Caleb McCloud was brought here for a reason. And although he wasn't entirely clear exactly what that reason was just yet, he assumed it had something to do with his military background and skills in combat. After all, this place had a full armory complete with practice dummies. As he toured through the armory, his attention was caught by one object in particular: the bigass sword.
Sure, there were all sorts of weapons at his disposable, but come on, it's a bigass sword. Of course he is going to go for it.
He pulled it forth but was a bit startled by its weight - he'd need two hands to carry it. Olivia had told him as much earlier, but his ego ignored that advice at first. A great sword she called it. Badass is what he'd call it.
Not considering himself a beginner but also using a bigass sword for the first time, he sought out an Intermediate Dummy to wreak havoc on. He moved towards the dummy and gave it a clumsy swing - he had a bit to get used to.

<********> He was told that the intermediate dummies would strike back, but he didn't expect to be shot at with a bolt and with such precision. It didn't hurt too bad - he's taken a bullet, he could take a stupid bolt - but it was unexpected. It only fueled his rage as he took another swing.

******** yeah! That was more like it. The jackass grinned as he took another step back - and took another bolt to his shoulder. Goddamn, same spot, too. The sword wasn't easy to swing and took a moment to built up some momentum, but he charged forward once more.

...and he just stumbled forward in a total miss, only to turn around and get struck once again in the same spot by the machine. What was the deal with this thing's accuracy?
"Piece of s**t dummy," he growled as he swung again.

Another miss. This time Caleb didn't turn around just yet, waiting for the bolt to strike him, but nothing. Did it think he gave up? Please. He's no quitter.
He turned around - only to be struck again, ******** damnit - and swung the bigass sword in a large arc in front of him.

At least this time it was a hit. At this point, he didn't even feel the bolts as he rose the sword to swing again...albeit with poor aim.

Caleb began to spin the blade in a circle, twirling around and slowly stepping towards the dummy. It looked ridiculous and was undeniably reckless, but he was bound to hit eventually like this...

Figuring that technique worked, he began trying it again, hoping for more speed and momentum as he created the whirlwind.

Caleb grinned as he saw the dummy really start to break under the power of his swing. He charged up his strength and swung once more towards its base.

As the practice dummy fell to the ground, defeated, Caleb rose the greatsword pointed up in the air in victory before slamming it down, staking the dummy into the ground with the blade. He said no words, only smiling down at the thing before hardening up and walking away - proud, but silent.
