Full Name: Nakura Daimyo Genryusai
Nickname: "The Raven"
Age: 25 (Soon to be 26)
Birthdate: November 30, 1991
Gender: Male
Height: 5'11
Weight: 158 Lbs
Notable Quote: "You wouldn't want to walk in my shoes."
Personality: Whew boy... I would like to just say that Nakura really is a good guy. He may not seem like it, but keep in mind he's been through a lot. He's very protective of the people he cares about, and in one day he lost the two people he wanted to protect most: his wife and child. So as you can imagine, there has been some series trauma. After that event, Nakura slipped and fell into an intense depression. He stopped caring for himself. Alcoholism became his way to cope, and cigarettes take the edge off. Nakura is rarely seen out in public, and if he is, its most likely just for more alcohol, cigarettes, and maybe some books from the school library. He's become paranoid and reclusive, so he keeps to himself; however, he doesn't actually enjoy being alone. He's afraid to be by himself, regardless of his current reclusive tendencies. There is a bunch of anger pent up inside of his head, and he has a tendency to lash out and explode. If someone tries to break through his shell and talk to him about his past, Nakura gets violently angry then goes quiet for a while. So... Yeah. He's got a pretty negative personality, but really. He's a good guy. He won't just ignore someone if they try and interact with him, but he won't seek out attention. Although is mind is clouded with depression and negativity, Nakura has a lot of pride for who he is and for his clan. One important thing to mention about Nakura's personality is that he sometimes is so out of his mind from drinking that he hallucinates and sees his dead wife. And during these times, she sometimes gives him advice on things he has been doing or is in the process of doing, which affects his next course of action.

▬▬▬▬▬▬┤|ABILITY • DATA|├▬
Master Umbrakinesis
- The Genryusai Clan is well known for their ability to manipulate their shadows using their Soul Wavelengths, and Nakura is no exeption. An intelligent Shadow Bender, Nakura has found creative ways to deal with his weaknesses and shortcomings involving Umbrakinesis. This ability is extremely susceptible to light. Too much and the ability is severely weakened, no light at all and there are no shadows to manipulate.
- Generalized Shadow Manipulation: Simply put, this is the gateway into the combat applications of Umbrakinesis, although it inherently has no combat applications. As the starting point for every shadow bender, generalized control entails the manipulation of a shape of a shadow, without changing the amount of shadow that one has access to. However, this can have psychological applications if used properly.
Advanced Shadow Manipulation: After advancing an umbrakinetic's ability to warp their shadow, they eventually learn how to lift the shadow off of the ground and give it a tangible form. This acts as a key, and when combined with the gateway of generalized control, a shadow bender can be a really creative combatant. The physical shadows are rock solid and can be interacted with the same as most physical objects. That includes being broken, blocked, touched, used for leverage, et cetera. These constructs do not include projectiles, due to the need for the shadows to stay connected to keep form.
Parasitic Shadow: A branch of Umbrakinesis that only Nakura possesses among the Genryusai clan, Nakura is able to extend his control over shadows beyond his own and take control of shadows created by soulless beings and objects, as long as the foreign shadows are in contact with his own.
Shading Genesis: Nakura is able to manipulate the size of his shadow to give himself access to a wider resource for his attacks.
Camouflage: Nakura is able to manipulate his shadow to form a thin veil over his body made of darkness, in order to blend into shaded areas and become virtually invisible.
Overdrive
- Nakura is able to push beyond his physical and spiritual limits for a maximum of 20 posts. During this time, he is faster, stronger, and more durable than normal. His umbrakinesis is also affected in that the shadows become much harder, and gain the ability to pierce metal. After this period of superhuman feats, he feels immensely fatigued and sluggish.
Soul Menace
- Nakura is able to perform and maintain a self resonance in order to perform Soul Menace in it's various forms.
