The Mortemer Family is an old pureblood family originated from Normandy, who still hold their French traditions even if they've been staying in England for three generations (From Agate, to his four children, and then his grandchildren). They weren't concerned about their children getting in different houses, but they were much concerned about their blood status being as pure as possible. They've been suffering a bad stigma ever since the Second Wizarding War ended due to some dark activities some old members were involved about, resulting their descendants from struggling in getting a job especially in the Ministry, same goes to whoever married them apparently.
But fortunately, the most recent generation in the family were being tolerable (and saner) nowadays- most notably the current heir, Topaz Mortemer. Additionally his mother, Ester Mortemer, decided to put her concerns more on the well-being of the family rather than the blood status, as the latter caused more harm than good.
▶ DECISIVE — When Topaz decides on something, it's final after moments of analyzing. He's a calculating person himself and usually doesn't dive in situations headfirst. He's confident on what he's anchoring with and holds into his beliefs even if it contrasts compared to what he used to hear from his ancestors. He could be really stubborn, though, and really hard to convince if he barely knows the person. It would also take time for someone to change his decisions, good luck with that. However, if his decisions turns out to go the wrong ones, he ends up being self-critical, thinking that he should've done better.
▶ WISE — His travels has done enough to give him enough experience and new knowledge to know what was going on. He isn't naive and he is pretty much streetsmart; Topaz' head and feet are planted right on the ground and he prefers to stay that way. Given his analytical thinking, he tends to think realistic about the things around him and believes that everything has to have a reason. Though in his personal opinion, he didn't think the background does not excuse a person from doing anything reckless.
▶ UPSTANDING — Topaz is wise enough to know that his family history is a mess to begin with, something he used to escape from. He doesn't discriminate anyone and doesn't care about whatever the person has as long as they have enough morals to know that he could socialize with comfortably. He does his best to be as understanding as possible when he lends an ear to anyone, and will help anyone that is within his reach.
▶ SOCIABLE — Perhaps he eventually learned not to lean of whatever people think of him as a Mortemer, and he would still try to talk to people nevertheless. Topaz isn't afraid to show that he is a really warm and personable person, since after all he is already convinced that alone would show that he is a good man. That trait pretty much surprised a few people who knew about his family, while some just were tempted to raise an eyebrow about his friendliness. However, he didn't think he needed to prove to them, since after all he thinks that almost everything he does pissed his father, hence thinking that it was nothing bad.
▶ PROPER — Despite his different ideals compared to his family's, he still didn't forget the ways of proper manners. He knows his manners and doesn't mind doing so as he sees fit. In fact, he didn't really see the point of abandoning your politeness to people when it is a great advantage and a great way to get along with people, really.

➥ Background History
▶ CHILDHOOD — Topaz is the first-born son to Agate and Ester Mortemer, one was a Cursebreaker while the other was an Herbologist. Topaz's parents met when Agate was traveling around Norway hence meeting a beautiful and headstrong woman named Ester. Of course, it took a really long while before he could finally win her and her family's approval, as the Eide women tend to be hard to impress. So yes, they did got married and so they moved back to England and they started a family. While they were happy of having Topaz as a firstborn son, they think one child won't be enough. So that was when Jasper came in as a second, then eventually they had twins named Lazuli and Beryl. Topaz was raised well and proper, same goes to reading one book after the other at home as his adventure. Of course, he enjoys spending time outside the manor and there he reads the books under a nice tree.
However, when he tried to approach some of his wizarding neighbors, some of them were hesitant of approaching him, confusing the young boy. Disheartened, Topaz decided to continue in reading stuff in solitude aside from his siblings, though there were good times that he sneaked to make friends and socialize with muggle neighbors giving him an open mind. The four siblings were raised well, all of them showing magic at such an early age. Though, their father apparently paid much attention to Topaz and Jasper with strict teachings as proper wizards, whereas Ester paid attention to Lazuli and Beryl (Since Lazuli was, for Agate, "too meek" to get on his older brothers' level). Him and Jasper's relationship were pretty much complicated, as the younger brother always wanted to impress their strict father Agate and getting all the attention, whereas Topaz just do what he was told and didn't go any further to do more. The thing was both Topaz and Jasper were a pair of naturals, and Jasper was so determined to rival against his brother, though Topaz seemed to just be annoyed about it and brushed it off as some typical younger brother phase. As he received his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, there was only one thing Topaz had in mind: New things to learn. Not to mention that going to Hogwarts meant exploring things outside his sheltered home, so he was very excited to go to school in his first year.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — It took a long minute until the Hat called Ravenclaw, as the hat once mentioned that he could have done good both in Gryffindor and in Ravenclaw. Nevertheless, Topaz took that as a compliment and was very satisfied in his sorting so he decided to join the Quidditch Team in his third year as a Seeker. The problem he had to face was that some students decided to avoid him, which left him heartbroken for his first year in Hogwarts. Eventually, he found out that his parents didn't tell him that they had a really bad reputation sticking onto them since the late 1990s, after the Second Wizarding War because apparently some of the old member in the family joined Voldemort's side and got convicted. Convinced that he was nothing like any of them, he decided to get up and prove that he's very unlike them, openly talking to anyone. The improvements were slow, of course, since some only gave him raised eyebrows. Fortunately, he made a few friends who did not mind him at all, and he turned out to be one reliable friend you count on. Because Topaz's friends mostly consist of what his family would consider "blood traitors", so he became more open and more subtly against some of his family's pureblood ethics.
