So, he'd gotten the gist of what this all was about and, well, Dahl wasn't sure he was impressed. He'd decided to leave, knowing he was easily replaceable, and here it was the same, after all. The thought that he could make himself irreplaceable, some kind of useful asset, never came to him. He'd go through the motions. That was why he was here, in the gym. Chosen implied some sort of fighting and, beyond minimum self-defense, Dahl knew s**t. He was all self-taught, too, and the majority of it involved running away, quickly. He frowned and looked around. Softly, he padded up behind a girl - might as well get his a** handed to him by someone fun-looking. "You don't look too busy." He smiled charmingly, professional mask slipping into place. A note of amusement sounded in his voice. "It's a bit forward of me, but how would you like to take me into one of those rooms back there and knock me about?"

Alexandra preferred to do things alone, such as exploring her surroundings as her time at the Prytaneum passed. Often she could be found reading one of the many books that lined her patron's dorm or here, at the gym working out her pent up frustration as well keeping up on her training as she could.
She, like many, knew that combat was eventually expected of them and well -
It was her job.
If she didn't keep up on it, she'd get her a** kicked in the ring and that wouldn't be acceptable, by her standards or her company's. Alex wanted to maintain the peak physical condition from her frame so, like clockwork, she was wrapping her hands when someone approached her. She was vaguely aware of him coming up behind her and her head turned slightly when he started speaking.
Alex turned on her heel, tucking the last bandage in and regarded him cooly with sharp blue eyes. "If you're propositioning me, I'm not interested." The offer had been worded strangely in her opinion and the woman couldn't be sure if it was an offer for sparring or if he thought she would be interested in something else. "Otherwise, I need to know what type of fighting experience you have."

"Did it sound like I was? Hm." (It had sounded like that.) But Dahl didn't take on non-paying clients, even if he joked about it. He tucked his thumbs into his pockets and slowly looked Alex over. "None," he said plainly. "Excepting a tussle here and there, knife fights." Dahl shrugged and wished he had brought along less expensive clothing. It would probably get ruined. His eyes drifted down to her hands, wrapped in cloth. "I assume you have more."

"You did." Her response was clipped and short but she didn't seem offended. It was hard to tell with Alex when her expression was stoic and flat.
The woman cocked her head slightly as she listened to his minor experience and she sighed in response, shoulders rolling back to loosen the tension between her shoulder blades a little more. "I fight professionally," she replied, following his gaze to her wrapped hands before blue eyes lifted.
"Do you know how to make a proper fist? How to block at all?" She needed to know what to expect. "We can spar and I'll teach you a few things but I don't pull punches during training." Or in actual fights either. What was the point in holding back if someone in the real world wasn't going to.

"Proper fist, yes. Block, sort of." Dahl shrugged. "I don't need you to pull punches. You don't learn anything from pulled punches." Without looking too hard, Dahl plucked up a knife from where some less-careful chosen had left it on the first row of the bleachers. It would do, unless Alex wanted it fists only. "You willing to take on an inexperienced kitten like me?" nuxaz aldjhs I didn't see the notification, I am so sorry!

Alex examined him, arms folding across her chest and her posture matching the frown on her face - stiff and unyielding. "Good," she said sharply, watching as he picked up a knife with little care and then, shook her head in response.
"If you don't know the first thing about a fight, we're not bringing in weapons. When you can pin me, then I'll consider moving from fist fights to knife fights." Alex didn't mess around, didn't allow danger to be added for the sake of danger.
If Dahl wanted to learn, he'd start from the bottom up. "Put it down and follow me," she instructed, striding toward one of the private practice rooms.

"Fine, fine." Dahl didn't think a background in hand to hand was required for every type of fighting, but he was willing to go along blithely for now. "Thought we were supposed to predominantly practice with weapons, though." Still, he followed her.
