█ BACKGROUND
It's possible to slip out of a holding cell in the middle of the night if you're small enough and can turn into an even smaller creature--not easy, but it's surely not impossible. If you're skeptical, Skye Addison is living proof. Believe it or not, he was once a slave rather than a fit master mistress. In fact, Skye used to not even be Skye--as strange as that sounds. He used to be Andrew, Andrew Carlisle, and he'd been born into the slave division as the twin to a rather obstinate young lycan.
He had a childhood that started out with understanding parents and an indifferent but loving brother, and ended up with him fending for his life on the streets and hiding in every little nook and cranny of it's alleys that he could sniff out. The boy had a strong nose and a knack for hiding, always did. The problem with such a strong transition between a loving family and the harsh streets and the fact that you no longer get to be a kid and grow-up slowly like all the other kids. You have to grow up, and you better do it soon before it's too late. Luckily for Andrew, he was a quick learner and figured out how things went, where to go and not to go, what to touch and not to touch, and how to get away with getting the necessities even if he shouldn't have them. It was an entirely different world from what he'd been born into--chaotic, stressful, nothing like what he'd hoped. He just wanted his freedom, but he wasn't taught the ideology that freedom isn't free. He had to learn the hard way.
At just a young thing--still considered a teenager--he'd been learning just how much harder it was to hide when your body was bigger. It didn't help that he wasn't even hiding in the safe part of town. To keep the feds as far from him as possible, he hid in the slums--a horrible mistake for someone so young and still considered illegal. Skye wouldn't want to go into too many details on it, but he feels somewhat fortunate that the gang member that ran into him one dark night didn't actually take him in to the rest of the gang. This man was rather possessive, it seemed, and wanted the boy all to himself. So he hid the young lycan in his home where he brutally ravaged his body in ways someone of that age shouldn't have to experience. It was mentally traumatizing and filled him with shame, making him doubt himself as if it was all entirely his fault for getting caught in the first place. He was lucky to be let go of, but not with his dignity in-tact. It had been shattered, and for months, he went on hating himself.
Before this incident, Skye truly believed that love was something beautiful and powerful because it held his parents together despite the lack of respect or care they ever got in the slaver's division. He wasn't even aware that they'd died, but he held onto the idea that love could trump such tragic circumstances--that was, until his innocence was stolen from him. Love wasn't there to save him, no matter how hard he'd held it in his heart. It did nothing for him, and he was quick to let that go. He may have loved his brother and parents, but the love his parents shared wasn't something that could save lives or happiness when the light in someone's world was this dim. He could see that, and he never wanted to acknowledge that foolish thought again.
Fully recovering or healing wasn't something he or anyone is really able of doing in such a situation. He simply had to put on the persona that he'd moved on and that he'd accepted it was all good since that's all he had to deal with. Of course by this time, he'd already managed to scrape and dig the chip out of his arm, leaving an ugly scarring gash where the chip used to be. However the man who'd left him without his innocence also left animal-sized claw-marks across his abdomen as if marking his spot in more ways than one. His abdomen and arm were things he always chose to hide the most out of shame and self-loathing.
Around the age of 19, something in him moved to seek out a change. Skye was tired of simply living on the streets and trying to fend and ponder whatever money or food he could get. There had to be a better way to do things than this. He didn't have a lot of close friends, but he did have at least one friend that managed to help set him up with a job at a local bar and night club that was very popular, telling him about how his nimble body was perfect for this specific job. Of course, the job itself was supposed to be a surprise. The young man was taught to walk in heels more proficiently and even dance in them. His skill set for make-up and outfits was improved. All for the sake of getting this job down. The job was pole dancing as a drag queen. Most would take that as a strange thing to do and not something a lot were into, but Skye had large crowds of men that cheered him on and the job itself really boosted his self-esteem a bit because he felt desirable in some sense.
This very same friend knew of his predicament and told him about the one they called "The Patron Saint of Lost Causes" hopefully being able to help him. The title was a bit intimidating to Skye, and he didn't really want to think of himself as a "lost cause", but when the other male explained what this guy did, it made him a bit more at-east about the whole thing and they decided to seek him out. Skye's close friend held his hand through it--literally. He wasn't as difficult or intimidating as some rumors made him out to be either. The man known as Julian was actually quite easy to talk to.
With his friend to back him up on his good intentions, he was able to pass through the process of getting all his forgeries in-line and checked. This is where he truly went from being the illegal slave known as "Andrew Carlisle" to the master known as "Skye Addison". When they said, "Freedom doesn't come free," Skye took that to heart. He didn't see it as a purchase or an expense to pay but as hard work and something to be earned rather than given. Having a new-found sense of identity, his confidence for his job and his lifestyle sky-rocketed--or rather "Skye"-rocketed. The man hooked himself up with a messenger that he paid well using some of the salary he got from his job to help send letters back and forth to his twin brother, talking about their lives and how they were both holding up, without anyone else ever knowing. Secrecy in this process was vital to both their safety when it came to the feds tracking their contact. Therefore, Skye couldn't simply use the post office to send letters, and he didn't have the funds for a computer himself, nor was he sure if his brother had that kind of access. However, pen and ink always felt the most honest to him. He got to learn so many things and hear so many secrets that he would never dare tell meanwhile only slipping some things that were more gentle about his life to his twin and leaving out the traumatizing parts. He didn't want to soil the poor thing's belief that love was still possible even for slaves, despite how much he loathed most people.
Skye grew enough influence that he could easily get people into the job that he had if he so wished to or if they wanted and made friends well with his easily admirable outer demeanor and ability to pick-up on feelings that others didn't project on the surface through his instincts. Some would've said that he would make a great therapist or something like that, but he just never really had the patience and enjoyed dancing and moving too much to sit in a chair for that long. Plus that required schooling and things he couldn't afford or tried to afford for that matter. He was content with how things were--possibly a little lonely, but he'd never let that show.
█ ABILITIES

█ EXTRA
-- Skye Addison is secretly the twin brother to Alexander Carlisle. However they lost touch when they were younger and had to sneak letters back and forth.
-- He considers Julian to be one of his few good friends and someone to confide in because his trust levels for darker subjects aren't that high.
-- In reality, his trust levels are very flaky. It takes a good approach to get to what's underneath this mask that most wouldn't even know existed. His whole appearance of confidence and need for physical attention and attraction is just a coping mechanism/ruse to for a very effective mask.