In his third year, his brother Jasper arrived and much to Topaz's surprise, he got sorted to Gryffindor since he always thought that he would go to Slytherin. But Topaz supposed it made alot of sense, though; considering how determined and how assertive Jasper tended to be. He was relieved, though, because it meant that he didn't have to handle his brother that much. And he was wrong, because still there were times they argued with each other. It turned out that Jasper was bitter and jealous over how he always perceived that Topaz was the heir and the favorite, even if the Ravenclaw didn't even have the intention to compete. Other than that, Topaz excelled in most subjects, nailing one test after the other. His hard work in Quidditch earned his first string position as a Seeker and lead a few cool wins for the house and so he graduated with great bliss.
▶ POST-GRADUATION — Right after he graduated, he was informed by his father Agate that he should get a proper pureblood wife as possible, which irked Topaz. The problem was that he didn't find any of his pureblood female schoolmates fancy, nor did he knew how to court anyone at all. He was very convinced that he didn't want a love life regardless of gender that to spite his father, he became a Cursebreaker and went to different places like a busy man just to give him an excuse not to stay at home for a long time. This travel was something he never regretted, not even once. As he traveled from one place to another, he learned a lot of things-- especially culinary arts. He decided to try studying it and found his passion for cooking. Other than that, he visited the manor sometimes, especially when his father called him. His father was rather disappointed in him because even with all the traveling he did, Topaz "wasted it on cooking and not on finding a proper pureblood", which pretty much offended him. Also, when he found out that his brother Jasper had a son who looked a lot like his father, which Topaz paid less attention to since he didn't initially care about Jasper's doings. Thus, he didn't know the treatment Agate did to Garnet for the fact that he was a late-bloomer.
A lot has changed when Topaz's father died of poison and then was later revealed that Jasper murdered him after he found out that Agate gave up about Topaz's disappointing behavior and decided to divide the will to his four children equally- though Jasper wanted to take it all. Then after his sister Beryl, Robert, and his sister-in-law Georgia died in murder leaving Lazuli injured and his newly-founded niece Esmeralda an orphan, Topaz blamed himself that he should've been more responsible, so he decided to stay in the manor as an heir and patriarch, but he'll do it in his own different way. That was when he discovered how his nephew Garnet was treated for "his lack of magic" by his father, which angered Topaz. So, he decided to renovate the manor, mainly to make his father roll in his grave, though his mother Ester didn't seem to care at all. He also tried to give support to Garnet as much as possible and comfort him about him "being a squib", which was pretty much working thanks to Ester's help. However, the family was wrong about Garnet being a squib- he turned out to be a late-bloomer when he revealed his first accidental magic at age 10. Then one time in January, Jasper "paid for a visit" in a family dinner and want a retaliation against Topaz, Amelia, and Ester for throwing him under the bus. So after stunning their mother, the three engaged in a duel. Topaz failed to shield the fire spell his Jasper had casted and the spell wounded Garnet, and so he rushed to his nephew's aid while Amelia and Jasper dueled against one another. After she scarred her husband and forcing him to run away again, they had a lot of thing to fix in the mess- In which the most concerned was his nephew Garnet and his growing bitterness.
Year 2034, in the Hogsmeade Memorial Park, Topaz met a man by the name of Antony Tempest. Well, technically, he was the one who approached him in the first place but that made him feel better. They seemed to have their own problems and talked here and there, and for two years they've been friends. Or rather, probably close friends. But that was all changed in 2036 when Topaz came to realize that he was having romantic feelings for Antony, which at first he thought was just a weird nervous feeling. He talked to his sister-in-law Amelia about it since Lazuli can't help with his situation, and her response was to go for it while he's still alive. So he did. Topaz invited Antony in a pastry shop and rambling about his apparent feelings all while expecting Antony to walk out even if Topaz was completely aware that he was gay. Surprisingly it didn't when Antony (nervously) reciprocated, but they eventually moved on from that and been dating ever since.

