After having met Sailor Cetus a few times, and learning that the other spoke Korean, Seung had tried to find a way to reach out to him without going through other people. He didn’t want to involve others, to bring people into his personal business. It hadn’t been easy, which was putting it mildly, who could guess it would be that hard to find a single senshi? It wasn’t like everyone in the city had a powered alternate life, just a select group of people. It had been hard though but it had paid off.
He knew he had decided to not power up unless it was to go to his wonder, something he’d decided after a talk, if one wish to call it that, with Torin. He considered it more of a scolding, one which left an impact on him, but he’d been out late at night heading home from Gong Cha when he’d seen the senshi moving across building roof tops. He’d wondered how he’d done that, remembering the other wore wooden geta rather than normal shoes, and after ducking into an alley and setting his drink down he’d powered up.
Drink in hand he’d followed after the senshi till he was able to catch up to him and the two could talk. The other was from here, born and raised, but the culture they’d both grown up in was similar in some ways. The language was different but he sought to learn Chinese in return for having someone to speak to who spoke his own language - it was comforting.
That had been a month ago and they had been spending time together as civilians. When he wasn’t at work or busy with anything else, including his time with Terry, he would spend time with Fai. Some of the time was spent eating and talking, working on his Chinese as they spoke in a mix of languages, or it was spent with him watching the other during his Kung Fu practice. Sometimes Fai would come to where he was learning Hopkido and watch, give pointers at the end. The two males got along and Fai didn’t mind being close and cuddly at times with the other, something which was a new development in their friendship.
Tonight they were to spend time together, he’d texted the other earlier to confirm that he had the evening free. He had gotten off work and dropped by his home, greeting his parents as he made his way toward his room, he changed into some normal clothing and after switching his things into a nicer looking shoulder bag, his phone, ipod, and epi pens going into the bag he headed out. Letting his parents know as he closed the door behind himself and locked it. His cousin was either home, or out, he didn’t know and hadn’t asked as she was doing well in this city - she had friends.
He was glad she had friends, his sister hadn’t made any and had thus decided to move back home, he would be rather lonely and upset if his cousin were to up and leave as well. He was glad for her remaining here in Destiny City with him.
Taking a bus to the downtown meetup spot Seung went to take a seat, toward the middle of the bus. It wasn’t too packed but over the next two stops the bus did fill up. He wasn’t expecting for some female, rather young and petite, to come up to him and ask him to stand so she could sit. She had no bags, nothing heavy on her person, and he shook his head., He had been on the bus longer, had gotten on first, and the seat was his - at least for the moment.
He was not expecting her to raise her voice and declare him to be a misogynist, he had looked up all things related to feminism and social justice not all that long ago due to an incident, so he knew what he was being called. Shaking his head he looked up at her hazel eyes. “Not one, got here first.” It was short and simple, an answer that he figured would suffice. It didn’t seem to work though as he found her continuing on, as if he hadn’t spoken at all, saying how something about man spreading and that he was taking a seat which she - a lady should have. She should be off her feet and resting - he could stand. He was a man and should not be making her uncomfortable by forcing her to stand. She had raised her voice enough that she had other people's attention, and Seung noted one or two seeming to agree if their nodding heads were anything to go by.
One he heard saying something about him of course being a misogynist - he was Asian and didn’t they all believe that men came first and women had to be subservient to men? He wanted to protest but he also knew it would do nothing. So he ignored it, turned his gaze away, and kept silent as the petite, and mostly innocent looking, female continued to rail against him verbally - now with back up and support.
When his stop was finally reached he got up, calmly, nearly stepping right into her he ignored her shout of ‘Don’t touch me, get your hands off of me.’ since he wasn’t trying to touch her she was just standing that damn close. Moving around her he headed off the bus without a backward glance, despite the continued comments.
Shaking his head he pulled his phone out from his bag and sent a text to Fai telling him he was almost there. The place they were going to be meeting was a nice indoor pool. In his bag, which had been prepped before he’d left for work, was a set of swim trunks and a towel. It was a nice day out, not beach weather, the indoor pool was kept to a nice temperature from what he’d learned of the place before deciding this should be a place to go.
When Seung entered the facility there was a check in counter, where he did check in and pay. Taking the key, for a locker, that was offered to him he went to go change in the locker room and store his things. Once done, and seated on a bench with his phone in hand and his swim trunks on he sent a text to Fai - it seemed the other was also running late.

