While her mate was sleeping off their journey the female was still full of energy. Maybe it was because they were coming into familiar ground. A rustle startled her but she to find only a flutter of wings that took off was the culprit. She could handle herself mostly out here even without Desher. Her senses returning to her as she bunkered herself down. She would explore a little before before returning to her mate for a short nap. The trees made sounds different but the smells were easy to follow.

Was that a trickle of a small stream? Yes, yes it was. Heading for it she recalled how many paces she was from her mate. She'd need to remember that when she made her way back to snuggle up with him for warmth.

The pair was doing their favorite pridal occupation. Well maybe not their most favorite, but they were darn good at it! Biborka bounded through the nighttime foliage as the sound of wings told her that her prey was escaping. How had it heard her so soon?! Usually she could get quite close before the birds realized she was there. "I got it I got it!" She called to the cheetah.

If he'd slapped his face with his paw, Gyatso would have. Unfortunately his forelimbs didn't couture to those angles. Instead the cheetah settled for an eye roll and padded silently after his companion. If the birds hadn't known before that they were coming, they sure as heck knew now. "Sure let them know your coming Biborka," he grumbled under his breath.

Suddenly he paused. His eyes were playing tricks on him. It looked like a piece of night sky had come down to earth and was walking through their forest! Gyatso stopped and stared. Slowly he made out a lion-shaped outline. Not the sky then, but a sky colored lion! "Who goes there?"

The female bristled for a moment, trying to look as threatening as a blind lioness could. There were two figures coming towards her and she didn't know if they might be friendlies or enemies. And if enemies well this could get rough really really quickly.

"That's.. far enough." She huffed out. Seeing the two coming forward. They didn't seem hostile but again she didn't know just yet. "Are you friendly or hostile?"

If hostile she'd turn back toward Desher and try to wake him up, if friendly, she'd back down and play nice.

So focused upon catching the prey, that she was startled to hear Gyatso call out. Biborka let her eyes go wide as she scampered back toward the dubious safety of her cheetah. The serval eyed the bristling lioness for a moment.

He let the fur rise on the back of his neck in response to the female's bristling. "I asked first lioness. State your business here!" Gyatso gave a warning growl. With both him and Biborka he was sure they could take this lioness if they had to. He was surprised to find someone not from the pride awake at this time of night.

The cheetah narrowed his eyes at her. She looked familiar. "You look familiar. Do we know you?" He glanced down at the serval.

"What he means is, your approaching our pride's territory. We're friendly if you mean us no harm." She tilted her head looked hard at the lioness. Now that the cheetah had pointed it out she did. "Mmmm yes. Who was it now? Um um Him, Her, Hermony, *********! Yes *********. She just got that pumpkin bird Gyatso."

The female tilted her head. Looked familiar. Did they know any of her cubs? Desher had explained all of them to her since she could not see them with her eyes. Explained how four of the seven had blindness that she blamed herself for, but she had taught them to rely on their senses as she had.

"I don't know you. You aren't familiar to me." The female said as she stopped looking so large. "Your territory?" She asked curiously. Then when the smaller voice said her daughters name her entire demeanor changed.

"You know my daughter?" She asked. "********* is in your pride? My mate and I will be so happy to meet her again, I mean if you would be so gracious as to have her meet us. We are on our way to our new home, but a chance at talking with her... it would mean the world to both of us."

Biborka smoothed down the fur on her shoulder to show she hadn't been concerned that the two were about to scuffle. "Our pride's territory. I'm not surprised you don't know us. We're small, but stealthy. Gyatso and I are hunters, but we also keep an eye on the borders out here since we cover so much ground. Can't have rogues coming in and taking what we need you see."

Fur combed, the serval stood up and walked around the, now deemed harmless, lioness. "So what brings you out here at a time like this?"

Gyatso snorted at the stupidiness. Of course she didn't know them or they wouldn't be having this discussion. He brightened and perked his ears as Biborka nailed down what was lurking in the back of his mind. "Ah *********! Your right Biborka." The cheetah gave a frown as he eyed the lioness. "They do look alike, but how do we know you're who you say you are? We have a lioness named ********* here yes, but that doesn't mean she's your daughter. I'm sure there's a lot of lions looking like you out there."

