Adorning his newly polished armor the Tah stood waiting. Smaug had sent word out to his unit to meet him here outside of the caves of the tribe. He wanted to test the abilities of those who were assigned to his command. The Tah's first test was to see how fast they responded to their summons.

He'd begin to rank them based on who arrived first. That would be his starting base for this series of tests he had in mind for his recruits. Speed, Strength, intelligence and combat experience, the areas he would test his recruits.

Those who ended up refusing his summons he would have to visit personally, and show them who exactly there commander was. Loyalty to him and Shen it what he'd have to instill into these recruits.

He would get them into shape, to follow orders and nothing else, second guessing could cost them, and he could not have that. His tail flicked behind him as he impatiently waited for his troops to assemble.

User ImageChenglei made his way into the area. He had gotten there relatively early and decided to do a quit scouting route before the rest arrived. He had nothing else to do, after all. Besides, it did him some good to stretch out his new limbs.

He woke up in the city. New. All wonderment met with some slight confusion, but easily remedied with a few brief lessons in walking and talking to get on his paws and moving. A new vigor then rose within him. An eagerness to do more than just take a few measly steps.

Now, after a few days practice in the efforts of moving and learning the limits of his body, he got the summons. A summons in which he was even more so eager to answer. He could easily find his place. Easily establish himself as the proud fire tribe Tah he knew he was meant to become.

He strolled into Smaug's view not too long after the Tah sat in wait. Chenglei's own tail twitched as he approached and gave the supposed General a dip of his muzzle.

"General Smaug, I presume?" he started and pivoted his ears forward to focus on Smaug entirely. After confirming his assumption was correct, he sat and stretched a bit. "I'm Chenglei. I hope you haven't been waiting too long?"

He knew he wasn't late. No one else was here when he'd first arrived. The excitement of the day's activities had woken him up before the sun and he was more than ready to begin. Still, he was unsure just how long Smaug had been here waiting. He hoped it really wasn't too long at all. The last thing he wanted to do was upset his General... especially on the first day of training.

Longwei Feng heard the summons for Pyre Unit and from what he saw of his general, he barely blinked before rising and moving quickly to answer the summons. Longwei didn't want to be on the wrong side of Smaug. He was a powerful tah and very loyal to Lord Shen. Longwei would be lying if he said he followed Lord Shen and the general he served under out of pure loyalty. No, fear played some role in it too.

Longwei finally arrived at the caves and spotted General Smaug and another recruit. He came to a halt before General Smaug

"Longwei Feng reporting, General Smaug," he said respectfully and stood tall and at attention.

Momo Sango was busy cleaning her fur and making sure it shone with health and beauty when she heard the summons. When she awoke, she was approached by fire balam loyal to a Lord Shen and told she was to serve him. She was informed that she was to be a soldier under a General Smaug. Very well, she had thought.

Momo Sango arrived shortly after a Longwei Feng. She came up to him and gave him a sly look before addressing the General Smaug. A benefit to her for coming in and not having to figure it out. She gave the General a crafty look, as was her nature, and inclined her head.

"As summoned, General, Momo Sango, here as summoned," she practically purred.

Longwei eyed the nan that arrived. She seemed very confident or very full of her self. He became wary of her after the look she gave him and the even more crafty look she had when looking at the General. He guessed she was a newly awoken and that fear didn't make her come but what benefitted her. Longwei narrowed his eyes at her before returning his attention to the General.

User ImageTamu was in a rather good mood this morning. He had received his summons by the general and wasted no time in eagerly trotted off to answer the call. How exciting this all was! While Tamu hadn’t actually been there to see his new lord Shen overtake the Fire Tribe he had made certain he wasn’t going to miss out on any future events. As soon as he was capable the male signed on as a warrior.

His joy was near shamefully evident. Tamu padded along with a slight bounce in his step and his lips were pulled back to reveal a mouthful of shining teeth as he grinned. The pink male arrived and immediately looked at each individual already gathered in the area. His blue eyes scanning each of them carefully.

A brilliant blue Tah with a multicolour belly. A teal and gold pattern Tah with markings like that of a ferocious lizard-creature. A bright yellow Nan with soft pink markings and finally, the most threatening of the punch, the general. A deep crimson red Tah who was adorned in what looked to be new armor. How bold and powerful he seemed to be!

“Good morning General, comrades!” He greeted with a purr. “Not too late to the meeting am I?”

Despite having arrived really quickly Smaug felt their response time was slow. Too slow for his taste. If they had been attacked by opposing forces they would have lost the battle before it even began. They had to be quicker. Much quicker.

As they slowly trickled to the cave he had summoned them to and introduced themselves his tail twitched with mild annoyance. Smaug did not need to know their names as they had not yet to prove themselves to him. So he did not care who they were.

Only four of his troop had arrived in quite the 'timely' fashion, but where was the rest? It did not matter he had been silent long enough. It was time he taught his troops what it meant to serve under him.