Quote:
Running late was putting it mildly. Since college was out his siblings were all home and that made for a packed house full of people. A packed house full of people meant getting dragged into various things in some sort of unspoken game of tug of war that no one could win, but the one being tugged about most certainly lost.
That was how today had been leading up to him finally escaping and heading to meet Seung. After feeding his birds he’d been taken by his elder brother out, for some unknown reason. It turned out that his elder brother wanted his opinion on a gift for his girlfriend, they’d been dating a few months now, so he’d had to help his indecisive brother with that and only got to leave the mall after assuring his brother, for what felt like a million times, that the gift was perfect and she would like it.
From there it had been his little sister who wanted to spend some time with him. Normally that was ok but she wanted him to help her organize her closet so she could donate the clothing she didn’t want to keep - and she wanted his opinion on what to keep. At some point his elder sister had gotten involved and that made things more complicated, as apparently he had no fashion sense - go figure.
Lunch had been...normal for his home, which was good. It meant it was peaceful, though a bit packed with everyone home. The food was, as usual, good and homemade by his mother and sisters. After lunch he’d had to check on his birds and replace their water with new fresh water, there had been a few feathers floating about in the water dish.
After spending some time with his birds he’d spent the remaining part of his day, before he left to meet Seung, doing various things with his elder brothers and his father - none of it all together.
Finally though he was walking into the public pool, phone in hand as he read over the text from Seung. At least he was here, though the other had thought he was going to be the late one. He’d apologize for being late as soon as he saw the older male, he hadn’t meant to be late, he did enjoy the time they spent together. The other was good company and he could sense the other appreciated, even needed, his company and he was happy to provide it. It also helped that they both had a powered life and could relate to each other with that.
Pushing open the door to the changing room it didn’t take long for him to find Seung, checking the isles of lockers, and Fai made his approach. Bowing one he smiled when the other returned the gesture.
<”I apologize for being late. My family kept me busy today. I hope you’ve been well.”> Knowing the others English still needed work, something the other was doing, he felt Korean was easier as was Chinese as he was picking it up quickly. He wasn’t surprised though, considering the other spoke both Korean and Japanese.

Looking up when he heard someone approaching him he stood quickly, setting his phone down on the bench. Bowing he greeted the other, rather than in Korean he went with Mandarin. He was trying to use it more around the other, to put the words he was learning to use as often as he could so they became memorized. Unlike with English the sounds were easier to make, more familiar to him and less complicated. He understood Chinese better - like he did with Japanese.
<”It’s ok. I was late also. I didn’t get the right bus, I wish I had.”> he said thinking back on the incident on the bus. Never had he dealt with someone so rude, at least not back home. People here...were rude and you never knew who those people would be until they showed their true colors. It was...bothersome and unnerving. Pushing the thoughts away he motioned for the other to get dressed. <”Let’s find your locker and you can change. A swim would be nice.>” And refreshing. The time spent together was always nice, filled with conversation and stories. They didn’t bring up being a senshi or a knight, it wasn’t safe to do so, the kept the topics to things they liked, family, friends, China and Korea and other things.

