Mathilda gently stirred the batter in her glass bowl. So far, all the Ares she had met had been male. All of them. Besides the Artemis chosen, it seemed all of the other chosen groups were a mix. Not that she was complaining, she had always gotten along better with guys, but sometimes a girl just needed to talk to another girl. Egos were sometimes too much for her.

Noticing the batter was done, she began to scoop out drops for cookies.

"Nothing is more calming than baking." She said out loud.

'Well, baking, and a knife through a man's heart,' she thought to herself.

Honestly, the last place Mercy wanted to end up was the kitchen. Not because of some stupid stereotype but because she wasn't the best cook and the Hearth did provide them with the best food she's ever had aside from her father's cooking. Since she was exploring the campus, Mercy wanted to get the kitchens out of the way because they held no real interest for her.

"This place needs a shooting range..."

She kept walking around aimlessly, not really paying attention to her surroundings when she bumped into someone. "Oh! Sorry~" Apparently, her mystery person was female from what she could tell when she backed up. Hopefully, she wasn't a b***h otherwise, she would have to get mean...

She was having a nice day too...

Mathilda jerked up when a body bumped onto hers. She had heard a feminine voice echo in the kitchen, but hadn't looked up from her batter. but when a body collided into hers, she turned.

"A shooting range would be nice, but not my thing though. And it's not a problem. It's a big kitchen. You can get easily distracted."

Laughing, the blonde opened the oven and put her trays in. Setting the timer, she looked up at the newcomer.

"Mathilda Callahan. Baker, if you hadn't noticed the cookies. Stick around, I'll give you some."

"I live at the shooting range as much as I live in my room. There's just something so powerful about shooting a gun that makes me tingle with excitement. But its not for everyone, I agree. Name's Mercedes Adams. I'm....A contract worker for the Government." The thought of cookies sounded like a delicious treat right about now. "You bake so is your god Hera?" The question was followed by a head tilt of curiosity. She's mostly met Ares recruits so far wich was all fine and dandy, but it seemed like she was the only female on Ares. Sad really, but maybe there will be more in the future?

"Oh? A contract killer? Perhaps I should reintroduce myself." Cocking her hip and resting her hand on it, she smirked.

"Mathilda Callahan, Ares. Assassin, free-lance. Baking is my current job and my goto happy place."

A female contract killer. Now that is interesting.

"So am I correct in assuming Ares then? How long have you been in the business?"

Mercy tilted her head to the side, raising an eyebrow. How did she know if she didn't really come out and say it? She shrugged, opting to think about it later. She wasn't exactly comfortable with telling anyone her profession just yet since its supposed to be under wraps. "Well, a contract worker could be anything really but yes, I am a contract killer for the government~" A free-lance Assasin that bakes? That was a weird yet beneficial combo. Kill some one, bake a cake and celebrate a job well done!

"Yep! Ares all the way. I've been in the business for about...three years now? I'm still considering myself a rookie since I've only had a handful of contracts, though." Mercy smiled brightly and cocked her hip as well. "You're an Ares too?! I thought I would be the only female! You have no idea how messed up that would've been." Now she could discuss girly things AND complain about various Ares things with another person! Cool beans!

Mathilda threw her head back and laughed.

"It's good to not be alone! Was beginning to think Ares was playing a joke of some sort. And three years, you are young!"

Mathilda hummed and smirked.

"Darling, the only use the government has for a contract worker is killing. It's kinda in the slang." She winked.

A female Ares was bond to be fun. At least she wouldn't be suffering under testosterone all day.

Oh she could tell she was going to get along with this one just fine! Mercy snorted but nodded her head in agreeance. "I did have my first major contract before I came here actually. Ares decided it was funny to speak to me through my target...Super hard to keep my cool and NOT run out of my spot screaming." and she would've too, screamed right into the crazy house. It felt nice to discuss her actual job with someone instead of coming up with a small white lie. Needless to say, she wasn't supposed to talk about her job at all which is why she tries to avoid it whenever she can.

"Well, I suppose that would be one way to find out about my job. I hate lying so I was trying to be vague about it. Don't think people would feel comfortable being around a killer, even if I'm super friendly." Well, friendly till you piss her off but so far, there hasn't been an incident where that has happened. Mercy beamed at Mathilda before wondering what kind of weapon she used for her contracts and such. "What's your go-to weapon? I'm pretty lethal with a sniper rifle, but I do have a hand gun I'm rather fond of back at the apartment."