It was a tough spot. Did they believe this lioness and let her into the pride's home turf, or turn her away for maybe lying? He looked down at the serval circling the lioness. "Biborka, run back and see if you can find *********. Have her come here." With a flick of her tail, he watched the little feline vanish. Now to wait.

If the blind lioness could give a death glare at that moment she would. She could tell the other's small voice meant it belonged to a smaller creature. Of course she didn't know them, her home was the desert! It was not this small creature's fault that she did not know where Hokulani came from.

"I am not from here. My mate and I left the desert of our home and have decided to venture to a new home." She hoped they would understand that. "I am sure that there are many others like my daughter. But maybe if I describe her to you then you can tell me if that it her. My mate was the one who could see her, he told me of all our cubs." She could remember each of the girls and the words her mate had used to describe their pelts.

Now her mind brought ********* to her, "Her coat similar to mine. Unlike mine, her pelt does not have the moon upon it. Instead she still has the stars. Her ears, like white rays. Her eyes, the color of the sun." So many stars upon her, "Does that sound like your *********?" She asked.

Her ears perked up. It would be great if her daughter could meet them. Oh how her father would be pleased. "Yes. I would love to wake my mate. New of meeting back up with at least one of our seven daughters would be very warming on our arduous journey."

Delighted by the possible family reunion, Biborka scampered off toward the pride's living area. ********* was a defender, so if she was on duty there wasn't any way the little serval could find the lioness. It took her a little time to run back, she wasn't a cheetah after all! Despite searching high and low there was no trace of the dark starred lioness. Unable to spend more time searching, the little familiar ran back empty pawed.

She ran up breathlessly. "Sorry *pant* Gyatoso *pant*. I looked *pant* and looked. I think she's out on patrol tonight." She glance apologetically toward the lioness. Maybe the lioness would encounter ********* out here some where. Biborka sat down to finish catching her breath. She couldn't hunt well breathing that hard.

Gyatso listened as the lioness talked. He hoped Biborka could find *********. With luck it wouldn't take too long. He wanted to get back to his job, hunting. Detaining intruders was the guard's job. He noted that she mentioned her mate, so there was another lion out here. "From the desert eh? That's a pretty long way from here. Have much trouble?" They'd done fairly well not to run into trouble on their own.

He felt a touch of sympathy for the female. She'd never been able to see her cubs although they'd been described to her. "Um, I guess? I don't really remember her that well actually. Don't usually have much to say to her." Only way to know for sure was if Biborka brought *********. Unfortunately, he only heard the small serval running back, and as she came into sight her words confirmed what he already knew. She couldn't find her.

She looked so happy there that he hated to disappoint. "If I see her tonight I'll mention that she should come out this way." It was the best he could offer. "Good luck on your journey and finding a new home."

Too bad the little one had not found her daughter. She was sure it was her. At least she had others, friends, and a home to call hers. She was sure they'd run into her at some point in the future. Whenever that might be. "Thank you for at least trying to locate her for me. I'm sure my mate and I will run into her at some point."

At the cheetah's words she shook her head. "No trouble. Surprisingly." It really had been a rather good travel with no issues. "If you could mention it that would be perfect. Thank you." Dipping her dark head in a nod. "I should take leave. My mate I'm sure is probably just waking up and I remembered my paces to get back. I don't want him to get frightened that I may have been taken or something. It is nice to meet you both."

Biborka nodded. "Good luck lioness." The rendezvous was over and they needed to get back to hunting. "Nice meeting you." She gave a glance at the lioness then at the cheetah. Time to get back to work feeding the pride. The serval slipped into the shadows.

"I'm glad to hear it's gone so well for you two. Best of luck." Gyatso started to nod, then remembered she wouldn't see it. "We will." He stood there awkwardly a moment "Good bye," Gyatso said and turned to leave as well. He didn't want to encounter an over-protective mate tonight either!