▶ IRRITABLE — Apparently, Garnet's nasty temper is something he inherited from his father, the only difference is the fact that Garnet has better control of it. He gets easily annoyed and would make snarky and sarcastic quips, but most of the time Garnet would simmer in resentment that it makes him come across as someone who has a big chip on the shoulder. His words can be short and terse when he is talking to someone he doesn't like, but Garnet is very intent on not starting a fight so most of the time he simple bite his tongue. That is, unless, you trigger his ire to the point that Garnet gets really angry. It's a real disaster when he gets angry.
▶ WARY — He observes before he speaks or acts, and that's how Garnet rolls. He doesn't think that diving things headfirst is a good idea for anyone, nor was letting his first thoughts take the wheel of his actions. He could also be a bit too wary of things around him, leading him to have anxious thoughts and it makes him quite restless. He can be really cynical, too, as he grew the mentality that he should keep his guard so much that he ended up getting trust issues... So good luck earning his trust when you meet him
▶ LONESOME — Garnet doesn't have an ego, but he doesn't really like being not recognized or ignored. It has been a problem ever since his bitterness began to surface onto him, which lead him to think that maybe people just didn't like him because of his family's bad reputation or the fact that his father is a criminal. He is beginning to learn to accept his thinking that the only people who could give him a warm hand are his family alone, but there are times he wants to think otherwise. He likes being in a group of people, especially the type who would not mind his presence even if it meant handling his hard shell.
▶ ASPIRING — Someone who had a lot to prove to himself, Garnet wanted to do anything that would make up for his messy childhood and wanted to show people that he is anything but his ancestors. He is pretty much of a daydreamer himself, too, and he tends to imagine things he wished to happen in the future. Fortunately, he knows that he should still keep his feet on the ground as possible. On the other hand, when he has settled on the goal, Garnet is the type to go for it and grind until he got it.
▶ COMPASSIONATE — Garnet, while he usually stays in his shell, happens to have a really warm and sensitive side; In other words, he's never a cold person to start with. He's willing to help anyone and would try his effort to listen to people who needed help, though at first he would be a bit reluctant on what he should do first to anyone who needed help. ▶ CHILDHOOD —
Garnet is the only son of Jasper Mortemer and Amelia Weaver, respectively a Hit Wizard and a Wizengamot Member. Jasper's family is quite a family sneered upon since the end of the Second Wizarding War, as it was strongly proven that the amount of the Mortemer family members participated on Voldemort's side. Some were convicted and went to prison, while some managed to dodge a bullet and continued the family's wealthy line because some of them, while supporting Voldemort from the distance, didn't really join the Death Eaters army hence they didn't get that Dark Mark tattoo, so they were presumed that they were being imperioused or something like that. Besides, Garnet's grandfather was way too busy traveling the globe collecting stuff to participate in that stuff, anyway, so he was spared too. Anyway, Garnet's parents met in Hogwarts. His mother was known to be a really good, just, and upstanding person from House Slytherin. His dad was in Gryffindor and he was a really brilliant student, only that he faced the stigma of his family's bad reputation. When she hooked up with him in their sixth year, people around them started giving him the benefit of the doubt, while some think that if she was a just and smart person maybe there was a reason why she was hanging out with him. Some say that it might be a second chance, some say that it was because she never discriminates anyone.
When they got married, they were beginning to question them more and more. Both of them struggle to their position but was able to finally get their position because her good reputation in Hogwarts and her grades were something that Law Office cannot deny. The father finally got his position, given the fact that he has excellent grades that the department didn't have a good reason to turn him down other than blatant discrimination. Also, they had a kid when they were like around 19 in their honeymoon, and usually Jasper's grandparents took care of Garnet while they build up their jobs. He lives in a manor with his parents, his grandparents, and his uncle albeit not often; His uncle Topaz was a cursebreaker, and every time he came back to the manor there was always a fight going on; aunt Beryl and uncle Lazuli were living in Norfold and want nothing to do with Jasper and Agate. Garnet's father, however, was pretty much busy in his job to one point that his mother Amelia did not approve of it.
Every time Garnet's parents weren't around, his grandfather Agate would be harsh over him in hopes of making his magic show because of the fact that he was a late bloomer, that it made Garnet feel bad about being a "squib". It ended up with his grandmother Ester fighting against Agate and was protective to Garnet as a result. Garnet would try to say this to his father but he wouldn't listen and tell him to get over it, but fortunately his mother did so he grew attached to her. His grandfather figured that his grandson won't get his magic due to the mother so he told Jasper to fix it, though it didn't work as she was good at threats as well.
