She wasn't anxious to the point of shaking out of her skin. She was happy, relieved, the anticipation rising and combining into a swell of excitement. After seeing the bracket she couldn't stop feeling on edge-but in a good way. If she beats Maria this round, if she wins again- she can keep her promise- to face Kirsi in the semi-final match. She couldn't get it out of her head. Battling against her friend would be the greatest thing in the world to her. Like she had talked about before it was something she thought was really important. Of course she had to think about the now. Right now she was facing someone she barely knew, only that she has a puppy pokemon...She hated not preparing as well as she could've, if she made it past this she was going to prepare the heck out of her battle against Kirsi. She had to look to it, she just had to.
She slowed her run into the arena til she made it to her designated spot. She panted a little, feeling she should've left a little sooner than she did. She stretched up and Cyndaquil got her attention to put him on the ground. She did so and placed him just in front of her feet. He slowly walked forward and stood there while Koru continued her stretching to loosen up a bit. her smile began to fade into a confused look towards Maria, something didn't look right. She looked down, like she had some sort of weight pushing her to the ground, even the pokemon at her feet looked a little worried, "Maria you okay to battle?" She finally came out and asked. If she wasn't feeling well then she shouldn't push herself. She kept the confusion and concern on her face, but if Maria didn't say something soon then the battle would begin- and then there's no turning back.

 Olivier the Referee The first round had been a huge success and the audience witness some amazing battles taking place. Olivier was able to see the battle up close and he got to witness the excitement and thrills from each battle. With the winners declared, they would be moving to the next round and once again he would get to see the action up-close. Olivier entered the stage carrying his red and green flags in each hand as well as a smile on his lips.
"This battle is about to start! The competitors are summoning their Pokemon right now. A hot battle will soon commence so trainers get ready!" Olivier spoke with a clear voice into the mic that was on his ear. This allowed everyone in the stadium to listen to his voice. Once both trainer and pokemon were ready, Olivier raised his red and green flag in the air.
"Let the battle...begin!"==========
(Koru's Cyndaquil has the Timid Nature so that means Cyndaquil will make the first move 3nodding good luck!)

▁▒▒▓▁▁▁▁Korυ Freɴe▁▁▁▁▓▒▒▁◉Wнere:StadiumWιтн:Cyndaquil/Lilipup/Maria Word Coυɴт:273Feelιɴɢ: Concerned/ProudOOC:Rue I am so sorry this took so long!◉ Koru's focus quickly turned at the presence of the referee. Looks like Maria wasn't going to get a chance to say anything until the battle was over or if she called a timeout. Maybe after the battle Koru could ask what was wrong, or even if there was anything she could do. She didn't like seeing anyone this way...The referee alerted them that the battle was about to begin. As he raised his flag to call the start, she closed her eyes and took in a sharp breath then steadily let it back out. Cyndaquil was still as she was. That last battle wasn't as scary as he thought, not counting those shooting stars- they were horrifying. Koru and Cyndaquil knew last battle they did well, but they could do better together. As the sound of the flag fluttered in the air as the ref shot it down her golden eyes opened up and immediately Cyndaquil's flame burst out of his back. She raised her hand without hesitation and called out to him, "Quickly Cyndaquil use Ember as close as you can!"
Cyndaquil's attention switched into action and immediately he began scurrying across the battlefield. Lilipup was becoming closer and closer but...he didn't want to get too close! Cyndaquil opened his mouth and flaming embers engulfed Lilipup. If Lilipup was burning after or not that was tough to say. Koru couldn't help but let a smile appear. Watching Cyndaquil battle was so esciting and if she was asked she would say she was so happy watching the little guy go. Still, the lingering worry of Maria's current state was staggering in her mind.

Koru started thinking to herself, was she being too harsh when she was worried about her opponent? It's tough showing sympathy in battle...Her eyes moved up from the field to Maria telling her she was saying she was okay. Koru didn't really believe her but it showed her that Maria was commited to their battle. Koru smiled at her and nodded, but then she was caught a little off guard when she called for Lilipup to rush in for a tackle attack. The mood was changing very quickly this battle. "Ah Cyndaquil look out!"
Cyndaquil was running in sparatic patterns trying to escape the puppy pokemon, but as he turned around to run back to Koru Lilipup hit him on the side. Cyndaquil, in a fright turned his head towards Lilipup and black smoke burst forth. Koru was dumbfounded- she didn't even call an attack yet! "Cyndaquil I-!" her cheeks lit up light a christmas light- she couldn't say she didn't tell him to do that...This was just like back at the hotel room...She shifted her lips into a nervous- obviously fake- smile of confidence and announced partially proud sounding, "A-Aha! Good job Cyndaquil way to use the smokescreen!" She gave a thumbs up but it was obvious to the audience and to Maria that this wasn't intended..."Ugh...." she inwardly groaned. Still red in the face she began to actually give a command,"Let's keep on the smokescreen Cyndaquil they can't attack if they can't see!" Okay maybe this was a smart move. To think she even told that new kid Avery to watch the battle. Cyndaquil's gonna need a little more courage if he's gonna get through this.