"Yes, I am your General." he growled as it seemed everyone had asked the question so he responded to it. "From now on you should not speak until spoken to and your first and last words out of your maw should be 'Sir.' Do I make myself clear?" He questioned them raising his voice. He gave a brief moment to respond before he spoke again.

"Now all of you are lazy slow and pathetic. A turtle could have gotten here faster then all of you! Now we will do this again, but you will do it together. You are one balam, you eat together, sleep together and breath together. If one of you fails then you all fail and we will continue to do this until you've gotten it down. Do I make myself clear?" As he spoke he paced in front of his line of soldiers getting into each of their faces as he spoke. Mainly trying to intimate them.

Once more he paused waiting for them to respond before he gave them their next orders.

"Now go find a cave and this is were you will live together and when I summon you, you will get here faster than you all did this time. Dismissed!"

Even though he dismissed them, he would follow them to make sure they followed his orders. He would keep his watchful eyes upon them through the entire process and he would make himself known.

(I apologize for Smaug as he will begin to mold his troops along his beliefs, which will end up causing him to seem quite strict and never satisfied at first. )

Chenglei's ears rolled back slightly. Perhaps he shouldn't have scouted ahead like he had. Smaug seemed pretty cross and upset. He quickly began to think that adding in that he was here early - before everyone else - would likely turn a more sour gaze in his direction. Not just by his fellow soldiers, but by the general as well.

He bit back the comment and nodded, adding in a "Sir, Yes Sir!" each time it was required.

As the assignment was given, Chenglei began skimming back through his mind of his scouting trip earlier that morning. There were a few dark crevices... though none that screamed cave. Much less a cave that would be big enough to house all four of them... or more...

Sighing internally, he looked to his other companions and nodded to them, starting to lead the way out of the area once they had been dismissed.

Longwei had a sampling of what General Smaug was like the day their Lord Shen placed himself as leader over the fire tribe. And what he was hearing now just seemed to make it even more clear that General Smaug was not a tah to mess with or even suck up to. He was going to make his troops into a well oiled fighting machine no matter what. Despite their quickness to answer his summons, he belittled them and made them realize he wanted them to be faster. Feeling the heat of his breath and the breeze of his words made Longwei want to melt into a puddle of yellow-belliedness but he stood his ground and kept his mouth closed and eyes focused passed the General.

He too uttered, "Sir, yes Sir" when it was clearly what the General wanted to hear and continued to keep his maw clamped shut when not asked to speak.

Suddenly they where dismissed with orders to find a cave for all of them to live in and to do it together. Longwei observed the predominately blue tah who arrived first proceed to leave the General presence to do as told. He immediately hustled after the blue tah, knowing lingering would be detrimental to his health.

Momo Sango watched the General as he addressed the four of them. Four! How indeed pathetic and sad...especially for those not here. She could tell, before he started to speak, that he wasn't pleased by that at all. But oh what he said was indeed amusing to listen too. He certainly played the part of General very well. Sadly, his attempts to intimidate them fell short when it came to her. She looked at him rather placidly and said, "Sir, yes Sir," when it was expected.

In some time once Momo had become better know, she'd probably be seen as a psychopath or just plain insane. Death and violence did not bother her at all and some part of her was blood thirsty. She was very sad to find she had missed quite the show when Lord Shen came into power and those silly enough to have a go at him and his followers came to clash.

She must have spaced out because suddenly two of the tahs where leaving. General Smaug had said something about them finding a place to all live, sleep, and eat together. Momo frowned, she had to live with these three tahs and possibly more. She hoped it was a big enough cave and that they where not utter pigs. But she wasn't going to let that get her down as she bounded gleefully after the tahs, and right passed the tah with the golden reptile on his backside. She smirked at him and kept going.

As those of Pyre unit that had arrived to answer the summons of their general were scrutinized and given their training orders, a lone nan from Ballast unit wandered over to observe. She was curious to see what the general of Pyre would be like. And if any of her own unit would attend for extra training? Asuna had heard the general of Pyre unit was requesting the presence of his soldiers and from what she was able to gather, nothing was said to deter her own unit from attending as well. Still, she did not wish to step on anyone's paws. However the chance to learn something from the powerful tah she'd heard rumors about was equally worthwhile. Rumors had spoken of a tah that stepped forward to pledge his loyalty to Shen and fought that day in the chamber. Asuna had not been present to witness it all, but from everything she'd heard, she wanted to see this tah with her own eyes.

She sat daintily on a small rise in the land, watching from a respectful distance yet close enough to catch what the Pyre general said. His voice was certainly one that demanded attention. But what held her interest more was the task he set them. Finding a cave. Yet it was more than that, he expected them to be as one b'alam? Interesting. Was this what made a good soldier? Perhaps she would learn a thing or two from this tah, this General Smaug.