One day, something happened around the manor, well, something incredibly bad when he was around eight. One time, his father and his grandfather got into a fight and the next day, the grandfather died without any injuries. It was proven that there were harmful chemicals inside him, it turned that he was poisoned and was assumed that it has something to do with his hobby of collecting precious stones, and he apparently mishandled a poisonous one. But Garnet's grandmother thought otherwise that given that Jasper was obsessed with getting the heir position because he thought he was much worthy than the rest. She told Amelia and Lazuli's wife Georgia (who was a witch watcher) to investigate and months later they found some pieces of evidence that were pointed to Jasper. They contact the Law Enforcement with their evidence, but it was too late and Jasper escaped. Months later, Garnet got the news of his aunt Beryl, her lover Robert, and aunt Georgia being murdered by his father. Lazuli and Beryl's daughter Esmeralda were the only ones to survive. After that news, Garnet grew cynical as time went by and refused to be alone in the manor, so he was usually with his grandmother when his mother was at work. His uncle Topaz, probably because of guilt, decided to take his responsibility as a family head with Ester.
One time in January, when Garnet was ten and showing magic, his father appeared again during their family dinner to take his son from them- He planned to kill his brother, his wife, and his mother as retribution of throwing him under the bus. Ester abruptly refused but she got hit by a stunning spell before she could bring out her wand, and the remaining two engaged in a duel with him. During the crossfire, Garnet was injured by his father's fire spell and his uncle come to his aid. His mother Amelia, however, was enraged by her husband and injured him with a sectumsempra scar, forcing him to escape and apparate. After that, Garnet has yet to shake from whatever happened during that time. He no longer talked to his neighbors and didn't come out of the house as often as he used to do. His mother and his uncle tried to console him as much as possible, but it seemed like it has stuck to Garnet's head and resulting in a bitter attitude. Anyway, he has magic now, so he was going to Hogwarts like all others.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — Garnet, whether he liked it or not, attended Hogwarts. His train was initially quiet until he met a redhead muggleborn named Deaus, and he was his first friend in Hogwarts aside from Richard. After that, he was sorted to Slytherin just like his mother, which was one of the things that made him happy than anything. Other than that, he excelled at Herbology with his love for nature, and the rest were pretty much quiet for him if he ignored some sneers from strangers. Anyway, he also met another Gryffindor named Lucy Jacobs, a friendly (absent-minded) and upbeat classmate. Overall, Garnet came to think that maybe his first wasn't as bad as he expected.
His second year was uneventful, but his summer after that came out better as his grandmother took him to Norway for a summer vacation. At the start of his third year was okay as his mother approved the permission slip for him to go to Hogsmeade and hang out with Alec and Lucy. Also a Hufflepuff classmate named Clara Bautista persuaded him to join the Music Club after hearing his singing voice, to which he protested at first then felt resigned after finding out her stubbornness. Throughout the year, it was uneventful until at Spring when Peter Whyte confronted him at the Ground Floor Corridor into berating him about his infamous family name. Garnet was insulted and struggled holding his temper until he went to insult his mother and accused her of her being "crazy." Because Peter refused to take back what he said, Garnet snapped and viciously beat the lights out of Peter until two prefect, Diantha Warlow and Wren Argall, decided to take action with Wren restraining Garnet before he could do more damage to Peter. Both of them were sent to detention, being forced to clean out bedpans together in the infirmary. The event drastically affected Garnet's, as he was being under the impression that he was more hated at school, and so he just could not wait to go home- but at the same he was also too ashamed to go because of what his family might think of him.
Garnet then spent his entire summer having to visit a mind healer, courtesy to his uncle Topaz who was worried about his nephew's well-being (or probably being like his father). He spent the remainder at home being self-deprecating and dreading about school back to school, that caused him to have rough edges with his family. He did, however, met a Slytherin girl named Treva Warlow- a metamorphagus who was half-annoying, except Garnet didn't really hate her. In fact, she made him have some smiles albeit rarely. He was in-between brushing off his emotions, not paying attention to what he's feeling, and just rolling his eyes. On the other hand, Garnet spent some time helping Richard out for his OWLs and spent the remainder avoiding strangers.
Garnet's start of his fifth was full of surprises. First, he was appointed as prefect with Phoebe when he could not see himself as one in the first place, until his mother talked to him out of it. Second, during the start of the year- he and Treva had an heated conversation about their unsettled romantic feelings towards each other, except that was quickly settled and they began dating. Garnet found it weird at first, but he eventually warmed up to it and find the relationship very nice. He was probably the factor about the fact that Treva got into less trouble than usual over the course of the year, which he found it relieving. But then again, someone had to be the more lawful one in the pair. On the other hand, he passed almost all of his OWLs including the ones he struggled through hard work- much to his content.
