The sun was starting to set, which meant that it was beginning to cool off just enough for the people to come out in droves. Young and old, alone and in groups, with one thing in common--they were all looking down at phones, walking quickly, and occasionally stopping to swipe at the screen a few times. Occasionally, someone would cheer, or another would complain about a server crash, and then there'd be the cry of "Oh s**t, Dratini!" and entire sections of the group would swerve, scouring about for their prize. Pokemon Go had found it's way to Ashdown, and it had hit hard. Gwen was standing across from Darlene's, waiting for the light to change as she scoured intently at her screen, poking impatiently at a stalled animation. "Okay, but I -know- I saw Cubone around here somewhere..." she muttered under her breath, glancing up to see if anyone else was moving in a particular direction. She considered herself a casual player at only level 16, but knew enough about the game to follow the crowds.

"Cubone over here!!" A slightly familiar call came from around the side of the building and a heavily tattooed woman in a large brimmed summer hat and overly huge sunglasses was standing by the dumpster trying to get the perfect selfie with thin air. "Cheese you little mom-skull wearing creeper!" Wendy peace signed and snapped before spinning around to try and catch it. "TEAM INSTINCT~" She hooted. The radio host was having a hard time, even with a slightly high level, keeping any gyms due to the massive amount of people playing but she was doing a damn good job of collecting. azuredreams cid your spouse has the ability to not sleep for 24 hours and she's loose

"Uncle Hux! I caught another weedle!" Attie was ecstatic, his youthful face had broke out into a bright grin as he displayed the screen of his mother's cellphone towards the giant man he'd called uncle. Hux squinted down at him with a frown, his hair was a plait down his back but he was still hot and uncomfortable. "Yeah," he said. "alright." Atticus looked downfallen and Keighley Keighley- the oldest of the three of his sister's children- whipped a look at her uncle, fingers still hovering over the text message she'd been about to send. "He means that's great, Attie." She said. "You've got three kakuna, right? You'll get those beedrills in no time." She wasn't usually so kind to her younger siblings and she didn't particularly care for the game or the show, but Hux's apathy had forced her to lose the facade of grumpy almost-teen. Atticus still looked let-down. He turned with his shoulders hunched to march towards the next bug pokemon he could find, face shadowed beneath the lip of his hat- which just so happened to be an exact replica of Ash Ketchum's. The trio moved down the sidewalk until Atticus paused to stare at the building that was Darlene's. "This is a gym!!" He yelled, in awe. He'd only just started playing the game, but he'd already chosen his team- Mystic. He turned his head towards his uncle- eyes hopeful. "Can we eat here, Uncle Hux?" Hux sighed and shrugged. He eyed the building for a moment, letting Atticus wallow in suspense. Then he answered. "I guess." He said, as he moved towards the entrance and pushed it open, allowing the kids to enter first.

Between being a pokemon hotspot and the summer tourism, Darlene's was steadily busy. Behind the bar was Borr, the owner, his staff having gotten him into a much too tight t-shirt (again) in honor of the current popular game and the bar's specials. Booths lined the windowed walls and tables spotted the floor. A few wait staff milled about carrying drinks and delicious smelling food from the kitchen. "Seat yourself anywhere!" The bearded man waved an arm to the new customers. Two large dogs seemed to wag excitedly from dog beds but were being polite and not charging at the new man and the children who had walked in.

Something had succeeded in luring Isobel out of the house and that something was Pokémon Go - everywhere you looked there was something about the game and everyone was talking about it, so she'd figured she might as well check it out. Also she wasn't gonna lie, Pokémons were surprisingly cute. It hadn't really been something that'd interested her in the past, but now that it was on a platform she had access to, she was starting to see the attraction - plus it got her out of the house, something her mum was grateful for. So far she reckoned she'd been doing very well; already she had a small army of squirtles, rattatas and eevees and she'd found a few pokestops - all in all, enough to get her to level 5. Which was where her current trouble lay. "Excuse me..." She gathered up her courage, moving closer to the loud lady with the tattoos. "I'm, åh, about the teams -" She stalled and fidgeted uncomfortably with her phone, eyes moving from the screen and back up to the lady with the large hat. "The teams, do they make a difference? Only I just hit level 5 and I'm not sure which one to pick, I mean, do I just go for the nicest colour or is this like a life-or-death choice?" The words had come out slightly too loud when they'd finally come and Tibbie bit her lip, looking worried that she'd messed up somehow. Wendy glanced up from her phone with a wry smile, "Well obviously you want to pick the best team." There was a pause, a smile on her face, but she relented, "So you see the gym on your map?" She sidled up next to the stranger and pointed at the spire spinning with color, "You pick which team you want to be on and then try to claim gyms for them. Like... a pokemon turf war. When you fight at your own team gyms, it gains them points, when you fight other color gyms it takes their points away and eventually kicks them from the gym so you can claim it." She grinned, "I'm Team Instinct- Yellow."