From the apron around her waist, she quickly produced a knife.

"A little like this. I'm skilled in small blades. Knives, daggers. If it's small and has an edge, I can use it."

Swirling the knife in her hand once, she tapped the tip on her chin.

"Oh that's priceless. I can only imagine! And trust me, my family's the opposite. Every holiday is a giant show of who killed who. It's sad really."

Mathilda liked the Ares. They were most certainly different, but also the same.

"What weapon will you be choosing here? Since, ya know, no guns?"

"Knives huh? I kinda want a combat knife just for protection. Maybe one with a pink and purple handle. It would be the girliest knife on the planet, complete with hearts and fluffy a** unicorns." Man, that would be the best combat knife ever. Mery's eyes widened slightly and she managed to laugh right after. "Man I WISH I could do that with my family. My mom would flip a b***h if she found out what I actually do for a living." She shook her head and shrugged, "Sometimes I wonder if I got the cold-blooded killer trait from her. She's nutty as ********." not to mention the worst mother of the year considering how hands off she was with Mercy after she gave birth to now.

Those were the times her father spent many nights trying to console a newborn that needed her mother more than anything. But since Katrina was too busy trying to restart her modeling career, she had no time for the "thing that ruined her career". Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Mercy continued, "My father wouldn't panic so much as he would be worried for my safety, my step mom would probably just try to get in on it and become the first pregnant hitwoman." the thought made her cackle even more. "I think I will stick to the war hammer. I like to swing big heavy objects around, plus it just seems fitting for an Ares to have a huge a** weapon. What about you?"

Mathilda laughed at the knife description.

"That would be quite funny. Imagine having a knife to match every outfit."

She also nodded in response to Mercy's comments about her family.

"It's interesting. Lots of egos in one room. We have leave all the windows open."

She honestly hated her mother and by extension her mothers' family, but over the years she learned to make it seem like one big joke, if only for every sanity. Shaking her head, she smiled.

"Oh my, a pregnant hitwoman. I would pay money to watch that. And a war hammer. Now that, my dear, sounds like fun."

Imagining the woman in front of her ceiling a hammer made her laugh. Oh she was looking forward to viewing that.

A knife to match every outfit!? Bad a**! Mercy laughed once more with Mathilda, shaking her head. "I know right?! My little brother would have a hitman for a mom. I'm sure that wouldn't fly too well with dad, though." Her father was already overprotective of his wife and child, so he didn't need any more reason to have a heart attack from worry. "Either way, your family seems more like my mom's side of the family. All egos and craziness." It's a miracle she didn't get any of that.Well..She kind of did with her temper, but since that's rarely seen nowadays it doesn't count.

"Where are you from? "

"That they are. My father's side just likes to make sure everyone gets fed. The language barrier is a bit tough to handle, with my father being German and my mother French, but somehow family gatherings aren't a lot of hand waving. Vater tends to be the family translator, but he gets out of it by baking in the kitchen throughout the whole event. Makes me do it instead. 'You should know your family 'Tilda. Bring out this plate of donuts 'Tilda' Then he locks me out of the kitchen and won't let me in!"

She laughed heartily, smiling at the memory.

"From? Oh, I small village in the south of Germany. Not to big, not to small. I lived near San Francisco before coming here though. You?"

"I'm from Washington. The state, not the city. I was born and raised in Seattle for the most part. What was it like? Living in San Francisco?" She was always curious about California and its inhabitants, seemed like they have more fun down there than they did up here apparently. Their amusement parks were better too. Why couldn't Washington have a proper Six Flags? Or even a Universal Studios? There were times where Mercy was very lazy, traveling across the United States for a damned amusement park seemed like a waste of money [even if she wasn't exactly on the poor side]

"Washington can be SO boring at times! Its a good thing my "job" keeps me busy enough so that I don't die from boredom.~"

"Sounds peaceful. I did my studies inland bay area, and moved into SF after I finished them. It's nice. Kind of grimy and scary in some areas, but its generally a nice place. I spent most of my time near Union and Ghirardelli square, but tended to explore."

She loved the quaintness of San Francisco's Japantown, but if she had to choose between the bay area and home, she would choose home. She had originally come to the area for schooling, but had decided to stay after she had found a niche to settle into.

"I know that feeling." She laughed. "Both of my jobs keep me from extreme boredom sometimes. But there had to be something fun. It couldn't have been entirely brain numbing."
