Observation Stands

All around the perimeter of the arena are several tiers of raised stands, from which hundreds or even thousands of people can watch any battle happening down below. A fence at the base of the stands prevents onlookers from falling, or leaping, to the arena floor, though this has historically not stopped some particularly determined individuals from joining the battle. While there are guards in the stands, they only prevent individuals from crossing the fence during official tournaments, as entering the arena in this way is seen as condemning oneself to the life of a gladiator. Even if a climber should survive the battle, they will be stripped of belongings and sent to the Pit.
