After a most enlightening workout with Marisol and Cas, the songstress had lightly suggested they change into something more comfortable and clean up - as she, for one, would not want Marisol to have to get back into her dirty clothes after the dip in the lake. Was she thoughtful? Perhaps. Perhaps she was just languishing in the bonds being created and seeing if the time spent away from the adrenaline of battle changed anything.

To her greatest pleasure and surprise, she still felt buoyant with the possibilities the rest of the day could hold in store for them. Rose put her hair in a loose braid, choosing a cream dress that was longer in the back, not enough to drag but to frame her long legs. It wasn't until she was deciding on jewelry that she realized she was treating the whole thing like some sort of date. The idea was almost startling, gazing at herself in the mirror, a pearl drop earring dangling from her fingers. How...interesting.

Settling on her earrings and a simple, thin gold chain necklace, she gathered a sheer shawl (just in case she actually did miss a note and had to strip - wearing one piece made that less of a game!) and a large, fluffy towel, folding them both over her forearm and making her way to the lake. It was a beautiful warm day, and though she didn't expect to get wet herself, she was looking out for Marisol. Just in case.

For exactly the same reason that Rose had had chosen to bring a shawl, Cas had decided to show up to the lake in a onesie.

It was, in his opinion, quite a fantastic onesie, at the same time ridiculously patriotic and patriotically ridiculous. It was a rare piece of clothing that had followed him since college, when his rowing team at Washington had bought him and his best friend matching onesies after discovering that both of them were planning to enlist.

The day was warm, so he'd come prepared with board shorts slung across one shoulder, in case they all decided to take a dip. And, in part, so he wouldn't land himself in trouble by stripping to his boxers on a dining table in his first week at the Prytaneum.

"So I will still serenade you in the Hearth if you so desire," he said when he'd found Rose and Marisol. "But maybe for the sake of everyone involved, if it's strip karaoke, maybe we should do the stripping part out here. I can get animated when I sing. I would hate to accidentally flash an entire hall of people."

For those who were holding their breath waiting for Cas to finally grow up... they were probably in for a long wait.

There were beads of sweat pooling and trailing down her body when she got back to her room. Despite the heat and thinness of breath--she may have began to jog away, excitement thrumming with each beat of her heart--there was no fear or second thoughts on what she would be doing. If anything, it amused her, and she laugh softly to herself before checking that the bathroom was free.

It was a short shower seeing as she would be wet again, sooner rather than later. She considered her wardrobe for perhaps longer than was sensible. There was really no need to care that much when it'd be discarded. And yet, she lingered. Fingers caressing over the clothes that she'd brought with her.

What felt like hours but was really only a couple of minutes as she slid into a bikini--hey, if she was taking it off, she might as well add to the show--and pulled a nice pair of white bootcut jeans up to settle on her hips. A bright red flowy tank top with faux buttons was pulled over her head before she pulled her hair up into a bun. She wouldn't want to be accused of hiding the view, after all.

She arrived on the beach shortly after Rose but before Cas and slipped her sandals off on the towel she'd brought with her. A niggling thought had blossomed as she'd made her way to the lake and she'd wanted to ask the other woman a question but before she could open her mouth, Cas had shown up. Green eyes lit up in amusement and she laughed, softly at his attire.

"Actually," she began, "I think that'd be best. I wouldn't want to put anyone in a public situation they're not comfortable with."

She heard the soft crunch of sand against bare feet, turning to face Marisol, a smile blossoming at the sight of the other. Rose had only seen the woman at dinner and working out, and now - so casual, she felt like she was learning her different facets, one meeting at a time. Before she could even part her lips, Cas came into view.

The songstress gasped softly in disbelief before covering her mouth with one hand, though her eyes spoke loudly of mirth she wasn't allowing herself to release. "Cas," she said in a breathless manner, only the faintest edge of a laughter chasing the name. Looking between them, she shook her head and lowered her hand to clasp it with the other, smiling with amusement. "I suddenly feel rather over-dressed," her gaze was appraising on Marisol and biting back laughter when on Cas, "but if we're following the gentleman's lead, I would certainly prefer a more...private venue. I have a feeling I'm going to lose a lot of notes just looking at Cas, here." Her hands unclasped and, as Marisol had noted her tactile nature before, her fingers moved to gently pick at the patriotic onesie. Unable to resist, she laughed softly under her breath, marveling at the man's confidence in himself and the situation the three of them were in.

"But if you'd both like to go for a swim, by all means. Don't let me stop you." She tilted her head as her eyes turned to Marisol, gentle but with good humor.

"There are few things easier to remove than a onesie," he said with his own wide grin. "And since I can't claim to be the most talented singer, I figured this was fitting."

He let the board shorts slide from his shoulder and let them drop to the grass. "And this way you both look much better than me." Not that they would have had trouble with that either way. His gaze ticked from Rose to Marisol, quick, subtle, but appreciative nonetheless. They were both so effortless in the way they dressed to impress, even for an occasion like this.