His summer before starting his sixth year was quite eventful, as Treva had been hanging out in his home more often due to what seemed to be a chaotic situation in her home at Wales, involving adultery and hypocrisy. Garnet wasn't very happy about her family, but also he was deeply concerned for what Treva would do out of resentment or anger. Other than that, he was spending his time doing usual schoolwork, snogging with his girlfriend, and occasionally help Rich with his NEWTs. Now that his sixth year has ended, he was looking forward for her cousin Esmeralda to attend Hogwarts.

▶ SKITTISH — Esmeralda was understandably fearful to anything that bumps. Sudden noise, fights, conflict- she would jump at those kinds of things with her heart on her throat. She gets petrified when someone shouts at her, more so if they tried to do something bad at her or anyone she's close to. This often clashes when Esmeralda was trying to be stoic, as she cannot help but wait for the shoe to drop in the library yet want to keep herself together to prevent herself from looking fragile.
▶ SOFT-SPOKEN — Esmeralda is quiet not because she's timid or shy, she just doesn't feel like it. One of her default traits since birth, she struggles to keep up with people with either loud mouths or poor hearing. If she could get something that could actually amplify her voice in a "typically accepted" volume without the need to stress her voice, Esmeralda would. However, having to speak louder is a lot of work for her, and so it annoys her if people told her to repeat everything she has to say. And thus, she doesn't really like loud-mouths, people who love the sound of their voices, or people who just like wasting their voices. The only time she has ever raised her voice was when she was angry or had enough with your obnoxiousness that she felt the need to snap.
▶ STOIC — Not wanting to be pitied in a constant basis, Esmeralda learned to control her emotions and enduring many things with a straight face. She likes to think that she can handle anything, and so she does her best to not shed a tear and be beaten down by any circumstances. However, this made her look apathetic and aloof, but better look like that than looking useless. Fortunately, this practice gives her the ability to keep a level head and not letting her emotions cloud her judgement. But if she does reach the breaking point, Esmeralda wouldn't know how to handle her own tide of emotion once it got released.
▶ BRAVE — While Esmeralda would be lying to say that she isn't afraid of many things, she still does her best to endure it and go through it. She still has a lot of fears and would still be frozen at first, but she chose to move forward than dwelling in one place. And so, she always expects that the worst will barge in her door anytime, making her have a jaded worldview. And as much as she could empathize with unfortunate people, that doesn't mean that she will tolerate those who let tragedy consume them into a self-pitying mess. As a result, she pretty much looks down on those who are weak-willed and meek.
▶ EMPATHETIC — Esmeralda doesn't see the point of dismissing people's struggles and thinking that she had it worse. Seeing her family struggle just like her, she came to the understanding that it's best to help them rather than competing over who has the most problems of them all. And so, she empathizes with them and would help them with the best of her ability. However, one should not play the 'Pain Olympics' within her earshot, as she would be angry at anyone who says that they're the most miserable person and thus let the earth swallow them.
▶ RESOLVED — Esmeralda isn't the type to let the world make situations for her, instead she wants to be the one who gets to control her future. She plans and looks ahead, and strives to work hard for something to get what she wants as if there's a time limit. She after all values the concept of time and just doesn't like to waste it on doing nothing. This was because she felt that there will something out there who will try to stop her from getting to her goal, let alone a good life, so the fairest thing to do was to plan ahead. This makes her feel impatient and doesn't like people making her wait without anything to keep her occupied.
▶ CHILDHOOD — Esmeralda is born to a loving engaged-to-be-married couple, to Robert Anderson (a healer) and a Beryl Mortemer (a metal-charmer), both of them were sorted into Hufflepuff. Her mother was one of the rare people in her family to ever get Hufflepuff, but that was all thanks to being raised mainly by her firm and loving mother together with her twin Lazuli, who was sorted into Slytherin. Still, her mother was what people would describe as an 'odd one' back in school for both her genealogy and her shocking sorting, and so they were wary of her presence. Beryl was an introvert and wasn't bother by this, satisfied with a few friends including her twin who doubled as her best friend. Eventually, she fell in love with her classmate and housemate named Robert, who came from one of those small, new, and "mundane" pureblood families. Beryl's father Agate was at first reluctant of letting his only daughter date Robert but he eventually let them be together because as long as she's with a pureblood, he was fine with it.