Oh dear. Seems the General was not in a very good mood this morning! That said Tamu did not wish to give his General any more reason to get any more aggravated. He snapped his jaw shut so he could not make a comment the General did not approve of. Otherwise he risked being booted from the troop before it truly really formed. And that would simply not do. The pink and black Tah played good soldier, ushering a loud “Sir, yes sir!” when Smaug paused to allow the troop to do such. He had washed the smile from his maw and in turn wore a small frown. He could not manage a full blown glare, for deep down Tamu still felt in a delighted, playful mood.

He turned slowly and did a short sprint to catch up to the other three members who were now marching ahead of him. His eyes danced between each of their pelts, memorizing their individual appearances. Though Tamu imagined now that they were supposively living together he’d soon enough become familiar with all of them. He picked up his pace and gaited towards the center of the group, his eyes not missing the Nan eyeing the group from the distance.

He focused on her for a bit. Was she apart of the troop? Tad too nervous to step down and join them? No.. She didn’t look like she was contemplating anything. Perhaps she was another General seeing if the recruits were any good or not.

Tamu allowed his grin to return as fixed his gaze back on the others, please that they had an audience. “Where shall we look first?” He asked them. “Any suggestions?”

He was still impatient as he watched his troops slowly go about their task. What could they not understand about going about their tasks quickly. Smaug's tail gave a flick behind him. They must be quick with their mind and body and currently they were all failing. In battle one must be able to act quickly to their attacker as well as be looking for a weakness or a drop in defense.

"Faster," he growled. Trying to get them to move faster. How was he suppose to get these lazy balam into shape if they did not seem to put forth the effort. The pure frustration in his voice was obvious and quite clear. "This is not a picnic, move those paws faster." How much clearer did he have to be to get them to understand that they needed to move quickly?

General Smaug thought he was being clear enough, but how they were moving nonchalantly about their task it seemed his message was not clear enough. If needed to he would snap at them with his tail blade, maybe then they would listen.

Chenglei felt as though he could roll his eyes. How was he supposed to go faster if the others were tailing behind? If they were to find a place together, it would be wise to let the others catch up before sprinting further ahead...

He kept his ideals of ignorance at bay and moved his paws a smidge faster, moving now in a bit more of a canter than a full on run.

"There were a few places not too far from here." he started, speaking loud enough for the few following behind him to hear. "We can scope them out as a group and determine which would be better suited for all of us."

But then something else dawned on him. "Is this all of our troop?" he then asked, pausing in his movements to glance behind at their small team. "Seems like there should be more of us..." he half grumbled, then resumed leading the way to one of the caves he had found

Longwei was already about done with the nonsense of this whole experience. He had a strong feeling that there was more members of the troop than this. They were not here and that'll be their own fault and pain but it put the group at a disadvantage, in the coming war, to be so small numbered. He sighed and was growing rather irritated with the tah who seemed to feel he needed to always be ahead and full of ideas. So far all the "cave" options seemed fine to Longwei. He didn't care where they had to live. He heaved a sigh and lowered his head and glared at Chenglei.

"I don't really care where or what cave is picked," Longwei finally spoke up, "Just pick a dang cave already."

Just then, the only nan (currently), strutted passed. There was something wrong with her, Longwei was sure about this.

Momo had sauntered passed the others and was finally keeping pace with the male who was "in the lead". He seemed to know several choice places they could call home as a troop. Every time he pointed one out, Momo bounced over and through the space, inspecting it diligently. To be obnoxious she had a problem with every one; too small, too big, too rocky, not enough rock, there needs to be some moss, it smells bad, what if this one collapses? But each complaint ended in a smirk as she walked passed the tahs and the end of her tail would flick in cheekiness.

Momo heard Chenglei grumble and she chirped up with, "Of course there is more of us."

(Skipping ahead in this)

Smaug had followed them curious to see if they could work together in finding a place. Claws clicked upon the hot stone below him as he waited for them to debate and bicker among themselves. His patience was wearing thin, how hard was it to find a cave for them to live in? Yes he had a lot of work ahead of him if he was to get these ones into shape. Every set of claws would be needed to defend his new found emperor and his lands.

Finally they had chosen a place to call home, took them long enough really. Arkenstone came skittering across the lava flow towards them. They had dilly dallied enough it was time to start training. "Alright Line up and Count off!" he called out in a demanding voice.

Chenglei was a bit distraught. It took them long enough to settle on a decent place. In all honesty, he was fine with sleeping under the stars if he had to. Of course, he didn't take much consideration into the fact that it might rain... Did it even rain in their lands? He supposed it would a time or two at least. There was some greens in the territory...

He sighed and moved out where their general had called them. He was swift to start the line, but unsure if he just needed to state his name? Or... give a number? Numbers seemed weird to him...

"Chenglei here, sir!" he called out, hoping it was enough.
