Brisa stood perched on two rocks, the afternoon sun high in the sky, staring down into the water. She'd wadded out into the water and stood on the large rocks in the middle. They'd traveled to the river a few nights ago and she wasn't ready to leave. The challenge of fishing kept her entertained and she loved the coolness of the water.

"Ok, all I have to do is pick out a fish," she said, and a true smile was spread across her face, her resting mean look disappeared in her concentration. She wiggled her rump in determination and launched herself into the water at her unknowing prey.

She emerged mostly victorious, the tail of a large fish in her mouth as it tried to wriggle itself away from her she looked shocked and tried to keep a hold on it. she continued to swim to shore pressing her teeth into the poor fish to keep her grip on it. She had promised fish and she was going to deliver.

The leopard watched her. Amazed that she was even going into the water. He had played within its watery depths because that was how he was. It was also his nature. Though watching her catch a fish was almost mesmerizing.

"You are the strangest lioness I have ever seen and I've observed your kind from afar." He had caught a few fish already and they were mostly eaten but he was still hungry. Also cautious of the water. The snakes that sometimes were lurking there were deadly. As well as possible crocodiles.

Brisa was of the opinion that there was nothing to fear in the water, maybe it was in her blood, or just the way she was raised. No one in her family feared the water and she found it interesting that some would. She was a heavy creature and would never go into terribly deep water for fear of drowning, but this wasn't anything too deep.

She spat her fish out chewing the bite in her mouth slowly before speaking, "Why from afar?" She mused aloud. She had not met many leopards so she supposed this was just another part of her adventure.

"I think I like that you call me strange,"
she laughed a musical laugh that didn't quite fit her appearance.

"Did a pretty lioness steal your heart so you avoid them now?" She joked and returned to eating the fish.

"I was taught to generally be wary of your kind. You are quite a tough bunch." He didn't want to tell her the real reason was that he had watched his mother be killed by a lion male when he was a cub. She had told him to climb the tree as she went to try and defend herself but was struck down. They had made no quarrel with him either but ever since then he was always careful.

The male chuckled a little at the strange lioness. Her company was actually pleasing and her laugh, it was amazing.

Maybe this lioness would steal his heart? At least for a time. He would eventually continue moving on by himself as he always did.

"If only." The male responded, almost a whisper.

"Oh, we're not all so tough," she smiled and tried to nonchalantly move a little closer to him. Brisa felt silly that she was for afraid of him before, a stranger in the dark. He was kind and interesting to spend time around. Most of her life she spent time around lions with a few leopons in the mix. "Some of of us can be pretty nice, whole prides of nice lions."

She tilted her head not quite hearing what he said at the end of speaking. "I'm not around leopards much." The gray female thought her companion was fairly silent and she wondered what he was thinking about. She felt she was goign most of the talking.

The male had just barely noticed that the other had moved closer. He was more focused on his prize of the catch of fish before him. Her presence was very calming for him despite the difference between them. PLus she was easy on the eyes so that helped greatly.

"I am at least glad you are not an attacking sort and more of a gentler lioness. Still there are those who would come to attack a leopard like myself. I am a rogue, a vagabond." Then he chuckled at her.

Pushing a fish close to her, "Well you may spend as much time with this leopard as you would like."

Brisa frowned, she'd been raised to be tough but also raised with reason, her mother's side of the family were the tough ones, father's side were the ones that lived in the Pridelands, they were softer, nicer to strangers than her mother's pride.

"I'll protect you from any tough lions out there," she said lightly, "Besides we're all alone." She looked around the river not seeing another creature.

"I've only been a rogue long enough to go from one pride to another, have you had many adventures, Mr. Vagabond?"

She took the fish happily, "Perhaps, I think you're the perfect leopard to spend time with."

What was the frown for? It was a question that was on the tip of his tongue but did not come out. If she wanted to tell him she'd do so and he did not want to pry more than he already was. He visibly gulped at the word alone. So many implications.

He had always been a rogue, from birth he had known nothing but being a nomad. Going from the plains, the jungle, and the rivers. "Thank you kind Brisa. I have gone on so many adventures." Giving her a grin as she took the fish he had pushed towards her. "I may look for a pride for myself one of these days. I'm not sure what I am looking for out here. Where will you go?"

Her eyes glittered at the mention of all of his adventures, how she longed for that, something exciting and outside of the ordinary, she supposed meeting him was outside of the ordinary, spending time with a stranger and someone of another species at that!

"Just an adventure, anywhere really, see something wondrous outside of what I actually know. I've only ever lived in the mountains and then in the Pridelands. I'd love to spend more time in the jungle, then maybe find the desert!" She looked more excited, squirming as she spoke about the fabulous things she hoped for. She hoped nothing stopped her or got in her way of her adventure, Brisa hoped for a future filled with discoveries.

"What types of areas have you been, what have been the best?" She wondered if his adventuring days were over as he spoke of settling.

"I have been to so many places. I just prefer to stay within the trees. Even near to any source of water. Let us adventure in the jungle then. This is a wondrous place." He was ready to head out, tummy filled with food they would be ready to go wherever. "If you'd like on our adventure I will teach you to swim better." He chuckled, "And catch food better."

He got up from where he was sitting and tugged his head in a direction, "Come let's head this way." And began his way towards the direction.