Looks like this little hiccup turns the tables for a moment, but now Lilipup was out of sight of Cyndaquil too- what would it do now? Koru didn't even blink, afraid to miss something. She heard Maria call out to Lilipup, causing her to twitch in reaction, "Okay..." She mumbled to herself. It went silent again and then she could hear the pup pokemon's barking. Koru looked down at Cyndaquil and tried to talk in as calm a voice as possible, "Something's happening Cyndaquil stay on your toes." It wasn't even a moment after speaking that Lilipup rushed out of the smokescreen and charged at Cyndaquil with a mouth of fangs. Both Koru and Cyndaquil were surprised, but Cyndaquil felt too afraid to move.
Seeing those teeth coming in was like something in a nightmare, "QUIL!" Cyndaquil cried out as Lilipup bit into him. He was pushed to the ground by the incraesed weight and Lilipup was on top and not letting go. Koru instantly worried and called out not a command but a plea,"Hey get off of him! Cyndaquil try to shake him off!" Cyndaquil tried but it hurt too much to try and wiggle out of Lilipup's vicegrip of fangs. Koru growled deep in her throat. She may have been worried about Maria but she worried more about Cyndaquil more. She said in an almost angry voice,"I said get off of him! Cyndaquil use Ember!" His back flame was fluctuating on and off from his current state of emotion- heck it wouldn't turn on 'cause he was freaking the heck out! Finally it became stable and Cyndaquil shot a sparatic wave of embers right in Lilpup's face. Koru felt upset that Cyndaquil was in pain from the attack, but she shouldn't have acted in such a way. When this was over she would apologize to Maria...

▁▒▒▓▁▁▁▁Korυ Freɴe▁▁▁▁▓▒▒▁◉Wнere:StadiumWιтн:Cyndaquil/Lilipup/Maria Word Coυɴт:368Feelιɴɢ: Concerned/ProudOOC:SO CLOSE TO THE FINISH XD◉ Okay...maybe she overreacted a little bit. This was a battle after all right? She just- just hearing Cyndaquil's high squeaked cries struck her like a baseball bat to the stomach. He wasn't ready for real battle yet, but by doing this she- as well as him- knew that doing this would make them stronger. They both just need to control their emotions a little better, knowing this kind of thing will happen again, and getting mad or scared wasn't going to do anything to make it better. Cyndaquil took a few sharp quick breaths, feeling freed from Lilipup's bite, but the feeling itself wasn't gone. He felt chills go up his spine now looking at the once adorable pup. Koru saw him looking afraid.
She knelt down and calmly took a breath then spoke to him, "Cyndaquil it's okay. Just breath you're doing just fine." She stodd back up and watched for what Maria and Lilipup would do next. At the moment he was doing what anyone would do if they were on fire, the stop drop and roll tactic. She calmed her expression a bit and called out, "Sorry 'bout that Maria!" She didn't plan on barbecuing her pokemon this round, but now Maria was aware of what would happen if they got that close again. Lilipup was ordered to run in for a tackle and the pup rushed towards Cyndaquil. Koru tried to tell him to dodge but he having trouble figuring out which direction to go. His indecisiveness got the better of him as Lilipup hit against him and he fell to the ground, dust clouds puffing up from the impact.
Surprisingly he shakily got up and shook his head to regain his stability. Koru smiled big- that was the determination he needed! That was the fire slowly building up again! Koru raised her fist then flung it around and then opened her palm outward calling out to Cyndaquil, "Keep strong buddy use tackle too!" Cyndaquil seemed to suddenly go calm. Suddenly a spring in his step shot him in a sprint for Lilipup, who still wasn't too far from him after his own tackle attack. Now let's see who has the heavy hitter now!

Looked like Maria took her apology, but of course it was a quick sorry and she would give a more proper one after the battle, but now it was time to bring it home. Maria called Lilipup in for another bite attack. Koru grumbled displeased but she knew Lilipup was scaring Cyndaquil to the point he couldn't dodge, so she only encouraged him to hang on, "Brace yourself Cyndaquil don't let him scare you!" Cyndaquil skipped backwards then to the side to get back on both feet, but it wasn't anytime in-between that and Lilipup's teeth latching onto him again, "Quli!" It wasn't as bad as the last time, but it still all the same hurt. He winced to try and not cry, he didn't want to cry!
Koru didn't want to either, but she couldn't help but feel the same way as before. She finally launched her fist outward and screamed, "CYNDAQUIL NOW!" Without even saying anything Cyndaquil knew what she wanted him to do. Honestly he was probably going to do it since it worked before, but now it not only had him but it also had Koru's fire behind it. He opened his mouth and with a large burst of his backflame he launched an impressive Ember at Lilipup. Whether it burned or not Cyndaquil wasn't going to be pushed down again. Lilipup was once again pushed off of him, but like the first round Koru noticed his flame looked more powerful. Why was this happening again? It was pretty cool but maybe she doesn't know as much about Cyndaquil as she thought?

The battle is officially over and the winners are.... Maria and her Lillipup. Here is breakdown what was judged: - Cyndaquil's Timid Nature decreases his Attack power, which in turn made Tackle less damaging against Lillipup's stellar defense - Lillipup is a well rounded Pokemon and has a nature (Docile) that doesn't increase or decrease her base stats - While Cyndaquil excels at Sp.Attack moves, Ember isn't quite powerful enough to really benefit from it. - As tactical as Cyndaquil's Smokescreen was, it didn't letup Lillipup's onslaught of powerful Physical attacks - While Blaze did give Cyndaquil's last ember a huge boost in power, it wasn't enough to catch up to Lillipup in terms of damage. - While Cyndaquil was able to get STAB from each Ember used, it only made the attack as strong as Lillipup's Bite and palled in comparison to a Tackle with STAB -- with a Blaze Ember combo being the only exception. - Had any one of Lillipup's attacks missed, Cyndaquil would have taken this battle. TL;DR: Lillipup is a little powerhouse that could have been thwarted if any of her attacks had missed their target As the winner, murruelecreuset, you can post Maria's final battle post to end the battle in any matter....Just don't go too crazy.