"I would love to swim," he added. He loved the water, felt immensely comfortable in an element that could be calm and gentle one moment and vicious the next. It was part of the charm. "And if Marisol has a specific serenade in mind... Well, depending on what it is, I might appreciate a moment or two to learn it."

He wasn't that well-versed in most genres of music.

Pulling an iPod Touch out of her hip pocket, Marisol turned it on and pulled up the song she'd selected--okay, she may have been stymied and let the device cue up a random song from her entire library--before handing it to the duo who needed to learn it. Just waiting to be played was Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles". As amusing as something like "I'm Too Sexy" would have been, she was glad a more low-key song was chosen.

"You two can listen to it a few times," she began, "since the winner needs to take her victory lap." That said and with no further warning, her fingers fell to the button on her jeans. She shimmied out of her pants, folding them lightly before dropping them next to her sandals. She didn't bother being so careful with her top, gripping the hem and sweeping it up until she was left in her bikini. And that took even less work to remove. Opening her arms and doing a slow turn, unabashed in her nudity, she let them take a long look at her.

With an impish grin, she turned and headed out into the water. It wasn't quite jumping but she ran into the rolling waves. Once it hit her knees, she turned around offering a wave and threw herself back into the lake. It would have to do, she thought, as she sunk into the cool water and began to swim. Might as well enjoy it while Rose and Cas learned the song.

"I admit, I wouldn't know," Rose arched her brows, appraising the onesie. No, she couldn't say she'd taken anyone out of one of those, but she supposed there could be a first time for everything. Her blue eyes returned to Marisol as she moved, curious to the song picked -- and you could almost see the tension ease from her shoulders. "I was having flashbacks to singing 'My Humps' and that 'Sexy And I Know It' bit from my younger days of learning - I count that as a bullet dodged."

Leaving it up to Cas if he'd know the song or not, she carefully lifted a foot and balanced on the other, unstrapping her shoes that were out of place given their locale but comfortable enough she didn't care, switching legs to do it with the other. By the time she held them by their straps, Marisol had begun her show and Rose allowed herself to be enraptured by the performance. She was wholly unsurprised by the woman's beauty, her gaze admiring and warm, a smile forming by the time Marisol surrendered to the water.

Folding the towel and shawl, she put them carefully on the sand, her shoes near by, sweeping an arm back to gather the folds of her dress. When Marisol surfaced, she picked her steps towards the edge of the lake, submerging only to her ankles. "You must be a dancer." Her blue eyes were bright and curious upon the woman. "Or you're a weight lifter, but I've seen you move and I think the former is a safer bet. I've only seen legs like those on professional dancers."

Rose's smile reached her eyes, feeling only the faintest threads of regret that she hadn't packed for swimming.

He vaguely knew the song - he'd seen White Chicks in college with his crew. But that had been a long time ago and many a year since they'd driven to practice at 5 am blasting it from the radio with the windows down.

Cas reached for one of the earphones, and was about to refresh his memory when his attention was stolen from him by Marisol's carefully crafted display. If he stared, which he most certainly did, he didn't apologize.

"She's so little," he said, half in awe. "You could just pick her up and-"

Nevermind.

He refrained from finishing the sentence, but the way he watched her run toward the water said plenty about whether or not his mind was finishing the thought.

"How limber are you, really?" he asked as he hit play on the iPod and the song started in his ear, the real version that was quite unlike the ungraceful karaoke one he was used to hearing from a car full of sleepy rowers.

Standing up in the water, she approached Rose, "Observant." It was a clear compliment as she smiled wide. "I'm a professional ballerina, a principal at a company." Which was the height, really, of what most all of them aspired to become; there were a few of course who wanted more, but fame would interfere with her other talents.

Cas's question wasn't unheard of and she locked eyes with Rose, winking, before turning her attention to him.

"That's a mystery for another day, dear Cas," she laughed. After all they had to have something to bet on for future matches. A few secrets to uncover. She wouldn't want to seem dull.

"Might a lovely lady escort a wayward mermaid to the shore?" she offered her forearm to Rose. Shyness was certainly not an issue when it came to her body and yet she would hate to bewitched the entire campus should they come out to swim. Unless it was Rasmus; she wouldn't mind him joining the fray. Til then, a bikini would probably be more appropriate.

"Ah!" she exclaimed, pleasantly surprised. "That explains much." Her eyes locked with Marisol's after Cas' words and she could only smile, almost apologetic - boys will be boys, and even though Rose was also admiring, she was a bit more genteel about it. Not that Cas' methods were unwelcome - but she could think of a few ways to better admire the view.