And so, Robert proposed to Beryl and they're happily engaged despite his parents thinking that something bad will happen to them, no matter how they like their future daughter-in-law. Not wanting to immediately get hitched, they decided to wait until both sides were comfortable with setting a wedding ceremony. Additionally, she, her twin, and Robert decided to move out and live under one roof in Norfolk. Along the way, they had a child three years later, which wasn't part of the plan, but they decided to roll with it. Beryl's mother Ester wasn't bothered, as long as it came from her daughter and her future son-in-law, not from some mistress or something related to infidelity (though it took a lot of talking for Agate to finally calm down and accept that, while they do have child out of wedlock, at least they were going to marry soon). The couple decided to name their daughter Esmeralda, and the child grew up with them happily... for only two years.
She was playing with her Uncle Lazuli and his wife Georgia, with Esmeralda's parents in the living room when her uncle Jasper "paid for a visit" in their home. The next thing that happened was bright lights and loud noises emitting from wands, eventually it left Esmeralda and her uncle Laz wounded and scarred because of what they witnessed- Her aunt Georgia was murdered, and same goes to Beryl and Robert. The girl was deeply stricken by grief over the loss of her parents that she was constantly pitied by her family. The next thing that happened was that she and her uncle left their home at Norfolk after going out of the hospital, eventually moving to Sussex with the rest of her relatives. There, she met her cousin Garnet for the first time, and his once-distant uncle Topaz was now living with them and renovating the entire home. Lazuli decided to take her niece under his wing for his twin's sake, and so he raised her with Ester's assistance. At age four, something happened again in the holiday dinner, her uncle Jasper arrived and it ended up with another fight again between his wife and Topaz. Lazuli was able to protect Esmeralda from harm successfully, but not Garnet who was wounded by his father. While she was unscathed, she saw the bad things that happened and so she has her growing hatred for Jasper. She also developed a jaded worldview even if she wasn't about to show it to her family, especially when they worry a lot when her cousin also has the same cynical (and bitter) mindset.
Other than that, Esmeralda was primarily raised by her uncle who now owns a metal works shop and an inventor. Thus, she grew up being crafty and fell in love with the crafts to the point that she would pester him into at least letting her help. In contrast to how her maternal grandmother paid her a lot of loving attention, her paternal grandparents were distant at best. As if they couldn't look at her in the eyes and remind them of her father's. It made Esmeralda felt sad but she eventually learned that they're likely a lost cause if they couldn't at least keep in touch with her just because of that detail. So by the time she's going to Hogwarts, Esmeralda had her surname opted out by request mostly for convenience's sake. She didn't care if the surname has a bad lining, after all.

▶ PROTECTIVE — This is quite known to her friends and family; Amelia is fiercely protective to the people close to her. She values her family and would do her best to keep them out from harm. In fact, if one of them were wronged severely, she could go as far as being vengeful no matter who they are. However, if the people close to her did fell to harm, Amelia would be struck with guilt into thinking that she should have done much better.
▶ CLEVER — Though she isn't one to brag, Amelia is good a picking up ideas quickly. She has a clear head and would use it to calculate the things around her vicinity. She isn't one to rush headfirst, Amelia thinks before she acts and thus she comes off as militaristic to people who aren't on her level.
▶ AMBITIOUS — Amelia's life was driven with ambition, and she would very much like it if someone doesn't stop her. She believes that the more she works hard for it fair and square, the more she's closer to achieve. Of course, this made Amelia unknowingly ignore other priorities and necessities, which is something she's trying to remove from her system.
▶ VIRTUOUS — Being a Weaver, this is no surprise to people who know a thing about them and she doesn't even try to hide the fact that she values good morals. ➥Background History
▶ CHILDHOOD — Amelia came from a new, quiet, and middle-class pureblood family, to Wandmaker William (or much known as 'Billy') and Healer Kelcey Weaver. She is the eldest among the three siblings with her brothers Manuel and Cade, who were now a valiant ministry worker and an extroverted Healer respectively. She was enrolled to Muggle schooling with them to widen their view, and so it did effectively. Amelia grew up in an understanding that muggles weren't that bad in the modern times, and thus not having a single notion against them at all. She was taught the value of high moralities and indulging to books about people bringing justice and thus, it inspired her to work in the Ministry at an early age.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — After receiving her magic at age nine, she enrolled to Hogwarts like her parents. However, unlike her Ravenclaw father and Gryffindor mother, the hat saw her ambitious streak, so it sorted her to Slytherin. Her brother Manuel was sorted to Gryffindor and eventually, Cade went to Slytherin just like her. The young girl was just and upstanding with a lot of friends, including Jasper. When she met him, he was reserved but determined; she hasn't heard anything "blood-related" from him. They eventually hooked up during their sixth year, and that was how people beginning to question her. Amelia reasoned that just because Jasper came from an ill-fated family didn't mean he was just like them, so people decided to take her word and go.