Soul Deposit
- Nakura has developed the ability to manifest and condense his wavelength to form ammunition for projectile based weapons. This includes bullets, arrows, rocks (for slingshots) and many more. If a weapon fires projectiles, Nakura can create ammo for it. This ammo is, after all, made from soul wavelength, so instead of physical damage they deal damage to the soul directly. Each piece of ammo he makes can be interacted with in the same way a physical piece of ammunition would. Each use of this ability requires an energy cost proportionate to the size of the round he is making and how many.
Dominant Sensory Establishment
- In order to compensate for his partners desire to remain at a distance from the thick of battle, Nakura trained his senses to enhance them. He has eyes like a hawk, hearing like a bat, and a sense of smell like a Bloodhound. Of course, for the most part, these are hyperboles, but he is able to faintly hear sonar pulses.
Burst Speed
- Nakura is able to, for an instant, increase his movement speed to the point where he seems to teleport. He can only do this once every 5 posts. Do not get this confused with actual teleportation. He is just moving at an insanely fast rate of speed.
Telepathy
- Nakura is able to speak silently with his allies through mental communication. The channel through which they communicate can only be opened by physical contact and consent by the other parties. Once the channel is opened, communication can be made mentally until either party decides to close the channel.
- Empathy: Nakura is passively able to sense the emotions of people around him.
Bird's Eye: Nakura is able to open a special channel with one person at a time, without compromising any existing channels. This channel works only with someone who has access to a form of Soul Perception. This channel allows Nakura to receive a mental image of what the other is seeing while using Soul Perception. To be clear, Nakura isn't seeing it with his own eyes. Rather he is looking at what can best be described as a mental photograph of where the souls are through the other person's eyes.
Diamond Eyes
- In order to compensate for his weakness to darkness, Nakura developed the ability to concentrate his wavelength behind his eyes in order to produce a bright, iridescent light that extends for up to 10 feet forward in a completely dark space.
▬▬▬▬▬▬┤|PHYSICAL • ATTRIBUTES|├▬
Master Combatant
- Nakura has become a master at both armed and hand-to-hand combat,
due to his years spent at the DWMA. He excels more in arms, but can hold his own with many strong opponents if he has no access to a weapon.
Master Marksman
- Nakura is able to accurately pick a target, as well as hit his mark, from considerable distances away. He is able to naturally account for wind speeds,
gravity, obstacles, target movement, and other factors while lining up his shot. However, he is also very adept at learning how to include physical barriers in order to reach angles that should normally be impossible. By using a rock to ricochet his shot in a different direction, for example, he can hit around corners and behind cover.
Master Bowman
- Nakura has mastered the art of using a Bow and arrows for combat purposes. His skills are advanced enough that he can fire multiple arrows at once for various purposes. One of the most skillful shots that Nakura can fire is the split-shot, where he nocks two arrows in such a way that, when fired,
mid flight, the arrows collide and push each other off course in opposite directions in order to hit two separate targets.
Stealth
- Nakura is a master at using stealth to his advantage. He can move silently and hide himself so well that only a soul perception ability would be able to find him, the latter being a hyperbole, of course. This helps with finding new positions around a map in order to get the best angles to see the enemy.

Weapon Type: Compound Bow
- Weapon Range: Mid-Long range
Customized?: Light, black colored metal, to allow for a sturdy bow that can also be used to block incoming melee attacks if necessary, although that will come with slight damage to the bow. The draw weight of the bow is 100 lbs. Nakura's bow does not have a sight. He finds them distracting.
Weapon Type: Arrows
- Weapon Range: Mid-Long range
Customized?: Nakura designs and manufactures arrows that are made for unique purposes. Below are a list of arrows and their functions that stray from his usual arrows.
- Rubber Tip Arrow: An arrow made with a completely rubber tip,
dulled down to where it is non lethal. This arrow is for training purposes during sparring matches.
Shatter Arrow: An arrow whose head is made by piecing different fragments together with a very weak adhesive. This arrow is made so that the fragments break apart upon contact with a hard object, firing shrapnel in every direction (10 feet). Nakura only carries 2 of these arrows at a time.