Smiling at the older he nodded and headed off to find his locker, knowing the other was following him without having to hear it. He’d heard him at his locker, likely depositing his cell phone before locking it. With the other following him Fai skimmed over the locker numbers until he found his - at knee level.
Kneeling to unlock his locker he set his things on the floor and pulling his trunks and towel from the confines of his bag he shoved the bag into the locker. Standing up he didn’t bother in finding a covered place to change. He stripped down in front of the other and pulling on his swim trunks he tossed his clothing into the locker before shutting and locking it. Towel in hand he let the other lead the way to one of the pool rooms, as the place apparently had two or three pools.

Pulling open the frosted glass door which lead from the locker room to one of the numerous pool rooms, this one for males only, Seung stepped onto the slightly warmed tile floor. The place kept the floor tiles warm in order to handle the water which got on the floor from people going in and out of the pool, to lessen the chances of people slipping on the wet ground. It was very thoughtful of them, but he knew it was just them wanting to insure measures were taken to avoid people getting hurt and them being sued - he wasn’t stupid.
Padding across the tile to one end of the rectangular pool Seung grasped the handles and allowed himself to slowly step into the pool. As the slightly cool water embraced his form he finally took that last step and was left in the pool with his legs lightly moving to keep afloat.
<”It’s nice.”> He called up to the other who still hadn’t entered the water.
<”I have to tell you what happened on the way here.”> He said watching the other enter the water and move over toward him.

Watching the other as he stepped into the water, glad to find it wasn’t too cold, Fai made his way toward the other. <”Something good, I hope?”> He questioned the older male, ignoring when his hair was ruffled by the other.
Fixing his hair he watched the other, watched his dark eyes, Fai noticed the look in those dark eyes and watched the other shake his head, the others lips pressing together. <”What happened, Seung?”> He questioned, hoping it wasn’t anything too bad, though seeing as the other wasn’t injured it couldn’t be that bad - right?
He listened, moving about the pool, as Seung told him what had happened on the bus. It brought a frown to the younger's face. Even though neither were that whole, white, straight, cis male thing they still were attacked verbally by such people...and someone new to the country no less - someone almost clueless. What Seung must think, and to have this being the second incident with such people, and for such people to be so abusive and close minded while wanting people to be open and accepting - disgusting.
As he spent enough time in China, going fairly often to visit family, he knew that there were certain opinions on Americans and was sure the other came with such opinions in mind. He knew like Chinese people who could be, and often were, rather xenophobic Seung likely was also, as were many Korean’s and for him to deal with that. It likely didn’t help his overall opinion of American’s, even though he was dating one.

As he told the other what had happened he noticed the others sympathetic gaze flickering his way every so often. <”Don’t worry, I am fine. I am just surprised - very surprised.”> Seung responded in Chinese, he’d been speaking in a mix of both languages since Fai had arrived. It was the easiest way to communicate, using the words he knew no matter the language and Fai would toss him new ones to fit into their conversation - it worked well.
<”Never thought I’d run into someone who would behave like that.”> He added easily, and honestly. The incident at the college campus was one thing but this - this was another. Demanding his seat and just because of gender? That was...insane, and stupid.
A few minutes later and the topic had changed and the two were betting who could do three laps the fastest - a race. With them both saying they could out do the other the race was on and the two were getting ready to start,
Knees bent, feet pressed to the wall of the pool, each one reaching back to hold onto a bar to keep themselves ready. They counted down together before taking off through the water.

Changing the subject after a few minutes of talking about the incident, he really would never understand some people, Fai was glad to see the other smiling and bantering back with him. As Seung agreed to the race he moved to get into position, watching the other do the same. Backing up against the wall he reached back to grab a bar, it went to what people who were really racing would use - like in the olympics where they would stand, bend down and dive in. He didn’t know what it was called, but it did remind him of what track runners used to position their feet before the start of a race.
As Seung grabbed the bar Fai nodded once to him. <”Dinner is on the loser.”> He called over and gaining a nod of acceptance, the other likely thought he’d win, the countdown started and he was off like a shot the moment they hit zero, his legs pushing out as he took off across, and through, the water. Arms moved and legs kicked. He didn’t have time to look over to see where the other was, he had to focus on doing his best - and winning.
There was no way he was buying dinner, after this race they would both likely be hungry and that could get expensive. If this were back in China, or from what he knew Korea, it wouldn’t be so expensive to fill up on food but here it was different.