▶ POST-GRADUATION — Right after she graduated, Amelia immediately applied for a job in the Ministry, albeit she was reluctantly accepted by the superiors due to her connection to Jasper. However, due to her good reputation and undeniable NEWTs, the ministry could not turn down a person like her. She worked in the Wizengamot Administration Services at first, assisting and learning the ins-and-outs of the court. She eloped with Jasper and married privately, much to her family's concern no matter how they loved their daughter. During their honeymoon, she was pregnant and eventually gave birth to their son Garnet. However, due to how she had a job to work hard for, she left her son to Jasper's mother Ester upon his suggestion. However, eventually, she found out from Garnet about how her father-in-law Agate was verbally harsh to him "just to make him show magic" which was much to her disapproval. So, Amelia had Garnet stay away from him and would ask her family to look after him as possible, though her family was known to be truthfully busy with their jobs. Because Agate was tired of getting to Garnet, he had Jasper to threaten her except it failed due to her very protective streak- As Amelia threatened them that she would gladly report them to the Ministry if they try to raise a hand at her.
As she finally got her position in the Wizengamot, Amelia was starting to lose her patience to Jasper. Until one time, Agate died the day after he and her husband argued about who gets to inherit the will because he was planning on dividing it to his four children equally. She didn't know why and she was getting suspicious that even Ester asked her and Georgia to investigate resulting in getting concrete evidence. Amelia was at first in denial that there was no way her husband could do patricide but there was no point denying it if there were evidence right in her eyes. She was about to contact her brother Manuel but she refrained knowing that it would put her other family to danger. So, she then let Georgia do the reporting instead because she was a Witch Watcher.
Months later, while the Weavers were safe from the danger, the Mortemers weren't. Georgia, Beryl, and her fiance Robert were murdered. Lazuli and his niece Esmeralda were sent to the hospital for their wounds. While Amelia felt guilty for what happened, she was also relieved that Jasper wasn't after her family. Topaz finally took the guts to step in and finally did his job as a patriarch. Amelia decided to compromise her job to be there for her son Garnet as he tried to digest from what happened to his father. Until one time, Garnet wasn't actually a squib, he was a late-blooming wizard just like her. That being said, she wondered if she could just say it to Agate about how she got her magic late, maybe her son won't have to suffer from being mistaken as a squib.
A few years has passed, Jasper returned once again to their home, but this time, he was planning to kill her, Topaz, and Ester. Amelia had no choice but to fight against him with Topaz, but it has gone to a mess. During the duel, Garnet was hit by Jasper's spell and it wounded him. This enraged Amelia and so she drove off Jasper, giving him a scar on his face. It took so much time before they cleaned up the aftermath, and right now, Amelia was beginning to have this growing fear that one day, her parents and brothers might be next.

▶ ALTRUISTIC — Lazuli is surprisingly generous to his skills and his time, especially when it comes to people close to him. While not a pushover, Lazuli was willing to help anyone... anyone especially if he knew that he has the time to do it. While he was indeed positively selfless and kind, this leave him little time for himself while feeling bitterness when Lazuli was being used.
▶ VISIONARY — He was a gifted visionary, intelligent, and he sees things in a different angle like how an inventor does. As a result, this made him an odd one out of the four siblings- together with his twin Beryl. He apparently doesn't know when to quit, and will strive to reach for his goals and plans for the betterment of himself and the people around him. He usually plays fair and square but when the dire situation calls for it, he wouldn't hesitate to get his hands dirty if it was a matter of life and death- but with good intentions.
▶ QUIET — Even as a child, Lazuli was a very soft-spoken person like his niece Esmeralda- to the point his father pretty much ignored him because he was seen as a very delicate boy. He rarely speaks up and rarely ever raised his voice. He keeps his intentions and thoughts hidden from the people around him, including even his own family. This made him come-off as mysterious at best and possibly a sociopath at worst (he's not), even if he was the most mellow brother among the three sons.
▶ SOLEMN — Given his past, Lazuli was to the point that he expected the worst case scenario to come at his doorstep anytime, anywhere. If something positive was given in front of him, it will leave him wondering if he deserved it or if it was a false sense of hope. While he would never let people down lest of being a burden to them, Lazuli was a really solemn and anxious man as a result- rarely giving people a sincere happy smile (he only smiles out of politeness) and sometimes struggles to see himself having peace. This is the exact reason why he puts people's well-being first before himself.
▶ NURTURING — Deep down, Lazuli has a incredibly soft side, particularly to children and animals. He supports his friends as much as he can, and was considerate to people's feelings to the point that he turned out to be easy to talk with. To children, he would never even try to express his cynicism to them- as he wanted them to have a happy childhood and hope for the best. Now, if only if he applies this to himself...

