Walking through the market with a full dress on and a shawl over her hair, Aaricia slowly traversed the stalls for new clothes. She still wasn't very fond of the Oban clothing. It was either too heavy or too light for her taste, and finding that balance was difficult.
Spotting a tradesman's wagon, her eyes lit up. That looked like fabric from Zena! Aaricia hurried over, eyes starting to water as she touched the soft fabric bolts. Had her mother made any of these? She quickly brushed at her eyes, trying to keep her posture. No crying...
Glancing around, she pushed her hood back and held a few fabrics up. She wanted something that went nicely with her hair... Her father would be so cranky~

Alright, he could do this! Words that he repeated in his head over and over again as he peeked out the door, glancing one way and then the other, before he stepped outside. After the festival going so smoothly he'd started to feel a tad braver when it came to going out in public. Sure, he still kept his hood up, but at least he was going outside alone... well, somewhat alone at least. He still had Junior with him after all. Glancing down at the little snaptrotter he gave a smile, "Alright, the two of us are going to go to the marketplace on a couple errands." He told the deep green whelp at his side. Making sure he had a firm hold on the leash that connected to Junior's harness teh two of them started forward toward where the marketplace was located. It had been a long time since he'd gone out like this, having been rather afraid to do so, certain that he could get capture by Muata again were he to stray far. Everything had gone well though during the festival, and he was a smart man, so he felt that he'd be alright this time too. He just had to be cautious was all. Glancing from side to side as they arrived he dug into his pack with his free hand, getting out his list, "First things first, we need to pick up some sewing supplies. I have clothes both belonging to the twins and to myself that need patched up." He told Junior, getting a chirp in reply before they headed forward again.

As Aaricia held more fabrics against herself, she felt a little smile grow. It felt like when she was just a girl, helping her mother prepare fabrics for the market. While her mother had worked for a business owner, she also had worked from home. Aaricia had often helped with the home work.
Not too much later, she had her satchel practically filled with new cloth and her hood back up in place. Now, to get matching thread, and a new needle. Luckily, the market had its wares laid out with general organization. It wasn't difficult to find the right stalls. With a handful of swatches, she compared fabric to thread for compatibility.
A particularly snobbish Oban woman looked down at Aaricia's fabrics and snorted. "I believe those cloths were brought to Oba for Oban people," she sniffed, reaching out to touch the blue braid peeking out from under Aaricia's hood. "Do you really think they'll be fitting for such an oddity?"
Aaricia ducked her head a little. "Cloths are meant for whoever wishes to buy them," she murmured, keeping her focus nervously on the thread in her hand. She didn't dare meet the gaze of an elder already being hostile... Never mind that this woman was a fairly consistent harassment on most of her market place trips.

Incanthis arrived at the booth in the midst of the 'conversation' between the pair of women. He was looking for what he needed to patch up the clothing when he found himself actually looking at the woman that was standing within arm's reach of him. What made her an 'oddity' he found himself wondering, spotting what looked like blue hair on an Oban. Was it dye? Was it due to a mixed heritage? He couldn't really say at a glance but the woman behind the booth seemed to think that it instantly meant the girl was 'odd' which seemed rather old fashion to him... but that could be due to where he was living now. One of those in charge was Oban, one was a mix, and their adopted sons were Matorian. Hard to see people as odd when living with a very mixed up family, all of them good people. Turning to the woman in the hood he said, "There is a small store front not far from here, an actual building as opposed to a booth, that is run by a few people. I've bought many a thing from them and I am pretty odd myself. I'd recommend it over this place if she's so eager to turn you away." He was doing his best to sound confident in what he was saying even though inside he was shaking like a leaf in a hurricane, his stomach in knots. Maybe it was the fact that she was much younger then him but he felt the desire to protect her from the abhorrent Oban woman. Setting down what he'd been looking at he said to Junior, "I don't think this is the place for us either, Junior, want to move on?" A question that got a chirp from the whelp as though he were actually answering Incanthis.