Smoke Bomb Arrow: This arrow has a smoke bomb in place of the sharp tip. This arrow is made to fill the battlefield with a burst of smoke in order to obscure enemy vision temporarily. The smoke lasts for one post per person in the area. Nakura only carries one of these arrows at a time.
TBA: Nakura is still working on ideas for more arrows, and more will be added as the RP goes on (with crew permission, of course).
Weapon Type: Glock 17
- Weapon Range: Variable
Customized?: Rather than a bullet-loaded clip, Nakura's Glock is fitted with a special clip that allows him to use his Soul Deposit ability to fill said clip in order to fire soul-based rounds. The clip holds 30 soul-rounds at a time.
Nakura has also installed a switch above the safety that allows for him to switch between semi-automatic fire rate to fully automatic.

▬▬▬▬▬▬┤| HISTORY|├▬
Being the son of the head of a clan comes with a lot of expectations. Everyone assumes that the heir to the clan will weild prodigious natural talent, that they will grow to be the strongest amongst their kinsman. These expectations were accurate, but not for Nakura. Before Nakura was born, Decimo Genryusai had another son, Prima. He was everything that a father could have looked for in a son. Talented, handsome, charismatic, intelligent; the list goes on. Sadly, he passed away before Nakura was conceived, which is a complicated situation to explain, as there is no record of Nakura's mother anywhere.
The theory is that the Genryusai elders, being as traditional as they are, believed that having a second son was shameful and so they did what they could to hide information on the boy. Obviously they couldn't just keep Nakura hidden forever, so the next best thing would be to hide the woman who had birthed him. The clan was a shady bunch, after all. Mysteries and rumors were spread about the darkness within the Genryusai, and not all of them were false. There were numerous things about the clan that, although the general public would find them disturbing, Lord Death found charming and useful.
Decimo found a private tutor for Nakura to teach him for the first part of his life, the basics of reading and writing being branded into the young boys memory from an early age, leaving much more time to teach him about the clan and their culture. Nakura was able to take in the information presented to him, but memorizing it was not going very well. He wasn't having much luck with shadowplay either. The most he could do, even through the years it took before he would finish memorizing the history of his bloodline, was cause his shadow to wiggle a little bit. And a lot of that was from straining himself so hard he shook. Needless to say, in the shadow off his brother, may he rest in peace, Nakura was a disappointment to his father. This drove him towards a thirst for power and success that blossomed as he enrolled in the DWMA.
Nakura's years in the school were quite productive. In just his first month he had already established himself at the top of his class and had learned of ways to improve his wavelength in order to perform soul resonance with a weapon partner, and to perform a self resonance with his own soul. By the end of his first year he had met and partnered with a weapon that would accomodate his physical and spiritual weakness by allowing him to keep away from the thick of battle: a Bow. Her name was Ora.
Ora was, in order to avoid beating around the bush, a very beautiful girl. She was shy, but There were plenty of people who were jealous of Nakura for having her as his partner, but the two payed the onlookers little attention. It took them awhile to get in sync. Various little disagreements along the way prolonged their ability to resonate, but eventually, they got it. Ora never liked being in the thick of a fight. She was afraid that, being a weapon that wasn't meant to be up close in a fight, either herself or her meister would get injured easily and it would be her fault; Nakura adjusted easily to the range that she felt comfortable at and found that he was a natural marksman. The two went on plenty of missions where they made large contributions to their squad just because they had a much larger field of vision from where they positioned themselves. The duo became famous, known throughout the school as the Raven, with the moniker being attributed primarily to Nakura as the face of the pair.
The two became inseperable. They spent almost every minute they were awake together. Be they training, going out to eat, studying, or whatever else fit their fancy. Rumors spread that the two had been dating for a long while, but they never really developed mutual feelings towards each other until their third year at the DWMA. When they eventually became an item, Nakura had already fallen head over heels for Ora. She was his lifeline. Whenever things looked down in Nakura's life, she picked him back up and made everything okay again. Nakura had decided early on that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, desperate as that may sound.
