Here they were, stalking some prey. Despite her blindness she had been able to keep up mostly with the male. Although there were a few times she lagged behind but all in all she was quite proud of herself. They had tracked a herd of zebra. She absolutely did not want to feel like a hindrance to Themba so she worked her tail off to not be.
She sniffed the air, the wind in their favor currently. "I can startle them." The blind lioness could chase them and he could pick out a good one. After that she'd be a bit more help to keep it tired as long as she could hear and smell it. "If you want to pick one and begin to steer it away from the group."

Themba tried to concentrate on keeping his stomach from crying out. Those zebra looked SO good right now… He swallowed to make sure he didn’t drool. Unfortunately his stomach was distracting him a bit so it took him a little while to here what his companion was saying.
“… Yeah, sounds like a good idea.” He didn’t exactly know if Eryxa would be able to help him take down the zebra. Perhaps she would be able to, he had heard that the other senses were heightened when you couldn’t use one of them for a while. “I’ll try to get one that’s close to us, that way it will be easier to take down and we won’t have to go as far.” He replied, glad that she had thought of a plan.
“I’ll be hiding in the brush over there, if I startle them first I apologize.” He said, trying to add a little humor into the situation. He didn’t plan on failing though, he was too hungry.

She could tell he was highly distracted just by how far away his voice sounded to her. At least she had a plan and could more than likely follow through with it. When she heard him moved the female stopped focusing on him and started to let her ears begin listening for the herd and what they were up to.
As soon as she felt ready the female leapt from where she was and began taking off towards the herd. They scattered, a few of of them making a laughing braying sound that she liked to hear so much. The thunderous sound of their hooves would did not startle her but made her roar out at them.
"Now!" The female yelled, starting to weave to what she noticed was a weaker Zebra. She could sense that it was lagging behind the others.

Themba lay low in the brush as Eryxa leapt towards the herd. A few moments later he was up and chasing after the zebras too. He heard her call and saw that one of the zebras was lagging a bit behind. Perfect. And it was an adult one too.
Going even faster Themba managed to catch up to the zebra, the rest of the herd now pulling away, and jumped upon it, teeth aimed for it’s neck. It put up a bit of a fight as it was knocked down though, so he had to watch out for any hooves that may be coming his way.
It was harder to kill large prey, it was harder to grip their necks but prey was prey. The zebra was still struggling a bit as Themba clamped down harder on its’ neck, but eventually it stopped moving.
He let out a sigh when he removed his mouth. That wasn’t too hard. He thought to himself as he tried to decide what part he wanted to eat first. Though perhaps he should wait for Eryxa. Maybe she had a favorite part.

She could hear the animal taking its last few breaths as she pulled herself up next to the pair. "Teamwork." She chuckled. Though she hadn't done much in the way of bringing down the kill. She could have but why not give the male more of a chance to get his energy out.
"Go on, you're much hungrier than I am plus you landed the killing blow." She stated. It was only fair to let the male eat first since she had heard his stomach rumbling like a thunderstorm.

Themba smiled at her. “Thanks.” He really couldn’t believe how nice she was being, though perhaps she just felt a bit sorry for him and his empty stomach. He took a few big bites out of the zebra and groaned in happiness.
He looked over at his hunting companion. “You can eat too if you want. You helped me quite a bit too, you spotted the best one to catch.” She really had. “And besides, it was fun hunting with someone else after a while doing it myself.” He hadn’t really ever done it with his siblings but he had tried helping his parents a couple of times and knew he had fun with it then.

Oh she was going to eat. Just wanted him to take a few bites before she took took a large chunk of the belly. Quietly munching on the kill they had worked to get. "I wouldn't say I spotted the best one." She chuckled. "I mean its vibrations felt good. You were overall the one to spot it and snag it." She grinned at the other. Her muzzle was red with the blood of the kill. Maybe it was adorable looking but she wasn't able to tell. "I also have not hunted with someone in a while. It is nice to not have to work as hard." She chuckled knowing that he'd understand her struggle of trying to get food. It wasn't that she had extreme amount of trouble getting her food, but every so often one would escape from her.

He shrugged one of his shoulders. “Sure you did! It’s nice and big and has a lot of meat on it.” Eryxa had been great company so far. He wouldn’t mind being with her a bit longer if he could. “But we both worked at it and managed to get it, that’s the greatest part of all of this.” The result of good teamwork. He could get used to this.
He took another bite and looked back at her. “We could hang out for a while longer, help each other out you know? You scaring and me snagging or something. At least we would be more likely to keep ourselves full.”

The thought was sure enticing as it crashed around her thoughts and he was quite pleasing to her. At least his company was. He could be hideous. Not that her vibrations told her as such. Plus, to boot, he had a kind sort of soul. "Why not." She said. "I like this thing we have going on." Knowing full well that she was going to be traveling longer, looking for a place to call her own so that she was not out here by herself. Not that she was going to impose on him to follow her around forever unless that was what he wanted. "I can scare up some more meals. I can also help you by jumping on their backs and trying to pull them down while you go for their throats."
A deep seated friendship. That was always something another needed. Even if they ended up going their separate ways, they'd hopefully still have this bond between them.

Themba was glad that he had made his first real friend. Hopefully they would be staying in each other’s company for a while and even if they did move on, maybe they could meet again someday? It would be nice at least to be able to talk to someone about past memories together, he missed doing that with his siblings.
“Sounds good then! We’ll be quite the team! And that sounds good, it will be a lot easier to take down prey with two lions than just me trying to get at their necks.” He chuckled a bit. He was remember the few times he had, quite spectacularly, managed to completely miss the neck of his prey and the subsequent running away that followed that action by a now ready-to-attack prey. Yeah, hunting with two was a lot better than hunting with one. “Well, can’t wait to see how this goes then.”DavyJnah All right I think that's good for a last post if you want to count this as completed.