Moving through the water, one hand up and than the other as he moved through the water on his back. His legs kicked and finally he turned his head just enough to catch sight of Fai who was swimming, though in a different style from himself.
As the reached the wall across the pool, pushing off and turning around, a few other people walked in laughing and joking. The sounds were heard but were sort of distant as the sound of the splashing water filled his ears, along with actual water. He wasn’t really breaking his focus just so he could focus on the people who had come in, not beyond noticing the volume in the room had elevated and that there were words and voices not just the sound of water.
As he continued on the second lap Seung turned his gaze onto the other again, Fai was ahead of him - damn it. Trying to pick up the speed, slowly, he wanted to pace himself and not tire himself out...but he needed to win! He should pay for dinner anyway but since they were making a bet on it...well he needed to win, and get out of paying.
Another turn, the last lap, and he tried to pick up the speed but damn it - just damn it. Fai was ahead of him and he was not able to really speed up to catch the other. Cursing mentally he heard Fai when the other hit the wall and then he did - too long after the other. Cusing as he kept himself afloat, feet kicking in the water, his dark eyes turned to the other.
<”Alright, so what’s for dinner”> He asked looking at the other. Flipping his wet hair from his face. He finally turned his eyes onto the new people, dark eyes sweeping over pale skin and lean muscle. It was when Fai answered that he turned his focus on his friend. <”Alright, we’ll go there.”> The place was one he’d been to before with the Chinese teen, it was shichuan food they’d be having. Both of them liked spicy food, though Fae did prefer sweet foods, it just told him what mood the other was in. The other didn’t often go for spicy food, at least when they went out to eat together, so he was in an uncommon mood though why he wasn’t sure. He might ask later, while they ate.
Following the other out of the pool, planing to grab a shower to get the chlorine out of his air and off himself, he led the way with Fai falling in step at his side. Together the two oriental males made their way into the locker room and split up in order to get their shower things so they could wash up before redressing and going to get their meal, they’d have to take the subway, or catch a bus or cab, to get to Chinatown which was fine with Seung.
Washing up wasn’t so bad, the two talking as they were in stalls next to each other. Once they were both washed up and ready to go they did just that - left the public pool building and headed off, deciding to head for the underground to take the subway to Chinatown.

Climbing out of the pool, golden eyes for a moment flickering over those who had come into the pool at some point during their race, he turned his focus back onto Seung as he followed after the elder male. He hadn't noticed when the new people had arrived, too caught up in the race. He had beaten Seung, by a good amount too, it hadn't been the easiest of wins. He wasn't a swimmer, not that he was in bad shape for swimming, so it wasn't something he was familiar with but it was a race between friends and nothing to be taken seriously so he hadn't minded going for it and racing the other, where as normally he would not enter into a contest when he wasn't comfortable with what he was competing in.
To be honest he hadn't been too sure he'd win but it being all in good fun was ok with him, Seung was like another brother, but also someone he was helping - someone who was leaning on him for support despite being older. After informing the other of where they were going, wondering why the other hadn't questioned him on the out of character food choice, he fell in line at the others side as they headed into the locker rooms. Once inside he went to get his own shower supplies and met the other in the shower room. Grabbing the neighboring stall so they could talk, mostly joke around with him teaching the other a bit more Chinese.
When they did get dressed he watched the other pull on accessories, which was not uncommon for the other, and shook his head at the sight. Seung did like his rings, necklaces, bracelets, and other things - not that he looked bad in any of them. Following his friend from the building, as they settled on taking the underground subway to China town, Fai was smiling very slightly. he did like having a friend in this war...someone who was similar to himself.