With every yin theres a yang, as the saying goes, and the yang in this story came in the form of Nakura's father falling ill. Although the man wasn't the best father to his son, Nakura still felt torn up when news reached him of Decimo's passing. Partly over the death itself, but mostly because he knew it meant that Nakura would be promoted to the head of the Genryusai. He didn't feel as if he was strong enough to lead his kinsman, and so, with permission from Lord Death for himself and Ora to take a leave of absence from the school for a short while, Nakura poured himself over the archives in his family's home to learn techniques and resources that would help him to improve his umbrakinesis. With Ora's help, slowly he advanced his control over his shadow to the point where he could raise it off of the ground and give it shape. By the time they returned to the DWMA, it was clear that the two had both grown stronger over the short period they had been away.
Word spread through the grapevine of Nakura's status amongst his clan, information that Nakura carefully tried to keep a secret during his years at school. He didn't like the attention it would draw. The DMWA was abuzz with questions that begged for answers. They wanted to know what exactly he did at the top of the pyramid, what the Genryusai's relationship with Lord Death was, and if he was going to be leaving school to attend to the clan's needs full time. Nakura carefully avoided giving the masses the answers they craved, but everyone treated him as a celebrity nevertheless. It's a funny thing how wealth and power draws in would-be friends. If Nakura's name wasn't already known throughout the school, it was now. The attention he was getting made both him and Ora uncomfortable, so they begun laying low. They didn't do anything that would put them in the spotlight, took on solo missions, and eventually something else became the talk of the school.
After Ora and Nakura completed their last mission and Ora became a death scythe, the two graduated from the academy and began the rest of their lives. After the graduation ceremony, Nakura proposed to Ora, to which she happily accepted. Over the next few years, the two had their wedding on a beautiful fall evenning, then went on their honeymoon traveling across europe and some of asia. They settled in france for several months, where Nakura was given news that they were expecting a child. Life was perfect. The two returned to Death City and broke the news to Lord Death, who was elated. Nakura continued working for the deity while Ora, at Nakura's request, stayed home. He didn't want to risk harm to his wife or their child. She protested at first, but eventually she agreed it was a bad idea to put herself in danger.
Life in the city was progressing wonderfully. The two could not be any more in love than they already were. The doctor told them their child would be a boy, and Nakura and Ora quickly set out to find a name. But just as before, every yin has a yang.
There was an attack within the city from a dangerous band of demons, a threat that required immediate attention from anyone who was available. Nakura just so happened to be close to the area so he set out to help as much as he could. The battle raged for hours, neither side letting up. There were several casualties and even more injuries on the side of the DWMA, while the demons were more exhausted than they were hurt. Eventually, good prevailed and the demons were driven out of the city after destroying several blocks. Unbeknownst to Nakura, his house belonged to one of the destroyed blocks.
Everyone surrounded the meister as he was being checked out by the medical unit, and their faces said it all. He ran. Faster than he ever had. He tripped over rocks and debris, but he kept moving. He couldn't believe it. It couldn't be true. His wife had to be alive and well, their son had to be kicking inside her belly as the clocked ticked on. He stopped. Peering silently over the rubble of his demolished home. There was rain pouring, washing a pool of crimson out from under the rubble into view of the naked eye. As the others caught up to Nakura, he collapsed to his knees, gasping for breath between sobs. A body was found, crushed beyond recognition.
The funeral was held for both Ora and Ganymede, the name they had agreed upon for their son. Everyone who came could tell that Nakura was slipping. A heavy alcohol smell on his breathe suggested that he had spent the night before and most of the day drinking, something that he had sworn to never fall into. His mind was shot, the only thing he could think about was making himself feel numb. What are you supposed to do when the two most important people in your life are taken from you? He became hollow, with the only thing stopping him from bursting into a fit of simultaneous rage and sorrow was the funeral itself.
Lord Death gave Nakura some time off, time to grieve. Our story takes place after a few months of being on leave. The end of his vacation was left open, so long as he ends up feeling better.
