The sun was bright and sharp and he wasn’t sure if he had ever seen such a bright day. Perhaps when he was a child such a day had existed when he was young and naive and the world was all friendship and fun. He wasn’t sure he had ever seen a brighter day though, the sun shone so brightly upon his pale hide and he had to close his eyes against its glare. Ultimately Grizzik decided that this was indeed the brightest day he had ever seen and something told him it wasn’t just because it was summer or that the sun was high in a peerless blue sky.

It was definitely to do with his new friend. Though his past had been rather sketchy and he had escaped from a world of pain and hurt, a past that still weighed heavy on his heart, recently he had been taken under someone’s wing. Which, to say the least, was a very strange feeling. He was taller than her after all, and stronger, at least physically, but she had taken it upon herself to become his rock. She had promised him things and like the child he was so long ago he had entirely believed her words.

The clawed stallion gave a deep sigh of relief as he opened his pale eyes and looked at the scene surrounding him, rolling fields and perfect blue skies, no fear in the voices of the herd, just hope, positivity and for the first time since the escape he felt that too and he knew instinctually it was because of her. Aspasia, she had turned his life around, she was making his life better every single day.

The feathered mare was having a fine time. It wasn't that she was traveling. It wasn't that she was integrating into a new herd. It wasn't that she was making new friends. It was all of these and more. Well the 'more' part was centered around one stallion in particular. He drew her in ways she wasn't certain she understood. Aspasia knew he'd had a rough life before escaping; now she wanted to make it better. The fact he didn't have any tonal qualities might have bothered some, but didn't matter to her.

She pranced back toward where she'd left the herd she was leading. The green female had gone out to scout the area and make sure she knew where she was and remembered it correctly. They were facing a rather large lake. As she'd recalled across it there was a nice meadow. They would stop and rest or at least get a decent meal inside them. Aspasia had been trying to ferret out what kind of territory the group would find ideal. It was hard when they didn't want to talk about where they'd come from or outright didn't trust her. Despite the trials, she kept an upbeat attitude. Sooner or later she'd come across something they'd like.

Reaching the lake she took off and headed across. Her wings pumping strongly and flashing bright green and gold in the sunlight. She'd be easy to spot for anyone bothering to look. Luckily, she knew there weren't many in the area, and no big herds.

The tan stallion almost took off to meet with the green mare as she came sailing over the lake, he resisted though standing as still as he could as she approached. It was becoming harder and harder for him to remain calm and composed around the mint green filly. She made him feel strange and excited every time she approached. He had to admit to himself, he was smitten, it was hard for him to say it out loud though, he'd never felt this way before, there had always been too much going on in his life for him to even think about such things. Aspasia made him think about it though, made him think about a future.

He settled his golden eyes on the females gliding form, where others would probably call out, Grizzik found it difficult to call loudly so he flexed his wings in a sort of wave, hoping to attract the females attention.

As she drew closer her searching eyes spotted what she was looking for. The tan stallion she'd grown rather fond of. She twitched her wings to land closer to him. Aspasia tried to tell herself that she'd be happy if any of the others were waiting for her, not just him. It was hard to fool herself. The mare was hoping he was developing the same feelings for her that she had for him. Not everyone was pleased about it though. Some of the more suspicious shadowseekers looked down upon it with disfavor. It was hard for them to trust her, but she hoped to prove herself in time.

She acknowledged his wave with a flip of her own wings as she came in to land. A flurry of feathers saw her safely to the ground not far from him. "Grizzik! How does it go? Did everyone get enough to eat?" She hoped nothing bad had happened while she'd been away, and he'd been assigned to bring her the bad news.