➥ Background History
▶ CHILDHOOD — Lazuli was born minutes before his twin sister Beryl, to Agate and Ester Mortemer- a cursebreaker and an herbologist respectively. As a child, Lazuli was often overshadowed by his two brothers who often rivalled each other and their father always paid attention to Topaz and Jasper. Except, Topaz was the only older sibling to actually care for the twins, whereas Jasper just ignored them all the time because "they're not worth his time". Lazuli and Beryl were primarily raised by their very firm yet loving mother as a result, all while being ignored by his father was he was deemed too meek and weak to get on his old brothers' level. Besides, they already have an heir and a spare, so Lazuli was often left to his own devices in the study- with him and Beryl wishing to make a difference and shake things up a little in the house when nobody's looking.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — The time when he got in Hogwarts was the time Lazuli realized that there was more to him than his father described of him. His ambitious nature, made him land to Slytherin as a result- while his twin was sorted to Hufflepuff. While other people were surprised of Beryl's sorting, Lazuli was not- as he already knew that Beryl was already hardworking and fair from the start. The twins weren't bothered by this separation, though Lazuli was more bothered by how his family stigma affected his effort to make friends- though he and Beryl managed to have friends who were more open-minded than everyone else. One of them was his first love named Georgia Portinari- a Gryffindor girl and a black sheep from her snobbish Ravenclaw family. With this kinship, they bonded and started dating in their sixth year. Academic-wise, Lazuli excelled a lot in his wandwork and alchemy; because he was a visionary who always want to improve something for the community, he wanted to invent things. Fortunately, Beryl joined in with her dream to be a metal charmer as well.
▶ POST-GRADUATION — Right after he graduated with his twin, they decided to move out from Sussex and live in a town of Norfolk with Georgia and Robert, who was Beryl's boyfriend. The twins dedicated their work in crafts with the support of their mother (much to their father's chagrin) and they've been happy. At age eighteen, Beryl and Robert gave birth to a girl named Esmeralda and the year after, Lazuli and Georgia decided to get married with a very small wedding as Georgia no longer cared about the disapproval from her parents- not that it bothered them to start with. Nevertheless, Lazuli was convinced that they will be living a better life now that they were away from Sussex. It was mainly because it means being away from his father and his brother Jasper, while also doing anything he wants and starting a new path. At least, that's what he thought it was going to happen, anyway.
At age 21, he found out the news of his father being murdered, leaving he twins torn about what they should feel. Their father was an elitist, terrible, and ignored the twins most of the time- but they didn't have enough bitterness to wish him death. Months later after that, an intruder broke into their home. Lazuli cannot (or rather, didn't want to) remember much after hearing disturbing noises from the lviing, but he remembered that it was a mess and Jasper was trying to kill him while Lazuli tried to fight back. Had Georgia not intervene with a final spell, Lazuli and a two-year old Esmeralda would have died but in return it took the life for his wife immediately. The next thing Lazuli remember was that he was in a hospital with his niece, who was also injured but not as bad as her uncle's.
The realization of how his friend Robert, his wife Georgia, and his twin sister Beryl all lost their lives in one night was too painful for Lazuli to handle that he sometimes wished that he should also die with them, too- but also he felt like he shouldn't die, too. Esmeralda was the only one to survive aside from him and thus it was his responsibility to look after his sister's only daughter. After his eldest brother Topaz returned home to take responsibility as a family head, Lazuli followed suit and reluctantly left his supposedly new home in Norfolk with his niece, since all he could think about from that house was everything terrible. He at first struggled at raising Esmeralda on his own until his mother offered her assistance, and also tried to talk to his once-distant nephew Garnet for the first time. It turns out that they share a kinship despite Garnet being Jasper's son, except the boy struggled in lacking magic and having to pay the consequences for being a "squib" until all of that was proven wrong.
A few years later, Lazuli couldn't seem to get a break when Jasper once again came to Sussex to pay retribution. As Topaz and Amelia stood up to him and fight, Lazuli was quick to get Esmeralda and protect her from harm- but he didn't get to protect Garnet in time as Jasper's fire spell (that was meant for Topaz) caught him. Maybe Jasper must have felt terrible about it, Lazuli would think, as it gave Amelia the opportunity to drive him off the estate. It took so many days before they cleaned up the aftermath, and Lazuli never got any sleep after that. It left him to wonder if he didn't deserve to have peace in his life, but he sure did know that his niece never deserved it. He wanted to make sure that Esmeralda can grow up to have a better life, but it left him little time for himself as a result.