Aaricia hesitated with the thread in her hands. Just buy it and go... Just buy it and go... As a new voice cropped up, she looked over curiously. They were talking to her! A... shifter, right?
The woman of the stall snorted and waved her hand. "This is the best quality thread in the market. Besides, your father and I have an agreement, girl."
Aaricia ducked her head. That was right... her father did insist she buy only from those he had as a contact... However, with the shifter's boldness, she felt herself able to lift her chin and smile. "I'll have to discuss his choices of vendors with him then," she mused. ..Not that she could ever face her father with any sort of disagreement, but it was amusing to see the woman flinch at the empty threat.
Turning toward the stranger, she gave an appreciative little bow of her head. "If it's not too much trouble, would you mind showing me where this other booth is?"

Incanthis glanced between the Oban woman and the bluenette girl before he nodded his head, "Yeah, I don't mind showing you the way." He would need to pick up things from there now himself given that he'd most certainly burned a bridge when it came to this booth. Not that he was certain that she'd of even sold anything to him. If she thought a girl with blue hair was weird then what would she think of an outsider like him? Motioning to her to walking with him he said, "It's not all that far from here so it shouldn't take us long to get there." His hands clasped together tightly, hidden by the long sleeves he wore, as he walked along. He wanted to be brave so best that he kept the front up at least until they were away from the intimidating shopkeeper he thought to himself, his steps quickened, but not so much so that Junior wouldn't be able to keep up with them. Once he got to what he felt was a 'safe' distance he gave a sighing sound of relief turning to the girl and said, "I hope you don't mind interfering, people like that just... rub me the wrong way." There was little he could do against them since he was far from being a fighter, but that didn't meant that he wouldn't at least try to intervene if it meant helping others out. As a healer it was something that he wanted to do after all, even if helping didn't always involve magic.

Aaricia held her basket firmly, walking stiffly as she followed after the young man. Truthfully, she was grateful for the quick pace. She didn't want to linger around the stubborn woman either.
Brow rising at the soft sigh, she looked over to the man and smiled softly. "Oh, not at all. I appreciate your help very much." Blushing slightly, she looked down at the fabrics she'd collected. "Was there really.. another shop though? I do need that thread, and the woman really does have a deal with my father. He.. isn't likely to listen to what I have to say about her... so going back to her will not be pleasant."

Incanthis gave a nod of his head, "Yes, there is a shop... I wouldn't lie about that sort of thing. It's a nice place, one that I used to go to nearly daily for a while there." That was less for supplies and more to stalk for new fabric coming in for his Master's woman, but he kept that to himself. He didn't feel that talking about that sort of thing was right, not when in the company of an Oban, not when he knew that not all Obans were of that sort of mind. "I can show you where it is and show you around the shop if you like? It didn't really change all that much in all the time I visited so I doubt it's changed much in the time that I was away." It would be nice to visit again. Especially since he'd be going of his own accord instead of because he was told to go there to fetch and carry. To be able to go there because he wanted to would be rather nice, wouldn't it? Giving the bluenette a smile he said, "Since we will be shopping together perhaps we should exchange names? Mine is Incanthis."

Looking up, Aaricia smiled appreciatively. It was a relief to hear she could find her thread elsewhere. "I would very much appreciate your help." Turning away from a designated stall and spending time with a non-Oban in one evening! Oooh, she was probably going to get an earful later... but it would surely be worth it.
Brow rising with surprise, she blushed and gave a little curtsy to the man. "My apologies, I should have introduced myself sooner. My name is Aaricia. It is a pleasure to meet you, Incanthis." Looking at the creature following Incanthis around, she smiled and gestured lightly with a hand. "And.. who is this?"

