She turned on her heel with that and motioned for the bard to follow, “Follow me baby perzi and we can get that drink you’re wanting.”

Yes! Trying to keep her bubbling excitement held down Nadiya could only laugh at the similarities of their names, “I suppose our mothers must have really enjoyed some similar things.” Unlike Shadiya she didn’t even bother worrying about a potential trap. Who would want to do anything with a pipsqueak like her? While she had been avoiding her family, Nadiya had no true reason to be on the run. Perhaps if she had Shadiya’s story then things would be different…but for now she followed along eagerly.

Though she did have to giggle at the comment of baby perzi. Nadiya had the feeling that “Shade” wasn’t going to let her easily live such a comment down. She had to wonder though…did all dancers have such a natural grace? Flushing lightly, Nadiya was rather glad that Shadiya was leading so that she couldn’t catch her staring. What was she some dumbstruck fool? Not that she swung that way! Well maybe, who knew? But either way she was just interested in how someone could look so pretty. Definitely like she was out of some story~ She definitely was eager to get a ballad out of this tale with such a lovely main character.

“I suppose so.” Almost as if it were a death sentence just the word mother seemed to put a chill in the air. Out of all things…Shadiya had left to go stretch her legs, but this little Matori seemed intent on forcing her to focus on the situation at hand. As they entered the tavern the girl waved for a server and was thankful to find a rather isolated corner for the two of them to sit at.

“Red wine please.” She glanced towards Nadiya, “What do you prefer to drink? Juice or water?” Honestly it was so funny how the petite Matori either looked like a young boy or a child. Together the two of them definitely were a sight – one pretty in her boyish charm and the other a well-defined woman of beauty. How did I even end up in this situation? Perhaps it was the similar names or even that obvious innocence that sparkled in the girl’s eyes. Still, it was enough to get Shadiya to agree to sit and spend time with this rather energetic stranger.

“Ale for me.” Nadiya pouted towards the dancer playfully, “Even if I don’t look like it I am mature enough for some good drinks and food…actually can we have a plate or two as well? Some sweet bread…fruits…maybe some fish if you have any?” If there was one surprising thing about the petite Matori it was her huge appetite not only for life, but for food as well. Where it all went on the slender body, no one really knew.

“Sooo…” Placing her elbows on the table, Nadiya leaned forward. “Taking me here…does that mean you’re willing to talk about something? Or do you just want to enjoy a meal together? I mean that’s fine as well, but I didn’t know you were interested like that.” She couldn’t help teasing with a grin.
