Back home Ed probably would have either ignored the hail or simply not noticed it. The parks were usually fairly busy most of the day, and you never really knew what you were getting into when you stopped to chat with random folks flagging you down. Ed had made the mistake a few time, and he'd walked away with an ear full of a pyramid scheme the first time, and a miniature bible and a the beginning of a religious pitch. After that he'd just stopped stopping.
Here, though, that seemed like a bad idea. Or at least rude, and the former bouncer really didn't know anyone well enough to be rude to them.
So, when Jan(that was his name, wasn't it?) lifted a hand in greeting, Ed slowed to a stop in front of the other man, and hoped the smile he offered in return looked less strained than it felt.
Maybe he'd attribute it to the running. "Hey," he tried for casual and friendly, and mostly succeeded. "Yeah it's pretty nice. A little more breeze would be amazing, but," he shrugged.
"Interrupting?"
Yes. "Ah, naw, not really. I was nearly done anyways." He slipped his hand into the offered one, hardly noticing the watch, though his brows twitched at the bangles. "I'm Edward."