"It would be an honor," she replied with her smile warming her eyes, gingerly taking the offered arm and resting the hand holding her own dress over Marisol's, carefully leading her to the edge of the lake. Once there, she murmured a soft, 'one moment, darling,' before letting her go and flitting across the sand. She picked up the towel she'd brought, shaking it out, the shawl falling to the wayside as she returned to Marisol, holding out the sun-warmed fluffy fabric. Instead of having the ballerina take it, however, Rose delicately wrapped it around the woman's shoulders, tucking it together by her collar bone. "I still say Cas and I won that round," she smiled just shy of a grin, picking up the folds of her dress again to re-dip her feet in the water, almost dainty in how she let the sand and water fall.

"If you're going to swim, Cas, you should probably go sooner than later. Marisol and I might get started on that serenade without you."

"We certainly didn't lose," he agreed, already unzipping the glorious onesie to change into the board shorts. The both of them were, by his own admission, infinitely more graceful than he was but Cas wasn't going to let that stop him from getting into the water. While Rose busied herself wrapping the towel around Marisol's shoulders, he let the oneside drop to the ground, pulled his boxers off - nobody liked to walk around in wet boxers - and shimmied into the board shorts.

"I'll just be a second," he said, making his way toward the water's edge, a little bit of sweat clinging to him from wearing the onesie. "I wouldn't want to miss out on the serenade."

The water was pleasantly warm, with just enough of a chill to remind him that he was in one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. He submerged himself without a second's hesitation, letting the familiar cold seep through him. And then it was gone. Cas reemerged and wiped the water out of his eyes, grinning.

"But doesn't that feel good," he said, sinking back into the water up to his neck. "I feel much more prepared now to channel my inner Vanessa Carlton."

Marisol hadn't quite realized how the subtle chill of the fresh water was until she was standing up, goosepimples erupting in a trail along her skin. The warmth of the towel was as welcome as the company. And there was moment, standing there with Rose that she almost--

She chuckled at Cas's statement. While the tall blond bombshell might be a siren, as Rasmus had put it, she had a feeling Cas would take the serenade in another direction entirely. This would be a treat, she thought, sending a quick look at Rose in sympathy before she headed to the shed swimsuit she'd discarded earlier.

Dressed once more, at least in the bikini, she headed back to the shore and sunk down to the sand. She kept the towel she had been wrapped in draped over her shoulders. And looked expectantly at the duo.

"Now that I've shown, it's time for you to sing," she grinned.

While Marisol went to get dressed, Rose had the very strange moment of seeing the nude woman slip into a bathing suit and watching an extremely handsome man trot to the lake in swim trunks while she stood in her nice dress. She felt like she was a step out of time, and while that wasn't unusual, it was, perhaps, the first time she felt a spot of disappointment for it.

"Take your time," she called back to Cas. "I'm enjoying the view." Blue eyes flit between the two in her company, grateful - to who? Apollo? Their Gods? She subtly shook the thought away, picking her way back to the shawl and shoes, retrieving the former to fold it over the latter. It was still so...new. Fresh. It was a change she hadn't anticipated and while she'd initially been resisting...maybe there was merit in accepting what had come her way.

Draping the folds of her dress over her forearm, Rose returned to the lakeside and smiled at Marisol, amusement lifting her brows. "Here? Well. It's as private of a public space as one could hope for, I suppose." The song at least had enough breaks in it that Rose felt she'd be able to compose herself if needed - and with Cas in the water and Marisol sitting, she had less to concern herself with them being distractions of a different type.

Lifting her chin, her demeanor shifted, just slightly - from the Rose they knew, to Rose, Chosen of Apollo, the performer and muse. It was little more than a lid of her eyes and the way she poised herself for something between theatrics and come-hither, but it was there all the same. Especially for a song that was as silly and non-serious as the one chosen by the ballerina. Drawing in a breath of warm earth and cool water, she sang, using the velvet in her voice that she was used to, slowing the song down a few beats to draw it out. "Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass - and I'm homebound," she purred the last word, taking slow, swaying steps along the water line.

Cas was not a performer. He was just a guy with little in the way of artistic skill, which meant he knew of no way to do karaoke but to wring as much fun out of it as he could.

"Start without me, why don't you!" he joked, hastily hurrying out of the water, shaking his head and flinging water everywhere as he went to join Rose in her serenade, still dripping from his dip. But he made it in time to hope in on the next verse, so he did, complete with perfectly timed gestures.

"Staring blankly ahead, just making my- s**t." He'd started with his eyes wide as saucers, then was forced to squeeze them shut with a laugh-induced grimace as he stumbled over the lyrics. "Making a way, through the crow-ow-owd," he amended, dramatically brushing back an invisible crowd.

He almost felt bad for ruining Rose's performance, many times more sultry than his own, with his half of the rendition.

Rose lifted her brows in an indication she had completely anticipated him to sing from the water. His loss of the words made her laugh, abrupt, briefly covering her mouth and giving him a mock-rueful look. Extending a hand, she cupped his wet jaw, her composure returning rather fast.

"And I need you," she sung to Cas, looking at him through her lashes, "and I miss you," her gaze turned, seeking, to Marisol, "and now I wonder..."