Gwen's eyes blinked at the sound of a familiar voice, and looked up to see an even more familiar face. Wendy Drummond, radio personality and morning host, personal hero of Gwen's and long-time correspondent, was out playing Pokemon Go, and she'd found the missing Cubone. It took everything for Gwen to not screech in joy. She jogged over to the group and did everything in her power not to wiggle too much as the Cubone buzzed on screen, and kept her game face strong through the actual capture of the virtual creature though. However, any attempts at keeping a cool veneer began to crack the moment she looked up at the woman. "T--thanks," she squeaked, her face beginning to flush a splotchy shade of pink. Her mind ran in circles, thinking of something, anything to say, but thankfully she was rescued by a newcomer, someone who wasn't so clearly incapacitated by the presence of a celebrity. "Oh! You pick whichever one is your favorite color, or your favorite legendary bird, or whoever you have friends on," Gwen nodded to Isobel, her curls bouncing in turn. "Team Valor is about passion and strength, Team Mystic is about intellect and wisdom, and Team Instinct is about intuition and faith." She almost began with why Mystic was the best team, but looked back to Wendy, considering. "It's...really up to you. All of the teams have cool people on them."

Isobel gave the other two a shy but grateful smile, "thanks, that makes a lot of sense! I think..." She thought for a moment before nodding, "I think Instinct sounds more like my thing. Besides, yellow is a happy colour! Only this is quite mustard yellow and I think I'd prefer something a bit more pastel. But I guess I can always imagine it pastel!" A few quick swipes and she held up her phone to show the other two that she was now a member of Team Instinct, proud smile included. "So this is a gym right? Or really nearby..." Checking her phone, she said hesitantly, "'Darlene's'? Should we battle for it? Åh! Are we even on the same team?" Worried, she looked to Gwen, "I mean I know we are -" she gestured between Wendy and herself, "but are you also yel-, ah, that is, Instinct?" It'd be nice if she was, so they could all three team up. Although maybe they wouldn't want to - she had just met them, after all, but they seemed so nice... She'd hold out hope for now.

"Gweeeen!" Wendy finger gunned the younger girl and grinned as she descended on her to give the her a squeezing hug. She may have gotten unintentional boob to the face, "Expert on all the things!" "I just like the outline looks like a hot guy," The dark haired woman chuckled, "My boyfriend is on blue. maybe I'm being contrary.. Red and Blue seem to feud like crazy though. What team are you on Gwen??" Yes they were still standing in an alley by a dumpster. Cause they were classy women. "Oh what's your name?" She nodded to the other woman, "I'm Wendy."

Wendy went for the hug and Gwen froze, any thought running through her head coming to a screeching halt. Wendy Drummond was giving her a hug. Wendy Drummond had just unintentionally rubbed Wendy Drummond boob on one of her cheeks. Gwen would have wept tears of joy, but nothing in her body seemed to work anymore. "Ahh..aahb..." she blinked, trying to regain composure as the hug ended. She glanced down at her phone, as if she needed the guide to remember what they were talking about. "I'm uhhh...Team Mystic, because it seemed like me," she admitted sheepishly, looking away from Wendy's gaze. "But Instinct is really cool, too! I'm more of a collector than a fighter anyways." Unless they were talking about the gas station gym about a block away from her house, which she'd been furiously feuding for control for days. But they didn't need to know that.

She smiled nervously while the other two women hugged, one hand fidgeting with the strap of her bag and the fingers of the other one tapping the screen on her phone absentmindedly. Was she in the way? There was a distinctive sense of shared camaraderie between the other two and her insecurities were telling her that she was a third wheel here. But - they were still including her in the conversation. "Collecting is eminently neat! What's your favourites so far?" Her smile was a megaton watts, relieved and happy that they hadn't told her to bugger off. "My name is Isobel - but my family calls me Tibbie," you can too hung in the air as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other. "I've never played any Pokémon stuff before but this game is really cool. Have either of you got any rares so far? If there's rares. There's rares, right?"

"Cid's on blue too," Wendy shook her head and tutted, "Though he is organizing some sort of raiding party for blue team this weekend. You want me to get you the info?" Everyone who listened to her or followed her instagram knew that Cid, only previously rumored to be (but recently confirmed to be) Wendy's boyfriend, was the owner of The 4th Wall comic shop and town uber geek. "Tibbie's awesome," Wendy gave an approving nod and smirk, but before she answered about rares she paused, "Oh oh.. c'mon- Poke-selfie." Wendy was offering her arms out to mash both young women into a photo before she duck lipped.

If Wendy was the local celebrity heartthrob, then Cid was a close second, being both a common reference on the show and the owner of a classic Gwen hangout. Her eyes widened at the tantalizing possibility, and meekly she nodded, as if granted the invitation from C'thulhu himself. "That'd be awesome," she said with enthused reverence, pulling herself in for the selfie. Before she made a face, she leaned forward to smile at Tibbie, giving a small wave. "I'm Gwen, by the way." And then with a laugh she was puffing up her cheeks and tilting her head back, playing it more grotesque than cute for their photo.

"Thank you!" As the older woman offered a group selfie, Tibbie moved closer to Wendy, settling in at her side. How close was too close? She didn't know and left a small gap just in case. "Nice to meet you - both of you!" She leaned forward to return Gwen's smile, before following the others' lead and posing for the selfie. Only she'd never quite taken any before, so her pose was a shy smile with accompanying blush and a hand held up in a static wave.