Incanthis gave a smile, glad to here that she was alright with his help and that she would join him. It made him feel a little better about running these errands, feeling that maybe he wouldn't draw as much attention if he was with someone else who was Oban. Maybe attention wouldn't be turned his way which would allow him to continue to move about safely. That was what he was praying for at least as he started toward where he knew the shop of be. Turning to look at his temporary companion he said, "It's nice to meet you, Aaricia." His silver eyes turned for a moment toward where Junior was as the emerald snaptrotter walked along at his side. The little whelp seemed to have deemed Aaricia as not being a danger and wasn't looking her way, but as she asked about him the little one looked her way. It was a long, narrow eyed look that she was given before he was back to watching the crowd. Giving a little shake of his head Incanthis said, "His name is Junior... and don't mind him. He fancies himself my bodyguard so I think he wants to keep an eye out seriously. If there wasn't such a crowd I'm sure he'd be more friendly." Save for the severe expression that was, Junior always looked grumpy he thought to himself idly.

"Junior?" She cocked her head slightly as the snaptrotter looked at her, and the creature's response made her smile. "He's cute~ Perhaps I'll get the chance to meet him in less of a crowd."
Looking forward, she saw the various looks thrown their way. ...Feeling as though she was pushing enough buttons, she pulled her hood back up and tucked her braid away. One earful about her disobedience would be bad enough. "I hope I haven't caused you any future trouble here," she said softly.

Incanthis gave a thoughtful sound in his throat before he said, "You needn't worry about me. If I were to have any future troubles it would be due to my own actions, not because I stepped in to help you." He hoped to reassure her that the run in with the unpleasent merchant woman wouldn't be much of a bother to him. At least no more of an issue then any thers he had to deal with. He somehow doubted that the woman would even think much of him other then seeing him as an annoying outsider which was how a lot of people saw him. Sure, there were those that were more friendly nowadays, many years had passed since the war, but not everyone was welcoming. Giving a smile he lifted a hand, motioning to a small building that stood at the edge of the marketplace, "That is where we are heading." He told her, moving ahead so that he could open up the door to the small shop, allowing Aaricia to head in before him, "Right inside the door is a shelf that is full of cloth that is just scrapes or less then half bolts, things that you have to be creative to use. It tends to be a lot cheaper then when you buy full bolts or the new designs." Which was what he'd be looking through since he wanted to look for cloth that would be useful for patches. "Just passed that shelf is where you can find all the bits and bobs, things like thread, needles, thimbles, and the like." As he explained he took Junior's leash off his wrist, attaching it to a hook at the door so he could wait there without any risk that the whelp would start getting into everything.

With a small nod of understanding, Aaricia couldn't help a small smirk. "Are you used to causing trouble, Incanthis?" She was used to trying to stay out of trouble, not actively causing it. ..Passively being troublesome was different, though.
She looked around the new shop, Aaricia chewed her lip with curiosity. "I wish I had know about this shop sooner." She glanced back at Junior and gave him a wave with her fingers; keeping a safe distance away, of course. Looking to the shifter, she hesitated before lifting her chin. "If.. If you are not too busy, would you be able to stay here for a while? I wish to talk with you further after I'm done shopping."

"Not on purpose." He murmured, giving the girl a momentary glance before he walked forward into the shop, walking to the the shelves that had the cloth that would work well for patch work. He had to seek out things that would work well but without standing out too much. He was working on patching clothing for a couple of boys after all, those that had hard jobs. They needed patches that weren't too flashy and would be able to stand up to the training that they did. Looking over at Aaricia he gave a smile and said, "It's a nice place but it's one that is easy to miss if you don't know about it since they aren't calling for attention out in the marketplace." They didn't have a booth, didn't make a lot of noise to get attention, instead they were just here for those that were aware of them. It tended to be ladies that wanted to get their hands on the new cloth that the shop got before anyone else got it first. It was an interesting thing watch, the way that some of the more important, fancy ladies fought over pretty things. As he was asked to stay for a while, to talk with her, he gave a nod, "It should be alright for me to stay out for a while." So long as he wasn't gone so long that the household that he lived in didn't freak out and come searching for him.

Aaricia smiled lightly. It was a comfort to know Incanthis didn't outright cause trouble out of spite. At least, that was the impression she got. "For a business to be able to survive without such outright advertising speaks volumes to the work done here."
Nodding as the man accepted her request, she looked through the available threads carefully. "Do you sew much, then?" she asked, glancing over at the shifter.
